Today, the Imperial Layartebian Military has announced plans to retire it's fleet of LGM-30G Minuteman III missiles. Aged and out-dated, the 4,800 missiles will be scrapped and sold. Sales of the remaining missiles will be to a highly close ally of confidentiality.

Replacing the LGM-30G Minuteman III will be the modern, updated, and advanced LGM-30H Minuteman IV. The Minuteman IV will be almost identical to the LGM-30G and it will retain the three MIRV warheads, hard-target penetration capabilities, and relative dimensions. Upgrades include more powerful warheads, a longer range, higher ceiling, better guidance, and a better ability to penetrate missile defense grids.

The new LGM-30H will be 59.71 feet long, 6.07 feet wide, and weigh 80,000 pounds. Silo launched and based, the LGM-30H will have a range between 300 and 12,500 miles, a ceiling of 800 miles, 3 stages, and a speed of 15,000 miles per hour. She will carry 3 MIRV warheads, each equal to 550 kilotons and have an accuracy rating of 100 feet. Each missile will cost $20M.

Aside from the announcement, the ILM conducted a test firing of three missiles. Fired from a base in Venezuela, the missiles proceeded to a test range in Iceland. The missile unarmed MIRV warheads struck with devestating accuracy, 100 feet of their targets. The test, a success, means that the EOL can begin procurement of 4,800 missiles at a cost of $96B total.

Congratulations. Here's hoping the Nargopian Air Force never has to test those missiles out.

In light of the resounding success of the Minuteman IV, the EOL has announced plans to subsequently field a new anti-ballistic missile system to replace the aging Sky Sabre. The new system, the MIM-196 AABMS (Advanced Anti-Ballistic Missile System) consists of two types of missiles.

The MIM-196A AABMS is 20.25 feet long, and 1.12 feet wide. Weighing in at 2,000 pounds, the missile can fly as high as 93 miles, as far as 125 miles, and as fast as 6,500 mph. With that range, it can cover 12,265.625 square miles. The missile uses a hit-to-kill interceptor to destroy incomming missiles and claims a 90% single-shot kill probability. The MIM-196B is 4 feet longer, 1,800 pounds heavier, and can reach an altitude of 150 miles and a range of 300 miles. The addition of an extra booster and better guidance allows it to cover an area of 70,650 square miles. The MIM-196B claims 97% SSKP and uses a hit-to-kill vehicle as well.

An MIM-196 site is a mobile site with 5 MIM-196A launch vehicles and 5 MIM-196B launch vehicles. This gives it the capability of 50 MIM-196A missiles and 40 MIM-196B missiles. In addition there are two mobile operations centers and a radar system. At a price of $10M per site, the EOL plans to field some 8,000 mobile sites to protect major cities and military installations.
