Official Message from the President of the United States of Nellisland:

I would like to officially condemn the imperial actions of Fluffywuffy concerning their war on Green Sun. They are trying to take advantage of a situation and using it for themselves. This can not and shall not go unpunished. I am giving Fluffywuffy twenty-four hours to call off the invasion or face the full force of the Nellisland Military. I hope to hear from him soon.

Open Message to Fluffywuffy and Nellisland via the press:
"Green Sun is glad to finally have a supporter outside of Risban, who is only protecting the people, which I am eternally gratefull for. Green Sun, however, will not hold a grudge against Fluffywuffy for this invasion. In fact, they did us a good thing by unifying us and allowing us to put most our military to the test. But that doesn't mean we're going to loosen up."

IC:
The Council of Ministers met for the last time to address the events in Nellisland and Green Sun. Nellisland and its alllies threatened the Second Empire, and the Council had to decide what to do.

Defense Minister Jason McCall, as in the crisis leading up to to the war in Green Sun, spoke first, setting the tone of the meeting. "My colleagues, Nellisland poses a grave threat to the Second Empire. Although not powerful itself, Nellisland's allies in our region surround us. We must do something, something, to alleviate the situation. We must get ready for total war. To that end I propose we appoint, for the duration of the conflict, an Emperor with total power. I say he should be a great commander, rather than a civilian, so that he properly sees us through. Now, who to vote for?" Jason glanced across the room, measuring each man, weighing that measure against his expectations.

The Minster for Trade, Zachary Stewart, spoke next. "In concur. We must appoint an Emperor to streamline the government in this war. As you yourself are a military man, I propose we vote Defense Minister Jason McCall as Emperor." Heads nodded around the table. The vote was counted, and it was official: Defense Minister Jason McCall had been elevated to the position of Emperor of the Second Empire.

The Emperor nodded graciously, shaking hands and smiling. "My friends, we can no longer sit idly by. Nellisland will launch its attack shortly, and we must act. As my first act as Emperor, I hereby declare war on Nellisland. Also, send word to Green Sun that we will have peace if they give Green Island to the Second Empire. Inform them they have clashed swords and shown their honor, and further contest in no longer needed. Launch the Air Force, let's try and destroy their air forces."

_____________

All along the Nellisland-Fluffywuffy border, pilots hopped into aircraft, soldiers suited up, and tanks revved their engines. War had been declared (though not announced, in the hope of surpise). One hundred B-2 bombers roared into the night sky, making a b-line for the nearest Nellislandian air bases. Following them were 500 TSF-28Cs, with a similar mission: bomb airfields. When the different units reached Nellislandian airspace, artillery units all across the border opened fire on those airfields and bases within reach. After the barrage was done, all military units on the border retreated to a more defensible position further back, burning and destroying all airfields and bases they left behind.

On the The Massive Ethiopans-Fluffywuffy border, something similar happened (If TME is part of this pact). However, because TME and Fluffywuffy have two pennisulas in close proximity, the range of targets was expanded and more aircraft were available. There were two main goals in this strike: strike naval units in the narrow waters between TME and Fluffywuffy, and destroy as much of the TME airforce as possible. To bomb the bases , 500 B-1B bombers were allocated. To strike the enemy fleet, the B-747, Fluffywuffy's conversion of the 747 jet, was used. With 10 Yakhont anti-shipping missiles a piece, the B-747 was well suited to the task; another 500 were assigned. From the border, all units retreated further in, again destroying airfields left behind.

In Third Jerusalem's direction, another 500 B-747s were sent, this time armed with 20 Tomahawk cruise missiles (outfitted with cluster munitions) to bomb TJ's airbases. As before, all units retreated further in, the goal being to avoid being encircled by TJ and TME forces. The ultimate strategic goal was to provide an early knock-out blow, and Imperial High Command hoped they had provided something like that.
Risban

Official Statement of the Grand Imperium of Risban

The Grand Imperium of Risban sees the attack on Green Sun as an attack on Risban itself and will not stand for it. An invasion in the Consortium of Shadows is, by regional law, a threat to the Risban Imperium and all nations located within the region. Emperor Scorpius and the entire Imperial Government and Populus condemn Fluffywuffy for this inequitable invasion of Green Sun and this threat on the entire Consortium.

Should the nation of Fluffywuffy attack any other nations in the region, all nations will join together in a coalition against the vile Fluffywuffians. All allies of the Risban Imperium will be called upon, and Fluffywuffy will be turned into either a slave colony or a smoldering hole.

The Grand Imperium of Risban concurs with Nellisland's twenty-four hour deadline to withdraw from Green Sun. Imperial forces right now are currently only serving as a martial police force in Green Sun by request of their Royal Family and General Homer. Should the government of Green Sun be removed from power, Risban will no longer have to heed its ally's wishes, and we will declare war.

We will not stand for foreign imperialists digging holes in our region. It is a threat to Risban power. Our imperialism in the region has already subjugated Vexus, Pelamor, Hantul, Slade Craven, Tomnaboly, Wandersleben, Camos and Tanzanasty to Risbanian Rule. That is enough imperialism in the region. If you wish to conquer others, we suggest you work on your own region first.

If you do not want Risban and our allies against you, I strongly suggest you leave the Green Sun Government exactly where and how it is.

Think carefully before threatening Risban. And, do not forget: Risban is not Green Sun's only ally.

OOC: Will this be the thread for the war or are we having another one??

The Great Hall of the Imperial Senate, Yallak
7:45 am
The Imperial Senate was bursting with activity. Hundreds of conversations and arguments between senators made the great hall echo in noise. Then silence. The Emperor had just entered, and everything stopped at his arrival.
He wasted no time for today’s meeting was an important one.

“As you know, the Second Empire of Flufflywuffy is invading Green Sun. Today he has launched attacks at Nellisland, Third Jerusalem and The Massive Ethiopians. No longer can we allow these events to continue unchecked, Yallak must intervene and prevent the collapse of our region. It is time to make your decision”.

A chorus of voices elevated, but were silenced by the Imperial Chancellor.

“We will vote now!!”

The Senators made their choice known using their keypads. On a large screen behind the Emperor at the front of the hall the result were displayed - 96% for Yes.

The Emperor exited the Hall, and the senators went bake to their discussions.

The Port City of Karak, near Navarath
8:12 am

“My lord”

General Caracas greeted the Emperor as he arrived.

“Is everything ready?”

“As ordered. The fleet is already at sea with the 1st Legion. All other Legion will move across land into Fluffywuffy.”

“We must move immediately, a bombardment has already begun and the battle will begin soon.”

Emperor Balor paused, thinking momentarily.

“Before you depart have another 2 Legions put on standby”.

“I will see to it immediately”.

Caracas left, calling several of his officers to follow. Balor remained, considering exactly how much of his forces he was willing to commit to this war. After all it wasn’t Yallakian nature to trust neighbouring nations, so he wanted enough Legions left behind to repulse any invasion that might occur from other countries while Yallak’s strength was spread out.
The sound of hundreds of Gas turbines powering up began. Balor turned towards the noise. It was apparent that Caracas was ready to depart. Fluffywuffy was only hours away from destruction at the hands of Yallak’s armies.

The first divisions of armour began to move out.

OOC: I mobilised my forces ages ago. http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8906481&postcount=24

7th Legion, Approaching the borders of Yallak
10:30 am

Caracas sat in the command seat of a tank. In his hand he held a communication device and was transmitting to the Air Marshal and the Imperial Fleet.

“For some reason Flufflywuffy failed to make a first strike against us. I don’t understand why but we must take advantage of the situation. Commence a full missile strike now. We are almost at the border, so get every plane flying CAP or have them on standby. I’m sending you the satellite and radar intelligence we have on the enemy. Their huge numbers of planes have given away the locations of many airfields. Hit them hard. Caracas, out”.

The fleet, off the North coast of Yallak, began firing hundreds of cruise missiles at each airfield. Supply ships had extreme difficulty at reloading the ships as fast as they could fire the missiles. The bombardment would continue at this rate for 2 hours.

Encoded message to Nellisland, Third Jerusalem and The Massive Ethiopians.
From Emperor Balor

We hope your losses from Fluffywuffy’s attacks were not severe. We have begun our offensive, and as you receive this have begun destroying the airfields responsible for those attacks on your nations.

OOC: I didn't bomb you because we don't share a border. You've got to go through Third Jerusalem to cross into Fluffywuffy. And pretend Green Sun isn't on the map; he has his own map, and he's in a different (yet neighboring) region. But I'll just say you landed your forces on my western coast (that's the closest coast, after all).

The Map (http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y216/Fluffywuffy/PossibleMap3.gif)

IC:

Fluffywuffy was now officialy fighting for its life. Emperor Jason McCall had made a mistake in forgetting to bomb Yallak, but he had more than enough firepower to stop them, and enough cunning. With war already declared with Nellisland, Third Jerusalem, and The Massive Ethiopians, the Air Force was on high alert and had begun patrolling friendly skies. Thus it came as no surprise that the Second Empire was under bombardment by Yallak, and the gut reaction was counter attack. That fleet just had to go, and Yallak had failed to strike the Second Empire's naval bases. Also, not all of the Air Force had been finished; those air bases nearest to the coast were obliterated, and only those aircraft (such as my CAS-01 Jaguar [It's been a long time since I made the plane, and I may have the designation messed up]) that could fly on rudimentary dirt fields could depart. As the missiles progressed inland, attrition removed more and more. Fighters on Combat Air Patrol shot down many of them, SAMs caught a few more, and ancient FLAK cannons dating from WWII shot down a handful. The result was over 100 airbases on the western coast shutting down, with another 100 inland bases damaged or destroyed.

Slinking out of port were the NASN-01 submarines that the Second Empire had so relied upon, with 200 leaving port. Only 100 were in western ports, but the 100 was more than enough for the moment. They slipped into the waves in the utmost secrecy, steaming at a silent but deadly 5 knots. They would not engage until they were under the fleet, and then they would strike capital ships and attempt to cripple the fleet. They hoped that the enemy fleet was actively pinging; active pinging could be heard 10 times the distance it could hear you.

As further counter measure, other ships slipped out of port, comprising a rag-tag fleet known as the Imperial Defense Fleet. Most of the fleet had skipped town and went to Green Sun to fight, including almost all of the carriers and several battleships, but the remaining force could still wreak total havoc if commanded properly. Those ships on the western coast, 50 Sovremenny destroyers, armed with 8 Moskit anti-shipping missiles each, and 20 Kirov-class cruisers, with 96 Shipwreck missiles each, set a course for the enemy fleet. Sattelites hovered over the Yallakian fleet, providing guidance for the 1,920 Shipwreck missiles. From a range of 500 kms, the "fleet" launched its Shipwreck missiles, before turning around and heading further into friendly waters to reload.

The few CAS-01 aircraft operating on the coast withdrew into the intact airbases, and Combat Engineering units began constructing hundreds of new airbases and runways. For the moment, civilian airfields were used. Those aircraft not destroyed in the bombardment were towed to civilian fields and flown off into the interior of the nation. From the other side of the country, those B-747 aircraft that had struck TME and TJ lifted off, heading straight for the enemy fleet. Few of those had been destroyed in the initial bombardment, and those that had been destroyed were supplemented with other B-747s that had not been used. Total, 1,000 of the lumbering aircraft took off on a run at the Yallakian fleet, laden with 10 P-800 Yakhont sea-skimming cruise missiles, with a range of 300 kms. The bombers fired at a range of 200 kms, just to be sure that they hit.

On land, matters were different. Imperial forces retreated without conflict in an orderly retreat to fight again another day. It wasn't possible to stop them at the beaches, not with much of the coastal airforce downed, and not with the bordergaurd units. And so the army retreated to a more inland position, gathering the staple artillery units and mechanized units. But that wasn't all. The reforms that the army had begun initiating several years ago kicked in, and the army retreated past one million of the so-called "special defense fighters," who disguised themselves as civilians and hid their weapons. When the enemy passed over them, then they would rise. But for now, they remained silent.

IC:

The IYS Bloodthirster - Imperial Flagship

Admiral Dagon stood on the bridge, his communicator in hand.

"Admiral, this is General Caracas. We have commenced landings and are preparing to advance on the enemy. No resistance has yet been given, but be on standby for immediate bombardment at …………”

Before he could finish a Lieutenant interrupted the conversation.

“Admiral we have incoming. Contacts at 500km and 200km.”

Dagon, a veteran of many conflicts was quick to react.

“Bring Cor-ai systems online, launch the alert fighters, all craft prepare for evasive manoeuvres.”

The aircraft carriers began launching the emergency A6’s and F-22’s, while the already airborne AWAC’s tracked the enemy missiles in.

“First contacts at 150km”

80 Frigates held the outer perimeter of the fleet and at this range launched a full salvo (100 missiles each) of SA LRADM missiles (Yallakian long range surface to air missiles). Guided by the Cor-ai fire control system and the above AWAC’s they knocked down droves of the approaching missiles.
They reloaded and readied to fire on the second lot of incoming missiles.
At the 40km mark each ships in the fleet began launching Aster missiles, and their very high agility and manoeuvrability saw similarly devastating results to the incoming missiles.
Then all the AA guns and CIWS Phalanx guns on all ships began firing on the missiles as the Fleet took flank speed evasive manoeuvres and launch countermeasures.
Overhead the A6’s used their electronic warfare systems to disrupt guidance on the missiles and creating false targets for them to fly into. The F-22’s shot down several missiles too.

Of the 10,000 missiles fired less than 5% survived to hit their targets. Several penetrated into the centre of the fleet but against the almost half a metre thick Tiranial amour of the Imperial Capital ships were harmless in such small quantities.
Smaller ships in the fleet however were not so fortunate to have as thick armour.

Losses:
14 frigates destroyed, 2 damaged
6 destroyers destroyed, 5 damaged
1 cruiser destroyed, 2 damaged
1 Khorland battleship – minor damage

The second wave of missile was annihilated, but one or two breach the defences and several more ships were damaged, one more destroyed (included in above).

Admiral Dagon was not impressed at the enemy’s punitive firepower.

“Lieutenant, do you have their position?”
“Yes sir, 510km and increasing, they are attempting to flee”
“Prepare a full strike – all ahead flank”

The fleet powered after the retreating enemy fleet at almost 42 knots (to allow the damaged ships to keep up). Once the gap had closed to less than 500km the destroyers, cruisers and battleships launched a salvo of AGM-86 Advanced Harpoon SLAM’s (100 each = total of 293x100 = 29300 missiles)

“All missiles are away Admiral”
“Move heading to the North, maintain constant distance from the coast – keep the frigate at an extended perimeter”

Beachhead – West Coast of Fluffywuffy
Operation: Necrology (Death Notice)

The assault craft hit the beaches and the advanced elements poured onto the beach and secured the surrounding area. No resistance was offered.

Captain Mauriac signalled his radioman across.

“Get the General on the line”

Within seconds the Captain was in contact with Caracas

“General, the enemy have abandoned the beaches. Forward parties are almost a kilometre inland, but no contact has been made”
“Hold your advance, I will be on the beach in a few minutes”
“Yes sir”

IC:

Emperor Jason McCall, evidently confident, marched before cheering crowds in the Imperial capital city of Rexicum. Bowing courteously, he proceeded to speak.

"My fellow citizens, the time has come to act. We are at war, as you know, and much has to be done in war. Because of this, the country needs you. Each and every one of you are useful to the defense of our mighty nation, and it is through the effort of you citizens that we will see this through to the end. We must out produce the enemy. We must out number him. And most importantly of all, we must out fight him. We as a nation stand poised to do so, and all I ask of you are to defend our nation.

War is the contest of one nation, or nations, against another nation, or nations. The usual aims are land, peace, a new government, and the like. Great empires were built on conquest, and our Empire is no different. But we must show that our Empire is still great, and we must show that their moon has not eclipsed our sun. So stand with me, countrymen, and let us show the world we are great!"

When the second wave of landing craft hit the beaches it was almost midday. The first armoured divisions rolled onto the sand and made straight for the forward positions.
General Caracas jumped down from the lead tank and made his way to Captain Mauriac’s makeshift Headquarters.

“General, all units are ready for you orders”
“The tanks are moving into position now. If the enemy run like cowards they will die like cowards. We must not get caught in a guerrilla war. Destroy everything in your path, leave none alive. We must draw out their army through slaughter.”

Half an hour later all divisions were ready to move. General Caracas signalled to his officers and the armour roared into life, moving forward closely followed by the Imperial Infantry and IFV’s of the 7th Legion.

As the first city came into view the advanced halted. Caracas looked at Mauriac,

“They will fight or their country will be burnt to the ground”
“I think it will end in the later, sir. All who have stood against us have fallen.”

There conversation was drowned out as the General ordered the bombardment to commence and 2 Divisions of SA Behemoths (2400 tanks) opened fire with there 145mm cannons. Directed by the General, 20 batteries (1440 guns) of 200mm Howitzers on the beach positions also pounded the city.

IC:
"We bring you live from the front lines as Yallakian forces halt outside of Garrentston, a city of five million in the western provinces. Before this point, we expected Yallakian forces to be relatively benign fighters. But this barbaric act has driven the populace of Garrentson into a rage. We bring you to James Stewart, a citizen of Garrentston. So, Mr. Stewart, what are you planning on doing?"

James's face contorted into a mass of pure rage and hatred, and his dialogue was reinforced by periodic pats of the AK-47 slung over his shoulder. "Why, I'm gonna send my family away, and then I'm gonna shoot me up some Yallakians! They ain't gonna bomb my ass without some retaliation! YOU HEAR THAT!? YOU AIN'T GONNA BOMB ME!! YOU--"

Several reporters dragged James away from the camera, to prevent him from smashing the lense in pure anger. "Thank you, Mr. Stewart. That'll be enough. As you can see, the population is pretty riled up. We expect that when Yallakian forces enter the city everything from men with shotguns to kids with RPGs will stand in their way. We will try and cover the fighting as much as possible, but when things get too rough we may have to withdrawl. Reporter Steven Spence signing off from FWNN."

________________

Garrentston was a burning mass of a city, with bombed out craters littering the street, and burnt cars blocking roads. The police had been replaced with the military police, organising the evacuation for those not stubborn enough to stay and fight. Thousands had died in the bombardment, and many more would perish from subsequent fighting. Protestors lined the camera-filled streets, demanding Imperial action. The Second Empire, of course, was acting. Garrentston, however, was not where the plan would be put in motion.

The guerilla forces that the Second Empire had invested in so many years ago would pay off in this conflict, and would probably prove to be very stubborn if Yallak was victorious. Those few hundred guerillas in the city recruited able-bodied men off the streets (well away from cameras, of course) and retreated into the deepest depths of the city's sewers, grabbing all the supplies and ammo that they needed. Their uniforms were a rainbow of colors; some wore civilian clothes, while others sported hunting camo. Still others came up with odd uniforms, in which everyone wore an armband, or a hat, or even a special type of shoe. The weapons were similarly mixed; shotguns, assault rifles of all makes and models, and even a musket--passed down from Great-Great-Great-Grandpa--were readied to defend the city. A few paramilitary groups from neighboring towns had gathered, and all togethor the force in the city numbered just under 10,000. Just a thousand or so anti-tank weapons were available--mainly old RPG-7s--looted from an old army garrison that had fallen into disuse. They wouldn't really be neccesary to defend the sewers, but one could never know.

James Stewart, the irate man defending his city, was one of the guerillas. It was he who was in charge of the underground, and he who was responsible for its defense. To that end he employed numerous landmines, wall mines, machine-gun nests, high explosives, trip wires hidden in water, and even rooms surrounded on all sides by machine-gun nests. Any expedition into the underground would prove a costly endeavor, and failing to clear the underground would be a fatal mistake; who knew when they could rise up at an inopportune time and pose a threat to the rear?

_____________________

The rest of the Imperial Army fell back a few more miles, staying roughly 100 miles away from Yallakian forces. Combat Engineering units had lain all manner of mines, tank traps, and generally made life hell for the enemy that walked through the area. The time to strike would come, but this was not the moment.

The guerilla forces, after having seen the tactics at Garrentston, were ordered into the woods, the caves, the sewers, and other areas. They would lie in wait and then spring their surpise. Their numbers grew, reinforced by civilians spurred on to defend their homes. Some imitation guerilla groups grew up, calling themselves "Nation People's Gaurds" or "Fluffywuffy's Defenders" and other such names.

Outskirts of Garrentston

General Caracas stood next to a now quiet Behemoth Tank. The city before him was still alight in several areas even though the bombardment ended at least 2 hours ago.

“Still nothing… Captain move into the city”

Once again the heavy tanks roared to life. Freshly fuelled and loaded after another wave had landed on the beach with new supplies, 5 Divisions (6,000 tanks) began to move forward slowly. 2 Divisions of Assault infantry (64,000 men) moved in under the cover of the tank armour.
Yet more explosions ripped into the town as the artillery on the beach, now reinforced with the third wave opened fired again. Incendiary ammunition was used this time – similar in design to napalm.

OOC: Just a bit of number wanking so I know what I’ve actually got to use:

Now landed or being landed on the beaches
4 Legions (2,400,000 Light Inf, 800,000 Assault Inf)

200 200mm Howitzer Batteries (14400 guns)
16 MLRS brigades (3200 vehicles)

General Homer has decided not to give up Green Island and will do anything to prevent its capture. Fluffywuffy must retreat its forces or the entirity of the Green Sun fleet will be awakened and their soldiers will be kept as POWs, if any survive the fires, landmines, and bazookas.

Any ships that surrender will be added to the Green Sun fleet, but due to the large number of sailors on a ship, they will be sent back to Fluffywuffy, or just sent to Roach-Busters as communists, probably the former, however. Green Sun will not violate international law, but we will not tolerate this attack on our homeland.

Admiral Zakharii strolled along a beach in the occupied area of Green Island. His advance, he decided, would have been succesful. However, Fluffywuffy's homeland was threatened, and Emperor Jason McCall himself had ordered the withdrawl. But he did not end hostilities with Green Sun. Admiral Zakharii held in his hands the flag of the Second Empire, and a tall flag pole had been erected nearby. This was to be a two-fold ceremony: memorial for those who had fallen, and a declaration that the Second Empire had not been defeated, and that once the homeland was secure the Second Empire would return. The Admiral saluted the flag crisply and let a few tears of sadness roll down his face. The retreat would be orderly and involve minimal casualties, but the idea of leaving land that he thought he could conquer saddened him.

The GRNSUNFLT was officially disbanded, and its component parts were assigned to HMEDEFFLT, under Admiral Zakharii. HMEDEFFLT, asside from the submarines that still lurked beneath the waves, now constituted the only fleet left; the Yallakian attack on the remaining craft off the western coast had scraped any other reinforcements. Only what aircraft remained operational could provide reinforcements, but Admiral Zakharii had decided to not release control of them just yet. He had a plan in his mind, and he hoped to use some aircraft. Not very many, just a handful, but it would be a risky mission. It would, in the end, pay off. To facilitate his mission plan, Combat Engineering units all over Fluffywuffy began constructing new airfields, to replace both those lost in the opening bombardment and to provide a sort of strategic hedge.

James Stewart heard the sounds of yet more explosions above him, some type of fire munitions by the crackle of flames that could be heard during the occasional moments of silence. Then footsteps, and the roar of tank engines. (OOC: I assume you entered the city) Despite his elite training, James still had to fight back the impulse to rip open the manhole just a few feet away and go down in a blaze of glory. No doubt the surprise would kill many of those soldiers who were uncautious. But then the scream of a man defending his home, staying in defiance of the Yallakian invasion, could be heard from above. That increased James's resolve, and though the man had not killed anyone save himself, it moved him to remember the virtue of patience.

And so James and the other freedom fighters waited for the perfect moment to strike. But that moment might never come, as one group of over-eager fighters blew the cover of the entire operation.

___________

The squad of "soldiers," a drunken hobo armed with an AK-47, a prostitute with an M-60, and a child with an RPG-7V, could no longer contain itself. The march of soldiers above drove them to unbridled rage, and when a child, drunken hobo, and prostitute all get collectively angry, especially when armed with dangerous weapons, bad things happened. The trio burst open the manhole and clambered up, guns blazing, aiming for a squad of Yallakian soldiers. The prostitute took cover behind some rubble and blazed away with her M-60, stopping only to insert a new belt of ammunition. The child used his RPG-7V as a long-range grenade launcher, shooting for a semi-intact building. His aim was to shoot the building and have the spray of rubble kill a squad of soldiers. The drunken hobo, being drunk, charged forward in a hilarious half-stumble while shooting at random things, including a stray dog. The trio had blown the surprise of the defenders, though objectively the defenders may have faced impossible odds in the first place. A fourth soldier, this one a trained guerilla, radioed in to James to report the trio's mistake, and that he would attempt to rescue them.

With a blaze of his MP-5, this fourth soldier, with a cape made from a Fluffywuffy flag, rushed toward his beleagured comrades to provide covering fire. It proved to be in vain; the enemy quickly learnt of the trio and surrounded them on all sides, killing them all very quickly.

News got to teh soldiers defending the Green Island cities. The damage to both fleets had been enourmous, but this day was a victory for Green Sun. Their Archer Missiles had proved to be successfull and their traps and all tehir equipment that the Government and UziCorp had worked so hard to make did better than they ever imagined. Any remaining ground pounders that still put up a fight were shot on teh spot by snipers. The soldiers cheered as tehy watched the enemy armor roll back to teh beaches. The fleets were disengaging from each other and Fluffywuffy was returning home. This day was a glorious one for Green Sun. One for the record books.
-----------------------------------
Later that day, Empress Natasha and General Homer led a Press conference.
"Sir! General Homer, what is your plan for Green Sun now?"
"I plan to reenforce Green Island and try to get more recruits. We'll make our navy bigger and better than ever before. UziCorp has said that they will build more Archers and toughen the Silos' defense. As for now, we're going to repair and rejoice. I know this isn't over. And I don't plan to be on the losing end next time."
"Empress Natasha, Prince Jordan is going to repalce you once he marries. How do you think he will deal with the next invasion from FluffyWuffy?"
"Jordan is an excellent diplomat and polititan. Jordan will deal with it better than any of our leaders have dealt with situations like this ever have."
"Homer! What about the protesters about rebuilding the democracy?"
"They've got to realize that when we had democracy it brought two civil wars with several factions only upset about the fact of how unpopular they were. It's for the best of Green Sun that I stay in office."

Encoded Transmission to, Empress Natasha and General Homer, Green Sun.
From: Emperor Balor, Yallak.

My Lord and Lady of Green Sun,

Although you have suffered at the hands of Fluffywuffy
you must continue your war with them.
Our Intelligence is tracking the enemy withdrawing to defend
their homeland from us.
We ask you to keep pressure on them by attacking them
from the flank.
Our forces have already annihilated an enemy fleet and
your assistance will see Fluffywuffy collapse even sooner
than we can see it done.

Yours Sincerely
Emperor Balor

Ruins of Garrentston

The attack although expected upon entering the town was still a surprise, especially in the form of a diverse trio, and a cape wearing maniac.
The assault infantry’s vests protected them from glancing shots and fragmentation (although 2 soldiers were injured) but the direct hits from the M-60 fire took two soldiers down. However, the highly trained imperial squad was quick to react and they moved into positions behind the tank. The battle then ended within seconds.
The squad moved down the street.

“This is interesting, get the Sergeant”

One of the men moved off and returned a moment later with their officer. The looked down to see what was so important. On the ground, just a few metres from where the dead guerrillas lay, was a sewer entrance. The crazed trio so busy trying to kill they hadn’t done a great job of covering their tracks.
The Sergeant turned to the men nearby

“Take the dead and the wounded back to the beach”

Then he pulled his communicator out.

“All units, 4 enemy neutralised, sewer entrance located as source. Flush them out but move with caution.”

Across the length of the city, Assault infantry units swept the city streets and enterable building. Any sewer entrance located was flipped open and sprayed with fire to kill anyone waiting in ambush at the entrance before a canister of VX nerve gas was thrown in, and the entrance was demolished with C-7 charges.

Beachhead
At the landing zone, the entire remainder of the 7th legion had rolled of the beach and moved forward towards Garrentston, where they were formed into a complete blockade of the city.
The 2nd and 3rd Legion held the flanks the Yallakian line so no attack could be launch on the rear of the 7th Legion.

General Caracas himself was now at the city. A speaker system was set up on the hull of his tank. Although they were in the sewers, Caracas knew they would be able to hear him.

“Attention soldiers and citizens of Garrentston. This is General Caracas of the Imperial Army of Yallak. What happened here was an example to your country; if they disturb the stability of this region with war then the consequences will be dire. Whether you know it or not, many if not most of you, are already dead or dying from the gas released into your tunnels. So I give you this offer. Surrender and you will be given the antidote or remain in hiding and die.
In 20 minutes any living thing inside Garrentston sewers will be dead. Make your choice.

Imperial Fleet

The Fleet continued north, getting ever closer to Nellisland waters, yet still at a constant 500km distance from Fluffywuffy coast.

Admiral Dagon entered the bridge having received word of Fluffy’s withdrawal from Green Sun.

“Eventually that will TRY to stop us. Once they cross into the western seas of the region I wonder where they will supply.”

He looked at the digital map of Fluffywufy generated on the table in the centre of the bridge. On the map were several ports on the west coast.

“These are all the ports we know have pinpointed on the coast. Destroy them”

Sirens wailed in the ships as missile ports opened and the methodical cruise missile strikes of the ports began.

Secret IC reply:
Which do you suggest: Mercenaries or covert operation? I hear that the Urban Rangers are doing a special, so we might hire them to place a few eplosives. We need to rebuild our losses and reenforce ourselves.

The nerve gas--damn those fools who rushed out before the order was given!--was very deadly, and in minutes 3/4 of the resistance fighters would be dead. The other 1/4 gaurded less accessable entrances, such as openings into rivers and streams (which also served as emergency escape routes), and also resided in the deeper section of the sewers. These few survivors rounded up and exited via a tunnel exiting into a stream before circling back to enter Garrentston. Just 2,500 men women and children, some trained, some not, remained to fight, and these semi-soldiers would not die in the sewers from the gas nor would they surrender both their bodies and their honor to the enemy. They followed the ancient code of honor in Fluffywuffy, which was victory at all costs, and, if no victory can be had, defeat if it means a new victory can spring from it. The loudspeakers talking about "regional stability"--what citizen of Fluffywuffy gave a crap about "regional stability?"--merely enraged them.

There was no brave war cry, no cheer for victory or death. The cries of guns could be heard, and little other besides the occassional order from those with actual military experience. James Stewart had snuck out of the tunnels also, but he and a dozen of his best men went their own way, choosing not to join battle. But they did not march toward the soldiers of Fluffywuffy. The weapons and armor from a few Yallakian soldiers had been taken from the battle (OOC: there's bound to be at least 13 dead of your soldiers by now, I suppose.) and given to James and his men. They had practiced speaking in the Yallakian accent (or language, if applicable) and had knowledge of Yallakian ranks and their military, hopefully making them easily pass for a squad of Yallakian infantry. To erase all doubts, this squad turned and fired on the rest of the freedom fighters, easily finishing off what amounted to a platoon of resistance fighters before taking cover in a building. An urgent message from Admiral Zakharii had been sent to him, and he had a mission to accomplish at all costs.

____________________

Admiral Zakharii looked over the maps once again. New information from fighters in Garrentston and sattelite overpasses had updated the location and size of several Yallakian units, and the digital map had been updated to reflect this. Also on the map were several marks showing damage to multiple ports on Fluffywuffy's western coast. A few supply ships had been sunk, and a few port facilities had been damaged, but that wouldn't be of any concern just yet. Much of his fleet was still intact and that was a good thing. His own resupply ships had easily compensated for the loosed rounds spent defending the fleet from missile attack in Green Sun, and his only concerns dealt with the army units under his command. They had fought and expended ammunition and fuel, and they would need their own supplies shortly after they landed. Under the current plan, the army units would break off and land on the eastern coast in a small convoy, while the fleet continued forward to engage the enemy.

Just then, the thought of logistics put yet another crazy idea in Zakharii's mind. Yes, that would be perfect. And it would go well with what he was planning. Those airfields would be ready in just a few hours, and the airplanes were already being transferred. Yes, once Zakharii's fleet came into contact with the enemy, all would be ready, even if the enemy steamed straight for him at top speed. And that would only work to his advantage. The submarines were in place, and with the air nearing readiness, as well as some other random assets, Zakharii's idea was near execution. He just hoped it worked.

General Homer was happy with the reconstruction process. The strength of their navy had grew 25% with all the new technology and the repair and rebuilding process. The Fluffywuffy fleet was long gone, but Green Sun was ready to retaliate. All damaged Fire Bases were repaired or rebuilt and most of the Archers were replaced. Since there were no Infantry casualties, their Infantry division only grew. Their Air Force had taken a few hits, but nothing very serious at all. Homer felt Green Sun was ready to kick Fluffywuffy in the shin. He turned from his window overlooking a Tank factory and drew out the declaration of war papers. This was all hush-hush for now. FluffyWuffy would pay for their attack.
--------------------
Empress Natasha knew what Homer was doing and didn't really care. He wasn't sending the entire Green Sun military, but enough to make a difference. She decided she would let Homer deal with foreign affairs, at least until Jordan took office. This would be Green Sun's first real 'War'. Nellisland had called on Green Sun, and Green Sun was going to answer. Natsha just didn't know if it would be better to answer the way Nellisland wanted them to answer, or if there was an alternative reply...
--------------------
It had been many years since Shaku had first stepped into the experimental teleporter that sent him back in time to the present day. He had never spoken to the people of Green Sun, and they had never seen his face, yet they have elected him back into office three times. He knew everything about FluffyWuffy's invasion, but it didn't feel right that they were going to invade them. FluffyWuffy had done something that had been a great good for Green Sun. So he felt it was his responsibility to warn FluffyWuffy. And make them an offer.
Secret IC to FluffyWuffy via VidChat:
"Good day, Emperor. I am Sultan Shaku Sha'amamee of Green Sun. As you probably know, we've been rebuilding our military since the civil war and your invasion. You did us a great thing by super-gluing our nation back together. We owe you, honestly. So I'm going to get to the point: General Homer plans to help Nellisland and her allies. I don't feel it's right that they do that. So here's my offer: Promise not to invade Green Sun ever again and we'll help you drive out the invading powers, whether militarily or diplomaticly. I also ask for an embassy swap and that you agree to join the Circle Alliance, which includes Green Sun, Rouch-Busters, Roman Greece, and Risban. We don't have to be enemies. Nobody has to go to war."

Emperor Jason McCall stood on a balcony at the Imperial Rexicum Palace, watching the people go by on the sidewalks and noting their looks. All of them had that look of determination, of courage, and of defiance. Few had the posture of a defeatist, with their heads hanging low and a face of despair. Still others had a scarily apathetic look, as if they didn't care wether of not Fluffywuffy was occupied or not. And still others had a look of joy, both for wanting the Second Empire to collapse and for the belief that victory was near at hand.

Just then, a messenger strolled onto the balcony. He tapped his Imperial Majesty on the shoulder, and the Emperor's Tyrian purple robes wafted about as the young ruler turned to face the man. "What is it, my son," the Emperor inquired. The messenger simply handed over a manilla envelope labeled EMPEROR'S EYES ONLY. Must be important, the Emperor surmised. With a wave of the ruler's hand, the messenger was gone and the envelope was opened.

To Your Imperial Majesty,

The following message was recieved from what appears to be a rouge general in Green Sun. A few of the Imperial Intelligence Services's analysts have seen this document, as has Admiral Zakharii and the Foreign Minister.

All agree it appears to be sincere. Also, spy satelites over Green Sun have shown that Green Sun has nearly fully recovered from our invasion, and has, in fact, increased its military power. We are already facing multiple opponents (though some of them are, apparantly, too shell-shocked to attack) from all sides and another isn't going to destroy us. We are confident we can achieve victory either way. However, it would be far easier if yet another foreign power were not involved. The Defense Ministry has already drawn up plans tp aid this Sultan Shaku Sha'amamee, and we believe using the guerilla units we can spare would provide maximum bang per soldier. Should the Sultan betray us, they could also repay his damage with interest. In the end, my Lord, it is your call.

Minister James Shucker of the Imperial Intelligence Service

The Emperor's reply was short and efficient:

Sultan Shaku Sha'amamee, this is Emperor Jason McCall. The Second Empire agrees to not invade Green Sun and will join this Circle Alliance. If you require guns in order to stop potential Green Sun involvement, or soldiers to man those guns, we can provide. If you open air traffic with Fluffywuffy, we can provide intelligence agents, guerilla warfare soldiers, and others, via air lines. Sea travel would be best, as it allows the smuggling of arms It would be wise if we could establish a courier system to facilitate secure communications. If you agree, have a man put a dead drop on a bench in front of the Imperial Rexicum Palace. Also, ensure all of our future e-communiques are done via 128-bit secure connections, as this message is. Ensure that only your most trusted advisors see this; do not trumpet this or one who has a tounge that often slips may recieve this.
