Today, in a stunning move by newly elected President Jamaros Carter and the Republic Council, the Horizon Democratic Republic was officially disbanded, in favor of the formation of an Empire. In a speech given by the President, he stated the the Republic was boiled down in senseless bureaucracy, and that an Empire would give the people more voice in a stonger government, not to be stopped by trivial details.
At the moment, details of the new government structure are sketchy at best. It is expected, however, that Carter will act as Emporer (whether or not it will be an elected office is under heavy debate, and how the position will be filled is also mysterious), with a large board of advisors from each city, large settlement, and other important venture (CEOs of large corporations are said to have been invited), the advisors will reportably be tasked with a specific ministry, under direct control of the emporer. Former President William Cloudshore retired earlier this year, returning to active duty within the Navy, Carter was soon chosen as a replacement.
In other news, the Parlimian Marines, the official military branch of the Republic, have also been disbanded, and in their place, an Imperial Guard has been formed (consisting mostly of ex-marines). Parlim has been placed in Martial Law until the transition to the new government can be made.
On the military note, a ship of unkown design was seen departing “Thor's Forge”, the huge base devoted to the construction of the massive ships in service with Parlim's navy. The craft is recorded to have been twenty kilometers long, larger than any ship currently in service with the Navy, and have an unusual design when compaired to standing craft. Military sources declined comment.
