Important Characters in Kordo

Loyalist / Government Personel

Rick Kordo
Age: 24
Sex: Male
Military Position: Commander and Chief of Kordo Armed Forces
Bio: While relatively unknown outside of Kordo or even within, Rick Kordo son of Jack Kordo II, was widely considered a rising star within the Kordoan Army. Known to be highly intelligent, he rarely made public appearances accept to promote his father’s plans to the youth of Kordo with which he was extremely popular. After the Red Hand seized control, he went into hiding, and took control of the military branch of the Protestant Army, the political Loyalist group. After his father's death he took complete control over the Loyalist forces and led them to victory over the Communist government. Shortly after, he declared himself Emperor of Kordo and currently leads it.

Jack Kordo II Deceased
Age: 41
Sex: Male
Military Position: (Former) Commander-and-Chief
Bio: Son of former President Jack Kordo I, he was elected at age 24, shortly after his father’s death, though laws at that time prohibited someone that young from being elected president. Jack quickly established his position, eliminating or bulling his potential rivals. He then began dramatically increasing the conservative reforms that former chancellors (many of which were members of his family) initiated. Within two years the nation was under military law, and Jack had declared himself ‘…the President for life’ and combined the position of president and chancellor. Jack Kordo II’s current personal life is relatively unknown, however, much of his early years is well documented. By age 18 he fathered two children (Rick age 24, Mary, age 23) with the wife of the then Secretary of Defense, and was believed to have affairs with multiple women. At age 20 he married Linda Martes, daughter of the CEO of the Martes Arms Company. By the time Jack ascended to power they had divorced. He has maintained power, through liberal use of forces, and until recently kept the nation out of foreign affairs. He was killed during the rebellion by The Red Hand, after their forces stormed the complex he was hiding in.

Kevin Lotam
Age: 35
Sex: Male
Military Position: Admiral, Kordo Navy
Bio: Though being the youngest Admiral in Kordo history, he is widely regarded as being the must skilled. He has participated in dozens of small conflicts, and is widely regarded as the premier navel expert in Kordo. Kevin is credited with turning the navel forces of Kordo into a force to be dealt with. Currently, he is in control of navel forces in Kordo.

Henry Rey
Age: 70
Sex: Male
Military Position: Honorary Colonel in Royal Guard
Bio: Known as a political maverick in Kodo, he has served its government loyally, regardless of the leaders political, so much so that he has often been called “The Robert E. Lee of Kordo” for his loyalty to his nation and its leaders, even though he has some times violently disagreed with their views. After the successful rebellion by the Red Hand, he was given charge of the Loyalist forces if only symbolically, and currently lives in Legionnaire.

The Red Hand and Friends
Richard Jo’ha Deceased
Age: 36
Sex: Male
Military Position: (Former) Sergeant in Royal Guards, Leader of Red Hand forces, Commander and Chief of Kordoan Army
Bio: Richard was a brilliant military strategist, specializing in guerilla fighting during his time with the Royal Guards. During the first failed rebellion by Will Kordo, he became disillusioned and turned to the Communist ideas espoused by Will. He stayed loyal however, until he saw the treatment of those who fought in the rebellion. Shortly after, he and several other Royal Guard and Black Force members left their respective units and created the foundation for the Red Hand. He would later combine the various communist and socialist groups in Kordo and lead a successful rebellion that would place him as Premier. He was eventually killed defending the remains of the Royal Palace shortly before his government was completly overthrown.

Will Kordo
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Military Position: N/A
Bio: Cousin to Jack Kordo II and until roughly a year ago, a close friend and personal advisor. He was the former leader and founder of the Special Forces group Black Force, which was the first Special Forces group in the Kordo Armed Forces. He later founded an anti-government group called ‘The Corporation’ with Linda Martes. The group would be the main force that helped cause the first failed rebellion in Kordo. Ironically, he would later be thought dead, killed by the very forces he helped train in a botched raid to arrest him, only to be discovered alive, saved by the troops for interrogation. While he would be later rescued by the Red Hand, he had lost much of his power in his absence and had little significance during the Red Hand rebellion. He now currently lives in hiding as the defacto leader of the now defeated communist goverment.

Linda Martes
Age: 39
Sex: Female
Military Position:(Former)Lieutenant, Kordo Armed Forces, (Former)Commander of Rebel Forces
Bio: A former high school friend of Jack Kordo II, and a former wife, she is now a key General in the rebellion against Jack. She is the daughter of Harold Martes, and heir to the Martes Arms Company, and is worth an estimated 2 billion dollars. She was suspected to have an affair with Will Kordo, around the time of his arrest. Linda helped lead the revolution, though outside of the political battlefield she had little significance on the Red Hand’s successful rebellion. After the overthrow of the communist government she fled into hiding. Her current location is unknown.

Sometimes refered to as 'The Royal Guard' are the best, most highly skilled, and most feared units in the Kordo Army. They are charged with the protection of the Emperor, his family, and other key members of the government along with key areas of interest (Research facilities, Kordo City etc). They are rarely have seen combat outside of Kordo, but are kept inside Kordo’s boundaries in order to help ‘keep the peace.' Equiped with BDU-64 Samson Battle Suits and slightly more heavily armed than normal Mechanized Infantry, they are the most dangerous force in Kordo's armed forces.

The border guards of Kordo answered directly to the Gestapo as an effort to keep close track of immigration and emigration to and from the mainland. (50,000)

Auxiliary Duties
The Gestapo also maintains offices at all Concentration Camps, holds an office on the staff of the SS and Police Leaders, and supplies personnel on an as needed basis to such formations as the Einsatzgruppen. Such personnel, assigned to these auxiliary duties, are typically removed from the Gestapo chain of command and fall under the authority of other branches of the SS.

A Brief History of Kordo

By Noted Historian David Schnell

Early History (10,000 B.C.-1500 A.D.)
Kordo was originally settled in around 3,000 B.C. by persons from the Iberian Peninsula. These peoples were fierce warriors and practiced a religion similar to that of the Druids. However, after colonizing Kordo, they moved deep inland until they had forgotten about how they had gotten to their homeland, forgetting their journey across the sea. Kordo was rediscovered in the 10th century by Viking explorers who quickly established a trading center, turning Kordo into a flourishing trading post. While Viking society and its trading empire crumbled and fractured else where, Kordo remained relatively united, though other European nations and even the Aztec maintained small outposts on the island*. After the 12th Century however, European interest fell and many colonists returned to Europe. And whatever colonist did remain, turned their interest towards internal matters, which spawned a wave of brutal fighting among various factions, each vying for the dominate position.

*Note while it is generally believed that ruins in southwest Kordo belong to that of the Aztec though some argue that they are of a Caribbean based tribe.

The Age of Exploration (1492 A.D.–1800 A.D.)
-Triangle Trade and its Influence on Kordo
With Christopher Columbus’ discovery of the Americas, interest in foreign colonies, especially the in Americas, dramatically increased. And, due to the long distance between the Americas and Europe, Kordo was a logical re-supply post for the European ships. However, the new wave of colonists arriving on Kordo took little interest in Kordo’s resources, but instead turned their attention to the necessities repairing and refitting the ships stopping there. Only one group of peoples, the Prussians, took an active role in colonizing and permanently settling in Kordo. They dominated the island, uniting western and central Kordo in 1785, and finally leading the nation into becoming an official colony of Germany on September 3, 1800.

Kordo’s Emergences into a Modern Nation (1800 A.D.-1932 A.D.)
Though Kordo became a German colony and adopted its laws and much of its culture, the German government, like the other European nations, took little interest in it. With much of its natural resources undiscovered or deemed to expensive to extract, Kordo was considered a backwater colony by many Germans. Overtime it did however develop extensive internal trade, as new natural resources were found in the interior. Eighteen thirty two also saw the founding of Kordo City, named after the Kordo family, the former royal family of Kordo and one that had connections to both the German and Austro-Hungarian royal families.

World War I had a profound impact on Kordo though it sent only five divisions worth of troops to help Germany. These troops returned after the conflict and began the basis of a professional army, based on the German model. However, the army remained relatively backwards and small, with its size staying around twenty divisions at its peak in 1932. Also, many of Kordo’s citizens began pushing for semi- or full autonomy from Germany. In fact, it received semi-autonomy in 1925 after crowds of communist Kordoan’s attacked the German governor’s palace and lynched the governor and his family. This is widely regarded as perhaps the sole instance of communists doing any good in Kordo.

World War II and Kordoan Independence (1933 A.D.-1945 A.D.)
After Hitler’s March 5 take over of Germany in 1933, Kordo, like the rest of Germany, began to prepare for war. Its army which had been decreased to five divisions was expanded to nearly one hundred and fifty and its air force and especially the navy also being increased. Like most Germans, Kordo supported Hitler and the Nazi Party with gusto. However, the Kordoan public became increasingly worried and upset over the treatment of Jews by the Nazi Party and after the Nuremberg Race Laws were decreed on Sept 15, 1935, Kordo erupted in protests. Over the course of one week, nearly five thousand Nazi Party members and Nazi government officials were killed. Finally, in 1941 a young partisan leader and descendent of the original Royal Family of Kordo, Jack Kordo was declared Chancellor by the Kordoan people. He would eventually establish a parliamentary system that was so successful that after WWII, Germany’s government was modeled after it.

When Hitler found out about Kordo declaring its independence he is said to have immediately ordered the execution of every Kordoan German in Germany. Only about two divisions out of the ten escaped execution by their German masters and only about five thousand civilians escaped out of the estimated twenty five thousand living in Germany.

During the war however, Kordo remained neutral, though it often benefited from stolen military technology smuggled back by Kordoan agents. This period consequently saw the development of Kordo’s military might that continues to today. Kordo was also one of the first to offer asylum to any German who wished to leave Germany which also increased its military prowess with the immigration of such war hero’s as Erwin Rommel. With the ending of WWII however, Kordo went into a period of deep isolation, with drastic cuts in every area of spending except the military.

Isolation and Rebirth (1945 A.D.-2004)
After putting Kordo into isolation, Jack Kordo began massive reforms of the government, shaping it into a new nation. Military spending was the only budget item receiving large amounts of funding, with the second largest, commerce, coming in a distant second. 1990 would see the assumption of the chancellorship by Jack Kordo II and the initiation of another round of reforms, these drastically more conservative then his fathers. These reforms quickly gained the ire of the public, which exploded in is now called the First Communist Revolution. While bloody struggle was quickly put down with outside help, it left many of the instigators alive and unhappy.

The Second Communist Revolution and the Rise of the Monarchy. (Early 2005-Present)
As time passed, and little changed in Kordo, unhappiness with the Kordoan government rose to unprecedented levels. And shortly after Jack Kordo I’s death, this unhappiness once again rose to violence. The military structure, which in the previous war had suffered little splintering, shattered with only the navy and the marine core remaining mostly loyal to Jack Kordo II’s government. The communist forces soon took Kordo City and with it a certain amount of legitimacy with it. Loyalist forces, however managed to hold on in western Kordo, using many of the guerilla tactics in the mountainous region that the communists did in the First Communist Revolution, continuously beating back attempts to pacify or even attempts to enter that region.

It would be the communist’s hugely unpopular anti-religious laws that would be its undoing this time. Bolstered by the support of the Protestant Army, the Loyalists began to regain territory. Unfortunately Jack Kordo II would not live to see this. He would be killed several days before the Protestant Army officially joined with the Loyalists, killed when his bunker was stormed by communist forces. Rick Kordo, his young son would take charge in his place, eventually leading the Protestant Army to several major victories and with it the control of the government.

Shortly after seizing control back from the communists, Rick Kordo retook the position of Emperor of Kordo, much to the delight of his people. He continues to hold that position today.
