"Holding back?" Akalna burst into laughter. "A modest one, aren't you Vio?" She grinned at him.

"The match was good," muttered Migoshi. "Seems you have more powers than me - if I tried to fight you I'd be flattened."

Vio simply chuckled and grinned back.

"Im not sure about that. Also if you want me to train you with weapons I will" Matteo told him

Vio and Akalna arrived at the kitchen. "What you going to get?" asked Akalna. "I still think the food here's great, even after three months."

Migoshi considered. "I'm unlikely to ever get the opportunity to use them," he said, eventually. "What can you teach me about unarmed combat?"

"What ever the cook happens to have." Vio replied as he snagged an apple out of a bushel basket and took a big bite.

"what ever you want" Matteo replied

"cool lets go. We won't all fit in Devlin car so I guess we'll walk." Matteo said

"The nearest town is over twenty miles." said Devlin, who took off down the academy’s driveway.

Matteo turned and saw Devlin coming behind them in his car

"You reckon you can go twenty miles, Matteo?" said Migoshi, a slight smile on his face. "Might take us a while. And you can explain some stuff about unarmed combat on the way."

Akalna looked around the kitchen, eventually deciding to make herself a quick sandwich. As she made it, she spoke to Vio.

"So, what are you making of the school so far?" she asked.

"It seems alright, slightly odd thought." Vio replied as he fixed himself a plate of sandwiches.

Keira decided to stop by the kitchen to get herself a sandwich.

"Well, it's a mutant school in a huge mansion run by vampires," said Akalna. "I'd agree, it is a little odd, but not bad."

As Keira walked in, Akalna looked up from her sandwich. "Oh, hi Keira."

"If you ignore those things, it's down right normal." Vio said with a chuckle, "Hi Keira."

"Hi Akalna, Vio." Keira replied, sandwich fixings moving on thier own to make a four layer dagwood sandwich.

"Heh, impressive," observed Akalna as various bits of food flew around her head. She finished making her sandwich and took a bite out of it, then walked over to a refridgerator and pulled out a bottle of Coke. "Have you two got anything planned for later today?" she asked.

"I don't." Vio replied before taking a bite of one of his sandwiches.

"Niether do I. So what are you interested in doing?" Keira asked as she sliced the sandwich in half and took a bite.

"I don't know, really. Thought I might go and see what the nearest town's like, if I can find a way of getting there," said Akalna. "And if we're allowed. I think Migoshi and Matteo are already going."

"Yes, y'all are allowed to go to the nearest towns." said Calvin, who was walking into the kitchen. "That is if you have a way to get there."

"We could always fly there. If you can levitated that is, if not I could carry you on my back." Vio commented

"I can levitate," said Akalna. "Not that well, though. I might have to stop a couple of times. You want to come with me, then?"

"Alright let me just finish my lunch." Vio replied as he finished his sandwiches.

"Ready to go?" Keira asked, she'd finished her dagwood a few minutes ago.

"Sure," said Akalna. "Oh yes, Calvin, do you have a map or something we could use to find our way there? Or is the way pretty obvious anyway?"

"Yes, the nearest town is easy to find." said Cavlin "If any of y'all can drive, I will let y'all take my SUV."

"It is '05 black Cadillac Escalade." he added. “Maybe you can pick up Migoshi and Matteo on the way.”

"Can you drive?" Keira asked Akalna.

"Me? No. It's illegal to drive at my age in Kzuu Mai," Akalna replied. "Can either of you two? If not, I expect Migoshi can."

"Never had a reason to learn, either of us." Keira replied

Akalna considered for a minute. "If I run, I expect I can catch Migoshi. He can drive, I'm sure of it."

With that, she left the kitchen and sprinted after Matteo and Migoshi, who were beginning the long walk to the nearest town. She caught up with them and tapped Migoshi on the shoulder.

"Can you drive?" she demanded. "If you can, you can drive us into town."

Migoshi merely nodded, and turned back the way he had been coming.

"Are you going to come with us, Matteo?" asked Akalna.

Vio and Keira followed, but at a more sedate pace.

"Sure. Do you want to know anything in particular" Matteo asked

The nice black SUV was waiting for the students at the front door, the keys were in the driver seat. A note on CD player. Keep it under 60 mph. Have fun.

Migoshi opened the driver's door and sat down. He quickly ran his eyes over the controls, shrugged, and smashed his foot onto the pedal. The car jolted forwards, throwing him back into his seat.

"Sorry," he muttered to the others. "I usually drive to escape from the police or something like that."

He tried again, this time confidently easing the car down the driveway, then acclerating to sixty.

"I'll drive on the way back." Matteo said "Is there any particular topic you want to learn about?"

Vio seeing the fact that there would be five people in a car that could only comfortably seat four, said "I'll walk alongside the car, thought make sure you leave the window down, don't want to have to shout throught the glass." As the car drove he jogged besided it keeping perfect pace.

"OK, Vio," said Migoshi, flicking a switch and bringing down the window. "Oh, and Matteo, nothing specific. Maybe something a bit more elegant than street fighting, which is what I'm used to. What kinds of martial arts do you know?"

"I'm a Expert in many forms of martial Arts, to many to name" Matteo replied

Migoshi chuckled cynically. "We'll have to try a fight, Matteo, when we get back. No powers, no weapons, just good ol' hand to hand combat. See if martial arts are really more use than bog-standard street fighting."

"I never said that. Gutter fighting is one of the most efficent forms" Matteo told him. "Hey guys I'm glad your coming, I'm going to pick up some gift's for you"

Acco walked up to the count, he was almost afraid to say this "ummm... count, i am sorry but i have to leave, there are things that need my attention within Spooty, again i'm sorry, i'll find my way out!"

“Well, okay Acco.” said the Count with a what the hell type of face “You were a good student and if you need me, just call. You can come back anytime you want.”

"I don't want a gift," said Migoshi, suddenly moody. "Sorry. I don't like getting gifts."

"Don't be an idiot, Ishi," scowled Akalna. "Ignore him, Matteo. He's just putting on an act."

"Don't call me Ishi," muttered Migoshi, glaring at the road.

A huge fight between Deacon, Maximus Lobo and Nijo was on the news a month after the test. The Count had to tell the students, who those mutants were. The Marauders are a group of mutants, who uses their powers against humans. After defeating Nijo, Deacon made his way to the school. He was badly hurt and recovered at the school. Deacon became a teacher at the school.

Three months have passed after the first real test of the students’ powers. That day, Selene was through secondary mutation because her being hit by lightning and the Count lost a student, Acco. Selene’s hair was longer and pink; it is her real color now. Her roots were now pink because of the secondary mutation. But she did not just gain cool hair; he gained a new set of powers. Ones like her fathers. She can conduct magnetic energy as pulse bolts, force fields, and the manipulation of ferrous materials, absorb electricity to supercharge her own electromagnetic fields. She was training to master these powers, now.

It was December and snow was on the grounds. The students were in the Math class and it was about over.

“All of you know Christmas is coming up.” said Katherine. “The Count has through of a good idea. The last two weeks of December, no school classes but the Training class will be held.”

“Plus this weekend, the Count has something to do in Sibiu.” she added. “So…each one of you will get 5,000 Blood Credits to spend in Sibiu. It will be like a Christmas gift to his students.”

“Sounds cool?” she asked.

"Sounds interesting, so what are traditions here, or at least in this country?" Keira asked.

Vio was busy sketching something on his notepad.

"Like any normal Christmas." said Katherine. "Have a big tree put up and gifts put under it. And a Christmas will be fixed on Christmas day."

"Maybe normal for you, not normal for everyone." Keira replied

Vio finished his drawing, tearing the page out, folding and pocketing it.

"Christmas..." murmured Migoshi. "Sounds good."

Akalna was also looking forward to the Christmas celebrations. "This going to be great," she said, excitedly. "What you drawing, Vio?" She nodded at the piece of paper as Vio tore it from the pad.

“Well…” said Katherine as Deacon walked in. “Morning Blake.” she said

“Morning to you, too.” he said, “The Count has told me to come down here and tell the students something.”

“Well, the floor is yours.” she said.

“Okay.” he said “The Count say to tell you all that, they will not be a class in the Training Arena or the rest of the day. You are free to do anything you want.”

"Nothing really," Vio said, a faint blush appearing on his face, "Just a sketch."

Keira grinned and chuckled very faintly at her brother.

"Cool. Anyone want to do anything?" Matteo said to the room at large

"Let's see," said Akalna, leaning over to Vio's desk and peering at the piece of paper.

"What did you have in mind, Matteo?" asked Migoshi, turning around to face him.

The picture was a stylized picture of Akalna, with a flowered border.

" I don't know, anything. Thats why I'm asking. By the way can I get a look at that Vio" Matteo responded

"I'd say no, but it's Akalna's descision." Vio replied

"Well Akalna what do you say?"Matteo asked her

Akalna looked at the picture, then and Vio. "It's a good picture," she said eventually, smiling slightly. "I didn't know you were such a skilled artist." She paused, then turned to Matteo. "If Vio doesn't want you to see it, then sorry. He drew it, I still think it's his choice."

"Well...If you guys can think of something to do, I have an idea." said Deacon "Take the snowmobiles on a ride."

"I don't know, I never been on a snowmobile before" Matteo said

“Have you drove one of the four-wheelers?” asked Deacon. “It is like that.”

" A quad yes I rode on those. I guess I'll go. anybody else?" Matteo replied

"I'll come." Keira replied

"sure lets go then." Matteo said as he headed for the snowmobiles

"Shouldn't we get suited up first?" Keira asked, "Or do you like freezing?"

"I can make a force field to keep my body heat up and snow off. If you want I can do the same for you" Matteo told her

"The suits are in the building where the snowmobiles are at." said Deacon. "But you will need a coat to walk to 4x4 SUV. I will drive you to the building."

"Thanks Deacon." Keira said

"I'm good I'll just fly over there" Matteo said

"Thanks Deacon." Keira said

"Your welcome." said Deacon "Everybody ready?" he said as he walked to the front doors. In the circle driveway sat a Unimog 416 (http://www.expedition-imports.com/wpe21.jpg) with snow tires. It had room for everybody.

"I'll meet you over there" Matteo said as he flew off

Matteo landed in front of the building and waited for everyone

Sitting in the Unimog, Akalna looked out of the windows as they drove towards the snowmobile building. "How long are we going to get on the snowmobiles, Deacon?" she asked.

Migoshi also sat in the Unimog, hood up, gazing firmly at the floor.
