Future Tech: Getting started.

I'm new to FT, and would like advice in any way.

First, my pop is around 915 Mil.

here is what I have as stats so far:
The Intergalactic Soviet Union of Yugoamerica currently control 15 star systems:
(Note: names are of stars, number is of how many habitable planets)
Carray: 3 (Capital)
Columbia: 4
Alberta: 3
Logan: 1
Riksha: 1
L’Eloma: 1
Insis: 1
Inkva: 2
Zanatu: 3
Xadis: 2
Ix : 1
Caladan : 2
Piux : 3
Vernius : 2
Plato : 1

Yugoamerican Red Fleet:

The Yugoamerican Red Fleet revolves around star-forge fleets. Each fleet has a star-forge. There are currently fifty star-forges, each with corresponding fleets.

Each fleet contains:
One Star-Forge *Battleship* (Liberty-Class)
Twenty fighters
50 plasma guns (anti-Fighter)
10 torpedo tubes (Anti-Capital Ship)
10 missile tubes on each side (extremely powerful vs. Capital ship)
One Carrier (Marx-Class)
60 Plasma Guns
Fifty fighters
2 torpedo tubes
Twenty landing craft
One full army (500 000 men)
Five Battle cruisers (Constantine-Class)
20 Topedo Tubes
10 Plasma Guns
5 Missile tubes on each side
10 fighters

Ten destroyers (Amoco-Class)
30 Plasma Guns
2 Torpedo Tubes
4 Missile Tubes on each side
15 anti-fighter frigates (Innocence-Class)
100 Plasma Guns

Also, there are two other types of ships:

Colony ships (Self-explanatory)

Explorer ships
Modestly armed exploration and science vessels, they scout out the edge of known space for habitable planets.

Fighter Types:
ZXU-V
A fast and deadly space superiority fighter, it is armed with two Plasma guns and a missile tube that can hold 2 missiles.

CV-20
This is a slow and bulky bomber. Luckily, its huge cargo space (twenty missiles worth) makes it worth the lag. It has one front mounted Plasma gun and one turret mounted plasma gun.

Now, how do i find out my FTL speed? Is this enough fleets or do I need More?

As well, here is my first original ship

The Liberty (A Star-Forge, Liberty Class, which is a battleship)

The Bulbs are plasma guns, the grey square are hangar doors, the blue are jump-engines, the green houses the torpedo tubes and the white circles are Missile tubes, used at close ranged like 18th century warfare.

((OC- Looks good. Course with nearly the same population and a liberal amount of long in place forces and expansion plans, as well as 'off the side' nation alliances such as my Ancient Alliances in the Aphotic Galaxy, the Talos Galaxy Inner Sphere, and large colonies over multiple galaxies, I've spread to 5,000 plus Systems.

With no signs of stopping.

So my prefered advice is to not limit yourself. If you can rp it out relatively convincingly, then you can do anything in FT circles. Besides, when you have the 'somewhat-unlimited' resource base and such, then the 'real' fun rps happen, such as the obligatory wars, diplomatic functions, humanitarian efforts, and even celestial matters such as my recent Hikari Power incident and Exile threads.

Remember, FT is about the imagination, and even adjoining parts of existing Sci-Fi to your nation in a way that suits you.

That's why I dumped MT like a cod over a crab boat and went FT like it was a date that ended up as a Vegas marriage. (..kay, nough phrases..)

Remember, one's godmod is another's celestial miracle.

OOC: About these multiple controlled planets. How hard is it?

((OC- Only as hard as you want it. I usually treat it all as behind the scenes stuff. You know the commerce, supply and trade routes exist. You know the planets have cities (usually one or two) on colony worlds, and the central worlds are hyper advanced or city-planet like. And you know that star traffic is there.

Just focus on it once in awhile, or mention it with other aspects in your empire. Also justify it all with some researched tech and such.

The big part is to have fun.))
