Refusal to comply with UN resolution

High Elder Ryan James Wilson XIV has issued the following statement:

"As we believe that we should be able to teach, or not teach, whatever we wish in our education system, Ryanania will not comply with the 'Right to Teach Evolution' resolution passed by the UN. Evolution never has been taught in Ryananian schools, and it never will be.

God Bless you."

So it is written, so shall it be.

OOC:

Negative. I see no reason why I can't not comply with a resolution.

OOC: From the UN FAQ (go back to your nation page, hit "FAQ" then "United Nations".

The UN is your chance to mold the rest of the world to your vision, by voting for resolutions you like and scuttling the rest. However, it's a double-edged sword, because your nation will also be affected by any resolutions that pass. (You can't just obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest, like real nations do.)

I even bolded it for you.

That's referring to game mechanics.

OOC: Wrong. Wasn't having your "IM NOT COMPLYING" thread deleted once a hint that it wasn't "just game mechanics"?

Yay, noncompliancewank

Now, does that statement from a moderator sound to you as though "oh, it's just game mechanics" is the correct answer?

No? Didn't think so.

IC:

High Elder Wilson's secretary said over the intercom, "Your Holiness, you have a call from the minister of education."

"Thank you, I'll take the call." He picked up the phone and said, "Hello Bill."

"Uh, Good afternoon, sir. The survey of the school system is complete, and not a single textbook that mentions the theory of evolution stains our school system. Also, all teachers have been reminded of the law against teaching evolution. The heathens haven't succeeded in corrupting our youth, your Holiness."

"Good Bill, I'm glad to hear it. Have a good one." He then hung up. Despite the High Elder's informal manner, he was actually a very religiously conservative person, and he strongly disapproved of evolutionary teachings.

OOC- Ok heres my stance on it. I think that all UN resoultions should be abided by but i Also think it makes for a good RP when one nation refuses to comply with them. We dont need people whining about game mechanics and stuff. Hes not trying to change Mechanics of messing with them.

Hes just RPing.

But in lou of the overwhelimg amout of people complaining that as a 4th grader once said "YOUR NOT PLAYING MY THE RULES" Just leave the UN so we dont take up thread space.

P.S i couldve had some fun with this RP if people didnt come in and ruin it.

IC-

The receptionist at the ministry of education's administration department patched the call through to Elder William Franklin's office. He picked up the phone and said, "Hello, Minister of Education Elder Franklin speaking."

At the other end of the Phone Tony Baker. The Minister of Minor Affairs gave the reply

"We hear you have refused to comply with the UN resoultion giving children mandatory right to learn about education. From my personal beliefs i believe it shouldnt be a UN decision. But from an offical standpoint we would like to know if there is anyway to presuade you tech the theroy of evoultion."

But from an offical standpoint we would like to know if there is anyway to presuade you tech the theroy of evoultion."Well sir, I can't make any decisions on this matter myself because there is a longstanding law against the teaching of evolution. High Elder Wilson has reinforced that law by ordering that we not comply with the resolution. It is the official stance of the school system that we will not do anything to undermine the children's faith in God. While we believe that the theory of evolution is interesting, we do not believe it to be true. The official Ryananian policy about the creation of man is that God created the earth and the life on it over a period of many eons. This was determined by te Council of Elders many years ago when scientists determined the approximate age of the earth. However, since there is no proof of evolution, we cannot accept it. You're talking to the wrong man if you want to persuade us to teach evolution, because, again, even if I wanted to teach evolution in our schools, I don't have the power to order it. You may want to speak with the High Elder himself, since he is the only one with that power.

ooc:He has a point. Besides, none of that matters. The Earth is only 3,000 years old anyway!

ooc: eons, eh? then why did that big book say seven days?OOC: Well, the Ryananian Council of Elders decided that "seven days" must have been a mistranslation or a mistake. One of the main roles of the Council is to interperet the Bible.
