Scaling Back the Military

Malkyer
05-06-2005, 02:14
In response to new budget allocations, the Royal Armed Forces of Malkyer will be decreasing the size of all branches (Army [includes National Guard], Air Force [includes Strategic Forces], and Navy [includes Marines and Coast Guard]) and focusing on giving every unit the best traing and equipment possible. The total armed forces will be reduced to roughly six million men divided between the three branches.

The Army will be divided into ten Army Groups, five "active" Groups for foreign action, and five "inactive" Groups acting as reserves. One Army Group will be stationed in each of the Viceroyalties, with the exceptiong being North America, which will have two.

The Navy will be divided into six Fleets, each comprised of two Carrier Battle Groups. Two Fleets will be stationed at each Viceroyalty, with Australia and Africa each having two Fleets. An additional two Fleets will be maintained as reserves under the command of the Coast Guard, to offer quick replacements for lost ships during wartime.

The Marines will maintain their current number of 150,000 soldiers, and remain in their current bases of operation throughout the Commonwealth.

The Airforce will be divided into eight Wings, each made up of several squadrons. Two Wings will be stationed in each Viceroyalty.

The Strategic Forces, having command of the Imperial Commonwealth's strategic nuclear arsenal [Tactical Nuclear Weapons are operated by the Army], will maintain its current command headquarters outside of Anchorage. Officially, there will be no reduction in the arsenal (some 200 ICBMs and other missiles).

The various Colonial Militias, being largely volunteer-fed and receiving private funding from various colonials, will not be affected by these changes.

This reduction in force is meant to sharpen the Royal Armed Forces, and change them from the sledgehammer of the past to the razor of the future. As of yet, it is not believed that there will be any significant increase in the size of the armed forces in the foresable future.

OOC: Here's why I'm doing this. I was answering my daily issues, and one of them was the Military Budgets thing. Thinking to reallocate some money to other parts of the government, I clicked the option to cut military funding, thinking I would decrease by a few billion dollars at most. It wasn't until later that I realized that this meant I spend $0 on the military. Now, I don't go by calculators such as Thirdgeek, but I realize that a lot of people do, and to be fair I've decided to reduce the size of my military and stay away from military RPs for a bit until I get some funding on Thirdgeek. Any current RPs involving my military, such as the one with Colorado and Texas, will not be affected by these changes.
