Gnufasur

Every election year in Gnufasur is identical to the last. Being the sole surviving member of the Royal Mew Family, as well as very strict laws which disqaulified most Gnufasurians for running for office, President Rufus Mew was re-elected every election year by defualt, since his name was the only name on the voting ballot.
However, it's not as if the would-be dictator was not well liked. Under his benevolent rule, Gnufasur has thrived as an independent nation. There wasn't a person in Gnufasur who didn't like the charismatic President. It's widely believed that even if there were no laws against who can and cannot run for President, none would choose to run against Rufus Mew III.
Yet, there are exceptions to every rule... And this one was no different...
The first months of the election year were usual the slowest. President Rufus Mew no longer made speeches stating why he should be re-elected. There was never any competition, it was both a waste of his time and Gnufasur's time.
Yet, something odd happened this year. Seemingly out of nowhere, a blue haired Neko abruptly announced she was running for Presidency. After confirming her qualifications through several government ran sources, Edea Spellsworth (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y245/Beta_Solution/vanessa5c.jpg) was allowed to continue to run against President Rufus Mew III.
No less then a month later, posters and signs were plastered all over Gnufasurs, featuring the face of the canidate, with "Vote Edea for President" underneath. Others featured catchy phrases such as "Gnufasur first, above all," "No longer an international pariah," and perhaps the racyst catch prhase of them all, "The Royal Mews are yesterday. Vote Spellsworth for the future of Gnufasur!"
Almost overnight, Edea fanclubs began popping up all over Gnufasur, some legit, others 'sponsored' by the official Spellsworth Presidency Party.
Official letters were sent out to the international community, asking them to pledge their support towards Edea Spellsworth as President, laced with promises of highest priority as trade partners and political allies. "Your support will not be forgotten, once Ms. Spellsworth is in office." All the letters would state.
It was indeed going to be an interesting election year...
((OOC: Eh, basically, here you can pledge your support towards either Rufus Mew, or Edea Spellsworth. By support, I mean like funds for her presidential campaigns, moral support, etc. This is a ploy by Edea to try and sway popular support from Rufus towards herself. :D I'll add in more later.))
