Today, Chancellor Adolfo Portocarrero, in response to what he calls the "staggeringly high" number of Marxist nations in the world, has announced that El Caudillo will not only sharply increase defense spending, but will hire over 15,000 mercenaries who specialize in fighting communists into the military. Among the recruits are former Selous scouts from Rhodesia, former members of Koevoet, former Contras, UNITA guerrillas, RENAMO guerrillas, and other anticommunist fighters. The El Caudillan military is fairly proficient in conventional warfare, but is utterly ignorant in the art of guerrilla warfare, hence its hiring of these 15,000+ mercenaries.
