Is anybody interested in a World War kind of RP? I was thinking that a handful of lets say, '03 nations, band together to take over the world, and several '04 and '05 nations band together to stop them.

Any comments?

I am interested but I kind off have my own imperalistic going on which could turn into a world war...if you are interested...

I'd be interested too. As it is I'm a kind of pacifistic and isolationist nation, but we have tremendous oil & metal resources and a strong patriotic spirit if war does break out. I will probably have to fight a defensive war though, as my navy is awful.

And can we put it off until June? I don't have any time to RP until then. :(

But be warned, who remembers what happened last time Nerotika tried a world war? I was involved in that, if we go through with it, we would need diligence from all of us!

Since speciesm seems to be on the rise, perhaps the 'trigger' for the World War could be an invasion/occupation/enslavement of a non-human nation?

This would be one of those RPs, but generally economys go up after wars because of production of weapons. Unless you are on the battlefield

Well, if there are aliens involved, it should be futuresque tech, but mostly modern.

Slivers piss people off because they just look at the bonuses, goblins are funny because you RP them that way, and do so rather well I might add.

I'm pewrfectly willing to be the target of foreign agression, although I won't be the agressor, I fight defensively, where my numbers do the most good, or I just swarm things in an offensive campaign but that's a little cost prohibitive so I try to avoid that as much as possible.

X as in a variabl, I know there have been more than five, at least thirteen I know of from other SNs that were deleted from disuse and various other reasons.

You have a point but I reconsidered and it would be more like WW X, the space denoting a change from the roman numeral system and placing X as a variable. And N is the roman numeral for one millionth if I remember, so that would be world war .000001 instead of world war (insert variable of your choice here).

We can call it WWI becuase I'm assuming this would be the first World War in NationStates. However, it will be MT instead of tanks with no guns, poison gas, and airplanes made out of wood, rubber, and cloth.

Just to let everybody know, Goblins arent super-powered, theyre a bit stronger and faster than humans, but to balance theyre also about as smart as a brick...in most cases.
Theyre vaugly similar in anatomical terms, however their copper based blood system (resulting in the green skin, but lets not turn this thread into a debate about blood chemistry, okay?) making them fairly hard to kill with 'conventional' poison gas/bio weapons.

Anyway...

So, this is how I see the plot thus far:
Powerful nation attacks me and/or Mini in an anti-human crusade
Powerful nation is attacked by my/Mini's allies
Powerful nation calls in its allies
NS alliance networks kick in and everybody starts fighting everybody else.

I would suggeste limiting the use of nukes to prevent wankishness, gas/bioweapons should be agreed upon first, but not eliminated seeing as theres going to be nations that get desperate enough to use them.

Finnaly, I suggest we use a 'front' system, meaning multiple RP threads for the war, if lots of people are going to be involved.
This would be agreeing on where your country is located in relation to other countries.
So, we could have a "Blood Moon Front", a "Jaghur Front" and so on. I would say that there should be between 4-8 players per front.

Also, fighting in Blood Moon would be perfect for large-scale battles, since most of it is sort-of wasteland, which is flat and open, although rather cold. Other fronts could be specialized for certain types of warfare. Im sure somebody has a highly urbanized nation, and somebody has a jungle, and somebody else is made up of islands.
This could be fun :)

I dont think many FT nations signed up, mostly just the postmodern (who are usualy acceptable). As I have said, BMG is a purely modern tech nation with a few needed 'variations'.
Nations being scattered around would be sorted out by my 'front' idea, in that big post on the other page.
I dont really want to RP fighting uber-death-ships FROM THE DAWN OF TIME!, since most weapons avalible to me wouldnt even dent them, and a certain lack of highly mobile 20mm rail cannons means that most of my forces would be rather innefective against even basic FT ground troops.

I'm going to add: I am a postmodern tech '05 nation fighting a defensive war, unwillingly drawn into the war, inhabited by humans, on the side of democracy, liberalism, freedom, morals, and everything good in this world. Mainly because such things contradict with my OOC personality. ;) I will be willing to join by early June, around the 6th to the 10th, but if any nations need more time I can wait.

In other words...a bump.

So...er, who else saw Episode III? I went to the midnight premiere. :D

My Idea: A massive war between the Altreanions and the Zaritirites. set in the year 2550 the Altreanions are a peaceful earth-harmony environmentally baed people who live in villiages of no more than 20,000 with 100 villiages in a single centres and have have 178 centres. Although they have no official army thet do have replicant/cyborg capabilities and could manufacture up to 200 million rep. soldiers. They can also manufacture artillary, tanks, ships and warcrafts when needed. (Manufacturing is done underground in 100% automated pollution free plants.)

Zaritirites live in 221 cities and have a popultaion between 400-500 million people. They have massive heavy polluting industry but the industry has drastically declined due to labor cost. They need a source of cheap labor to fill their factories.(They do not have tech to create automation or replicants) Their plan is to conquer the altreanions and take them back as slave labout to fill their plants.

What do you think?

Hmm, yeah, even if people could take different stances on that, its a bit to far in the future for what we were planning, if you somehow put it back into the era we want it in, it'd be near perfect...

Further information about me: Postmodern, nonhuman RPer. Usually prefers brute-force tactics and weapon design. Willing to act in aggressive imperialistic role. Willing to use WMDs.

I suggest we create a forum (if anyone can host, that would probably be preferable; else from a free site), so that we can easily have seperate threads for different campaigns/battles/etc. and reduce thread clutter by doing so. I'd be willing to try and arrange a forum to use.

I also suggest that we do NOT use a fixed timescale, as such can cause problems due to the unpredictable intrusions of Real Life into NationStates. Fluid time is preferred, although to keep the whole thing vaguely synchronized large steps forward in time (i.e, moving from one year to another) should be agreed upon by vote. Poll topics in aforementioned forum would be useful for this.

it's an idea with good intentions, but most players lose interest in these kind of boards fairly quickly
