Trade, Scientific and Diplomatic Ties Wanted

Kanabia
06-06-2005, 18:55
The Libertarian Communist Union of Kanabia is once more conducting its periodic re-opening of relations to the external world.

We are seeking trade on a good-for-good basis, and the exchange of scientific technologies (OOC: near-future). We reserve the right to reject offers on an ideological basis, however, we are not overly concerned with who we deal with, provided they harbour respect towards human rights. Please, make an offer on what you are interested in trading with us, and we will present ours in turn.

On a related yet somewhat separate note, we would also like to invite dignitaries from all nations to visit us, and discuss opportunities for opening diplomatic relations, an exchange of embassies, and perhaps paving the way for future co-operation between our peoples.

Allies from the former time of the transitionary Socialist Republic will be remembered in all dealings, and will be accorded preferential treatment. (You know who you are)

OOC: How near is near-future? Spacecraft, or simply advanced versions of what we have now? I need to know, I'm interested

IC: We are interested in opening up trade links with you, and are willing to partake in an exchange of technology. As a space-faring nation, we believe that we may not be able to help you on that front, but we can provide you with other technology that may prove useful to you. Is there anything that you specifically require, and what can you offer us in return?

Our interest is mostly luxury goods and agricultural products (and the produce of these, such as certain types of liquor) of various descriptions. Our climate is tropical, so while we can produce surpluses in many crops and live comfortably from them, variety is always nice, and we have much to spare, so why not trade? It only goes to waste otherwise.

However, we have a need of advanced technology...laser equipment, robotics and the like as well as refined radioactives for our space program.

We can trade our aforementioned agricultural surplus, and a large variety of manufactured goods, as well as silver and some other strategic metals.

Indeed, there is something you may be able to provide us. We have methods of producing limited amounts of comparatively high-temperature superconducting fibre, yet it is difficult and time consuming, so the labour is probably better used elsewhere. If you provide us with a supply of this, we can trade a large quantity of an agricultural product of your choice, or perhaps a certain strategic metal? We have a large amount of industrial products on offer, too, so let us know what you may be searching for.

Our agricultural production rate is not as it once was, so the supply of agricutural products to our nation would be that of helping us to recover from a current crisis in that area.

As for your fibre, it is uncertain if we still manufacture such things. The majority of our technology uses bio-neural gel-packs in order to speed up computer processing speeds and decrease response time. However, enquires have found that a number of our older ships still contain such materials that you require. I am certain that there is enough there to provide you with the supply needed, as these ships are to be retired within the next few days anyway. If you wish it, we can also begin a small production quota. All we ask is that you provide us with the foodstuffs, which will be collected by one of our supply ships, and we will supply the materials you require

Excellent. We will ship 3/5 of your food shipment as rice, and the remaining two fifths as various fruits, if this is acceptable. Your ship may collect the supply from the spaceport at Roquefort Communal City. The men serving on the vessel are of course free to explore the city during their stopover if they wish. Thankyou for this opportunity.

The S.E.N Kitehawk will be in orbit soon, and we will transport the foodstuffs to the vessel. Also, they have been given a 48-hour shore leave to enjoy the city. We thank you also for this oppurtunity. The fibre is to be delievered by the Kitehawk as she arrives, in order so that there is no problem with the deal

Excellent. We look forward to future opportunities for co-operation.

OOC: DB tends to align itself with Communist/Socialist democracies, and at least in Modern times has a very strong human rights record (unlike most of the other States in the Federation, which it is distancing itself from... but thats another story).

Before I do anything, I'm just wondering what kind of state Kanabia is? In other words if Kanabia is the sort of State DB would associate itself with.

OOC: Originally Kanabia was a third-world socialist democracy built from the merging of a British and French colony post-WW2. After some time, it achieved a post-industrial level of development and technology, and democracy went to the next level as the state was more or less abolished in an official capacity- along with this, the military was mostly dismantled, as it was no longer needed in any sort of offensive capability. The political system is built upon direct democracy at most levels, with only some elected representatives where necessary in the trade and foreign relations departments. Most voting is done at the workplace or at home via. an indigenous and more secure version of the internet; politics is the profession of every citizen. Essentially, we are anarcho-communist.

OOC: So quite unlike the massive Dyelli Beybian beaurocracy, with it's fairly pointless elected parliament, and oversized Intelligence service which actually runs the country...
Dyelli Beybi isn't fully independent. It's part of a super state, the Federated Klatchian Coast or FKC. It's very left wing, bordering on the Communist, with most companies being well over 50% State owned.

The Klatchian State of Dyelli Beybi would be interested in some form of Diplomatic exchange with the sovereign Nation of Kanabia, while at this time we are not interested in a scientific exchange, we would be interested in negotiating some form of trade treaty.
