This is is guys. All those on the sign up thread can take part. ANd if you didnt post on the sign up thread, TG me and I will try to get you in. Basically, training will now begin.

----------------------------------

"Parade, Shun! Parade, Stand at, Ease! Parade Shun! Parade, Stand at Ease! GOOD MORNING"

Flight Sargeant Alexander Nivsky bellowed out into the crisp morning air of Kazakhstania. A bunch of cadets in formation stood in front of him, donning their civilian clothing. Most looked like they didn't get much sleep, or missed their morning coffee. It was 6.30 a.m. after all.

He looked at them in front of him. Ages ranged from 18 to 38, and there was a wide variety of faces. He liked the idea of commanding a Colonel then - he hadn't done that before.

"This morning, I am going to asses what kind of shape you are all in, through a variety of physical tasks. We will follow this up with some classroom work, and maybe hit the pistol range tonight - late. But first, I wan't to find out if there are any questions involving this course. So, any questions!?"

Victen raised a hand "Can we go back to bed?" He asked as he looked like he needed another few hours of sleep.

OOC: This is my alternate nation, a puppet if you wish. No, I couldn't think of a better nation name.

IC:

"No, you cannot, Private Victen! If you aren't awake after a nice run, then the industrial strength coffee in the canteen is sure to wake you up. Any more, seinsible questions?"

Nivsky made a mental note to keep an eye on Victen. Maybe get him up especially early the next morning or something. He'd get used to it.

One particular recruit (much shorter and greener than average) grumbled something along the lines of "Pistolz iz fer wusez" while fumbling with his ax holster.
The Goblin is dressed up in what might, at best, be called primitive attire. However, he is currently at the height of fashion back in Blood Moon. Leather and chain mail are very popular.

OOC: Having to go away for a few days, so when I come home I'll really get started. Until then, please don't take my silence as that of a person no longer interested in taking part

The parade in front of him still looked dazzled fromt he early morning. Time to wake them up.

"No more questions? Good. Right, run to the catering block over by the road, grab a pair of trainers of the appropriate size and meet back out here in less than five minutes. We are going running. Fall, Out!"

Victen jogged over to the logistics office and got a pair of shoes in the right size. He then came back to the parade grounds, got the shoes on, and laced up, then began stretching.

As Victen got done stretching he asked "How far are we running?"

Smart ass kid, back here so quick.

"Nothing much, your regular three mile morning run. Up over that hill and back again." He replied, pointing to the thousand feet high Mersberg Mountain in the training area.

"Do we at least get something to eat first?" Victen asked

"You'll get something when you get back, if you lucky. If you pass out or stop at any point, you'll have to wait until dinner. Now shut up and stretch."

A elf comes running to the training field
"Sorry I'm late, some security issues in my contry. Whats on the agenda for today?"

"I'm Victin McKlenan, and according to this person who woke us up too early, we're going on a three mile run up that hill." Victen replied pointing to the thousand foot hill.

Kerg inspected 'that hill'.
"Dats definitly a hill dere. By free miles joo mean free miles up 'n down, right?"
The Goblin glares out of the corner of his eye at the newly arrived Elf. No doubt many of his fellow recruits are thinking about 'racial tensions'.
'That hill' might prove to be a bit of a challenge, Kerg thought, lots of sharp dropoffs and falling rocks and suchlike.

"Is this it for the run?" asked the Sargeant as others arrived. "Well hey, lets get started. On me ladies, we are gona go niice and slow in case you pass out on me. Right, come on."

Nivsky was tempted to start off at a frighteningly fast pace, but decided agaisnt it. They were foreign, after all. So, off he jogged, up the slowly increasing gradient of the hill.

Vladamir, skinny and non athletic as he was, jogged up the hill behind the sargeant. When the sargeant wasn't looking, he quickly took out a small piece of cake that he had saved from a few nights before, still fresh and wrapped in a napkin. He was indeed starving but felt guilty to eat it all himself.

" Hey you guys!" he whispered to the cadets around him, " Wanna piece?"

David Rodriguez, the main Snake Eater trooper in this section of cadets, kept his eyes up ahead, but risked glancing down at the slice of cake in Vladamir's hand. He simply grunted slightly,"Cake? What good's that gonna do you at this time of the morning? Save it till after breakfast, it'll taste much better then"

Slyvan keeps up with the sergant without breathing hard or breaking a sweat.
"Hey sarge, can we speed it up a little bit?"

Vladamir nearly chokes on the cake in suprise of Slyvan's comment.

What did I do to get stuck with this bunch of moaners? Someone please tell me... except that Slyvan... he seems to know what he's doing

"Slyvan is right, we should show him how good we are. If we don't, then we have no right to actually be here"

The Sargeantr heard the muttering behind, but didn't take a glance. He would let them fight it out, some team tension is always a good thing. However, he did pick up the pace a bit on a touch of flat ground. See them keep up with him.

Victen speed up, keeping pace with the sargent. For all his gripping about getting up early, he didn't have a problem with lack of sleep.

Cougar was thus far unimpressed with what he had seen. He was easily keeping pace with the Sergeant (who if anything was holding him back), and really, he didn't respect his authority at all. Colonel James Cougar hadn't got to where he was by the age of twenty-six by doing exactly what he was told.

You're trying to mold elite soliders, and using classrooms is going to get it done? Please. You need field expierence... that it was what makes a solider truly elite. Best way to start; drop them off, and make them get back to base by nightfall. If they don't, they fail.

Slyvan had no trouble keeping up with the sergant.

"Hey, why don't we just head there at our own pace to see who the best truely is" He then said "Also are there any forest on the path?"

" What kind of stupid question is that?!" Vladamir hissed as he fought to keep up. " I cant even-" he took a gasping breath " I cant even keep up"

The Sargeant looked back at the various abilities. It seemed some people didn't see that this was an endurance course. In the field, it's not one skill, for example escape and evasion, but a myriad of skills. One of these is endurance, and believe it or not, early mornings and late nights. You cant do anything if you sleep all the time.

"We will work at this pace. If you can't keep up, then tough. If you can...this is jsut a teaser. Tommorow, the real fun begins. Forced marches, people."
Theao

"So sargent, how far have we come already?" Victen asked
Snake Eaters
06-06-2005, 16:50
OOC: I take it you're referring to my Colonel not being impressed. Also, I never said E & E was the main skill, endurance is needed... but three miles is no endurance test. I can do that easily. Forced marches... depends on the terrain.

And just for good measure, heres what SESOU guys have to go through to get into the unit: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=424106

It seemed they had reached the top of the hill. The peak offered great views down and around the camp, and extending out to the great marshes beyond. But for now there was no time to admire the view. They had to get back down the hill.....they had a timetable to keep.

As it was downhill, the pace was increased twofold. The warm-up was intended to tire them out, long before the proper endurance events took place. The Sargeant bounced down the slope, getting warier of the Colonel beihind him looking increasingly impatient.

Victen continued running, not tired from the course yet.
