The assimilation wars: A typical battle.

The collective's fleet moved to a position outside the space of a small, technologically primitive nation known as Ominrio. The massive assimilation fleet, which has only grown larger as the wars progressed, Is prepped for entrance. The first ship to be sent in was a mere sphere class science vessel to test the waters so to speak.

It slid forward out of it's gate rift it deactivated all but passive sensors and slid into their space waiting to be detected.

Sephiroth was suprised to find the ship coming into his space. They had been by themselves for a long time, a very long time. Now, their was something that was interesting. He sent communications, yet it didn't reply. Thus he assumed the worst.

From a hundred points across the world nuclear weapons at full power launched, streaming towards the Sphere

The Sphere's purpose was fufilled, it's demise determined that the strength was far insignificant compared to the collective. 40 seperate gate rifts opened pouring out hundreds of ships ready to pounce Including the 30 kilometer long flagship OMEGA.

They sent a transmission, short and simple. "WE ARE THE BORG! IN THE NAME OF CRONESIA YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!"

Alarms sounded throughout the Planet, and Soldiers of all types ran to positions. From the Planets surface, millions of Weapons launched, streaming towards the Borg craft. Each one was different, but they had worked against fleets before.

Only a few smaller vessels were destoryed.

OOC: It's unfortunately private. Sry.

Sephiroth Swore, before issuing orders that all Ragnaroks where to take to the skys. The ships moved swiftly, engaging with a fury unlike desperation. Not knowing what the Borg would do, they belived they would be wiped out, like the last invaders had tried to do. Thus the Ragnaroks fired shot after shot into the enemy formation.

The weapons of the Ragnoroks were different then anything the collective had encountered. nearly 30 shots were fired causing extensive damage to a few ships before the weapons were adapted to. The ships were very curious about the weapons and stopped their advance, instead beaming a drone aboard each of the Ragnoroks to study their technology.

Sadly for the Drones, it was not possible to adapt to sword play. Clones would always find a drone, slicing their bodys to ribbons using the Long Bladed Swords. Others Mearly used Materia to destroy the Borg warriors, freezing their joints, things like that, but the ships where being torn apart by the Borg weapons, it was easy for them to be so devestated, they had no sheilds.

The beam-overs ceased. The ships were sliced apart (mostly intact) with the cutting beams and would be studied later. The pyramids started to move into orbit of the planet and charged their planitary assimilation guns.

Sephiroth swore, knowing now it was over. There was no way they could win this, besides throwing troops uslessly at their ships. Perhapse surrendering would work? Or perhapse. He shook his head, that would not be worth it...would it? He shook his head. If they found it they would use it, but the thing was hidden from all people unless it was going to be used, so it would be safe, he hoped.

All 29 pyramids fired. The nanite streams went to work and in less then 10 seconds, the planet was assimilated. All life on that planet was now either dead or borg. Confident that the mission was over on this planet, the drones were placed on passive as the fleet moved to the next world.http://www.gameland.lv/Wallpapers/PC/STAR%20TREK_ARMADA%20II/borg-attack.jpg

The ArchMagos watched on vast screens as the Assimilation fleet completed its dastardly work; a smile creasing his lips beneath his implants of dark devotion to the Machine.

"Yes, go onwards esteemed ally. Bring chaos and death to the Galaxy; distract the countless enemies we have. Swell your ranks; the hour of your victory draws nigh..."

OOC: An excersise in bashing primatives? Meh. I would say though, that 1 - Shrinking the 'planetary assimilator' graphic would be in order.

2 - Borg ranting about "THE NAME OF CRONESIA" is... rather silly.

3 - The game mechnic stuff of Star Trek Armada is rather... absurd. It would be far true-er to the Star Trek Canon and far more interesting to simply beam the occupants of the planet up into ship-borne assimilation chambers, or launch an invasion.

4 - The Machine God is not amused. Though only because he isn't watching, but that's beside the point!

OOC: Yeah, I never even made them part of my Imperium, just allied with them and they spelt my name wrong....phooey.
Anyways; if the Machine God is displeased, then that is only because, as you have said, he is absent from his followers ;)

OOC: Well, the mix of chaos stuff and ad-mech stuff (traitor tech-priests tend to worship Chaos Undivided, not the Machine God) is rather a put off. An actual Adeptus-Mechanicus based nation would be easier to interact with.

OOC: Well, I enslaved my Mechanicus, who I had based in another system after I turned my main nation to Chaos.
After all, what use is an Empire without technology to fuel it. We have taken all the limitations off of the Adeptus; they can explore as they wish, take what they wish, do what they wish. Of course some do cross over to worship Chaos, and there are TechMarines.
I think its rather fun to have a corrupt Imperium; i imagine its what it would be like had Horus won. But bear in mind, this is Chronosia, not the Imperium of Man, and so, I can have Chaos and Machine God if I want ;)

I would have said that it's more a case of the Mechanicus simply not having the mindset to innovate, more than Imperium imposed limits. Most of their... stuntedness... is inherent to their very nature. Given the 'Reformed' Deceiver, I can't very well complain about canon violation, but it seems to be a great departure from the thematic basis of the AdMech.

OOC: Well, that wouldn't explain the Xenarites, would it? :P
Lord Atum
15-06-2005, 20:59
It's not that innovation is completely unknown to the AdMech, but that the majority of them have some serious issues accepting it. When technology becomes religion, unprecedented technology becomes heresy, after all.

Enslaved you say. Ah, the temptation to do something about that... <.<

OOC: You may feel free to do what you wish about it, but they have grown happy in their servitude to the greater glory of the Imperium and the Daemon Emperor. His Primarch sons will bring the powers of the Gods of Chaos to bear upon all foes, the arcane technology of the Mechanicus shall be unleashed against you...
You shall know death as all enemies of the Ruinous Powers do.

Heh. Does that kind of knee-jerk reaction come naturally to you, or did you have to practice to get it? Though I must say, as a necron nation, the idea of being bothered by the arcane technology of the Mechanicus is rather like a modern soldier being bothered by a primative threatening to unleash the "arcane technology of a boar's jawbone." :D

OOC: And as a Chaos Nation, being threatened by a Necron nation is subject to bringing forth the secondary kneejerk reaction of Psykers and Warp Energy :D
Technology is enough for dealing with the young races; but for the servants of the Yngir; only the best of the Immaterium will do :)

Pfft. Here's to being a nation with a number of Cadian Pylons that would keep warp storms a very very long way away, a completely non-warppsychic population, liberally sprinkled with Untouchables. *Raises Glass.*

Though, if you think my 'doing something' would necesserily mean shouting "I PWN JOO!!!" and sending a thousand tombships after you, I feel sligthly insulted.

OOC: I don't underestimated someone as aged and revered as you. You are, foremost, a very good RPer, and a great respector of rules. I would never think you would resort to any form of god modding or number wanking. I expect, if we ever did clash, it would be quite a challenge and quite a sight, and quite frankly a pleasure and honor for me :)
That and I'm bored these days ;)

On the topic, I'd tell you what I would find interesting. The various dilemmas that would appear from my finding an isolated Adeptus Forge World. While the Dragon is as evil as ever, Mephet'ran is (RAWR!) reformed and nice, and would apply some significant pressure to change the regime. Which of course, leads to some interesting intruigues and quandries.

Not that your main nation seems very suited for that kind of RP. Accursed emotion-worshippers got there first.

Well, there are still one or two rebel worlds kicking around the edges of systems I can never be bothered to fully pacify. An ever present enemy keeps my soldiers; notably Astartes and Inquisition; sharp.
So, if you were willing to set the ball rolling; I'd be more than happy to join in ;)
The Ctan
15-06-2005, 21:36
Well. I doubt that would be wise. ICly I have no desire to antagonise you. At present anyway. Also, I was thinking of fully fledged forge worlds, rather than border worlds. You can always create a puppet for the task if you're interested. Also, Astartes are... a bit uber for my taste. Skitarii and Praetorians are easier to live with.
