"That's it, come on, push! The head is crowning, breath, m'lady, breath!" Tatiana screamed, and then a cry was heard as the doctor took the baby in his arms and gave it to a waiting nurse. She held the baby in a towel, and showed him to Tatiana, who managed to look over at him, despite the pain of her continued labor.
"Yes, m'lady, it's a healthy baby boy," the nurse cooed. She moved away as Tatiana screamed again. The second one was coming now...

Dayan stood beside Tatiana's bed, looking at his sleeping wife. She was absolutely exhausted from the labor, which had lasted close to forty hours. She looked completely drained. Her skin was pale.
The door knocked, and a nurse entered, carrying the two newborns, both asleep. "Here they are, m'lord." Normally, she would have curtsied when speaking to the Emperor, but this time she did not, so focused was she on holding the two babies. Dayan smiled.
"Which one is the eldest?"
"This one, m'lord," she said, gesturing to the one in her right hand. "By fourteen minutes and fifty-six seconds, he is."
"Ah," was the only reply. There was distance in the ages. Succession would be clear.
"You'll be wanting to name them, now?" The doctor, whom Dayan had not noticed till now because he had remained silent, spoke up.
"Yes, of course. The elder shall be called Alexei. The younger, Isaac." Dayan and Tatiana had talked about this earlier, and mutually agreed to drop the usage of names in the Old Tongue. It wouldn't matter, as the Royal Family was the only one in Malkyer to still do so.
"Alexei, and Isaac. May they bring a bright future," said the doctor, recording the names so that they could be transfered to the proper documents as soon as possible.

Official Press Release
The Emperor is pleased to announce the birth of two children, healthy boys. He had no other comment, other than to say that he was not poetic enough to articulate the joy he is feeling right now. His wife, the Empress Tatiana, is at home with their sons. An entire platoon of Palace Guards has been assigned to protect the Empress and the children, though His Majesty's Government has stressed that this is an honor guard, and that there should be no worries that harm may come to the children. The eldest by fifteen minutes, Alexei, has been named Heir Apparent to the Throne.
