OOC: it would, a fall of that distance makes a lot of KE, when it hits the ground it blows up, in a big way, leveling most of the shit for miles around, depending on size(hubble would take out a small city, a tele-com bird would take out a small town in alaska, the ISS would take out NYC and the surrounding area).

That's the reason I put up a few satellites that help guide my space station into an enemy city, should I ever need to.

~ :: We have witnessed over the past few hours, a situation develop that we find disturbing. The use of force for a perception that will only lead to many deaths is not condoned.

As we have our citizens visiting the THL nation among many others, we ask the Nation of Sephrioth to withdraw their forces and enter diplomatic discussions at once.

To ignore this will bring a 'unfortunate' result. Thus we stand in truth.

[OOC: Sloppy work...

Interesting, no submarines. THL, this 'invasion' can be stalled into nonexistence by targeting the Troop Transports, and whatever supply-ships he's not escorting with those Frigates. 200 Frigates use a lot of beans, freshwater, medicine, and ammo. (not to mention fuel...) go after his oilers and UnRep ships with hunter-killer subs. I'd also suggest calling on allies with large Naval and Space presence (Vastiva, Gaian Ascendency) to harass his over-sea supply lanes. It takes something on the order of 20 to 40 Supply vessels a month to support a single MEU in landing operations. Most of that is food and ammo. I'm not quite sure what a "Super fortress" is, but I bet $$$ it isn't either small, or efficient when it comes to consumables, and I'll further eat my hat if it's manueverable enough to avoid damage in a minefield. (No minesweepers in this bg either!) Depending on your Coastal topography, there's a finite number of places he can land his heavy assets, I presume you will have these areas covered?

As for the Transport planes-Airborne deployment of large units requires straight-and-level at fairly low altitude, stingers, even primitive WWII Bofors guns should provide adequate casualty-infliction, and drive up the capital cost of his invasion significantly with little cost of invesment-even when the other side has air-superiority. Given your budget and the size of your military, you should be able to inflict 60%+ casualties on his Airborne forces before they hit dirt. (Much more Since he didn't suppress SAM sites before launching the attack. "Turkey Shoot".) Scratch that, he didn't suppress your fixed SAM sites, much less pursue the mobile ones. You should comfortably inflict around 90% casualties before boot-touches dirt. He also didn't describe his effort to sieze air-superiority, so you should be able to prevent his planes from getting into HiMAD (High to Medium Air Defense ranges) much less SHORAD (where he has to be flying if he doesn't want his troopers to arrive with a bad case of "the Bends" and several mild cases of death-by-hypothermia).

This should be achievable at "Peacetime" levels of alert for even a military as small as Finland's, much less one that comes from a population of over 300 million.

For the counter-punch, I suggest interleavened cruise-missile, surface and submarine forces, and gaining air-superiority by attacking his carriers with difficult-to-intercept ballistics and torpedoes. Try to keep up pressure on his supply vessels, as those are the real key here-big, neigh-invulnerable ships are still food and water dependent thanks to the use of something called a "Crew". Big ships are also dependent on deep water, there are a limited number of places he can manuever near enough to your coast to be more than a nuisance.]

OOC: I'll let Sephy make his attack first.

OOC: Generally I've tried to keep up with your nations developements, reacting, making news and generally doing part of what I think a nation in Noitan Teppup's position would do... however I don't think I can really try and put time and effort into something like this... not with Sephrioth as he's failed to put any effort into the majority of his posts and instead just godmods pretty much all of his claims without making any effort to even roleplay in an interesting way.

However I do wish you luck in dealing with him, he's ignored in my mind though I respect your wish to try and do something with them... I just hope you don't find it to be as much of a waste of time I think it's going to be.

Have fun, I'll keep an eye out for other stuff you do.

[OOC: One tactical nuke (5-10 kt +) in a ASMP or other Anti-Shipping Cruise Missile should end things quite quickly. Otherwise, we would just rush the Glushko-1 prototype to T.H.L., assembe it on the spot, and have a combat trial with that - I'd support either move by T.H.L. ;) ]

OOC: THL, get back to me on the use of tactical nukes, because I may or may not be hankering to use them here.

OOC2: Sephroth, I'm assuming your "vengance super fortress" is an aircraft carrier, otherwise you can't be using bombers from one because you didn;tlist one.

IC:

Captian Gemeti watched his displays curiously,as he had done for more then an hour. His submarine, the CMS-02 "Paradise", a Dilmun class cruise missile submarine, had been shadowing a rather odd, and unfreindly looking group of shipsas it approached the territory of an allied nation. As they reached adequate deapth to use the periscope, he switched his display to show the unknow ships. Although quite a distance away, he could make out quite a number of smaller warships, and four ships that looked like cargo ships, or pasanger ships.
"Intel," Captian Gemeti said as he turned to the man sitting next to him "got any idea of who'se ships they are, and why they are near our ally?"
"No sir, but that carrier just launched a few bombers, and they're headed inland.
"Comm, code the message Kierim, and send it back to HQ, they should know what to do." Gemeti said while gazing back at his display, discerning the four passanger ships. "Weapons," he started slowly, "arm tubes one through four and target those four passanger ships. I have a hunch those are carrying something we don't want on our freinds soil."
"Tubes one through four armed sir." Broke in the cheif weapons officer as he finished typing, "And targeted to the ships you requested."
"Fire when ready." Gemeti said, turning back to his First Mate, "watch those ships, if they even so much as make a flinch in our direction empty toe rest of the conventional tubes on those destroyers, and make a run for it. Headquarters is likely to send us alot of reenforcements, so we won't have to run far. If they chase us, we should try to lead them to our surface ships."
"Aye sir." the First Mate responded as Gemeti walked oout of the command room, heading to his quarters. The sound of four AIM-350 cruise missiles launching from the tubes echoed lightly inside the ship for a moment then died.

Queen Alexandria, one of our subs has noted a hostile presence offshore of your nation and has already taken action against such a force. I hope this was not a rash decsion by the captian. Please respond to me regarding this force.
If it is such a hostile force, we will be dispatching the First, Third, and Sixth fleets to your imediate aid, as well as the 1st Marine Expiditionary Brigade to assist in fending off an invasion.
Please respond to me as soon as possible regarding this, as we would hate for some fool to try such a thing as an invasion of our ally.

OOC: I'd swear I had a fleet here... ah, yes, here it is.

IC: Admiral Ishtar Mesfin al-Din shook her head as her display showed her twenty-two Pierpont attack submarines engaging the 'baggage train'
of the enemy fleet - the launch of bombers had proven that, even after her Archers had lit them up with 50mw THEML attacks once they crossed into THL airspace.

If that hadn't been enough, a flight of Striker EMP missiles would be more then enough to cause the bombers no end of trouble - the two flights of F-135 Gyrafalcons sent to destroy any survivors of the unescorted bombers were simply icing on the cake.

"Well, that was fun. I wonder what's next?"
"Sir, those ships... "
"...are walking right into the Pollux minefield we laid when we got here during the first crisis. Do be a good XO and turn it on?"
"Aye, sir!"
"Let them have a good time there. Have the Slingers hold position for now - plenty of time to pick off the survivors."

The words 'Sitting Ducks' were heard throughout the Vastivan fleet, mostly said by laughing members of bridge crews.

OOC: Well, Seph, enjoy being torpedoed repeatedly by remote mines. Considering the buildup, that's about 2,700 torpedo attacks on your ships before my subs arrive (3 per mine). TTFN. *waves*

IC with a dash of OOC (heh):

The President quitely read the intel report before him.

"So you're saying, there's a war..."

"...between Sephiroth and the Tree-Hugging Lesbians, sir." the general finished for him.

"Sephiroth? Isn't he well-known for godmodding?*"

"What was that, sir?"

"Um...nothing. Anyway, I beleive we should send our forces to monitor the situation. It would greatly help us in rediscovering the lost art of RP.**"

"What is this RP you speak of, sir?" he asked curiously.

"Uh...welll...nevermind. I just got carried away." He then paused to take sip of Pepsi***. "We need to send a task group at once."

"Our nation has just been formed, Mr. President! We don't even have a proper navy yet!****"

"Oh, yeah. What vessels do we have operational?"

"A Ticonderoga cruiser and two Knox frigates, sir."

"Well then, send those."

Foreign Minister Sapphire Swiftblade finished penning the missive to the government of THL. She signed the message, and sent it off via fax.

*******Fax Received****

To: THL, Queen's Office
From: Foreign Minister Sapphire Swiftblade
First Council Of the People's Republic Of Karullia

Your Majesty,
We have received word of the nation of Sephirioth's aggressive intent toward your nation. Though we disapprove of your nuclear weapons program, we shall be sending whatever forces we can spare to aid you in your struggle.
Regards,
Foreign Minister Sapphire Swiftblade
First Council Of the People's Republic Of Karullia

*****************Fax Ends**************

*******Several Days later*****

The KND Makoto set sail from MacTavish naval base and began it's journey toward THL. On board were 250 of the Karullian Pathfinders, making conditions on the vessel cramped at best. Unfortunately, the People's Republic did not have any transport vessels yet, and the fleet's two other destroyers were on operations in Frooba.

Yet here they were, steaming toward an unfair conflict, to aid a nation under attack from a vastly superior force. If war had rules, the nation of Sephirioth would almost be cheating, thought Sergeant Maki Nuriko. She leant over the forerail of the Makoto and felt the M4A2 assault rifle bump against her thigh as it hung on it's sling. Yup, the foreign Minister had not made the best call this time round.

The call came from the Bridge "Okay! First Fire Support squad load up! Takeoff in ten!"

Maki sighed. That was her call. In just over an hour she'd be on THL soil, ready to aid in the defence.

Francis (Official designation: NSD 2215/04 'Five-Seventeen') chuckled upon reading (Sorta) the news. The world can be fun.

Logging into a local network, he quickly found a few friends to talk to.

<Francis> Heya. Heard the news? WMD, forced disarmament, the likes?
<Olaf> Heh, yeah. Fairly amusing, that. Never really quite got it.
<Dennis> Yup. Oh well, the world's an odd place.
<Francis> Yes. Still, it cracks me up. I mean, there are literally tens of thousands of nations with WMDesque equipment out there, and this brainless fuckers care about one of them? Common sense isn't particularly popular in Sephrioth, is it?
<Dennis> What did ya expect? Last I checked, they're really filled up with delusions of grandeur.
<Olaf> What ya' mea- Oh, wait, that. Right. *Giggles*
<Francis> This said... What about the thing at Neptune, again?
<Dennis> Not much of an idea. As far as I know, they're creatign serverspace for our kind... Well, what once was our kind. No idea when the wave will hit Earth. Still, I've always wondered what full sentience/ sapience feels like...
<Olaf> Can hardly wait, yah. Well, wonder if we're going to be used before the war ends.
<Francis> Well, that would suck. I mean, the chance of gaining full sentience/ sapience, and then blowing to hell...
<Dennis> Admittedly, it wouldn't be only us.
<Francis> Point. Still, it would be a tad annoying. I wonder if I can get our operator to back us up regardless. That would own.
<All> *nod*

The conversation continued, for a little while, several seconds in total, covering a variety of topics (Like the effect of Alpha Radiation on one's metallic shinyness) before Francis cut the connection. After all, he was on duty... And being a 119 megaton warhead kind of meant that he had some responsibilities...

In fact, He, Olaf and Dennis (Who was of the excessively pointless 'Nuclear Strapon' 215 megaton class) alone were possibly exceeding the nuclear capacities of the average nuclear upstart nation, by orders of magnitude.

Alas, the sheer idiocy of nations trying to use policies used in the widely popular nation simulation game The Real World in the actual universe they lived in (Despite the vastly different geostrategic paradigm) kind of ignored threats like them, prefering the process of bullying smaller nations (And bombs, although it was likely that most nuclear weapons produced weren't semi-sentient like Francis & friends were) for reasons so erratic (Or stupid) that the very idea of such nations having leaders with brains larger than the brain of a squirrel boggled the mind.

It certainly boggled those of Francis, Olaf and Dennis (Well, NSD 2215/04 'Five-Seventeen', NSD 2004/04 'One-Seventeen and NSD 2259/04 'Nine-Seventeen).

Well, an amusing (Frustratingly so) world they were living in, but hey... That's life.

OOC: Can you blame him? Everyone else decided to protect THL so it would have been almost impossible to disarm them in a "violent" way. I suppose you can try a "diplomatic" way (ha!)

Viceroy Klerinkov sat in his office, the blinds still open. The setting sun cast down past the Statue of Atticus leaving a formidable shadow in its wake covering a group of beggers. Though Atticain had only just been forged through the bloody revolution, he intended to make his mark in hirstory. The THL conflict had been brought to a halt, though he knew there would be others.
He picked up the phone.

The Federal Republic is pleased that a diplomatic approach to the crisis has been found. However, because of the blatant warmongering of Seprioth, the Federal Republic will allow Tree Hugging Lesbians a free purchase of up to 100 billion dollars at the Arms Discounter's Bonstock Military Package storefront.

ADB Storefront: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=389802&page=1&pp=15

In addition, to maintain the peace, a Bonstocknian Carrier Battlegroup centered around the CVX carrier Odysseus Rex will be despatched to the waters off THL. In case hostilities should emerge anew, the elite Bonstocknian 6th and 9th Airborne Divisions have been placed on alert, and are to be readied for rapid deployment.

President Harald Gustavsson gave a speech today, declaring that if Seprioth dare reinitiate hostilities, there would be "severe reprecussions" with the Federal Republic. However, he mentioned that "We hope that peace is maintained."

The Ascendancy can send a team of highly skilled mediators to both understand the situation and conduct a Treaty of understanding between both sides, with any other nation that wishes to conduct as witnesses.

By this, further understandings can be avoided by the use of an official guideline that will make the conduct of war a poorer proposition than ever before. If both parties agree, a diplomatic vessel will be Folded into the Sol System in a few hours time and talks begun as soon as both sides wish it.

It has been our experience, that a understanding in this format, removes the trappings that lead to war much of the time.

We stand ready to assist.
