[OOC] Guide to a Future Tech Macabee Empire

The Macabees

[Purpose of this thread:]
Simply put, this is to be the out of character thread for all of my future tech threads, as well as a technological and government factbook. You can tag this, post here, do anything you'd like, except for actual in-character posts.

Yes, I still role play modern tech, and most of my role plays will be modern technology. However, after watching Star Wars Episode III midnight wenesday, as well as the Chronicles of Riddick, I am deeply interested in starting a Future Tech saga.

[Threads I'm Currently Participating In:]
The Galaxial Winds Stir [FT Introduction] (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=421296) - Started by The Macabees .::. The First Civil War.

[Ordnance:]
This will be released here as it is released in my role plays. Accordingly, it won't all just be released at one time. Because my descriptions are planned to be rather lengthy I plan to write up a new post for each one. Ergo, the link to said post will be linked here so that you can look it up if you have any questions about my technology. You can also critisize on this thread, however, this is not a storefront.

Yeah! Another guys who's seen Episode III. What about it [along with COR] made you think about trying FT?

I thought massive galaxial conquests would be enticing. I'm hoping for some awsome wars. More than that, a lot of the future tech on these forums that I've seen are copies off Star Wars - I think its time to start something original...such as massive galaxial conquests. :p

(OOC: Sooo, how do you want people to respond to this?)

Soon enough I'm going to post the description of preliminary battles between reconaissance units of the Republic and the major forces of the rebels. That should startle anybody keeping an eye on this system.

Maybe this will be a good time to introduce my FT nation.

Unfortunately, I'll be in Spain this summer, where I wont have a computer, and I'll be to drunk to go to Madrid and chill at the internet cafes.

No clue, at some point I plan to begin my own future tech alliance. However, I don't know how open the alliance would be to yourself, or how you would be open to the alliance.

Regarding already existant alliance, I have no clue.

Hehe, actually, I will be giving my password to another nation while I'm in Spain. But not to RP, just to make sure that I don't get deleted.

Hey, my FT nation is original. We're not all dead.

I don't mean the nations themselves are gone, I just mean activity is down the drain. You're lucky to get one real, quality original FT RP every couple weeks (though there are exceptions, they mostly interact with the Star Wars nations). That's a far cry from the days of the Shivan Wars and their ilk.

Well, if you want, you can join my role play. It's open to all, and hopefully, will come out well.

Well...er...

*Shifty eyes*

I'm technically not supposed to be here as I've been dodging actually starting an RP I promised I'd do with someone for a week or so...

[Ghost Fighter - Class 001]

[Frame Construction]
The Ghost Fighter, being a highly advance design, is outfitted with a twelve ribbed main frame construction design. Following standard practice by Macabee engineers throughout the history of the existance of this race, the ribs are constructed of titanium, a relatively light, but relatively strong substance. However, the ribs are not placed to establish some sort of armor on the Ghost, instead the strength of the ribs are designed to that they may better support the chassis of the frame, and subsequently, withstand whichever blows may befall said chassis in actually warfare. It is to say, the titanium ribs are there much like flying butresses are placed in the construction of Gothic Cathedrals - for support.

The chassis of the Ghost is designed from a newer polymer composite called Garvonex, which is a Macabee design. The principle component is a plastic cast woven around a matrix, giving it the strength it needs to support rapid acceleration in space and in planetary atmospheres. The plastic cast is reinforced with strands of titanium and of vanadium, the former being an important and strong metallic substance, and the latter being an even stronger, but equally as light, metallic composite. With this said, the chassis of a Ghost can withstand light laser cannon fire and still escape relatively unscathed. Although in a heated exchange it is likely to be destroyed, this is important to know in sharp melees where there might only be one or two hits.

The chassis is also glossed over with a metallic colored substance which acts to spread the power of a ion blast. The idea behind this is to disperse the electronic pulse and then reflect it, consequently, it acts as a hardener against ion blasts. In that way, the electronics of the aircraft will face lesser damage than a fighter without said protection.

[Crew]
The Ghost has a crew of one. Neuron transponders working with the pilot can automatically activate weapon systems according to flash messages from the central nervous system of the human pilot. It is to say, the weapons, including lasers and ion cannons, are largely automated, and work in cooperation with neural activity in the subject pilot, as well as the electronic support and detection measures of the aircraft.

[Engine]

-------------

This is a work in progress. I'll complete this some other time. Comments are welcomed.

I see. Well, I agree with you there. I'm hoping Macabees's RP will be one of those quality ones.

About the above fighter: Hey, I remember that. Nice to see that it found a use after all. The thing you made for me I still need to get around and make specs for.

Some of us have had similar opinions on stagnation. I believe that Neo-Mekanta was starting an RP to change all that. Should be getting started (well, started for real, the threads already out there) soon. I'll try to find a link...

Eh, I used SW to get a good initial grounding. I plan on slowly switching to custom, but SW is easy and there's a ship for pretty much everything already made. (Well... it's seriously lacking defined logistics ships, but those can usually be retasked from multipurpose hulls or added onto old stripped down cruisers)

I think the beauty of role play is the ability to make your own things. In fact, I've learned more about physics and technology on NationStates than I would studying a year in school. And I'm not exxagerating one bit.

Aye. I'll work on it over the summer, but I've had no time over the school year to really flesh out my nation or make good custom tech.

First thing to work on is a map lol

Yes, but how much of that is non-military tech? :p

Hehe, true enough. Actually, I have a lot of non-military projects in mind - I just have to get past this rebellion stage in my future tech experience, and move into the Imperial stage.

Or come up with your own, like you already have (Sorta). Original ships are MUCH more fun to use, and designing them and statting them is a blast. Plus, you don't get the horrid vulnerabilities of premade ships, such as woefully exposed bridges containing the entirity of the vessels commanding officers, comm equipment, etc.

Yea, since in Star Wars it seems that all their bridges aren't protected by the ships shields.... just like General Grievous has a very random organ, which is his weak point..hehe.

Actually, the bridge is protected by significant shields. Those spheres are Sensor globes. All the A-wings did in that SW scene was take out sensors after the shields were nocked down by Rebel Cruisers.

As for Grevious... IDK... very strange... I think he's a cyborg. I'm not sure about that one... how did he survive in space if he's part organic? Why did they let those parts be exposed to dangerous weapons fire? WTF??

I think that the idea was that Obi-wan ripped off the armor protecting it first, then proceeded to blast it.

Any way you put though, it's still pathetic. In the last parts of the Clone Wars Volume I and the second Clone Wars Micro Series, you got see how Greivous could easily take down lots of Jedi with no sweat. Then he get's bested by one Jedi that we all know isn't that good anyway?! And with a blaster?!

How they showed him in the movie as a coward is a complete and unfair reversal of roles for one of the coolest bad guys I've seen in Star Wars, (IMHO...)

I guess, it's very, very hard to get your thread to become a major center of war. Hehe, regardless, I will continue with the story myself if need be - although my posts of late have sucked major arse, so I need to get back into the groove..hopefully this next battle scene should prove to be an awsome read.
