OOC: ok, I'm going to assume that everyone on here has either played, seen played, or knows someone who has played starcraft. You all with me so far? Good.
Now, since I realised what a disadvantage my troops were at when the enemy had them at range I've decided that I'm going to equip them like the protoss from starcraft. Now follow statistics on the weapons and equipment my troops will be fielding from this point on.(the Xel-Naga may make an appearance, be afraid)
Psy-Blades: Strong blades composed of mental force, capable of cutting through anything, given enough time, the blade is grafted onto the slivers talon and activated by thought, once activated it requires another thought to be de-activated, since the blade is powered by the slivers mind it requires no ammunition, the blade increases the slivers reach by 4 feet.
Shields, infantry: The weakest shields, these are grafted to the slivers back and borne into combat, they can take approximately thirty consecutive hits from a .50 cal MG before failing, after failing it takes 5 minutes for the shields to recharge to full, recharge from damage is equal to five minutes times whatever percentage of the shield remains, these units are recharged on a monthly basis when not in combat, in combat the shields have power for approximately three hours before needing to be recharged, if necessary the shields can be charged from a nuclear sliver, but that is eniffecient and causes extra wear on the shield generator(the nuclear slivers can also boost shield life-spans by charging them as they recieve damage, this makes the shield effectively impenetrable, but after five minutes the generators will overheat and shutdown for approximately one hour.)
Shields, legion: Legion shields are those grafted to the larger breeds of sliver, the overlord, the queen and one other unnamed breed, referred to only as X, these shields are larger and more capable of absorbing damage than infantry shields, being approximately 2.5 times more powerful than the infantry shield, the same limitations that apply to the infantry shield apply to the legion shield, except charge time is boosted to seven minutes from shield failure.
Psy-Bolter: Converts psy energy to physical force, only grafted onto metallic slivers(who recieve a channel of energy from the queen for their bolters) and breed X, which has its own mind to power the weapons, this weapon has a range equal to most medium machine guns and heavy assault rifles, being able to hit a target at nearly 1 mile under the proper conditions(non-moving target the size of a tank, accuracy downgrades signifigantly as motion and size change), while the bolter requires no ammunition, the focusing crystal does wear out after approximately 100 shots, requiring replacement before the bolter can fire again, firing may continue after crystal degradation, but if this occurs the unit has a tendency to malfunction and explode, cataclysmically(krakatoa is a firecraker compared to this)
Psy-chain: A rapid-fire bolter, one of these is mounted on each of the breed X slivers, this has much greater longevity to the focusing crystal, up to three thousand shots, at the expense of size and power usage(it uses more power than a larger bolter because it has to cycle the barrels as well as fire, it's smaller because a smaller focusing crystal is easier to form into the proper shape, since any error over one milimeter makes the crystals erratic, a crystal just over ten milimeters isn't going to be badly affected by these limitations)
Chromsten: This armor is grafted onto the legion slivers, it has the strength of iowa class plating at half the weight and thickness of a similar volume of material.
Psy-blades, missile: the missiles fired by the metallic sliver are biological weapons, they latch onto and attack anything they hit, they now have blades grafted onto their beaks and talons, allowing them to damage armored opponents more effectively.
