... and ever since the the Bill of Democratic Imperial Unity (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8838118&postcount=16) passed, the various parties of the Imperial Union has been vieing for re-election. Also, an old favorite is going to run for re-election. Sergei Ilyanov, the President before Robert Chavez was elected, will be running for President under the newly renamed Rosian Socialist Party. Frederick von Hattensberg will also be running under the banner of the Rosian Liberal Imperialist Party, polls say that 87% of the Rosian (not the combined Union) population would love Sergei as Grand Chancellor of the Imperial Union, but the elections are not even occuring yet.
For those who do not know about Rosian politics, the candidites have two months to campaign before elections start. And as political insiders might or might now know, alot of political changes have occured within the Imperial Union. First and foremost, all members of the Imperial Union, i.e. the Chinese IRR, the New Rosian IRR, the New Roskan IRR, and the Cuban IRR, will be able to vote for the Grand Chancellor. This will greatly influence the vote. Because the Imperial Rosian Republics are also voting, they might influence the vote in strange ways. I.E., the Rosian Libertarian Party getting a majority of the seats in the United Imperial Assembly.
Also, there are new political parties on the scene. The Militant Communist Party dissolved and turned into the Rosian Proletarian Party, a Rosian version of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). Another new party, the Rosian Progressive Party, has also come out on the scene. They are moderate capitalists or disgruntiled former libertarians who thought their policies were extreme. Both these parties should be watched throughout the election.
Also, the Rosian Nationalist Party and the Rosian Libertarian Party are not popular in the polls. According to a Union-wide poll, both Parties are un-popular in both Legislative wise and Executive wise.
The election promises to be an interesting one, and the Rose International News Network will bring you coverage as events happens. And now, a brief rundown of the parties.
