The Nation od Riptide Monzarc had been fairly isolationist since it began from a small confederation of territories, many years before now. Since the beginning, the nation had been very mysterious and obscure. A powerful political leader, whom the nation bore namesake, rose in prominance in the territorial negotiations, and desired confederacy into one land.

Riptide was a good public speaker, coming from Malthuse, a small town close to the geographical center of the country. He wooed the simple, smallminded people of the seperate territories to ban together into a single country, with three provinces, each with htree major cities.

From then on, the nation grew, but remained closed to outsiders. Riptide was the leader, with a parliament and seperate provincial governments for the three sections of the country. Small towns along the coast flourished. Though anti-business at first, and incredibly socialist, Riptide slowly let a few corporations take hold in his nation.

He fell in love when he was older, to a beautiful woman named Heather. They had a child, a daughter named Lillith, and for twenty-three years all was well. Riptide was elected Prime Minister over and over again, eventually voluntarily giving up the position, but being mandatorily elected after most of the country shut down in the most massive strike the nation had ever seen.

So it was then that Riptide, still vital in his late seventies, was killed by a fundamental religious group. Riptide had not been religious, and had led a secular nation, giving no breaks to religions. A small group of fanatics took his life from him with a simple bomb.

Not much is known beyond this about the nation, and especially about Riptide himself. While the official name of the nation is Riptide Monzarc, locally many people just call it the Confederacy. What is known is that Heather, the young wife of the aging leader, and mother to their only child, died soon after from grief and alcoholism. That left Lillith, a mature, intelligent, scared little girl of twenty-three years old.

There was no election. Lillith was friends with many of Riptide's friends, and one of them was General Ribassan Rico. Rico lef the Army, Navy, and Air Force of Riptide Monzarc. Though completely unnoteworthy for the region, the military was enough to police the inside of the nation itself.

In a state of shock, grief, anger, and a slight bout of madness, Lillith siezed power in a military coup. She ordered the fanatics caught and tortured slowly to death, and had the military impose Martial Law on all of the nation.

After Lillith got over her grief, she realized what she had done, but did not feel bad for it. She declared herself Supreme Commander of the Nation, an office which contained dictatorial powers. Things ran with a Senate and a Parliament, for a while, but Lillith was the unelected, inoustable ruler.

Eventually, in the course of events, the few corporations that got a foothold into the country swayed her to change government slowly. Allow businesses more freedom, allow CEOs citizenship status, and the like. Slowly, the evonomy of Riptide Monzarc improved, and the measures kept coming. Eventually, all elected Parliamentary and Senate officials were replaced by a Board of Trustees, and what was a Republic became a Corporate Union.

Now, the Board is elected, bu the candidates are selected by current Board Review and the people have to chose between business interests. It is fairly democratic, though there is no Opposition party. The people don't much like this, but they cope, because they have very few political freedoms.

Greed would not accurately describe what drives Lillith Monzarc in her Commandership of the Union. She is also generally enthusiastic about having hte best future and the best standard of living for her people. So, after long last, the Nation of Riptide Monzarc finally opens its borders to internaitonal trade and cooperation with nations in the region.
