You could always pretend to be a n00b with a load of n00ks, and declare nuclear war on the world. That always seems to get people interested. J/K! >_> Heehee.

Hmmm... Other then that... A few real RP ideas.

The three norms, "War (Either Civil, or with another NS pal), Royal Weddings, and Diplomatic Relations building with the other NS players."

If those aren't your style... Hmmm... School type RPs seem to be popular. Just make a thread announcing that someone in your nation is opening a school of somesort. >_>

If you're FT, Pirates are always a nice plot device.

If you're MT/PMT... Hmmm... Perhaps, if you wish, robots gone wild, a la "I, Robot," (Starring Will Smith) and a small group of Mercs, etc. is needed to help put an end to them before they overthrow the government and reign in a new era of forced peace. (Dear heavens no, we can't ever have peace. :P)

Umh... Hmmm... How are those?

If you're MT, we can think up a reason to have a war.

I myself have never played in this particular forum, but I have had some considerable experience doing so on others, but not exactly under the freeform rules of Nation States.

Anyway, my idea consisted of a 'rebel terrorist group' who is actually fully supported by and is pretty much the government moving in on another country. Assassination and threats would be used to make high-ranking officals resign and insert a puppet government and threaten to rip apart the country from the inside by civil war, but it seems that the real rebel terrorist group is not exactly happy for having the government use its name to attack others secretly, and so wages a guerrila campaign against the original government's logisitical supplies, cutting down on the weapons and munitions sent to the fake terrorists. As far as I see it, the player launching the attack wouldn't be evil per se, but rather would be in control of the nation while the general(s) of the army decide to endorse this project, and so it's a race against time to stop the battle before it turns into total war. Then there's another problem, three nukes have been removed from the stockpile and have 'disappeared' on route to dismantlement. Now both governments have to track down the missings nukes, but there's another plot twist. The generals that endorsed the attackings of the other nation were infact paid by that nation to start the war, and all of them have stocks or high-paying positions on key factories that would be heavily relied on in a war situation. So now the governments don't know who to trust, but there's still the problems of the nukes. Two are recovered in a raid on a transport truck on the border, but the third is still at large. The 'terrorist' driving the truck is in fact a terminally ill radiation patient, as the nuclear bomb is in fact a dirty bomb, and intelligence has found out that he's ready to explode it in any of the major cities he can reach. The terrorist is eventually found, but not knowing that it's a dirty bomb until the order for it to be airstriked is given, the bomb explodes on the border of a third country, with radioactive material spread over a wide radius. Now the third country is drawn into this mess and starts launching attacks against the second country, but the first country doesn't get off so light. By a leak by an overzealous reporter, the information that the bomb was in fact from the government leads to a massive surge of support for the real terrorist group, and so a civil war starts. When it seems nothing can get worse, the third nation 'accidentally' (It may or may not be accidental, up to the nation I suppose) fires a missile onto one of the first nation's hospitals, leading to the government to grab this chance to reinstate itself by declaring war on the third nation, supposedly going to 'help' nation 2, but rather just doing it to keep the civil war from continuing. Now there's a all out war between Nation 1, Nation 2 and Nation 3... with the choice for more nations to be drawn in on peacekeeping duty (Whether they actually want to keep the peace or rather want to recon or take the land for themselves).

So by the middle;

Nation 1 and Nation 2 vs Nation 3
Nation 1 'Terrorists' vs Nation 2
Nation 1 vs Nation 1
Nation 2 vs Nation 1

*Whew* I may have gone a bit overboard, but there should be a salavagable idea in there, if you do decide to use it please let me reserve a spot, as I have never played in one before and I would like to learn the ropes.

Made up of diffrent races, elves, humans, and dwarves mainly. Magic,Gods, Run by the Council of Peers because it is composed of different City-States with one rep from each city. Good peace loving but with a strong military. Not sure of tech level. Thats about it

i say make a good RP with something at stake.

Think about terrorism. Thats a pretty good topic. Its easy to make an RP with a bunch of crazy terrorists threatening to nuke ______ and then you have to get an elite crew together and stop them.

How about a surfacing racial tension in your nation, maybe elves vs. dwarves? Or possibly a city-state declaring complete independence? Or, if your nation is religious, a heretic priest rallying support (this idea could be adapted to fit wizards as well)?

It's kinda funny, just yesterday I read a thread about how there haven't been any elves or ethnic cleansings thereof lately. Time to reset the NS standard!
