Prime Minister Helen Juxton waited impatiently for the Einhauseren delegation to arrive at New Planetfall Spaceport. She rubbed the back of her neck, first contact never went as smoothly as planned. Her aide approached her, "Ma'am we have their shuttle on tradar contact. They should be here in under an hour."
Helen nodded that she got the message and her aide walked away. She wouldn't have much longer to wait.

The space around the planet New Planetfall distorted, and then was still. As soon as the backwash from the TMD stopped, three Firebat class Battlecruisers seemed to jump into existence. The central ship was a heavily modified Firebat, with reinforced hull, shields, and all manner of electronics suitable for the diplomatic role she played. For within the ship's armored belly traveled Alexi Redwood, Prime Minister of Einhauserian Foreign Affairs.
The convoy that launched from said ship seemed insignificant compared to their larger cousins behind them. Each were identical, to give the Prime Minister that rode within one of them a higher chance of survival, should the Xessmithians prove treacherous.
"It certainly looks cleaner than Earth..." commented Alexi as he stared out of his shuttle's view port. In that respect, he was right. Einhauser had never been kind to the environment, and now Earth was a smoldering ruin, with toxic air and undrinkable water. The soldiers and important citizens only survived by wearing fully sealing bodygloves and respirators, while the layman was forced to do without. It was for that reason that they only lived to around age 30. Enough of these dark thoughts, thought Alexi. He had an important meeting looming ahead in the metallic spacedock in front of them, and damned if he would let the unpleasentries of Earth harass him all the way out here.
As the ships docked with the station, Redwood prepared for the worst. He had been to more than enough negotiations with rather... uncooperative nations, and had learned to always let the honor guard step out of the shuttle first. The ship shuddered a final time as the docking clamps closed, and Alexi straightened his midnight-black suit and dark purple fedora. This will be an interesting meeting, thought Alxei.

OOC: New Planetfall is Xessmithia's capital city. The planet it's on is called Xess. Also it's not closed but try not to detract from the diplomatic talks which are the primary subject of this thread.
IC:
The Marine honor guard stood at attention in their immaculate green and red dress uniforms as the their Einhauser counterparts stepped out of the shuttle airlock. As the delegate stepped out one of the Marines sounded his Bosun's whistle.
Helen straightened her jacket and stepped forward to greet Alexi Redwood. She extended her hand, "Delegate Redwood welcome to New Planetfall spacedock. If you and your honor guard would follow me to the shuttle which will take us down to the surface we can begins our discussions in far more comfortable settings."

OOC: Terribly sorry about the name mishap. Wont happen again. Also, Alexi is just paranoid. Dont take his extra safty precautions the wrong way. Its nothing against you.
IC: "Delegate Redwood, welcome to New Planetfall spacedock. If you and your honor guard would follow me to the shuttle which will take us down to the surface, we can begins our discussions in far more comfortable settings" said the women who greeted the Einhauserian group. Alexi smiled and nodded.
"Of course, it would be our pleasure." They walked down the shiny metal corridors for what seemed like an eternity, passing the time in idle conversation and old jokes that even a jester would find dull, but diplomatic courtesy required that both parties laughed. "After you," advised Alexi, holding the door to the shuttle open. The Xessmithian Prime Minister gave a curt little smile before heading into the interior.
As the last of her honor guard moved in behind her, Alexi turned to the leader of his own squad. "Watch them very carefully. They are being too kind. It makes me suspicious..." whispered Alexi to the guard, who immediately gave a snap salute before following Alexi through the hatch.

"After you." Alexi said while making a show of holding the automatic door open. Helen smiled and nodded, the gesture was funny but also refreshingly gentlemanly. She stepped through the door and the marines followed. She heard Alexi whisper something to his guards, she didn't think anything of it afterall she'd probably want to be careful visiting a foreign planet for first contact aswell.
A few moments later everyone was seated and the pilot took the shuttle on a leisurely drop down to the city. She turned to Alexi, "Thanks to our anti-gravity devices we can enter the atmosphere slowly enough that we won't produce any significant air pressure in front of us and thus we don't heat up enough to be worried about during re-entry. Do your people have anything similar?"

Do your people have anything similar?" asked the Prime Minister. Alexi chuckled at the thought.
"No, not even on our most advanced starships. We have a policy that gravity in space builds happiness, and happiness nurtures rebellion." Alexi looked out of one of the view ports absently. "However, it does seem to be a wondrous technology. How, pray tell, does it work?"

Helen was slightly confused by Alexi's remark but he spoke again before she could respond, "However, it does seem to be a wondrous technology. How, pray tell, does it work?"
Helen smiled, she was enjoying this conversation, she may be in politics but physics was always her passion. "The device contains a material that is infused with sub-nuclear knots of space-time. When energized they form a repulsive field against gravity that we can use to accelerate or decelerate when pushing against a large gravity field. It allows us to maintain orbits without orbital velocity and like I said earlier to move through an atmosphere without massive heating."
The pilot came over the intercom, "We're on our final approach. Please make sure you are strapped in."
Helen pointed to the window, through which the glittering spires of New Planetfall were visible, "Delegate Alexi what do you think of the view?"

Alexi was slightly startled by the response. After all, he had flunked out of physics twice. Alexi turned to the captain of his honor guard, who gave him a shrug indicating he didn’t know what she had said either. At least, thought Alexi, I think it was a shrug. It was rather difficult to tell what the guards were doing under all that body armor.
Alexi was about to point out his confusion when the pilot broke in. "We're on our final approach. Please make sure you are strapped in."
"Delegate Alexi what do you think of the view?" asked the Minister.
Redwood glanced out the window. The sunlight was reflecting off of the ornate spires of New Planetfall, bathing the city in a dream-like wash of colors. Needless to say, it intrigued him.
"It is quite breathtaking" remarked Alexi unnecessarily.
OOC: This (http://img291.echo.cx/my.php?image=lonemarine7mm.png) is a Spec Ops trooper. 10 of these make up the honor guard. Note the fully-sealed atmospheric suit, respirator, and the shield generator on the left arm.

IC:
"It is quite breathtaking." Alexi remarked.
"Isn't it. I always enjoy this city." Helen replied. Moments later the shuttle touched down, the engines could be heard winding down as a low whine. The door opened and the stairs folded out.
Helen walked over to the exit and smiling she said, "I insist you go first this time Delegate Alexi. It's only fair."

OOC: Snappy uniforms. Won’t stop a bullet, though ;) . Haha, I’m just kidding. Now, to explain a few things about my following post: A) Einhauser has ruined the atmosphere on Earth to the point of blocking a good portion of the sunlight. Buildings have been built on every square inch of ground on Earth, except for a subterranean cavern below the original state of Einhauser, where the military trains. B) The average life expectancy for en Einhauserian soldier is over 3 centuries, owing to genetic research, biomechanical implants, and the lack of any serious war in the history of the nation. Politicians, like Alexi, live to be thousands of years old due to the same reasons. Jason Green, the CEO, is over 1,580 years old.
IC: Alexi grimaced inwardly, but didn’t let it show on his face. Giving a polite nod, he stepped out of the shuttle and into the light of the day. Needless to say, it was rather a shock to everyone from the Einhauserian party, considering they hadn’t seen natural sunlight or naturally occurring open ground for nearly four centuries.
Once they recovered from their shock, the troopers acted like any soldier would: securing the perimeter and forming a human shield around the Prime Minister.
"Beautiful area," remarked Alexi to the now disembarked Minister. She nodded and began walking away from the shuttle, which was still making popping noises from its descent through the atmosphere.
OOC2: I’m not sure where the heck we are going, so I thought it would be best if Helen lead the way, lol

"Beautiful area." Alexi said as Helen stepped onto the landing pad. She quickly took the lead of the party to show them the way to the building where the treaty negotiations would be held.
Helen looked down the path to the building to the gardens lining it, someone was tending them with the aid of a small gardening droid. A shadow crossed the path when a aircar flew overhead disrupting the silver and glold light reflecting off of the multi-kilometer spires.
She had noticed the Alexi was a bit surprised at the scenery, "Delegate Alexi, perhaps when the talks are through you'd like a tour of some of Xess' best attractions? Infinity Falls is quite spectacular this time of year."
Einhauser

"Why, I would be honored, madam. I have heard great things about Infinity Falls," said Alexi diplomatically. Actually, he hadn’t. The intel going in to this mission had been extremely poor.
The sun beat down on the little party as they made their way to the building that loomed ahead. Sweat beaded on Alexi's brow and trickled down his face, to be wiped off with a dab of the dark purple silk handkerchief Alexi kept in his jacket pocket. He urned for the air-conditioned confines of his honor guard’s armor, but alas, it was not to be.
He soldiered on, keeping a grim, yet still mildly friendly smile on his face. "So, Minister, how long have you worked for the Xessmithian government?"

OOC: Sorry, I'm really sick and not feeling up to responding most of the time.
IC:
"So, Minister, how long have you worked for the Xessmithian government?"
Helen took a second to think about her answer, "Coming up on ten years in the fall. I've been Prime Minister for three years, which means I essentially run the country." They arrived at the building and entered it's air conditioned loby.
"How long have you worked for your government Delegate Alexi?"
Einhauser

OOC: Hey, thats ok. If your too sick to post, I can wait a few weeks.
IC: Alexi had to pause at the last question. He couldnt even remember when he started working for the Einhauserian goverment. "Oh, about fourteen centuries, give or take a couple of decades."
They walked through the lobby and into one of the elevators, making idle chatter the whole time. Helen pressed a rune somewhere out of Alexi's view, and the elevator shot up several stories. The doors snapped open, and the parties exited. A long hall stretched before them, with half-open doors emitting soft yellow light about every 30 feet. The Prime Minister moved to one of the doors and stepped inside. It was a conference room, commented Alexi to himself.
OOC2: Sorry about the direct route to the conference room. Just got kinda tired of beating around the bush, ya know?

OOC: Very sorry about the delay. I went to Toronto and had limited access to internet.
IC:
"I know the room is large. We normally use it to seat several hundred people but it was the only one available so close to the spaceport." Helen said, "Now if you'd take a seat we can get right down to business." She gestured to a seat opposite of herself as she sat down.

OOC: No problem, worked out fine. I had family matters to attend to, so I was away as well.
IC: Alexi sat in the appointed chair, and rested his chin on his templed hand. One of the armor-clad guards approached the table and placed a small metal chest on the table. Alexi placed his thumb in a slot on one side, and winced as the machine sampled some of his DNA. Finding that it matched, the box extended the retinal scanner. After that test was passed, a keyboard took the scanners place. After finally entering the correct pass code nine times, the case split open. Redwood reached inside and pulled out a sheaf of papers.
"I have here in my hand," said Alexi, "orders to obtain an alliance with the Confederacy of Xessmithia. I believe that such an alliance would prove beneficial to both sides: we would have a powerful ally, among other things, and you would have an active ship design firm and large network of mercantile wormholes to exploit."
One of the guards crept forward and placed a mug of coffee on the table. Green knows where he got it, but Alexi was glad to have it. At least, he was glad until he took a sip. Military, grade c, if I am not mistaken, thought Redwood. The stuff had the smell and consistency of tar, and tasted a lot like it too. With a grimace he shoved the offending "liquid" away and turned his attention back to Helen. She was reviewing the papers Alexi had placed on the table a few minutes ago.
"Feel free to discuss any ideas you have regarding the alliance," said Alexi.

"Well first things first. Why don't we get you a decent drink instead of whatever it was that caused your face to shrivel up like that." Helen said as she paged for a steward.
"Now as for the alliance I'm sure you'll find that our nation would provide an excellent military defence partner. Our military may not be the strongest in the universe but their training and resolve is second to none.
"We also have claims to many hundreds of uninhabited systems which we can offer to you for joint resource collection and. Many of these systems also have habitable planets which we have not yet colonized and would be glad to do so in a joint effort with your nation." Helen explained. She finished just as the steward arrived. She turned to him, "Delegate Alexi here seems to need a drink please take his order."
Einhauser
30-06-2005, 22:24
Alexi looked gratefully at the Prime Minister, and then placed an order for realcoffee.
"That offer is quite tempting. To date Einhauser has only discovered one other system suitable for colonization, and we are meeting," Alexi paused, "resistance from the natives. We are also finding that the need for ore to construct our ships is rapidly draining our mines on Mars and Earth, so the offer is doubly agreeable. Yes, that sounds like an offer that Jason Green would not be able to turn down. However, I do feel that your nation is being shortchanged. I mean, a bunch of mining and colonizable worlds for access to a minor shipyard and mercantile network? Surly there must be something else we can do for you."
Xessmithia
02-07-2005, 17:43
"We really don't need anything else from you. What we have already discussed and a mutual defence agreement are all that we ask of you. Our nation has been at this for a lot longer than yours and we've figured out our way around the block." Helen answered quickly.

Alexi shook his head in disbelief. "Well, I dont feel right about it, but I guess if everything else is all tied up..." He tugged on his suit and straightened his tie. "Yes, well, then if all is agreed apon, let us sign the document and finalize the alliance. We will impart starcharts that show you the locations of our systems and whatnot."
OOC: I really have a starchart, but it contains information that would be... usful to enemies of my nation, so I would apreatiate if you didnt show it to anyone. Ill TG it to you.

Thank you for your time, and feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions or concerns. i will either answer them or pass them along to Jason. Good day." With that he sped off down the halls and out the front door. Its a shame I cant stay longer, thought Alexi, but duty calls...
