When Man Falls to Temptation [PTMT, Open]

Jagada
22-05-2005, 23:44
Stronghold of Faith Building, Christiania, Capital of Jagada...

Matteo Rossini sat back in his leather chair. He was sitting what was commonly known as the "Room of Humility", it was the room where representatives of all the faiths in Jagada would meet to discuss various issues. The room itself was huge, towering at least a hundred feet above them, and it was designed around a Roman Catholic Church, with gothic designs installed. Matteo looked around the table, which was a round table, to only see representatives of two other faiths: Pavel Ermakov, of the Orthodox Church, and Zhao Kuai-heng of the Buddhist Faith. The two of them made small talk due that they sat close together, Matteo listened in an out of their conversations. It was primarily about stories of the faith, which would degrade close to arguments about whose faith was correct, but would quickly upgrade back to a peaceful discussion.

Matteo was concerned, however, about why this emergency session was called by Jake Montgomery, representative of the Mormon faith. Matteo already had concerns about Jake. Jake wasn't a true a Mormon as he proclaimed, he was more atheist than anything; Matteo knew Jake had used his influence and strong-arm tactics to rise to the position of representative of the faith. He had considered not to come to Jake's emergency session, but if he didn't it would drive a dividing line between the two faiths, something Highest Minister Norris wouldn't permit. Twenty minutes went by when finally other representatives of other faiths began to enter: Andrew Cameron, of the Protestant Faith, Yasser Hamza of the Islamic Faith, Chandana Ranjit of the Hindu Faith, and Ethan Chayim of the Jewish Faith. They all took their seats, and each began to scan the room after they sat down. Slowly only one seat wasn't filled, the seat of the Mormon Faith. That was when Jake Montgomery entered the room, he was dressed like he should have, a black tux with a black tie, reasonable for such a meeting as this. He approached the round table with a smug look on his face, the kind of look which many people would have to ask him to remove.

"Greetings, gentlemen, I am glad you all decided to come," said Jake. "Very well, don't waste our time, tell us why this meeting as been called," stated Yasser Hamza. Jake's smug look got even worse, as he began to walk around the table. "The reason this meeting as been called is simple. We need to discuss the future of religion in our country," he said. Matteo immediately got a bad feeling, though he couldn't tell if it was a bad feeling as in life and death or that Jake was going to say something very stupid, but convincing. Matteo glanced around the table, the rest of the representatives looked similar to him, confused but refused to openly show it. "Let me ask you all something, what proof is there of any of our faiths?" asked Jake. Also as if on cue Andrew Cameron spoke up, "Do you doubt the existence of the very God you worship?" Jake simply chuckled, "Perhaps, I've been studying recently, and I've come to the conclusion that there is more evidence to support atheism and science than religion," stated Jake. Immediately this caused several of the representatives to clench their fists, and raise an eyebrow. Even Matteo could feel his blood beginning to boil, he knew Jake was fake, but proclaiming something like that in this very room was nearly heresy.

"Science cannot prove itself, its flaw lies in its founding principle and statement: Something must come from something," stated Chandana Ranjit. "Indeed, but how can you prove your God started the Big Bang or the creation of the universe? How do you know he isn't simply a byproduct of the Big Bang, the first creature to become intelligent if you will," he stated. That’s when Ethan Chayim rose spoke up, "And how do you know he isn't the one who started the Big Bang?" Matteo clearly saw the anger in Jake's eyes from that comment; it was as if Ethan had destroyed something very valuable to Jake. He gave Ethan a screw-you kind of look and continued to speak. "I am not here to debate why science is the truth and why religion is a lie. I am here to enforce Science," stated Jake. Matteo growled, he could no longer stay silent, "You proclaim to be the representative of the Mormon faith, yet you stand here denouncing the very God your faith worships, what kind of a representative are you?" Matteo exclaimed. Jake smirked, and that smug looked returned, "The truth is gentlemen; I'm not here to defend the Mormon faith."

Matteo suddenly jumped at the sound of gunshots from outside the door, suddenly the doors to the room swung open a nearly thirty five men entered the room, they rushed the representative of the faiths and had guns aimed at them before they could react. The men were dressed in military like uniforms similar to the ones other Jagadian soldiers wore: a blue military uniform and a blue overcoat with some gold on it. These men wore the same outfit, but different colors. Their uniforms were black, and instead of gold, they had red. Quickly one of the representatives, Yasser Hamaz spoke up, "What is the meaning of this Jake!" he was quickly hit in the back of the head by the butt end of a gun. Yasser remained awake and alert but was dazed as he fell back down into his seat. That’s when Matteo noticed three letters on their uniform, woven in, in red letters on left side of the chest on the uniform: "SAG". Matteo felt his heart skip a beat, and his fear rise. "My God, you're members of SAG!" exclaimed Matteo. The other representatives quickly looked around and noticed it as well, they all turned pale. Matteo knew all too well about SAG, which stood for Society against God. They were a staunch Atheist terrorist group formed centuries ago during the civil war between Atheists and Religious Peoples. They were a covert special operations unit at that time, sent behind the Religious People's lines to attack small towns and commit small scale genocide in an effort to weaken the RP's morale. After they war, they refused to surrender to the victorious RP, and turned into a terrorist organization. They'd continued to attack and kill entire village populations from time-to-time, and deemed it necessary in an effort to return Jagada back to its Neo-Liberal Atheist style of government.

"Very observant Matteo, I'm glad you realize who you're dealing with now," he said. Matteo kept his calm and spoke up again, "So what do you plan to do? Kill us? Cause if you are then you’re wasting everyone’s time." Jake smirked and pulled a gun out of his tux and aimed it at Matteo. "Heh, are you afraid to die?" he ask. "Nope," Matteo replied quickly. Jake kept the gun aimed at Matteo for nearly two more minutes, when another man entered into the room. He had blond hair but green eyes, and wore a similar uniform as other SAG members, save he acted like he held an important position of rank. "Colonel Jake, the building his secure, though we expect the police to arrive shortly, we had to do some loud greetings at the front door and we're sure someone heard it," he said. "Very well Franklin, all this changes is that we'll have company a lot sooner than expected," stated Jake. Jake put his gun away. He turned to one of the SAG soldiers, "Arnold, guard them. If they try to escape don't hesitate to kill them," he said. Arnold salute and gave a strict 'Yes sir!'. Jake signaled Franklin to follow him, and the two left the room, closing the door behind them.

"What!?" shouted Ricardo Vigil over the phone. Ricardo was Christiania (the Capital cities) chief police officer, he conducted the whole situation. "Yes sir, we have reports that members of the terrorist organization known as SAG have attacked and secured the Stronghold of Faith building sir, as for hostages we are unsure, it could be as many as fifty people, mainly staff," a voice said over the phone "I want everything we can get over to that building now, seal it off, let no one leave and attempt to make contact with the men inside," he shouted. The voice on the other end of the phone confirmed his orders and hung up. Ricardo was in shock, SAG was an organization that was feared by all Jagadians, but their attacks were rare, and something to this degree seemed impossible for them to pull off. Ricardo quickly went into prayer; he himself was a Roman Catholic. After a ten minutes prayer upon which he asked for the safety of all hostages and police. He then quickly walked out of the room to head down to the situation area.
