--Election Special--
Hello once again, I'm Don Evens coming to you live from the Royal Congressional Complex in Hamptonshire City. The recent dissolution of the Royal House of Representatives has thrown the political landscape here in Hamptonshire completely on its head. Isn't that right, Rick?
Yes, Don. Even though the House is the weaker of the two chambers, Prime Minister Olendorf would certainly get a boost if Narp could pick up more seats.
As always, Rick is right. If NARP comes away from this election with a majority in the House, that party's rather aggressive political agenda is almost assured of being a success.
Yes, but if the Popular Party or the Unity Coalition manages an upset we could see this new party kiled before it even became a force in Hamptonian politics.
I think that this reporter can safely say that Hamptonshire hasn't seen an election of this importance in quite some time.
That's right Don. This special election could very well determine our nation's path for generations to come.
Too true, Rick, too true...and that's why we're here to help you. We will be showing you some information about the five major parties of Hamptonshire and over the next week HNN will be bringing you live debates between the highest ranking members of the competing parties.
(Information on each party comes up on the screen)
Nationalistisk Republikaner Folkeparti (Nationalist Republican People's Party)

Nationalistisk Republikaner Folkeparti
We are the majority, We are the people, We shall not be silenced
Party Leader: Senator Bernard Allenby, President of the Royal Congress
Highest Ranking Member: Prime Minister Chester Olendorf; Senator Bernard Allenby, President of the Royal Congress
Coalition: None.
Platform: The Nationalistisk Republikaner Folkeparti is a right wing, conservative party. Focused on national defense, national security, and nationalist foreign policy. The cornerstone of NARP is the "Hamptonshire First Policy". Ranging from domestic issues to foreign relations, the "Hamptonshire First Policy" seeks to make Hamptonshire into a first rate power, at nearly any cost. NARP has also seemed to embrace the former Republic Party's tenant of the creation of a Constitutional Monarchy with a figurehead Grand Duke.
Positives: Enjoys the support of over 6/10ths of the electorate, NARP politicans are known for their powerful oratory skills. Enjoys the support of many so called "Protectorate Hamptonians"- Citizens of Hamptonshire that don't actually live in Hamptonshire Proper.
Negatives: While the mainstream of the Party is reasonable, the far right wing faction of the Party is highly militaristic, isolationist and xenophobic. The merger of the Nationalist Union and Republic Parties has caused more moderate party leaders to be left out of the fold with more extreme members rising to party prominence. Strongly disliked by royalists and "true moderates".
Central Coalition
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hamptonshire/7d1723cf.gif
Central Coalition
Hand in Hand, For the Good of All People
Party Leader: Senator Henry Flint
Highest Ranking Member: Lord Phillip Rosecrans, Commander-General of the Royal Armed Forces, Defense Minister
Coalition: Unity Coalition
Platform: The aptly named Central Coalition Party is a centrist, progressive moderate party. It is focused on law and order and domestic issues. Both its supporters and detractors call it the "Status Quo" Party. Up until the last decade, the Central Coalition was the most powerful and respected party in Hamptonshire. Due to the changing international landscape and a lack of charisma among its Congressional Leaders, the Central Coalition has been quickly losing ground to the more 'populist' and reactionary parties.
Positives: Nearly the entire government bureaucracy and most of the Royal Family are members or supporters of the Central Coalition. Voters always know that they can rely upon the steadiness and long term vision of the CC.
Negatives: Due to the centrist nature of the Central Coalition and the lack of charismatic figures, the Party is fast losing ground to both NARP and the Popular Party. The CC is on the brink of losing its status as the offical Opposition Party to the ever growing Popular Party.
New Frontier Party
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hamptonshire/logo_diamond.gif
New Frontier Party
Economic Advancement Through Social Progression
Party Leader: Governor Norman Koines
Highest Ranking Member: Alan Bluebridge, Acting Finance Minister
Coalition: Unity Coalition
Platform: Formed by the combination of the centre-left Union Democrats and the leftist Labor Parties, the New Frontier Party is Hamptonshire's only left leaning political party. They seek to place an income tax on the population (Hamptonshire currently has no income tax) to pay for a wide range of social programs. New Frontier pushes for a decrease in the funding for the Royal Armed Forces and increased regulation of business. The party is increasingly starting to distance itself from the Central Coalition.
Positives: Widely admired as an idealistic party, New Frontier is the champion of Hamptonshire's lower classes.
Negatives: Only 4% of the population falls under the category of "Lower Classes". It is also Hamptonshire's smallest major party.
Popular Party
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hamptonshire/torch.gif
Popular Party
Individual Choice Breeds Collective Good
Party Leader: Congressman Jacob Astor, Speaker of the Royal House of Representatives
Highest Ranking Member: Congressman Jacob Astor, Speaker of the Royal House of Representatives
Coalition: People's Front
Platform: The Popular Party is a centre-right, moderate libertarian-style party. Focused mainly on business issues and smaller government. It is the choice of conservative voters who don't like the nationalism and militarism of NARP. The Popular Party, as a libertarian-type party, support the idea that the people know best how to run their own affairs.
Positives: Favorite party of Hamptonshire's businessmen and women. Its libertarian policies are attractive to voters under 50 years of age. The Popular Party is on course, should the Central Coaliton do poorly in this election, to become the official Opposition. Until the unification of the Nationalist Union and Republic Parties, the Popular Party was the largest bloc in the RHR.
Negatives: The Popular Party's waivering support of the Royal Armed Forces and its oppositon to a draft under any circumstance run contrary to traditional Hamptonian patriotism.
Independent Progressive Party
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v114/hamptonshire/dovelogo.gif
Independent Progressives
The Best For All At The Expense of None
Party Leader: Governor Wiliam Kruger
Highest Ranking Member: None
Coalition: People's Front
Platform: The Independent Progressives are Hamptonshire's newest Federal and Provincial level political party. The balance the ideas of classical liberalism, the concept of the Nightwatchman State, federalism, and modern libertarianism. The IP doesn't quite fit into the traditional Left-Right political spectrum.
Positives: New up and coming party quickly winning solid support in Hamptonshire's island provinces. The party is respected but is seen as not yet able to form a true alternative to the established major parties of Hamptonshire.
Negatives: The Independent Progressive Party is accused of taking the positions of nearly all other major Hamptonian political parties and toning them down a notch.
