OOC: too late to send a band? if so, mine's a mix of Green Day, The Killers, and Jet

IC:

The punk rock band Take 2 can play at the concert. The members are Joe Greyson (guitar/vocals), Billy Duraway (guitar), Cameron Green (bass), and Mike Ryan (drums). They will be arriving on their own private jet.

OOC: At this point, the bands have taken over the show... hee hee... so send them in and get rolling.

Sal's belief: "There are no concerts that cannot be extended through the liberal application of a ton of money". :D

R>S>V>P> by June 30th

-Bill Geldom
Founder of Band Aid

Sal was now using her copy of the invitation as a weapon, berating the hapless executive about the chest and shoulder with it. "See that signature? That's Bill Geldom. Bill Geldom the guy who invited us here, the one who arranged this whole thing. You see that line there? "will last as long as needed". Guess what - it 'needed' go on longer. I don't care if you like it, I don't care if you have to get a whole new crew up here, but so help me if you boobberies try to shut this down before everyone here has gotten sick and tired and deaf from listening I'm going to sue your collective asses so long and hard you're going to need tubes of Preparation-H to brush your teeth DO I MAKE MYSELF ABSOLUTELY CLEAR?"

She relaxed onto her heels, having run the man almost up the wall. "There now. So long as we're all going to be reasonable, they're going to need technical crew, sound checks, and we have to get the light show ready." A quick glance around the room. "Move it people, we have a CONCERT to put on!"

People scrambled to do the helions bidding, lest she land on them with all her claws out.

After Tai managed to cram his tongue back into his mouth and stop drooling, he sat down on the floor of the van. Then, without a word, he stood up and vanished outside. Tired, but having no idea of what to do, he tipped his head back and looked up at the sky.

Damn it, I've got the most amazing woman I've ever met back in there, and I don't have any idea of what to do...

Backstage Malanga's Reggae and Ska Drum Orchestra were setting up all their equipment, of which there was a great deal. The horn sections had three saxophonists, 2 trombonists, and 5 trumpets, also there was 12 percussionists, playing various percussion sets. Also setting up was the 3 piece harmonising vocal section, the bass guitarist and two guitarists. As well as the lead singer Rev. Cob Nesta Marley, plus the harmonicist, keyboarder and Cob's brother Jimmy on the acordian. They were all tuning their instruments and warming themselves up for the biggest performance of their lives. Their message had to be conveyed! They had to express their connection ,through One Love, to the people they were helping. They were ready and now awaited the cue to begin.

Coven Guard reappeared on the stage - a special encore. They warped through the strains of "Gavigan's Bar" followed by "Diggun's Dragons" - and just as suddenly, the music stopped.

"Ladies and gentlemen, a special treat for you tonight... some good friends of ours are here for a jam and slam - so put your hands together for... Malanga's Reggae and Ska Drum Orchestra!"

The curtain came up; the stage slid forward. Coderiada al-Jahfar took two steps towards the Rev. Cob Nesta Marley. "Alright, Reverend, what's the play?"

"well, we'll start with a cover of an old favourite then move through with a song from our Album "Free your Mind" and end with the song we wrote on the way here."

Cob addressed the crowd "Hail! In the name of Jah, the lion of Judah and king of Kings, I say hello to all the world! To the Malanga band is gonna start with a cover, in honour of Bob Marley, my great uncle, who would be 60 this year. This song is our version of 'Africa Unite' "

The horns blared out the first notes of the song.

Africa, Unite
'Cause we're moving right out of Babylon
And we're going to our father's land

How good and how pleasant it would be
Before Jah and man, yeah
To see the unification of all Africans, yeah
As it's been said already let it be done, yeah
We are the children of the Rastaman
We are the children of the Higher Man

So Africa, Unite 'cause the children wanna
come home
Africa, Unite 'cause we're moving right
out of Babylon
And we're grooving to our father's land

How good and how pleasant it would be
Before God and Man
To see the unification of all Rastaman, yeah

As it's been said already let it be done
I tell you who we are under the sun
We are the children of the Rastaman
We are the children of the Higher Man

So, Africa, Unite, Africa, Unite
Unite for the benefit of your people
Unite for it's later than you think
Unite for the benefit of your children
Unite for it's later than you think

Africa awaits its creators, Africa awaiting
its creators
Africa, you're my forefather cornerstone
Unite for the Africans abroad, unite for
the Africans a yard
Africa, Unite

Appaulse rippled across the crowd. "thank you thank you. But remember it is not only Africa that needs to unite, it is the world, the world must unite, unite with itself and unite with each other. Only then will Jah's will be fulfilled and we can all live in harmony and we won't need to hold concerts like this to end poverty, instead we will have concerts like this to celebrate the prosperity of the world. Here is a song from our album "Free Your Mind" it stayed at the top of the Tundwe charts for 48 weeks. It's called War.

Until the philosophy which holds one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there is no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be pursued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywhere is war, me say war

War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight
We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil

"And now a song we wrote for this concert on our journey from Tundwe:"

The drum section started with a slow methodical beat, the entire horn section picked up maracas and joined in, whilst the bassist started a slow backing tune. The keyboardist joined in with a steady two chord rthym.
Then came Rev. Cob Nesta Marley's voice:

"Jah is displeased with the action of the banks
Africa is under the burden of their debt
Why does it fall to the people of the world
to free their brethen from their plight?
Jah knows it should not be down to these great people
It should be the banks, the government and leaders.

When will Africa be free?
When will Africa rejoice?
When will the West love Africa like Africa loves the West?
When will Africa be free?

We all descend from Africa, from our brethen to the east.
Why do we not return to Zion, return to our home?
Leave Babylon and our misery, join in union with Jah's children
Jah's drum beats to the tune of love, the tune of union
Babylon's rivers flow with the blood of Africa,
Instead let the rivers of Zion flow with the liquid of love.

When will Africa be free?
When will Africa rejoice?
When will the West love Africa like Africa loves the West?
When will Africa be free?

The dollar is the God of the West, let it be Jah
Jah will hold all close to him ,to love like all of Jah's children.
Jah is the God of Zion, they live in misery because of lack of dollar
But not lack of human kind, their brethen, brothers and sisters.

When will Africa be free?
When will Africa rejoice?
When will the West love Africa like Africa loves the West?
When will Africa be free?"

Tears were flowing down Cob's face as he stopped his steady skank to address the crowd one last time:

"Jah is the Almighty God, let him come down from Zion to free his children from the shackles of poverty, disease and oppression. I live, Jah Ras Tarafi, Emperor Haile Selassie is Jah, father of the world and his tears must stop.
Thank you everyone for coming to this fantastic event, thank you to Bill Geldom for putting so much effort into it all and thank you to the bands for offering their services but an extra thank you ,in the name of Jah, to Coven Guard! JAH LIVE!

"So, you guys ready?" asked Joe Greyson from backstage, where his group, Take 2, was assembled.

"Hell yeah", said Mike Ryan. "I think it's a good thing we got here late. There are plenty of other bands in front of us."

"Yeah, but you were always the nervous one", said Cameron Green. "I like it better when we're on stage before everyone else."

"To each his own", put in Billy Duraway. "I think it's a good thing that we got here at all."
