As of 11:00 Am london time today the The Republic of C_Briston Ceased to exist when it's then President signed a set of documents outlining its terms of surrender to The Holy Dominion Of The Immortal Emperor.
Relations between these neighboring states have never been good and fighting along the border between rival settlers has occurred on numerous occasions. But in recent months as great calm had prevailed and it was hoped that a permanent resolution was in sight. The incident some are calling 'the two hour war' changed the situation beyond all recognition.
Late last night rouge elements of the Dominions 'Imperial Guard' Infiltrated and seized control of C_Bristons capitol city of White Mist. A short and violent shoot out with police and Republic armed forces followed. After two hours, the fighting was over and the president was in the hands of the attacking Dominion troops.
All lines of transportation into and out of the mountain top city had been cut and the Republican army was forced to watch impotently as the president signed the documents that turned over all territory and government property in the nation to the control of the Immortal Emperor.
All though the Immortal Emperor has avowed that these men and women acted without orders he has also stated that he intends to abide by the terms of the surrender and plans to bring the region under the Dominions direct control within six months. As almost half of the Republic army has disappeared into the countries mountains whether or not he will be able to accomplish this remains to be seen.
While the exact details of the surrender have not been disclosed a reliable source has indicated that there is a specific section proscribing the Dominion army from resettling the area or engaging in any hostile action towards the former civilians of the republic. Most of the people we were able to talk to said that they were rather ambivalent about the situation and also stated that unless there is a major decline in living conditions they do not intend to resist the change of government. This is the first time such a swift well executed annexation has occurred in decades and it has many of the Dominions neighbors looking to their borders.
