Nato Warlympics - Ground [NATO]
"And here we are, entering Day Two of the NATO Warlympics, Dianne!"
"Yes, here we are, Tom! And it looks like it's going to be an interesting day for everyone."
"What have we got listed on ground combat for today, Dianne?"
"Well, Tom, the current events for todays ground combat are:
Artillery – Free Flight Target Range Round 1
Hostage Rescue Round 1
Tank Warfare – Chinese Round
"Ooooh, looks good, Dianne!"
"Yes, it does, Tom. Now, on to the action...."
The tanks were all but ready - Sirdar van de Voot had decided on a mix of what few models Vastiva used - ten of the solid T-95s, five of the new T-98s, and five lithe T-105A's for speed and flanking maneuvers.
The main worry would be the sheer gun-size of the Sharinan tanks and... well, everything about their Samtonian allies. Except speed. I think we have them on sheer speed... and that might be enough.
"Risaldar! Any word on what TIOR will be showing up with?"
"Not yet, sir. But we do have word on the Sharinans. They're bringing the big ones."
"Well, holy hell. Pass it on, and tell everyone not to spare the mules, our best defense against that is going to be not being where they want us."
"You got it, Voot!"
Nasho Moinahan was still looking up at the Sharinan gun.
"Look at the size of that thing!"
"Moinahan, gitcher ass back over here."
"I mean, it's BIG..."
"I've seen bigger," laughed Corporal Zane Ahalamandro.
"Shut it, Zane."
The corporal winked at Moinahan. "Take leave over in Krioval, see what I mean. They grow them BIG there..."
Naqqua Zubayr Asbat was having none of it "Planning on seeing it again, Zane? Keep yapping, and you'll be old, gray, and senile by the time you do."
He lit a firestick and watched over his men. That Colossus is going to be a bitch... the bunnies, we won't worry about... and can't worry about Momanguise until they show up with their piece...
The Vastivan ELS-124B Howitzer was the original ELS-121B's "Big Brother". At a stunning 203mm, the ELS-124B's shells were far heavier then the original 155mm, but a perfect match for the Theodore's often assigned as "mobile assistance". Loading out with ELS-124A's and B's, meant the ELS-116's could carry just one load type to support three different firing platforms - definitely a step in the path of Vastivan efficiency.
"So, Naqqua, where's the damn bunnies?"
"Where else? Collecting carrots for their shotguns."
That got laughter as the crew finished preparing their gun. "You think they'll let us set out a few test shots, Naqqua?"
"You know the rules, Zane. No shots, no rangers. And I'm thinking of sending you out on point if Moinahan doesn't get his head out of the clouds."
"But, Naq, it's so BIG...."
"All I want to know, Risaldar, is who we get to babysit? Because we're getting the Colonel back. Bet on it."

OOC: I do apologise; I'll get a post for the hostage rescue thingy up as soon as I find the time in between all the other stuff.
