Cottish Armed Forces to start development of new Anti-Aircraft Artillery system
COTLANDSTAD (CFP) - The Imperial Cottish Armed Forces has announced its intent to start development of a heavy anti-aircraft artillery system. It is intended to be in two variants. One mobile, and one static. Details remain few, but it is said to be utilizing 30 x 173 mm ammunition, and rumors claim that the weapon system will be based on the GAU-8/A Avenger gatling cannon found on the A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft.
A spokesperson for the Armed Forces says that the system, which so far still is on the drawing board, says that it will have the designation XM2020. If the system is accepted into service, it will most likely recieve the designation M2020. The spokesperson further said that "[this weapon] will have a potential well beyond the M163A2 currently in service" and that the weapons system will "complement the M163A2 in the modern battlefield, and increase the range of triple-A weaponry."
The new weapons system could very well signify that the Armed Forces aren't pleased with the systems currently in service, and that the problem needs solving quickly. Could this be a sign of imminent hostilities towards the Empire? Whatever the reason, we will bring you further information on the XM2020 as it comes.
