The Genesis of a new region

Carops

The small area discovered by the great Caropsyne explorer Rothmond six years ago did not appear to be anything especially imporatant when first encountered. Back then, the then Kingdom of Carops was relatively stable and able to operate its trading empire with realtive safety. The people of Carops were a numerically-insignificant race, but were gifted with a civilisation unparralelled in their own region. Its people were a highly intelligent and methodical race, who developed technology and industry far ahead of their neighbours, provoking undisguised jealousy from many.
In order to grow, Carops began to expand into the slave trade, which left many of the mosre liberal nations in the area raging and demanding that retribution be taken against Carops immediately. But Carops required slaves to operate its industries and serve in its armies. They were mostly treated reasonably well and were provided with a safe existance in a very dangerous region.
However, pressure from neighbouring states forced Carops to reconsider its options and eventually, war broke out and drove them away. Left with little option but to relocate, the people of Carops used their technology to transport themselves away from the other nations, but subsequently spent their entire national income and over-capacitated much of their technological equipment, leaving them badly damaged.
It soon occurred to the people that they were in the area discovered by Rothmond all those years before and they had the use of the several large islands dotted around in that area. Soon, two sympathetic peoples, the citizens of the nations of Zorharoth and Quandoquasm joined Carops, and they were followed by three more.
This small collection of conservative, and authoritarian states existed together with perfect harmony, conducting an extensive and lucrative trading system, waiting for more peoples and more nations to join them.
