"The probe has just broken through the Galaxies' barrier. It's about to drop into the nearest system."
The room was big and dimly lit with red lights. The walls were screens in which consoles were attached, which showed status readouts and footage from probes launched into unknown areas of space. In the middle of the room, there was a podium, where a man sat, in full Fleet Uniform. On his shoulder, two gold Strips could be seen, indicating he was an Admiral.
"Good, once it's dropped out of Subspace, have it send out a map pulse, and get some footage of the nearby space. And make sure to get some radio intercepts if there are any." The Admiral ordered. His face was shadowed by his Fleet Cap.
"Yes sir." The Operator, or the person who appeared to be operating the probe, turned to the screen. On the screen, the great tunnel of Subspace subsided, and space could be seen. The vast black tapestry with little white sequins on.
Hitting a few buttons, the Operator watched as the probe began to turn.
"Okay, initiating standard sweep..."

The probe was a pitifully small object, a mere 20 metre cylinder with maneuvering jets and a Subspace drive. As it slowly drifted through space a small camera emerged from the hull, and flashed a few times.
Completely harmless...
Then the probe exploded open in a violent fury.As the hull drifted away, millions of components emerged and flexed out. Turbolasers, Flak Cannons, and two Beam Grids, along with lots of imaging equipment, sensors, and a large Shield Generator and a transponder at it's core. When the whole process was complete, the probe was now about 400m wide and high.
A large orb stretched out of the probe. Crackling with energy, it thrummed, wnating to unleash it's power. After a few seconds, the orb flashed...
...And a large purple sphere of energy exploded outward at near light speed. As the sphere traversed space, the probe recorded everything and converted it into a map.

The Operator smiled smugly.
"Map pulse fired. We'll get a full map within the hour, activating radio wave interceptor..."
OOC: Over to you Klonor. Obviously, soon the pulse will go past the planets in the system, as well as any ships. What will happen is your ships will lose power for a brief moment, and then regain it. Same will be true with anything with power, so planets will experience a brief power loss. The source will be painfully obvious, and you'll see it coming.
