Hong Kong, DX, Upper Xen (AP)-
Today, President Gordon Lew has signed a bill into law, annexing Northern Australia and North Island, NZ as the new territory of Xenizen North Oceania.
The move today comes after a successful five week campaign in northern Australia, which forced the capitualition of John Howard as Prime Minister. Mr. Howard will now serve as the Civil Administrator of the new territory, and he is allowed to keep many of his own ministers. However, a new Governor-General and Governing Council, installed by the Act, must approve all of Mr. Howard's decisions that concern major trade, political or defense matters. All other regular administrative functions that deal with local issues of taxation, and law and order, and any other powers not given to the Council are still under his control.
A new Xenizen North Oceanian Army Corps, Army Air Corps, and Navy under a local North Oceanian Command will be formed to defend the territory. Recruitment and administration have already begun, and local production of arms and supplies is being set up.
The languages of the new territory are to be English, Cantonese Chinese, Japanese, and Borderworlder. In addition, the existing flag of Australia will be kept, but the British flag replaced with the Xenizen National Flag.
In addition, the Xenizen Armed Forces will begin construction of military bases in the area. Trade has been liberalized, and word has it that immigration restrictions to North Oceania are now officially near nil for citizens of Upper Xen proper (North Oceanians are to be considered citizens of UX). A new low tax policy has been instituted to allow foreign non-Xenizen investment in the area, as well.
