The Colony of Masserabia has revolted against Shinritan rule, burning down the governors mansion and razing the countryside killing many civilians. Governor Harry Ballsonya fled to the Shinritan military barracks outside of Masserabia City, the capital of the colony.
President Seth Hunter immediatly ordered 25,000 infantry troops under Lt. General Michael Hall of the 1st Marine Expeditionary force to sail for Masserabia. ETA of them is 2 days, along with the Navy's 3rd fleet, which is already in position and deploying jets to patrol and make sure no civilians are being killed. The barracks are currently under siege, and the 17,500 troops within the base are holding out as best they can, being airlifted supplies from the Shinritan Air Force. The rebels are not allowing wounded to be sent out for treatment, and all land routes have been sealed off.
President Hunter has repeatedly called for the rebel leaders to the negotiating table and offered the colony dominion status within the Commonwealth of Shinrita. The rebels responded by a botched kidnapping of the Presidents daughter and Vice President Julia Hunter in Trabia. The kidnapping was stopped by the Elite Squadron Storm Troopers, which guard the President, Vice President, Prime Minister and their families.
Shinrita already has 50,000 troops from the 2nd Division, armed with tanks, artillery and humvees, poised on the outskirts of the city, but will have to travel about 85 miles to reach the barracks. The 8th Air Division is also poised to provide air support to the 17,000+ troops within the barracks.
The 25,000 Marines sent in will provide rear cover to the 2nd division when the attack comes.
