The small planet of Nophis sat in it's own sector of space, soaking in the rays from the systems sun. The planet's surface was a fairly nice one; a few grass plains, but mostly snow-capped mountain ranges with river valleys. Of course this made up 79% of the planet, the rest was an ocean.
The people of Nophis were quite primitive, still living in a medievil age. The people were human, and lived in towns and followed a feudal system of government. Most of the villages were in the river valleys, but a fair bit were built on the mountain ranges to act as fortress cities so to speak. The archetecture and culture was that of Vikings, but the people were more civilized and less warlike. All in all, it was a good life for the people of the planet, tho an ignorant one.
In space
A rift in space opened as a Taledonian Colony Ship came out into the system. It was unguarded by warships but looked like it could handle itself against space pirates. As it floated gently through space towards the planet, the crew scanned for signs of technology.
"Anything, lieutenant?" asked Captain Mckoy.
The science officer on the bridge answered his superior, "There's life, but they are still primitive. No modern technology, sir."
The Cpt. nodded, "Set a course for the planet and land in one of those valleys. Let's meet these people, see what their like. See if they can be brought into the Taledonian Empire and the Republic without having to resort to force."
"Yes, sir. Setting coarse for the surface." reported the navigations officer.

A Kazeci Super Cruiser entered the system and coasted into orbit arround the planet in the scilence of space. They sent out a message.
May we join you?

As the colony ship entered orbit around the planet, they recieved a transmission from a Kazeci ship.
May we join you?
"Send a transmission to the Kazeci. Please stay in orbit as to not show them force. Anything they could take as a threat would be bad for negotiations with them. If you are called upon, please send in forces." said the Cpt.

A small division of the HT exploratory fleet moved in. They had detected sentient life on the planet, and the policy was to set up two orbital satellites, and wait until the natives reached space travel then to induct them into the Realm.
Twelve fighter craft and a support frigate carrying 8 probes moved towards the orbit. (I'm assuming you just landed) Two were dropped into orbit on opposite sides of the planet. The lieutenant commander (Rank below captain, commands a small ship) flicked a switch, and a screen lit up.
His aide walked over to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Sir. We've got a situation. It appears another race has already landed on the planet."
The L-C looked at the aide, and swore. "Damnit. We've got a prolonged ground war here. By the scan of the ship, our designs are superior, due to the fact they're pure war designs, but we're outnumbered about 20-1. Also, the nebula we went through 12 sectors ago has screwed up our comm system, so any message we send now won't get back for a year or two.
Take us in, helm. We're going to take a closer look at this colony ship and see if negotiation is still feasible."
A small pod tore away from the frigate, hurtling into the atmosphere.
"There. That should secure our communications, hitting anywhere from 1-20 km away from their colony ship."

"Them? Who are-"
"Sir, we are picking up traces of sentient life."
"Oh, really? Well full scans of everything in the system. Nothing enters the atmosphere."
"Yes sir."

As the colony ship landed in the river valley near a small village with a stone wall surrounding it, the inhabitants started to gather at the site. The ship's platforms came down and the hatches opened. Out walked the Cpt. and several of his commanding officers to greet the peoples. They surveyed the people and finally spoke out, using the universal translator to make sure they were understood.
"Greetings, people of Nophis. We come in peace. Take us to your leaders!"

The HT Fleet scanned the Super Cruiser -
"Sir, this seems to be a ship to match our Heavy Cruiser Attm or Light Dreadnought classes. This frigate would provide little or no match for them."
"Irrelevant. The Yrai Doctrine must be followed, to the letter. I managed to open a secure line to Fleet HQ, so reinforcements may be on their way. It shouldn't take them to long to arrive."

(OOC: And I'm bored of this already.)
So the Taledonians were taken to the King, blah, blah, blah, the planet said they would join the Taledonian Empire, blah blah blah, cookies were served.
The End!

IC:
Deep within the Northern Mountains of Nophis
Deep Space Radar Technician Azgak dashed down the steel hull of the Palodme, a Space Pirate Frigate. Azgak, dispite his enhanched leg articulating system, was finding it hard to reach his destination. Mainly because Azgak was terrified.
They are coming... he thought to himself.
With a crash, Azgak burst into the Palodme's Bridge. Azgak, his glistening sides heaving, wiped his insect-like face with a giant claw.
"What is the meaning of this?" said an impressive Space Pirate, who was sitting in a large obsidian seat in the center of the bridge.
"Captain -*gasp*- Turthr," Azgak whezed, barely able to string together a sentance, "I just -*gasp*- came to tell -*gasp*- you tha -*gasp*- t w-"
"Get to the point, Technician," Captain Turthr demanded calmly, his three meachanical eyes focusing on a lab report within his hand.
"There's...there's a ship, sir!" Azgak blurted out, his sides heaving less than before.
"A ship?" Turthr barked sharply, turning his eyes away from the log, "Where, in orbit?"
"Aye, sir." Azgak said, adding a little salute, "A Taledonian vessel."
The Space Pirates around the bridge muttered amongst themselves. Their talk was quick and hushed; resembling the chattering of dozens of bees.
Turthr, his aloofness returning, raised his clawed hand. The chatter died down, and the room begame silent.
"It appears," Turthr said with a calming, experienced voice, "that High Command has given us false information. This is not "cold space," as so many of us believed. Still, we shall manage. We have all heard of the Taledonians and their ruthless policy involving pirates. However, those fools they have defeated time and time again are not true Space Pirates! If they seek war, then we will fight! Until then, conduct our expermients as usual."
Turthr, turned to look at the lab report again, his mind racing with thoughts.
"Frak Command," Turthr thought, barely concentrating on the little datapad in front of him, "we barely have a Contingency of Pirate Soldiers here. If they brought a full military Platoon, then we'll have to evacuate. Still, our stealth should buy us some time. When and if they land, I will send our Paratrooper scouts to monitor their situation."

OOC:You can afford to send a Super Dreadnought against a small planet? Either that's your entire fleet, or Super Dreadnought means 'small rock'.
IC: "Luckily, the Singularity Warp has been opened. We found a Singularity Point here, and we've requisitioned reinforcements. Although not many ships have these drives, the ships we do have should be sufficient to save our butt here."
Incoming Fleet:
1 Heavy Cruiser Attm (Carries 125 fighter craft)
3 Light Frigates (Carry 3 interceptors)
As the fleet warped out of Singular Space, the area around them erupted with fiery ripples. Singularity travel is inefficient, and dangerous. The Light Frigates sustained shield and engines damage, and the Cruiser suffered minor power failure.
"This is Captain VonGuard. We are here to uphold the Yrai doctrine. Please, all races, stand down your weapons or we will be forced to open fire."
------
The probe hurtled into the ground, a mere 2 km from the colony ship. A great roar was heard, and soil flew up hundreds of metres high. The probe extractd itself, using long arms, and opened up, a small screen displayed the L-C's face.

With the planet now under Republic control, Emperor Kellerman decided to make sure his investment stays secure. Therefore a standard defense fleet was sent to guard the system. In a few minutes after being launched from the bays in the Taledonian System, they arrived in the new system.
The defense force:
1 Battle Cruiser
8 Destroyers
15 Frigates
9 Support Frigates
4 Carriers

ooc: Our war ships have nothing better to do. SC's makeup just over a third of our fleets. We use these ships for everything, and when we go to war, the parts of our fleets assemble from the corners of the galaxy. They are only together when they fight.
Ic: "We do not take kindly to threats. It would be best if you did not make them. We will however comply, in the interests of peace. You cannot get us to lower our shields, however."

As the defense fleet moved into their positions throughout the system, the pirates were spotted. The frigate who spotted it didn't care about notifying the others, as it could easilly take a pirate vessel. It moved in front of the pirate ship and sent a transmission.
"This is Captain Lugotorix of the Taledonian Frigate Alzar. Lower you shields, disarm and prepare to be border or we will open fire."
