Jonothan Remarque, Amatron's best-known columnist and political analyst, strides to the podium to ask a question.

"This question is initially directed to President Baccheus," he begins. "Sir, the United Nations has described your government as 'a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked . . . morass' and your politics as 'strong[ly] anti-business.' What are your plans to streamline your government, should you be reelected, and to remove the vast amounts of red tape that stifle efficient government in Carthagenian Athens? Additionally, do you have any plans to improve Carthagenian Athens's economy by adopting a more business-friendly economic policy?"

George Koult, Undelian foreign correspondent for the Undelian News Network, after hearing Remarque’s question chimes in. “Yes, tell us how you justify your blatant contempt for corporations and obviously your people’s well-being by extension?”

OOC: Yes, Rotovia operates under a mutli-party system and elections are normally won by a minority government.

SIDENOTE: THIS IS THE ROTOVIAN FEDERAL PRESIDENTIAL ELECTORAL DEBATE.

At this point, Remarque, out of fairness, points out that civil rights and political freedoms are both unheard of in Undelia. Therefore Undelia is not a nation to lecture anyone on contempt for "people’s well-being."

"I remind you an all Rotovians that my nation has the lowest un-employment rate in our region. One of the key reasons for this, is our ability to maintain a strong and stable federal bereaucracy to ensure consistent employment. Whilst I remain dedicated reducing the overall costs of running my government, I can assure that if you are looking for someone to put millions of people out of work, you are voting for the wrong man.

You accuse me of being anti-bussiness? I prefer to be considered as pro-Rotovian. Yes, I believe that a lower cost of living and higher quality of life is more important the ability of large corporations to increase their profit margins. That said I do understand and respect the importance of a thriving free market economy.

I believe that I should be re-elected based upon the fact that my so-called anti-bussiness polices have brought Rotovian to it's highest level of economic prosperity to date"

"There is nothing I place higher than my people's wellbeing, not even my own life. I believe it is a myth that in order to foster a thriving economy one must ignore the needs of one's people. I will continue to promote the right of my people to live a joyous and free lifestyle whilst maintaining a focus on economic prosperity. And let me make it quite clear that prosperity means to me that noone, NOONE gets left behind"

President Dionysus Baccheus

Koult furiously scribbles something in his notepad.
“Question to Senator Crusch, as a Conservative how would you fix the awful economic situation of your nation?”

OOC: quick question . . . I used Carthagenian Athens's economy stats and UN data to come up with a starting point for my questions. When I punch Rotovia into the NS nation search box, I get the "nation cannot be found" message. If you're not actually Carthagenian Athens, which nation stats should we use to base questions from? Alternately, you could give us a little background on the important issues in the election so we have a starting point to write questions.

OOC: Rotovia was deleted after an incident I can't comment on, Carthagenian Athens is a puppet of mine I forgot to log out of. Please use the new thread. The primary issues are Cretian Rights; the government refuse to give intdependence to a colony it controls which has elected a communist government. The Trade Defecit: which currently stands at $745 Billion per annum. And severe widespread electerol fraud by the Conservative Party.
