World as Myth?

The World as Myth theory:
This says that that all the worlds in the Universe are simply places imagined up by the great writers(i.e. Homer, Baum, and Burroughs as well as some others) as are all the people in those worlds and that you have no real control over what you do but you think that you do.
This is just a brief summary of the world as myth theory, but what do you think? Would you be willing to admit to yourself that you are nothing more than a figment of someone elses imagination and that you do not actually exist anywhere outside of that person imagination, and that everything you do is preplanned and out of your control?

Why is this in II?

What would give these 'great writers' such power? They were just regular people... If I wrote a book, could I change reality? This doesn't sound like a plausible theory at all...

Well, it isn't saying quite that, they do not change reality, they create a new reality. For instance, Baum created Oz, Burroughs created Tarzan and the martian series, and Pelucidar, and Homer wrote the Iliad. They are basically creating a seperate timeline that exists outside of ours but is syncronized with ours which was created by a different author and if you follow everything back far enough you will eventually get all the way back to the first author. So no you could not write a book and change reality you could only create a new reality for the peolple inside of your story, also, only the great authors are able to create lasting realitys. Authors that write a single, not very imaginative story would not be able to create a lasting reality, you would have to come up with a very well written, very imaginative story that is almost believable, then you might be able to create a reality.
