Copy of the Declaration of War wired to Monkecia:

Rivick, 8 Jun 05

The Government of the Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Monkecia having threatened the security and lives of Gossainian citizens abroad and having attacked Gossainia with cruise missiles, has compelled the Empire of Gossainia, the Principality of Vlatislavia and the Grand Duchy of Blackinstaff to see to the safeguarding of their rights and interests, and, with this object, to have recourse to force of arms.

His Imperial Majesty’s Government, on behalf of the Empire of Gossainia, the governments of its Viceroyalties and Dominions, the Principality of Vlatislavia and the Grand Duchy of Blackinstaff, declares that henceforward a state of war exists with Monkecia.

Signed,
His Imperial Majesty Emperor Stephen I, Emperor of Gossainia its Viceroyalties and Dominions, Prince of Vlatislavia, Grand Duke of Blackinstaff, Knight of the Harlish Order.

Following this declaration, the Emperor made the following speech to the nation:

“My fellow countrymen, yesterday, we were brutally attacked by the forces of the Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Monkecia. Therefore, I regret to inform you that consequently this country is at war with Monkecia.

We are, in fulfilment of our pledge to stamp out terrorism and those nations who support it, going to force, by military means, Monkecia to stop such practices. We have done all that was possible to settle this dispute peacefully, but the situation is now that Monkecia’s ruler cannot be trusted and no people or country can feel themselves safe with the threat of attack from this haven of insurgents.

We shall be fighting against injustice, oppression, cruelty, persecution and terrorism – and against them I am sure we will triumph. May God bless us all.”

Saoirse, leader of the UnitedIrishmen movement watched the speech from the Emperor of Gossainia from her secret underground base.

'The Empire of Gossainia has never been too fond of our movement, but we do agree on the one point that the threat of Monkecia must be removed from our borders...we will give whatever aid we can to the Gossainian forces.'

The UnitedIrishmen prepare for war.

People of the United Socialist States of Tharlia. It is with grim news that I come before you today, mere hours after our glorious nation mourned our celebrated dead. Today, at 07:45, a cruise missile, designated from the, Democratic Peoples’ Republic of Monkecia attacked a military convoy in the Northern Province of Zkredz. This caused destruction to a nearby town. Many thousands of Tharlians are feared dead. Unfortunately, Intelligence from the KGT suggests that this convoy was returning from the Black Day Parade, and contained a platoon of the Gossainian First Army. It is feared that these foreign nationals will have perished alongside our sons and daughters of Tharlia. It is not yet known whether the missile contained biological agents, but preliminary signs suggest that it was a weapon designed to kill human life, not destroy hardware. This unprovoked attack has only awakened the dragon that is our glorious Armed Forces. I declare, with the combined authority of the civil and military powers vested in me by the people, that this nation is now at a state of COMET 2. I hereby assume command of the people, as ordered in Mandate 34/b. Every Tharlian citizen is ordered to proceed directly to their assembly points for mobilization. Every enlisted man, woman and child is instructed to don their uniform and go to their respective bases. The Black Air Force has been instructed to advance to forward operating bases, and I have personally ordered the Black Banner Fleet to prepare for open war in the high seas.
Comrades, Tharlia has awoken to a terrible destruction, it is our DUTY to avenge our dead. So I command you, in the name of our founding warrior in Communism, TO ARMS!!!

General Secretary Andrenya, Supreme Commander Tharlian Armed Forces, Minister of the Interior.

In an internal telegram, the Commitee of Tharlian Government requests landing rights in Gossainian territory, along with the right to overfly Gossanian airspace. Tharlia stands ready for combat.

His Imperial Majesty's Government grants permission to all its allies at this time of crisis, the use of Gossainian, Vlatislavian and Black-staffian airfields, army bases and airspace.

Meanwhile, a squadron of bomber aircraft take-off in order to destroy key positions in Monkecia. The 4th and 6th Divisions of the Gossainian First Army and the 1st Company of the Vlatislavian Army Group-A are mobilised and begin to make their way to the Monkecian frontier.

Due to the fact the Enemy is an archipelgo, the Fleet sets sail to blockade shipping in and out of Monkecia and shell its cities, if necessary...

A special reception is prepared to welcome the first unit of troops to arrive in Gossainia for the advance.

As the Commander of the Tharlian Guard disembarks, he is met by Reich Marshal Lord Breadon, OSA, DSM, SC, WC, LSM, Chief of the General Staff; Rear Admiral Sir Percy Simmons, OSA, DSM, NC, Deputy Chief of the General Staff; Field Marshal Audrey Wyllcox OSA, SC, VSO, Chief of the Imperial High Command and General Sir Winston Guthering, Gossainian Field Commander. Also present is the Emperor's Own Regiment, who present arms as the Tharlian Commander steps off the transport plane.

The Generals salute, shake hands then, accompanied by the guard of honour, stand to attention for the Gossainian National Anthem followed by that of Tharlia, played by the Royal Guards Regimental Band.

Suddenly the music stops and changes to the traditional Tharlian funeral march. Silently and solomnly, four coffins draped in the Gossainian flag are carred out by Tharlian Guard soldiers in full regimental uniform. The assembled brass slowly realise that this, whilst a glorious day for the USST and Gossainia as allies, is the homecoming for many sons of Gossainia who were lost in the attack on Tharlia. Twenty Tharlian Guard of the Protection wing line up in front of the bearers path, ten on either side. They wear the full black tunic and trousers, with red and yellow flashes down the side creases. Their caps braided with gold and the crest of the Black Dragon. Although so young, many had campaign medals from the Patriotic War dangling, sparkling in the morning sun.
As the first coffin proceeds through the assembly, rifles are raised and fired. Twenty sharp shots are heard as one. On the command of the Sergeant, the empty cases are ejected, allowing them to bounce on the coffin before hitting the floor. This continued for every coffin that passed through them. This simple signal - the traditional Tharlian military funeral drill- showed the assembled dignitaries that these deaths were in service to their country.
The General sharply marched towards his superiors, his right hand behind him as if holding something, before halting.
"Comrade Commissar" He addressed both the Gossainian head and his own chief: "It is with sadness that i present this to you." He presented a torn and burnt Gossainan flag, with the unit citation of the First Gossainian Army. "It was found in the BMP that the Gossainian First Army were travelling in. Tharlia honours the dead of our gallant allies." He saluted and marched back to his men, who saluted him, before bellowing "GLORY TO THARLIA! GLORY TO GOSSAINIA!" in unison, before being marched off the parade square to the Tharlian Battle Hymn. As they marched, Lord Breadon thought to himself that they had made a good choice of Ally for this, a tough and gruelling campaign.

The four coffins were then taken by hatless privates, in full presentation uniform, with the heads bowed and with a black band on the right arm; the traditional attire of Gossainian military pall-bearers. The remains of the dead are taken to Gossainia's Imperial War Cemetary where they are buried with the customary funeral service of all those Gossainians who give their lives for their nation.

Whilst this is happening, the Commanders of the Tharlian Guard are escorted by Lord Breadon and his deputies to the waiting fleet of Rolls Royce Phantom I's, the limousine used by all members of the Gossainian Government. Each has a flag on both its front fenders; on one side the Imperial Forces Ensign, a blue field with crossed swords defaced with a double-headed eagle, and the other, the Tharlian equivalent, in order to welcome our great ally.

This group of arguably the most important people in the Empire at this time of crisis, then begins its journey through the beautiful, tree-lined and architecturally striking streets of Rivick, to the Imperial Palace for an audience with the Emperor.

Meanwhile, the recently arrived Tharlian troops are taken to the Williams Street Barracks where they will be billeted until being sent to the front. Upon their arrival, they are warmly welcomed by the Gossainian troops stationed there, who have already been at the front and are now on leave recovering from the atrocitites they have witnessed the Monkecians commit.

The Tharlian Guard were shocked as to the horrors that the gallant Gossianian servicemen described to them. However, this only made them more determined to avenge the deaths of their own men. Their rest was brief, but they left the Williams street barracks in high spirits. Looking in wonder at the beautiful surroundings of Rivick, they wondered how many would see it's splendour again.

Meanwhile, in the Imperial Palace, the top commanders stood poised over a map of Monkecia. The Tharlian commander was being briefed on the situation. On the whole, the campaign was going well, however there was a pocket of resistance in the South East. General Poparaski, Commander of the Tharlian Guard, stood before the Emperor and spoke, his words slow, but in English.
"Gentlemen, as you well know, the Monkecians have halted the advance of our Allied forces in the South. I propose that this would be the best opportunity for my own country to step in. I hereby propose that the 445th Tharlian Boarderers, with the support of the Black Air Force and 1009th Tank Battalion attack the stronghold at map sector B56. This will be achieved through a pincer movement. We will require Gossainian troops to wipe through this wooded sector as mopping up forces."
The Emperor nodded slowly, then raised himself. As a token of respect, Poparaski bowed his head just enough.
"General," Emperor Stephen addressed "your presence is highly regarded amongst my generals here. They have followed your career with... interest. I agree that this would be the perfect opportunity to use your gallant forces." He turned to Reich Marshal Lord Breadon, who bowed also; "See to it."

The order to move was given, and news crews reported the smiling faces of the Tharlian Guard who marched up the streets to the Air Base. They were on their way to action.

"Now that we have sorted out the little problem of resistance in the south, I think we need to address the thrust towards Deep Monkton." Stated the Emperor. "Field Marshal, have you worked out the details of Operation Haircut?"

"Yes, Sir." (His Imperial Majesty preferring to be addressed as an officer in times of war) She snapped her fingers and a sergeant standing nearby approached quickly, saluted, handed her a leather case, clicked his heals and retreated again to his original position.

"Sufficing General Poparaski does not object, we have made plans for a large offensive which will gain us these two cities here", she says pointing to the map she had removed from the case, "In a short space of time."

She continued, "We will greatly re-inforce the 4th and 6th Divisions and the 1st Company of the Vlatislavian Army Group-A, which are approaching from the south, with Tharlian and Nilot troops. At the same time we will feed information to our double-agents that this is for the main offensive and we will ensure the Monkecians decode our transmissions affirming this to be true.
However, at the sametime, we discretely strengthen the Gossainian and Black-staffian divisions stationed here on the FreeIrish border. The night before the offensive begins, Tharlian and Tswana agents will be dropped into the cities, where they will co-operate with Monkecian Freedom Fighters to sabotage the tank battallion and the aircraft stationed here and here.
The next day, we have set 16 June General, the INV Saviour, our flagship, will begin bombarding this city as it is on the coast, while a combined Tharlian and Gossainian bomber squadron will bomb the other. Hopefully we'll catch the Monkecians off-guard and won't have too much trouble from them."

After a few minutes of consideration, General Poparaski replied, "Yes. I like the idea, but tell me, why name it Operation Haircut?"

"Ah, my dear General, there is more to it than just that!" responded the Emperor, getting excited his idea was gaining momentum.

"Quite Right, Sir. Once the Monkecians realise the main attack is coming from the east and not the south, they will rush re-inforcements to strengthen their positions in our targets. Once this happens, our forces in the south will engage those left behind and will then continue north. Then, the Hatshuputian Army Group-B and the Hinan King Divisions will break-off from the main advance and intercept the retreating Monkecians, trapping them between our two armies!"

"General, I should probably explain about some of forces we are deploying."

"Yes, if you wouldn't mind. Who are the Hatshuputians and Nilots?"

"You see General, fully expecting this to be a difficult campaign, I ordered the mobilisation of the colonial forces. These branches of the Gossainian armed forces arrived from across the globe only a few days ago."

"Brilliant" Poparski uttered "I see my illustrious leader has chosen his allies well. I must admit not to have considered such an offensive to be tactically viable, but comrade, even in my old days as Commander in the Patriotic War, i have not been fortunate enough to serve amongst such tacticians. I accept this plan, and will inform my troops of this movement. May I suggest that my Tharlian Boarderers be put in the thick of the action? After seeing the horrors of Monkecia, many requests have been recieved of Tharlia contributing as much as your good selves to this campaign."

Meanwhile in the field...

The shells flew past Mladishy Serzant Borkz as he dived into a foxhole. The Monkecians were advancing at an extrodinary rate. They fought without honour, but the sheer numbers were difficult to supress. He poked his head out of the foxhole and fired his AK-47 at an advancing troop, cutting down many men. He radioed in to command. Suddenly, a roaring boom echoed overhead as three Su-25 Frogfoot laced the ground with lead and bombs. Finally- Borkz thought- Air Support!! He turned about and was confronted with several Tharlian tanks, firing furiously. The monkecian resistance crumbled soon after. Casualties were relatively light for the day, and spirits soared with every passing hour. They were deffinatly advancing, and the advance was quickening.

"Certainly General, certainly. We would be honoured and relieved if Tharlia, like Gossainia committed itself completely to the campaign." replied the Emperor to Poparski's suggestion. "Let me see then, would it be agreeable to you if the Tharlian Borderers advanced with the Gossainian and Black-staffian divisions from FreeIrishPeople?"

"Yes, I think that's would be satisfactory. I will request tomorrow that Comrade Andrenya send more Tharlian troops to Gossainia immediately."

"Very well then. Shall we continue tomorrow? Good day Gentlemen;- and Ladies, of course." the Emperor quickly corrected himself, realising Field Marshal Wyllcox was glaring at him.

The commanders saluted, then left to inform their officers of Operation Haircut.

That night, after the Gossainian and Tharlian officers had gone to bed, following a rather boisterous welcome party for the new allies, they were awoken by a sound no one expected to hear, especially with the situation the way it was;- an air raid siren.

Soon what was left of a Monkecian bomber squadron appeared over Rivick. Gossainian and FreeIrish pilots scrambled to their jets to intercept the enemy aircraft. However, before they could destroy the squadron, a few of the bombers released their deadly cargo.

The Monkecians managed to hit two hospitals, the Williams Street Barracks and most devastatingly of all; scored a direct hit on the Imperial Palace.
"This is what happens when you under estimate the enemy." Pointed out the Duke of Maurenburg, Minister for War & Defence, who had wanted to defend Rivick with fighter jets, but was over-ruled.

As the Gossainian emergency services rushed to deal with the devastation, the members of His Imperial Majesty's Government and a platoon of the Imperial Guard made their way to the Imperial Palace to find out the fate of the Emperor.

The Imperial Guard, Fire Brigade, Ambulence Service and a large group of civilians who had been sheltering in the nearby Underground station, began to rumage through the rubble in the hope of finding the Royal Family;- or at worst, their remains.

After several hours of search, the Emperor's loyal ministers withdrew to the Chancellery in order to discuss what to do.

"I say we should surrender. Clearly the Monkecians are still strong enough to attack." argued Count Rosenburg, Minister for Domestic Affairs.
"Nonsense. We shall never surrender. This just shows we need to protect our cities better and target the few remaining airfields still operational." Bellowed the Chancellor, thumping his fist on the Cabinet table.
"What's the Constitutional position of our current situation, Tallantyre?" asked William Arthurs, Minister for Information & Media.
"Well, according to the Constitution, should the Emperor become incapacitated, the heir apparant rules as Regent. However, unfortunately, the entire Royal Family was staying at the Palace this week, so I don't Know."
"There's only one thing to do." replied the Chancellor after a few minutes of consideration. "As the head of His Imperial Majesty's Government, I am assuming HIM's powers."
Before the dumbfounded ministers could reply to this, the doors of the Cabinet Room burst open, and Reich Marshal Lord Breadon, accompanied by a fully armed platoon of the Emperor's Own Regiment, shouted, "Tonight's events have proved that you civilians are incapable of running the war. I am therefore placing you under arrest until further notice."

Meanwhile, that evening, Operation Haircut went into action. A combined Tharlian and Gossainian bomber squadron took-off to destroy its targets, opening the way for the big push on Deep Monkton.
"We've just had confirmation that the bombing campaign has started, Sir." said an excited Major Peters to Gen. Sir Winston Guthering, Gossainian Field Commander.
"Good. At dawn then we will advance. Circulate that to the other officers. also, ask that Tharlian General if he can come see me a moment, I need to speak to him."
Major Peters clicked his heels, saluted and withdrew. A few minutes later, the officer commanding the Tharlian troops involved in the Operation entered General Guthering's commandeered office, saluted and began,
"I can only give you a few minutes General, I am currently in conference with my officers."
"I won't keep you long. I thought you should know Operation Haircut has begun. Our joint bomber squadron has left for it's targets, so we advance at dawn", replied Guthering.

"Thats excellent news comrade" the Tharlian General beamed, his many medals shining in the lights of the room. "My Officers in the field report that our advance is quickening under superior numbers. The Third Brigade of the Tharlian Motorized Infantry have reached the outskirts of Monkton, with the support of the 1009th Tank Batallion. One ZnP-74 Interdiction Bomber was lost last night after the crew intercepted a cruise missile. Luckily the crew are safe. This is the first casualty that the Black Air Force has suffered in 14 years, excluding accidents. Anyway, i digress, sir- we will advance. However, i have been instructed by my government to request that the Tharlian Division are ordered to attack first, as shock troops. They stand ready for your illustrious orders. Furthermore, my government has instructed me to express my most profound sympathies for your countrys loss. The USST had pledged to bring the villians who ordered the strike to justice. If you will excuse me, General?" Guthering nodded, then stuck out his hand. Poparski extended his hand and they shook. "To death or glory" Poparski said, saluted, then left.

At dawn, as had been arrangened, the Tharlian Division began the attack which would bring the victorious allies to the enemy capital; Deep Monkton. Shortly after this first wave, the remainder of the forces began their advance. As they moved forward, destroying the few pockets of resistance left by the advancing Tharlians, they saw what was left of the Monkecian army, destroyed by the far superior Tharlian Guard.

It was not long until the Imperial forces met those of their ally, who had taken thousands of prisoners (apathetic to defending an oppressive and corrupt regime), and were now waiting on the coast to be transported across to the island upon which the remains of Monkton sat.
"This shouldn't be a though battle." Pointed out Major Peters
"Yes Sir, those damn Monks aren't much good at fightin'." Replied Sergeant Hals, excited about finishing off the enemy which had damaged Rivick, the symbol of Gossainia, little-knowing the true extent of the chaos caused back home by the raid.

Soon the transport ships came into sight over the horizon; shortly a massive air and sea bombardment would begin which would completely destroy the shattered defences of the now crumbling and desolate city, thus easing the job of the allied forces.
"We'll be sipping champagne in the Consul's office tomorrow night, eh Poparski." laughed Gen. Guthering.
"Indeed, I don't think there will be much trouble in taking the city." Mused the Tharlian commander, studying the city intensely with his binoculars.

After a short journey on board the transport vessels, the Tharlian and Gossainian divisions began to cautiously disembark, fearing mines and snipers. Luckily however, there were no signs of any defence, or Monkecians at all.
Then, just as the transport ships were pulling away from the docks, having safely left the first wave, from appearantly nowhere two Monkecian battalions appeared, charging with covering fire.
"Drive the invaders back into the sea!" shouted one of their officers.

"For Emperor and Gossainia!" bellowed General Guthering, a cry which was echoed through the Gossainian ranks.
"To death or glory" shouted Poparski, this too echoing through the Tharlian Guard.

Poparski drew his service revolver and took up a defensive stance as he threw Guthering to the floor as automatic rounds flew past his head.
"The Monkecians are advancing Poparski!" He bellowed over the din.
"Thank you comrade, i really had not noticed that vital fact." Poparski leaned out of a foxhole and fired into the advancing hoards of troops. Guthering drew his own pistol and fired over the pulpit of the hole. Un-beknownst to them, a press photographer of the Gossainian Press Corps saw the two generals side by side, firing together. He took several photos of the scene, before he too began firing.
Over the horizon, two Tharlian Gunships were flying from the Admiral Schwartkoph Aircraft Carrier. As they approached the beach, they saw the dire scene and comenced firing. Two troopers in the helicopters leaned out of the side and fired their automatic weapons at the Monkecian advance. There were so many of them, but they were slowing! Several Monkecians saw the attack helicopters, but only a select few held the SAM weapons. One aimed and fired. Inside the helicopters, the warning lights ignited and chaff flew out of them in a desperate attempt to avoid the death that was travelling towards them at 3000mph. The attempts were in vain. The missile smashed into the mid rotor housing and exploded, killing the crew on impact. The helicopter, however, continued on its lazy desent until it hit the floor, exploding into thousands of fragments, killing many Monkecians attacking nearby. The initiative siezed, the 1st Platoon countered the Monkecian advance and with overwhelming firepower, they made the Monkecians retreat to the East.

Poparski looked at Guthering, both men dirty and covered in mud, but alive. Many of their charges, however, were not.

Luckily for the allies, now aware of their foolish underestimation of the Monkecians, re-inforcements were arriving. Having reported the surprise attack to the Allied Command on the otherside of the straits, a large Gossainian Fleet, anchored nearby was ordered to "Shell the city to rubble". Soon the massive naval guns were in range, and began to destroy anything which looked like a defensive position, while F-14s, stationed onboard an aircraft carrier, began bombing the city centre and few remaining strategic targets out of range of the ships.

However, a surprise awaited the returning aircraft, a Flight of Monkecian Fighters appeared and attacked, destroying four fully manned aircraft, and causing three others to crash-land.

Despite this setback, the arrival of re-inforcements and the naval bombardment raised the morale of the troops; shocked by the surprise counter-attack. Encouraged by the support, B Company of the Maurenburg Battalion, with the assistance of a Tharlian platoon, managed to break through the Monkecian lines and advance into the suburbs of the desolate enemy capital.

Suffering large casualties at the hands of the Monkecians (desperate their capital should not fall), the remainder of the glorious allied forces soon triumphed and marched to meet the vanguard which had broken through earlier.
"We will have to be careful not to make such a mistake again Comrade" pointed out Poparski.
"Yes, I didn't think the Monkecians capable of such tenacious defence. By the way, thanks for the help back there old boy." Replied Guthering, embarrassed and surprised at his idiotic actions while under fire, as he was renouned for his quick wits at times of crisis.

"Comrade" Poparski uttered, re-holstering his sidearm, "In war we all surprise ourselves. This incident will never be spoken of again." Guthering nodded sagely, and grinned his thanks.

Meanwhile, Sergeant Lanzki of the 334th Tharlian Patriot Patrol, and his squad were creeping quietly through the ruins of Deep Monkton. So far, resistance had been light, and he had not lost many men. However, Lanzki knew that the Monkecians were plotting something huge to stop their inevitable defeat. He held in his hands a Gossainian rifle, superior in range and accuracy to his own issue ZK-74, which he would have to pick up later to return to the armoury vehicle. He saw something move to his left. His squad stopped and squatted down, scanning every possible approach to his position. A crisp shot rang out and echoed around the dessolate buildings. A young trooper went down and clutched his leg, whilst the rest of the squad took a defensive cover around him. "Contact Left!!!" Lanski shouted in his native Tharlian as a barrage of fire spread around him as his men, spotting the threat, opened fire on the attacker. After a firefight of at least five minutes, there was a sickening noice of a bullet striking home, then silence.

As Lanzki approached, he saw the figure in the Monkecian camoflage uniform, lying face down in the rubble. He was very small, and blood leaked from a hole in the helmet at a point where Lanzki couldn't see. He gently rolled over the body, to check for unit identification, and froze. The face looking back at him through dead eyes was of a small boy, at most 13 years old. At his side, there was rifle, a round jammed in the breech, and a radio. Lanzki felt sick and retched in the corner. He vowed that the Monkecians would pay for sending their children into the field.

"Things are looking grim for the Monkecians, Poparski."
"Indeed Comrade."
There was then a brief silence as the two Generals considered what action to take now, having read Sergeant Lanzki's report; firing on anything that moved in a Monkecian uniform was no longer practical.
"This puts us in a difficult position. Should we attack these child soldiers? how can we not?"
"As ruthless as it is, I don't think we have much choice. We can't very well let them attack us" pointed out Guthering.

While the commanders were deciding how to deal with the units of children and old age pensioners (which seemed to be the sole defenders of the city), a combined regiment, searching for any resistance in the occupied areas, made its way cautiously into the centre of Deep Monkton. Every soldier, fully alert, was watching for the slightest movement; everyone feared another ambush.

Due to the difficulty of finding their bearings in the rubble strewn streets, the regiment accidentally came upon the remains of the Monkecian government buildings. Before realising that they had wondered into this enemy zone, they came under fire from the artillery positioned in and around the building housing the Consul's Offices. As the mixed unit scrambled for cover to return fire, five were hit.

The Monkecians, mistaking this for the main attack, had, after fifty minutes, used most of their scarce ammunition. As the fire became less regular, Colonel Sir David Goldstein, commander of the regiment, decided on a dangerous strategy; to attack the offices. The men, enraged at seeing nine of their comrades-at-arms die in front of them in under an hour, were only too pleased to take the risk.

The enemy, realising their mistake, again decreased their fire. It was at this point that the regiment attacked. The scattered unit, having received its orders by radio, charged at the glassless ground floor windows, under covering fire from across the street. Eight grenades cleared a downstairs room, allowing access for one of the platoons. After fourty-five minutes the ground floor had been secured.

Shortly, after suffering several more casualties and the surrender of the fourteen year olds protecting the place, the allied troops gained control of the entire building. The members of the Monkecian Government, who had not fled the city days earlier, were discovered in a cellar, which had been converted into a bunker.

"I am placing you under arrest" said excitedly the Tharlian captain who discovered them.
At the same time, a Gossainian captain, Tharlian major, FreeIrish captain and several NCOs, gathered on the roof for a minute silence on behalf of those who given their lives in the seizure. The hoisting of the Gossainian and Tharlian flags, while a radio message was transmitted to field HQ to inform them of that morning’s event followed this.

The crowd was bustling around Black Square. Military men in their Capital Uniform mingled with factory workers, let out of work early on the condition that they attend the ceremony. The doors to the Government Confrence room opened, and the two standard bearers raised their flags high on the balcony. The crowd fell silent as General Secretary Andrenya walked onto the podium, before speaking:
"Comrades-in-Arms, People of the USST, and indeed the world. Today is a glorious day in our history. I have recieved news that, at 17:45 Eastern Tharlia time, the Government of Monkecia surrendered unconditionally to joint Tharlian and Gossainian forces."
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause, before the Tharlian Anthem was sung. Even Andrenya was impressed with his nation. He had not heard such (unscripted) applause since his formative years as a Presidential Guard during the Patriotic War, 13 years previously. However, he had more to say, so he raised his hands and the crowd gradually returned to silence.
"The Capital of Monkecia has been almost totally obliterated by the Black Air Force, and the Bombardment Wing of the Peoples Army. The Monkecians disgraced themselves by throwing their children into battle, and it is my sad duty to inform you that several of our soldiers had no option but to eliminate this opposition. However, i have a joyous duty to issue this new campaign medal, which will be isued to all returning forces and also to our Gossainian comrades. Tomorrow will be a national holiday. GLORY TO THE USST! GLORY TO OUR COMRADES!"
The crowd again erupted into applause and the Tharlian Anthem was sung in the streets.

His Imperial Majesty, having recovered enough to attend, was released from house arrest by Lord Bredon in order to appear and make a speech on this joyous occasion. He slowly limped out onto the balcony of the Dowager's Palace, his home since the air raid and, with Lord Breadon's gun jabbing him the back, began his specially censored speech:

"People of Gossainia, Vlatislavia, Blackinstaff and the Empire, it is with great pleasure that I announce to you that at 3:47pm Central Mean Time yesterday afternoon, Consul Elizabeth Ffyllos, leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Monkecia, surrendered all her nation's forces unconditionally to General Sir Winston Guthering, Gossainian Field Commander and Comrade General Poparski of the Tharlain Guard."

Here the vast sea of people who had gathered in the centre of Rivick to hear the Emperor's speech burst into applause and cheers. As they quieted down, he continued:
"At this time of great jubilation and excitment, let us not forget those who have given their lives so that the people of Europe can live freely and without fear of attack form this most evil of enemies. With memory of those in our minds, both Gossainian and Tharlian, let us salute with pride and thanks the gallant troops who have brought us to victory."

The excited crowd again broke into cheers, whistles and applause. It was ten minutes before silence could be restored, allowing the Emperor to finish his speech:
"To commemorate this glorious day in our nations history, I hereby declare that tommorrow be a day of celebration and rejoicing, recollection and thanksgiving and a day where you, and I as your Emperor, can thank with a full heart those who so bravely fought on land, on the sea and in the air, and all those civilians who fulfilled their duty, without complaint for the good of the nation, the Empire and the World."

For a third time cheers broke out. The National Anthem was played, and the Emperor 'escorted' back to his temporary residence. For the rest of the day and well into the night, the Gossainian people celebrated in the streets across the Empire.

While the Empire was celebrating, Lord Breadon ordered, "Contact General Secretary Andrenya and our other allies. It's about time we met to discuss what to do about things as they are. Aid and the like."
"Yes, right away sir." Rear Admiral Sir Percy Simmons Minister for Foreign Relations, saluted and withdrew to organise the peace conference.

Get stuffed Rokolev, this is a closed thread so kindly take your pathetic little opinions and stuff them sideways up your arse. If you don't like it i suggest you:
a) Don't read a thread clearly marked closed
b) Express your opinions in a PM to either myself or Gossainia
or
c) Simply find something else to do rather than bitch continually about something that the rest of us find quite enjoyable and is no harm to you.
For God's sake get a life, man.
