As Prime Minister Wales stared at a large World Map on the wall Defense Minister Davis came strolling in.

PM Wales: Ah, Jefferson good to see you.

DM Davis: You wanted to see me sir?

PM Wales: Yes, I was thinking of expanding our influence in the Pacific. Our Marines didn't see any action in Norway or England and they are complaining about being left out.

DM Davis: Okay, well we could attack and seize an island or two.

PM Wales: Excellent plan, but which island? I know let me throw my dart at the map. Were ever it hits is our target.

PM Wales took careful aim and let the brass-tipped dart fly at the wall. When the dart stuck, both men chuckled. On the fifth try PM Wales finally made landfall with his dart.

PM Wales: Hawaii? WOW what luck. I have always wanted to go there.

DM Davis: Well sir, the prestene beaches have given way to pillboxes, defensive walls and wire. Platforms in the ocean guard from naval assault, and the island is overrun with rabid natives hell-bent on killing anyone not from Kreyronia.

PM Wales: Well, in the words of a famous man, "Let it happen Captain". Start the planning. I want full commitment of our Marines and as many ships as can spare. Assemble troops at Okinawa and Fiji for the assault. We will offer a two pronged attack.

DM Davis: Yes sir. We will send our newly formed submarine force to probe the defenses, and I am ordering the satellites to be retasked for observation when I leave here.

PM Wales: Oh and one other thing, send a coded message to Cotland, North Germania, and Layarteb. We don't want them to become alarmed, let them know we aren't coming for there territory.

DM Davis: I sir.

Do not be alarmed at our buildup in the Pacific. We are currently looking to expand our influence in the region by sacking and pillaging one of our neighbors. I can assure you, it is not in any of your territories. We just selected the country at random over a heavy game of darts. We will be moving our troops and the naval armada into position within the next few days.

OOC - How open is this RP? I'm based in the Artic but I guess my Navy could do with some action.

The Empire of of Layarteb maintains a naval port on the islands of Kaua‘i and Ni‘ihau. Given the extreme proximity of the other islands, the EOL will further condemn this action and should any attack be made on said islands, we will retaliate as if it were our capital.

The Empire will watch this situation closely, but will make no offensive moves towards our ally Hawdawg as long as there are no moves towards our Pacific territory of Pitcairn.

Message via Celtayoshi Embassy - Hawdawg

Celtayoshi Naval Forces in the Pacific, namely the Tonga, Tuvalu and Kiribati Island areas have been ordered to allow the passage of Hawdawg forces through the areas, under the condition that all radars be switiched off when within 250km of Celtayoshi Islands. We are not trying to hinder your attack, but having an invasion fleet close to our territories will make our forces jumpy. We hope this compromsie will allow you a more direct passage to Hawaii from Fiji, instead of detouring round our Islands.

Reply to Hawdawg.

We are delighted to have come to an understanding in this issue. It would also be acceptable to fly aircraft using normal radar over our airspace. Should you have any aircraft in need of a safe landing place if they have sustained damage our airfields will be open to you, and our ports can provide temporary accomdation for stricken ships.

Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO)

Okinawa Naval Island

CENTCOM sent down the message to prepare for an invasion. All over the Naval Island things began to happen. Crews readied the ships, filling them with supplies, ammunition, and food. The Eastern Pacific Fleet usually took 8 month extended tours at sea. This was different the men on the Island could sense the tension. Combat readiness drills we common place, but the drills this week took on a new urgency. Command put down a decree, the Fleet must be ready to sail within 7 days. Many things had to be prepared, equipment checked, etc. A daunting task no doubt, six MEF's had to be readied for this mission. The Logistical Staff would work in swing shifts 8 hours on 8 hours off until the Ships were ready to sail.

Fiji Naval Base

The Naval Base in Fiji was not much different than Okinawa. Since no civilians were allowed on the Island, it had been converted into a fulltime military installation. The CENTCOM orders where clear, the one thing Fiji had going for it was the fact only 2 MEF's would be leaving from its port. This allowed for the Support staff to focus on getting the Submarine Fleet to Sea as quickly as possible. This was accomplished in a record time of 28 hours. The SAGSW Rock Island Task Force slipped out of the Sound with SAGD Southern Task Force heading for an observation point off the coast of Hawaii. These two groups would provide vital information to the planners for this invasion.

As Emperor Constantinius was eating his breakfast, Grand Marshal George Bryennius entered the room.

Bryennius knelt low before the emperor and said "Your eminence, our satellites have picked up signs of activity in the Hawdawg harbors on Fiji and Okinawa. They could be preparing to set sail"

"Could they be attempting to invade our empire?" responded the emperor.

"It is quite possible that these fleets could be aimed for us or our ally, the Maritime Republic. Notify the Republic of this situation, and have our forces ready in case of attack.

400 Nautical Miles SW of Hawaii

SAGD slowly krept into position. This was an observation mission. The 24 Dolphin Class Submarines were running silent and at Battle Stations. The Captain's had heard about the Kreynoria Defensive Platforms and they were about to get there first look at what kind of defensive positions they would be up against.

450 Nautical Miles NW of Hawaii

SAGSW moved forward as well. They slid into the deep channel making good time. The 24 Sea Wolf Class Submarines were to probe the Northern Defensive Platforms and take observation data, photos and other general recon information. They were ready for war, running silent as usual listening for the faint echo of any ships or bogeys in the distance.

Only time would tell what lay in front of these Attack Groups.

A reworking of the older Dolphin class SSN (modified Seawolf), and one of the most effective nuclear attack subs out there. It’s slightly larger than its predecessor with modest increases in size, speed, crush depth, and weapons load, and a modest decrease in crew requirements through greater automation. The real improvements in this variant are a significantly improved sonar suite, and improved quieting, making it much harder to be detected, and much more likely to detect an opponent.


I have to leave town until Sunday, so I won't be able to write much else today. I am having to deal with another potential invasion of some newly acquired land in another thread and would like to dispose of that threat before I take this one very much further.

"My lords, we've intercepted a message from Hawdawg to Layarteb. Apparently, this fleet they've been assembling is aiming to take Hawaii!"

Constantinius swore mightily. "Why do they intend to sack our capital?"

The guard answered, "It is a show of force to increase Hawdawg's Pacific influence."

Bryennius immediately broke into a sweat.

"The Hawdawgian forces are experienced from their war against Kriegorgrad. We won't stand a chance. It's impossible!"

"Calm yourself, Bryennius. I don't believe in impossible."

"But my lord, they outnumber us greatly. The few can't stand against the many."

"I could care less about such foolish proverbs. We will announce this to the public this very afternoon. Make sure you mix propaganda into it. Also, order all men and women between the ages of 18 and 24 are to take up arms. Train them as best you can while we still have time."

"Yes sir."

"Also, I wante the seas and beaches mined. Pile up sandbags and barricades, and start digging trenches and foxholes. Fortify the islands as best as we can. Order people to lock up their homes and black out lights at night. Prepare everyone for rationing. Call up the reserves, the National Guard, the police, everyone. Distribute firearms to the common people. Deploy all forces on the islands, and pull back most of the garrisons on Midway and Jarvis Island to defend Hawaii."

How many of these platforms are out there. Are they Jack-up, Pedestal, Free-floating with anchor sets, etc. This will determine the way they are attacked. Also, a 400 meter deep mine-field is impressive, but you have to have channels for your navy and commercial shipping to move through. I am assuming the submersed mines are tethered to chains or cables. More information please.

The mines are tethered down with cables, and there are 3 relatively narrow, well-patrolled lanes for shipping. Ships on patrol include Los Angeles-class submarines, Aegis-class cruisers, and Truxton-class ASW frigates. Also, large drift nets are set among the mines. The platforms each have four cylindrical supports of reinforced titanium alloy. There are a total of 54 platforms.

Captain Kasteel: Sonar, this is the Conn, do we have anything?

Sonar: Conn, Sonar. Sir we have a large network of mines down to 400 meters. We can easily go under the mine belt, but we are showing a large underwater net protecting this Northern shipping lane.

Captain Kasteel: I see, All Stop. Lets examine this a little closer gentlemen.

The Kingfish slowed to a stop outside the heavy perimeter of the mine field. Ballast was jettisoned and the Kingfish slowly rose to periscope depth. The Captain was suprised at what he saw.

Captain Kasteel: Radio, send a coded message to CENTCOM Platforms are heavily guarded by nets, mine field to 400 meters depth and shipping lanes are patroled by several surface combatants.

Sonar: Conn, contact bearing 30 degrees port. Traveling 20 knots. 15,000 yards and closing. Looks like a Los Angeles Class sir.

Conn: Flood tubes three and four. Make our depth 300 feet. Lets get some distance between us and then we will take action.

All aboard the sub men scrambled to handle there duties. Torpedo tubes three and four were flooded. and Tubes one and two were readied for use if need be. The Kingfish turned and headed out to see at an impressive 33 knots.

Conn: Sonar, Conn. Distance and Depth of the bogey.

Sonar: Conn. directly behind us sir. Making 25 knots. Estimated range 13,000 yards. Depth 275 feet.

Conn: They gained some ground on us when we turned for the ocean. Plot a firing solution on that sub. Are tubes one and two ready?

Fire Control: I, sir.

Conn: On my mark hard to port, we shall close the distance and engage. Increase speed to 35 knots. Three, two, one. Mark.

Rudder: I, increasing speed. and turning hard to port.

Conn: Sonar, talk to me.

Sonar: Bearing straight at us sir. Speed 25 knots. Range 11,000 yards and closing awfully fast.

Conn: Is the firing solution ready?

Fire Control: I sir. We have a multiple fan pattern setup. Four fish are ready sir.

Conn: Fire on my mark. Three, two, one. Mark. Fire, Fire, Fire.

Sonar: Four fish away. Running straight and clear. Tracking and acquired target sir.

Conn: Launch countermeasures. Emergency surface, on my mark. Three, two, one. Mark. Emergency surface!!


As the four torpedoes slipped through the water towards its intended target, the SSN Kingfish released four countermeasure pods stirring the water to draw any enemy torpedoes, as they prepared for the emergency surface, which would pull them from the immediate threat of inbound torpedoes.

On board the bridge of the KIS Infiltrator alarm klaxons were going off. Four torpedoes from one of the Hawdawg subs were heading straight toward them. "Evasive action and countermeasures!" shouted the captain over the blare of the klaxons. Two of the torpedoes streaked past the Infiltrator. But the other two hit right on their mark, and dealt heavy damage to the crew quarters section, allowing seawater into the bunks. The screams of the off-duty crewmembers echoed throughout the length of the sub. "Return fire! Give them a half dozen conventional torpedoes and aim a pair of supercavs a few feet above them!" shouted the captain. "At once, sir" resdoned the tactical officer.

OOC: Eh, two torpedoes, and Hawdawg is most likely using Mk-48 ADCAPs, would destroy your submarine. While they have relatively small warheads, they create enough destruction to sink your submarine and allow seawater to enter your submarine quick enough to kill everyone aboard immediately. A Los Angeles can't survive two ADCAPs hitting it. It took only one to sink the Kursk, which was much larger and more powerful than a Los Angeles. Your sub is dead. Anything else would be godmodding.

Conn: Sonar, Report.

Sonar: Two hits sir, she's headed to the bottom. Six inbounds, correction +2 more.

Conn: Ok, I am fairly certain the first six are conventional. The second set my be Supercavs. Rudder on my mark, emergency dive corkscrew evasive maneuver three. Three, two, one. Mark. Dive. Release countermeasures in 5 second intervals. Go, Go, Go!

As the Kingfish dove for her 500 meter depth, the violent spiral motion combined with the jettisoned countermeasure pods confused five of the first wave and the sixth actually turned towards its source and began to seek it as a target. The final two weren't as easily fooled.

Conn: Sonar, talk to me.

Sonar: First six non-threatening. Final two are inbound they have us bracketed sir.

Conn: Hold on men, these are designed to blow in proximity.

As the Kingfish violently turned port and starboard to confuse the torpedoes the first supercav detonated 200 meters to port. The second dove under the ship and went off 250 meters below. The ship rose in the water from the explosion. Lights went dark and emergency power kicked in. As the sailors on the Conn tried to stop the leaks, the Captain called for a damage report.

Conn: Damage, Damage call it out.

Radio: Sir, the (static) is (static) and we lost (static) we will have to (static) before we can (static).

Conn: Damn it Busey, get down there and tell me what the hell is going on.

Lt. Busey: I sir.

Conn: Engine Room.

Engine Room: No breach of reactor. Minimal hull damage. Recommend not running at 500+ meters.

Torpedo Room: Conn, Torpedo Room. One dead sir. Mk-48 shifted off loading tray and pinned Ens. Taylor. Tube one damaged. Tubes 2-4 loaded and ready sir.

Sonar: Conn, sonar. Minor damage. All equipment operational.

Rudder: Sir. right bow plane is damaged. That is all.

Radio: Conn, this is Busey.

Conn: Go ahead.

Radio: Sir, two dead from steam pipe explosions. Antennea array is out of action. We will have to return to 50 feet to send and recieve satellite messages.

Conn: Very well Busey. Return to your post. Rudder set your depth at 300 feet. 30 knots NNE we will run the channel back to the Attack Group. Sonar watch for bogeys, that sub may have got off a message before we got them.

The Kingfish slipped into the deep channel and skirted the islands returning to the prestaging point of the Attack Group.



OOC: Okay that is it for me in this thread tonight. Until tomorrow.

Just before the Infiltrator finally died, a short message was sent to Naval Command: Hawdawg subs scouting by northern platforms.

Lord Admiral Valius Theodosius sent out a command for 120 SH-60B anti-submarine choppers to fly to the northern platforms and fire off a random spread of torpedoes and depth charges, and for the platforms to do so. A task group of 16 Los Angeles-class and 2 Sea Wolf-class submarines to search out and destroy any Hawdawgian submarines.

The Empire of Carthage stands united in it's call for the end of hostilities against Kreynoria. The Justification of this war is insanely stupid at best. Yes, Kreynoria may be a bit over-religious, but that is no reason to invade them. If Hawdawg does not cease it's war within 24 hours(OOC: When Hawdawg next logs on :/), we will take action. Even though Hawdawg is a confederacy member, this act of sensless agression must be stopped.

OOC: I'm serious, too. And don't think that you can swat me aside. After a country reaches about 1.5 billion, you really can't push 'em around any more.

On the Topic of Hogsweat: He had already gone to war against Elephantum, our dear ally, and was preparing to do so once again. He had openly declared war on us once again, and was deemed a threat to the people. We were acting in the defence of our nation and to free the people of Saudi Arabia(OOC: as you know, religion is basically spit on by Communist Governments, and guess what Hogsweat was? Now, if you take into account Saudis are very religious...). Something tells me that Kreynoria hasn't invaded you, doesn't pose a threat, and isn't preparing to bomb your cities(or at least wasn't until you attacked them). We are also a substantial military force on this Earth, and we will do what we want with it. HOWEVER, we believe that simple negotiations will quickly fix this problem, and then everyone can go home.

Only if I petitioned the Confederacy for assistance. Since I am the agressor nation in the first conflict, TLS's argument would probably be he was trying to be do the right thing and repel my agression from a smaller ally of his. The last time I attacked a member of the Confederacy, I resigned from the group before I did so, as to defuse the potential powder keg. But you are right it could play out that way, but I wasn't planning on asking for help from the group, that would be ally wanking to some extent in my opinion.


To everyone on E II that is listed as participants in the war: I am merely trying to stir the pot a little bit with this RP, don't get upset at me. I just think the war needed stirring a bit. Too many people are setting on their hands and not doing much.

As the first information started to flow into the data control center the Data Officer printed the information from the Kingfish and rushed it to Defense Minister Davis's office.

DM Davis: Thank you Lt.

Data Officer: (salute) Yes, sir!

DM Davis: Oh my these defenses are much more formitable than I expected. This might be a problem.

DM Davis dialed Prime Minister Wales to inform him of this data.

DM Davis: Prime Minister, we have the first reports from the Kingfish on the Defensive state of Kreynoria.

PM Wales: Go on.

DM Davis: These platforms are ringed with an impressive display of weaponry. The main problem is the defensive mooring mines laid out around the island chain. The minefield is 400 meters deep and nets are also intermingled with these devices. The platforms themselves are formitable defense bases and are hardened from undersea attack. I would recommend a combination of bunker buster bombs and napalm on the platforms. This should neutralize them. The minefield opens another problem. Without proper time to eliminate these fields the only routes into the islands are through 3 narrow shipping lanes, which is patrolled daily by minor surface combatants. I suggest we either cluster bomb or use general bombs to clear the fields sir.

PM Wales: I hate to spoil your party Davis, but certain political pressures are growing against our plans. Kreynoria has stirred a great deal of sympathy in the international community and is building quite an impressive list of sympathizers for there cause. Oh and dispatch Submarine Attack Group Santa Fe from Cardiff to assist with the blockage of the Huahinian Navy in Canada. I am sure the Cott's could use some help from this group.

As Prime Minister Wales was enjoying the rerun of Cheer's on the television an aide came bolting into the room.

Aide: Sir, terrible news terrible news!!

PM Wales: Spell it out man!

Aide: Its Defense Minister Davis sir, he had a heart attack about an hour ago during his midday walk.

PM Wales: Have the taken him to the hospital?

Aide: I am afraid it is much worse sir, he lay in the park for at least twenty minutes before anyone found him. He's dead sir.

PM Wales: Oh my God! I feel like a ship without a rudder. What to do!

As the Prime Minister openly wept for the loss of such a great friend and colleague, thoughts began to race through his head.

PM Wales: Call Undersecretary Wells, and tell him I need to see him immediately.

Twenty minutes later.......................


UnderSecretary Wells knocked on the door and heard a somber "come in" on the inside.

PM Wales: As you have most certainly heard Wells, DM Davis died just a little while ago. We have suffered a tragic loss in our Government for sure. I have brought you here for several reasons, the first is to appoint you as Defense Minister.

Wells: Thank you sir, I will try to fill the shoes of our esteemed colleague Davis.

PM Wales: The second thing I must ask is what is your feelings on the Kreynorian Invasion?

Wells: I am concerned sir, we lost the major planner on this event in DM Davis. With all the things I am going to have to pick up over the next few months, I don't see me being able to fully phathom both this attack and this position.

PM Wales: I must trust your judgement since you are the senior representative from our Defense Department at this time. This is a most in opportune event, I was looking forward to this. It is probably for the better, with the international heat we have recieved over the last few days, we probably would have an extremely difficult time taking the islands anyway. Many nations have pledged naval forces to intervene and I think we would have suffered many losses before we hit the beach. The defensive posture of the island leads me to think this.

Wells: I think this is the better part of valor sir. While we have lost some political collateral, I think I have a way to earn some of it back.

PM Wales: Go on, I am listening.

DM Wells: Simply put sir, DM Davis was a great man but he is dead, he held a lifetime appointment as Defense Minister. We can lay the attack off on him as his entire plan and little play toy. Since he held this type of position, no one can argue the influence he would have had in the decision to attack Kreynoria. Besides he is dead, so he can't argue the point otherwise.

PM Wales: I think you have stumbled onto something there Wells I will hold a press conference this afternoon.

Thank you, fellow Hawdawgians, I am sad to report that at 3pm today Defense Minister Jefferson Davis died from a heart attack while strolling in Mankie Park. I am saddened beyond believe as our nation has lost a man of patriotism, beliefs, and conviction. We will officially morn the passing of this great man starting tomorrow and for one week all flags will fly at half staff at all government buildings throughout the Empire. May god rest his beloved soul.

As a consequence of DM Davis death, the main proponent of the Invasion of Kreynoria has passed. DM Davis alone called for the invasion of this tiny country for glory and self-centered thrills and I went along with him, against my better wishes. This incident spiraled out of control and became a black eye for the Defense Minister. I have appointed Undersecretary Gordon Wells to fill the Office of Defense Minister and his first act as Minister will be to stand down our troops and order a cease and desist order. As of 5pm hostilities against the Island Nation of Kreynoria will cease, as ordered by DM Wells and myself. Always looking for a positive this death, while tragic, should bring a much needed peace to this region of the Pacific.

In Kreynoria, with the apparent cessation of hostilities with Hawdawg, the people were in ecstasy. The media sent the message everywhere, "God has smote the aggressors." The Emperor made several speeches. All across the nation, there were parades, rallies, and celebrations. The night sky was lit with fireworks. The dead sailors of Infiltrator were given heroes' funerals, and work was immediately begun on a new submarine to replace the lost Infiltrator. This submarine would be the Providence. An unencrypted message was sent to the government of Hawdawg, thanking DM Wells for his decision of peace, not war.
