Some information about Doweir: (the quick draft version)
Leader:
General John Csaszar – Supreme Leader of Doweir (head of state and leader for life). [Picture] (http://onfinite.com/libraries/457579/791.jpg) Exact age is unknown, but he is somewhere in his early fifties. See background for more information.
Hobbies: Skiing, observing military drills, shooting range, working out
Marital Status: Widowed (currently has many mistresses)
Children: One son (Marc).
Background:
Doweir was originally a territory of a much larger country called Noweir, which was ruled by a King. Doweir was ruled by a Duke, John’s grandfather. There were a number of other territories in the country as well, however since Doweir was secluded by a mountain range separating it from the rest of the country, the Duke was able to rule Doweir more autonomously than the other parts of the country. The Duke’s son and John’s father was a Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy. When the beloved old Duke died, after 50 years as leader, instead of transferring power to his son, as the people of Doweir wanted, the new King installed one of his assistants as the leader. The people did not take kindly to someone from another territory who they didn’t want in the first place, to rule over them.
The man, named Korgor became a corrupt, evil dictator. He spent most of the money on renovations to the royal palace (now the parliamentary palace) and the military. Although he was officially a Duke, no one would call him that. John had finished school and was completing officer training, meanwhile, the King had been deposed as well as most of the other Dukes in the other territories and the nation was engulfed in a civil war. John’s father was killed when his destroyer was blown up by a fleet from one of many nations looking to capitalize on the instability of Noweir.
John had had enough. The civil war had gone on for almost 10 years and the territory was suffering. He started a rebel group, which most of the army in the region joined, to overthrow Korgor. The military coup was a success, and he was made a general. He, along with others started bringing Doweir back to where it had been when his grandfather had been leader, but at the same time, building new infrastructure and modernizing the region. He was elected the new “leader for life”. He was a military man, and didn’t feel comfortable calling himself a “Duke”.
Meanwhile, as Doweir was stabilizing, the civil war was raging on in the rest of the country. John successfully repelled two attacks by other territories trying to get their hands on Doweir’s natural resources and military equipment. John declared independence 4 years ago, and the region was renamed the Rogue Nation of Doweir. It took a lot of work to finally be officially recognized by the UN and the international community as an official nation.
At the same time, other territories that made up the old country of Noweir also declared their independence and Noweir seized to exist.
The Capital:
Resmond is the capital of Doweir. It has 3 million people and is located 30 miles/50km from the coast, on the river Loupe.
Geographical:
The shape of the country looks almost like a square. It is landlocked on three sides, and the fourth side borders the ocean. The land is quite mountainous, but there are also lush valleys and flatlands which make great farming. The mountain peaks have snow year round, but Resmond and most other large cities get only a sprinkling of snow in the winter and remain at a pleasant temperature for most of the year.
Political:
Tensions have flared up with neighbouring country Scoteir. The two countries are currently involved in a war.
Many international relations have been established, and there are now over a dozen embassies in the country, with more looking to be established.
Please note, more info can be found from Doweir’s NS homepage.
