The men of Dol Amroth had finally reached the end of the Black mountains. They were gazing at thegreat lakes and fields that were tilled by slaves. There were many enemy orcs around, but none had looked up at the smallish force. They decided to wait until dark, when they could begin the slave rebellion against Sauron.

Eastern Osgiliath, Gondor
Faramir withdrew from the Werewolf for a moment, but then he saw his chance as a mighty ent flew into combat against the werewolf, and he saw his chance. The ent threw the beast back time and time again, and Faramir could see no opening. But then, as the wolf flew snarling at the ent, he saw his chance. He lept up, buoyed by the thought of killing this dreadful creature, and his blade came down, down, directly over the foul abberation's head.

The Guards of the Fountain Court formed a wall of steel around the raging combatants, hewing down all foul minions that came in their way.

Western Osgiliath, Gondor
Boromir gazed down from the wall, looking out over the battle. He knew he should be over there, helping his brother, but a niggling sense made him make one last sweep of the battlefield. Out of the corner of his eye, he glimpsed an orc, and he swiftly turned his head, and watched them land beyond the wall. Then, Haldir and a small group of elves charged into them, and Faramir knew what he must do. He raised the Horn of Gondor to his lips, and blew, a great, clear sound, echoing over the battle. At his call, 100 Tower Guards, Boromir's personal company brought from Minas Tirith, came up, and he drew his sword, the ancient Numenorean carvings blazing in the bright light of day, and they charged. To the end of the wall, and down the steps, a tidal wave of Gondorian fury rushed, their numbers few, but their courage unabated. They crashed into the orcish flank, and cleaved into the evil creatures. Their shield wall was nigh unbreachable, and in the center of the line of battle stood Boromir, his sword rising and falling like a man possessed, as indeed he was, the wrath of the Steward of Gondor falling on these hapless servants of the Dark Lord.

IC: Morwen stuffed her wound with material and carried on decapitating wargs on board her horse, she tried to see Faramir in the crowd

Morwen could feel herself getting weaker, she would not give up, she breathed in and mumbled a rangers spell, she felt herself fill up with energy-- she saw Faramir behead the wolf, she trotted up to him.
'good job' she said smiling widely, her long auburn hair blew in the wind, she looked so elegant on board her big grey horse, she then galloped off to contine fighting - hoping she would see him later.

IC:
The werewolf sensed danger and tried to deflect Faramir's blow by hitting the sword with its claws. Alas he was to tired and weak from the battlw with the massive, burning ent and the blade came crashing down. It didn't kill him but it dealt him a great blow and gave him a large wound in the back, just below the lungs. With animalistic fury he made a leap for Faramir's throat, eyes burning with hatred and the white teeth shone like diamonds.

The orcs trying to cross the river Anduin were decimated and weakened by the enemy yet continued and finally reached the shore. From there they hurried up to the walls and towers they had tried to storm earlier and, using their ladders, tried again.

Grumbulz circled round Imrahil when the human forgot all training and attacked him head first. The mighty blows made his shield arm ache and he rewarded them with the strong blows of himself.

Thrakthun was little bothered by the heat of the flames on his body, using it to his advantage.Pressing into the melee,he grabbed Karcharothen and threw him into the press of orcs.Tens of orsc were sent tumbling, before being crushed underfoot as Thrakthun propelled himself into and through the horde, following the werewolf which was limping away into the ruins, its wounds already rapidly closing up,to gain time to recover.

Imrahil's shield bent and buckled, he reverted to his former fighting stance. He moved on his feet quickly, his sword seeking and lunging, flickering across the space between the two adversaries. The orc (he is an orc right??) backed away, or desperately parried. Imrahil saw an opening, and his blade came up into the quatre bras fencing block. The orc saw how weak it was, and knocked it aside with contemptuous ease. To the watching orcs, Imrahil seemed to be desperately going back, forced to make his counter-attacks from the back foot. He tripped over, and let go of his shield.

The orc stood over him, but ever since the weak quatre bras, Imrahil had planned the fight, and his free hand held a fistfull of dust and small stones. He flung it at the orcs face, and rose to the attack once more.

Darahil ducked, an orc's body flying over his head from the Ent's ferocious attacks. He also saw the were-wolf limping away, and calling thre of his men to follow him, the one's with two-handed swords, he followed the beast into the ruins.

Mordor: Shamain ducked the desperate blow, and with his return blow lopped off the orcs head. Good, he thought none of the guards had escaped, killeed by his men. The slaves who were part of the convoy were the newest slaves, the strongest and freshest, and they stared in wonder as the Swan Knights began to give out weapons. He saw men with the destinctive heavy brow and high cheekbones of Do9l Amroth, and these he gave halberds. They were here to start a rebellion, and it was beginning.

Faramir swung down his sword, just in time to meet the bared teeth of the ferocious beast. However, his sword was locked in, and he felt the heavy claw of the wolf crashing into his side, cleaving through his chainmail. He fell back, but he saw arrows fly toward the beast. Before he could see if they hit, the mighty ent bodily picked up the wolf and hurled him against a wall. Faramir heaved himself up, and quickly applied herbs to his wound, causing it to close up, even if some of the pain was still there. He ignored it, leaping over rubble and dead indiscriminately, turned to face the beast once again, his sword up. He saw Darahil and two of his men come up.

With a crash,Thrakthun lunged after the werewolf with terrifying speed.Where the werewolf had been burnt by the flames on Thrakthun's body, the wounds didn't heal,or healed very slowly.Blood matted its dark fur and it panted slowly as it eyed the flaming Ent,the two mighty beasts of legend.

With a sudden flash of speed,Thrakthun grabbed the werewolf in his mighty limbs and started to pound it into the ground, only to have it slip out.Karcharothen knew it was cornered.Facing the mighty Ent,it prepared to meet its doom.Just as it was prepared for a final leap upon the Ent and incinerate itself in the flames, for it was better do die in flames than be crushed by an Ent,it saw Darahil and Faramir approaching it from behind the Ent.Its prey came to it now. With a beastial roar,it knocked over a support column, causing tonnes of rubble to collapse upn the Ent,which fell to the ground underneath it,its bulk barely visible underneath the countless rocks and debris.

Rushing to engage Faramir and Darahil,it dashed Darahil and his men to the ground before leaping upon Faramir to finish him. From the rubble,a furious rumbling could be heard, but was drowned out by the sound of orcs clambering over the rubble to the aid of Karcharothen.

IC: The werewolf lunged at Faramir, going for the throat once again. It wounds healed slowly but it was still badly hurt and couldn't take much more. It was burning and smelt of blood and burned flesh.
More orcs were coming to it's aid while som stayed behind to deal with the ent, should it rise again.

Grumbulz roared with fury and backed away, holding his shield up for cover and wiping the sand out of his eyes. As soon as he could see again he lifted the sword with both his hands and tried to land a great horizontal blow on Imrahil's right side.

Imrahil simply blocked the big blow, his own blade jarred, and rebounded into his side, it did no damage though, simply bouncing off his armour. Swining his own blade, he cleared the orcs blade away, and got inside the orc's guard. He then head butted it on the bridge of it's nose and heard a satisfying crunch. hile the orc reeled, he raised his gauntleted hand and began to squeeze the life out of it's throat.

Darahil's men turned and began hacking at the orcs who were scrambling towards the were-wolf over the rubble. Their blades rose and fell, cutting through orcish armour with ease, notching the crude scimitars. Darahil himself advanced towards the wolf. He had marvelled at Imrahil's strength, the wolf had simply brushed Darahil off his feet, yet Imrahil had stayed all it's blows and done well.

Darahil sliced a chunk off the wolf's side. He stepped back, and watched as the beady, evilly intelligent face turned towards him and growled. He could see it's pain and it's fur still smouldered. He smiled calmly, then started to fight.

Shamain's men battered through the gate with a large log that they had found. He then led his men into the courtyard, where the startled and surprised orcs waited. They held back, and waited until the first of their number was being killed by Swan Knights, before they turned and fled into the keep, where the freed slaves vengeance could be heard resounding around the walls. The Slave Revolt in east Mordor was in full swing, and the ebemy still had to do something about it.

Faramir barely blocked the blow to his neck. He could feel his strength ebbing away, the strain of constantly fighting the frocious beast was telling on him. However, with a roar he lunged in again, his blade coming in on the wolf's side, runes of Numenorean power shining in the midday sun.

His Guards of the Fountain Court joined the Swan Knights, blades slicing down indiscriminately.

Eastern Osgiliath

With a mighty bellow audible from all points in the city and that burst the eardrums of the bararum directly on top of him,Thrakthun heaved himself off the ground with, debris scattering in all directions, stone powder drifting off him in the slight breeze, the flames on his body smothered, leaving charred and scorched areas of his trunk visible.Slightly battered but no less weakened,he brought a bararum to his mough and gnashed on it,cutting it in half before swinging his way through towards the werewolf.

Look out Faramir! bellowed the Ent,stomping through orcs that laid ineffectual blows to his legs that only slightly stung him.Balling his hand into a fist,he clubbed the werewolf into the ground, leaving a crater,Faramir having jumped aside bareliy in time.Raising his fist again,he pummeled the werewolf into the crater, shattering its backbone, pelvis and neck, leaving it paraliysed. At this moment,3 trolls chose to appear out of the thick smoke that drifted through the ruined city, charging in the direction of Faramir.Only to stop in their tracks at the sigh if the Ent.The legendary Thrakthun Firebane Trollslayer eyed the trolls before striding towards them......

Faramir, cut the werewolf down before he heals. He is paralysed now and this is the only chance you have.I will deal with the trolls.

Forest outside Osgiliath

The Enthost hid within the forest, hurling great boulders into the Mordorian horde from the depths of the forest, ripped up as they were from the forest floor.Ythan directed their aim unerreingly, aimed at the orcs approaching towards them and the constant stream of reinforcements heading towards Osgiliath. The constant barrage of boulders was slowly taking its toll on their morale, and soon Ythan would send Motyr and his grove of Treants directly into the city to aid in the destruction of the trolls and bararum within.

He had but 50 elves with him, the others where still crossing the river, but he charged at the Orcs, crying his warcry, "The Lady! The Lady of the Wood," He fired off one, two arrows and then threw his bow aside, drawing his long sword and diving into the Orcs who slashed back at him.

Boromir ran after the fleeing orcs, the Tower Guard following, cutting vast swaths in the orcs as they ran, making up for their encumbered movement with the long pikes they carried, etched with Numenorean runes. Boromir raised the Horn of Gondor to his lips, and blew, a long, clear blast, cutting through the din of battle. Thrakthun swept aside the bararum and grappled with the lead troll, lifting it directly overhead and slowly crushing it into a ball of gore, leaving a clue as to his intentions to the other trolls, who had managed to get out of reach barely in time.Gore coating his trunk, the Ent stood drenched in troll blood and his own sap.

Stomping an Uruk as he advanced on them,he dodged the impact of countless boulders that were thrown at him, mercifully inaccurate, but due to sheer number, some still managed to hit him either glancing or direct blows.,battering him even further. However, even an Ent had limits, and he was nearing his.But not yet.He still had plenty of endurance to carry out what needed to be done.Plucking a boulder from the ground,he used his immense strength to roll them forwards ahead of him, bowling aside the countless orcs in the way.Behind him,he heard Faramir,Imrahil and their men charging towards him, while he cleared a path through the orcs towards the trolls.

All of a sudden, and out of the blue, the werewolf chose to leap upon him and started to tear at his face. With a groan of frustration,Thrakthun tore him off his face and hurled it forward, only to see a boulder heading straight for him at hight speed. The orcs had dragged a catapult into the street and launched a boulder and point blank range at him.it collided with him, sending him flying backwards and leaving a deep furrow in the street.

Suddenly,at the site of the catapult, what looked like a miniature Ent similar in size to a troll suddenly smashed it apart, sending debris flying in all direction.Crashing through a building,Mortyr and his Treants and come to the rescue.

A mere mortal women attempted to help the Treants,a female ranger.Rare and practically unheard of.Mortyr had seen only 4 in his time since the Second Age of Middle Earth. She was the 5th.While her help was appreciated,it was hardly needed as the Treants used their razor claws to rip apart the trolls into bloody shreds within a matter of seconds, their strength a match for the trolls, thick bark armouring their bodies.

Mortyr helped Thrakthun to his feet, the old Ent Chief battered scorched, branches broken and bark scored with axe marks and fire. With a limp,Thrakthun strode through the maze of streets towards the waiting Enthost, where he would be properly healed with time and water.

Treebeard looked on at the ruins around Orthanc, all that remained of Isengard and the great mounds of orc corpses starting to rot. They would provide decent fertiliser for Fangorn forest.

Off in the distance,Bloodleaf cleared the last of the Uruk-Hai away, leaving them no chance to regroup and counterattack.Water inundated Isengard and washed away all in its path,in many parts too deep for anything but an Ent to access, striding along on the bottom.

Smoke rost distantly from Lothlorien, where he had dispatched Bloodsoil and his grove of Huorns to aid the Golden Wood in its time of need.No Ents or Huorns but many trees had been lost in the conflict over Isengard, and Treebeard would delegate Bloodleaf to be its warden, while he took the greater part of his Enthost to Ithilien, from where they would strike at all Haradrim attempting to cross into Gondor.

Encircled by the vast army of orcs from Dol Guldur, Lothlorien stood like a beacon against the bruised evening sky, rain seeping from it at long last causing the many forestfires to sputter and fizzle. For about half a mile around the walls of Galadriel's stronghold, the woodslands who once stood so mighty and lush had been turned into a vast, smoldering wasteland.

Khamùl the Easterling, One of the Nine, Ringwraith of Mordor, sat perched atop his mighty charger as the first few droplets of rain began to fall around him. His forces had performed well here, and had wrought much damage upon the elven realm. He was pleased. The power of Sauron, lord of Mordor, had truly been asserted.

With the remainer of forest fires either dying on account of the gusts of wind created by the Lady, or sputtering in the current rain, Khamùl ordered his remaining formations in the forest ot advance upon the capital of Lothlorien, strenghtening the forces laying siege to it there.

Setting up provisory camps well outside the range of enemy archer fire, the orcs heralded the comming siege with one of their guttural battle chants, coarse and brutal in nature...

"...First we flay! Then we slay!..." The call went up among the orcish work gangs as they began putting shovels and pickaxes to good use, undermining the city's mighty walls by digging under it.

* * *

On the westernmost front, however, the trek towards the elven capital was still in progress. Having marched all but a small detatchement of his forces well back up across the river, Ishaq Yrmgrens scouts found a suitable crossingpoint and began bringing the Moria army well across the mighty stream. Soon, they would do battle with the hated elven defenders whos arrows ahd pestered them and diminished their numbers for so long...

"Victory!" Faramir shouted at the top of his lungs. The cry was taken up by the tattered remnants of the rear guard, and heard across the river. Boromir immediately ordered the crossing of 50,000 soldiers of Gondor, to secure the entirety of Osgiliath. They quickly crossed the river and destroyed the remaining orcish catapults, but halted at the walls of Osgiliath, not following the orcs out into the plains. The ancient wall was beginning to be rebuilt, twice as thick and high, to defend the holdings of Gondor. The trebuchets were taken from their placements across the Anduin, and dragged to new tower emplacements in East Osgiliath. However, the heavy machines were cumbersome, and would take further time to set up.

The two brothers met at the wall, embracing. Gondor had been victorious this day.

However, word from the north was grim. Lothlorien was beset by wraiths and goblins. Boromir approached Haldir, and said, "We have heard of the troubles in your homeland. Although your help has been greatly appreciated, and we value your elves' skills highly, we realize that you may be needed in the Golden Wood. If you need to leave, do so with the grace of the Steward. We will send what troops we can spare with you."

Haldir nodded, "I shall rest but for one day, then we march north, if our aid has not gained us help then we shall march alone, if it has then we shall be glad of any assistance." He was cold and tired and he knew that there was little he could do until he rested but still he was consumed by a disire to march. Sence wreastled with anger in his mind as he sought to subdue the emotions of hate and fear for the orcs and his homeland.

How could they, the scum attack Lorien the fair, the jewel of the world, home to innoccents, even while it was weakened.
-------------------
In the city of Lorien, (I've just read the book, again. it has a huge wall.) the elves made reacdy for the seige, they could hear the chants of orcs as the great enermy sought to undermine there walls.

Arms where issued to the ordanary people, any child old enough to hold a weapon and understand what do with it was armed. The defenders of the west withdrew to the city before it was surrounded, leaving the woods to the enermy.

First there was the problem of stopping the Orcs from undermining the walls, there seemed little way of stopping them, but such work would take many days. The enermy had to dig over 350 metres, underground all the time holding it up and transporting the soil away. It would take a lot of manpower and many pit collapses to do so.

The defenders vactated the sections of wall that would collapse and set up barracades around the walls, blcoking of streets and guarding them with there best men.

Help would come soon. It had to.

Lothlorien

Towards the edge of the mighty forest, now burning,a great cloud of shadow preceded a core of impenetrable night, the rustling of leaves and an oppressive atmosphere of fury the only thing that could be sensed.

Among the remnant trees that had survived the fire,a kindling of ancient fury and motion was born,as Bloodleaf talked to the trees,so long having been absent from this part of the once mighty Fangorn Forest that had spread even into the now destroyed Beleriand before even the Elder Days.

Destruction by bararum wrought.Their doom at the branches and roots of Huorns,Ents and angry trees bought.Even the hills of the forest moaned as they felt the mighty anger, the Krazilek of fury mounting at the destruction wrounght.

A Krazilek directed upon the Orcs.

Osgiliath
Leaving the ruined fortress city to the humans, the Ents withdrew to the Enthost and moved towards their original destination.Ithilien.There to awaken the Black Huorns, mightiest of Huornkind, with hearts turned to blackness against all except animal and elf by Morgoths ruinous wars upon them. Those who would could be commanded only by the oldest living being in Middle Earth.

The Chieftain of All Ents.Fangorn himself.

In the meantime,a greater part of the Enthost returned to Fangorn itself,to heal and recover, while a small force of Treants led by Mortyr and perhaps a few hundred Huorns in all would serve as the honour guard of Fangorn(Treebeard),who would arrive soon.Thrakthun himself would return to Fangorn and guard it while the others played their part in this final war.

OoC: Arrived at Lorien, you say? As in *Lothlorien*? Hmm... You know, I could have sworn I had that place surrounded and under siege. Strange. I must have mixed it up with someplace else.

BiC: A mighty roar resounded from the orcs as the first portions of the city walls began to collapse and fall asunder. Formations of orc's rapidly assembled, donning armour and readying weapons for the fighting ahead.

"Remember now boys, ye aim fer the neck or tha groin" Gruzlug, a tall, muscular orc with a wide scar running from the lower left side of his face and up to the bridge of his nose, roared at the soldiers around him. With any luck, he would be among the first ranks to enter the city of the enemy, and engage in brutal battle with the hated elves. "Jus' chop 'em quick an' 'ard like" he continued, gesturing with the broad scimitar-like sword clenched in his ringed right hand "It's that niftiest way to kill 'em, mind ya step well back after ye've done that deed, 'ere they might get ta take you with 'em 'fore they go fer a wee little dirt-nap!" At these last words, he guffawed loudly to himself, his surrounding comrades joining him in a harsh, brutal laugh. Soon, there would be blood to spill.

Elsewhere among the orc ranks, other preparations were also being made. "Wha' in tha bleedin' blazes is that stench?" Yozrug the orc hissed as a rank odour, offensive even to him, assailed his nostrils "It's what ye get when ya leave yer weapons lying in tha open gut-craw of these pantsie-elfs." Ogtar, the slant-eyed huntsman next to him responded. "The spearheads of these 'ere javelins 'ave been lying nice an' nimble-like inside tha open wound o' that pointy-eared fool they kelled las' week, an now they're bound ta bring disease an' Bad Shake's ta any idjit that gets a prick o'them, eh?"

The tactics utilised by the first wave of orcs who entered the city would not be to grind the attackers down in hard hand-to-hand combat, but to give as many of them as possible a nick or two with a poisoned spear tip or a festering arrow-head, and then let disease and weariness do it's hallowed work. These things pleased Khamùl, and within the darkness of his grey hood, the ghost of a smile played around the cracked remnants of ghostly lips.

Moria Orcs.

With the elven defenders withdrawing back to their besieged capital, the Moria-orc's moral sank somewhat. They had been hoping to slaughter and maim an outnumbered enemy, but now they found that their hated foe had withdrawn to even yet another defensive position.

By the looks of things, however, this would be their last. Ishaq Yrmgren urged his followers forward, following hot on the trail of the retreating elves as they closed in on the Lothlorian capital...

"...The Golden Wood is burning down,
Burning down, Burning down,
All it's children dying now,

OOC:sorry for not rping for a while

Darahil and Imrahil, as well as their remaining 19 bodyguards raised their bloodstained swords in the air, and cheered wearily. Each one had killed at least twenty of the enemy, and they were all tired and each was cvered by a score of cuts and dried blood caked their faces and armour. As they cheered, some of the blood around their mouths flaked off and crumbled to fall at their feet.

Darahil and Imrahil hugged each other as brothers, not the distant cousins that they were. They each looked in wonder at their blades and broken buckled armour. It was then they Imrahil realised that Darahil was giddily swaying, and with a mighty crash of armour that sounded like pots and pans falling to earth, he collapsed. The skies were dark overhead, and thunder boomed only seconds after the first flash of lightning illuminated Darahil's stricken face. Imrahil and the bodyguard hurriedly carried Darahil back to his tent, where the best of the surgeon's in Dol Amroth's army rushed to help him.

----

An hour later, Darahil's last was breathed, and the death rattle was expelled from his lips. A great chunk had been found torn out of his side from one of the orcs crude scimitars. Fighting on with this wound, he had attacked the werewolf, only to be bitten and have a small chunk taken out of his neck. After the were-wolf had fled, he had covered his wounds up with his cloak and carried on fighting. Before he had died, he had taken a deadly poison to make sure he died. All knew what could happen if the werewolf's poison had spread, and Darahil had no wish to turn into one of those foul kind.

Imrahil sat outside among the rin, and there was water on his face not caused by the rain. He was soaked to the bone and he knew he should clean his sword to prevent it rusting. However looking up at the dim outlines of Osgiliath, he thought he could see a large tree shape heading towards him. He got up and started walking towards Thraktun, yet only 50m away, he collapsed from fatigue and the weight of his armour.

----

Shamain and his men were pulling their arrows out of yet more orc bodies. The slaves fought with a ferocity unknown to an of the Dol Amrothians. With food inside them, they fought with a frenzy against the beasts which had not only imprisoned them, but had taken their children and wives away..... they were not fit to work, ony fit for fattening up.
Shamain and his men had harnessed that fighting frenzy, and now the slaves had a little drill inside them too. Now they knew how to kill the orcs, and how to aim for the vulnerable parts... the most pain inflicting but not painful to the orc being on the end of his nose.
Every convoy of food for the orcish outpost on the edge of the slave area had been ambushed by the men, and no mercy was shown to the unprepared orcs, who thought that they were safely deep in their own territory, and so marched along with unstrung bows and no armour. They were easy pickings.

IC: In the city the elves waited behind there barackades, waiting for the orcs to invade the great city, it would be a hard fight and they new it. There where 3 streets around the area that would collapse and those streets where barracked and lines and liens of Elvin worriors waited.

it would be a difficult task for any orc to thread a arrow through the maze of wood to a loophole, or to clime across the stakes in front, and the elves where prepared for missiles and orcs coming over the top, sheids where raised above there heads to ward to missiles and pikes lay on the floor ready to be risen if the orcs came too close.

The exchange of arrow fire would be feice but elvin accuracy would surly win they had cover, rate of fire and targets while it would take a incredably lucky arrow from the orcs to hit a loophole.

The problem of the barrackades made of wood had been though of and there centre was of stone, stone that would not burn and should the flames become to feice there where other barrackades further back to withdraw to.

There elves defending the barrackades where the professinal soildiers, 3,000 men clustered into 3 narrow streets, sheilds protecting there heads. Further back, protecting gladrials tree as a last resort where the women, children and gladrial herself, all armed.

And so silence reigned over the vast orcish encampment spread around the city of Lorien. Indeed, activity seemed to be plentyfull, but so far, no attack seemed to be forthcomming.

Had the plans been cancelled? Was the enemy going to lift the siege, or had the Dol Guldur horde simply decided to break the stubborn defenders' will by starving them out?

And while one might navel-gaze all day as to what the orc's were brewing up in their encampment, perceptive eyes could perhaps aspy the mounds of earth produced by the orcish army's effort to undermine the enemy's wall.

They were growing larger. In the mean time, any orc slain by treacherous elven arrow-fire were sent back towards the enemy positions by means of crude catapults and other launching devices. This would hopefully aid in the spreading of disease as the enemy suffered silently within their walled prison. "First we flay, then we slay" the dull roar of this simple battle-chant could be heard by all in the area, a simply map of things to come. Brutal, violent death.

And then one night with a bad harvest moon, hanging insidiously low and yellow in the dark night sky, the orc's formed ranks. First a hail of filth, muck and dead bodies was pelted at the enemy positions by a number of crude catapults, and meanwhile, the smoke began to rise...

* * *

"'ow long until we get outta 'ere after we've lit tha fires?" Droglub asked, squinting up at his companion, the hunch-backed Olar, with his one good eye "Oh I recon a good runnin' oughta' do tha' trick just fine" he replied in his usual drawl, "and Drog-" he added, an evil gleam in his yellow eyes "Ye'd better not loose yer way down 'ere - it's quite a bleedin maze we've built, despite all them damn cave-inn's - unless ye want yer arse ta get roasted!" With those words, he stuck a sputtering torch into the nearest pile of kindeling, which in turn ignited slowly as the two of them hurried off.

A network of tunnelse and mazes had been dug near and partially under the streets and houses where it was believed the elven defenders had built their barricades. It had cost many diggers their lives as cave-inns and other dangers had been all to frequent, but at the promise of death to anyone who refused to digg, the job had been finished at long last.

Now those tunnels had been filled with balls, bundles, heaps and stacks of kindeling. Nice, dry kindeling, which would burn nicely enough, and in turn cause the precarious earthen ceiling of the tunnels to collapse - and the ground above with it - as the wooden beams which held them aloft were burnt to cinders.

* * *

On the other side of the believed enemy strongpoint, again in the camp of the besiegers, troops were quietly getting into position. Tunnels had been dug in secrecy here as well, but without the intention to collapse them once finished. The maze under a small area of the northern part of the city of Lorien ended quite gracefully just a few feet behind behind and under basement walls and pantry floors.

Once the signal was given, and the battle had begun at the barricades with the fiery destruction of the tunnel-maze there, mallets and hammers would pound these pitifull barriers inn, and battle-ready orcs with a taste for elven flesh would spill through to engage the defenders in the comfort of their very homes!

* * *

Atop his black charger, Khamùl knew well the turn of events, and gave the order to advance just as the ground on the defenders side would begin to collapse - the noise and racket this event would produce would surely be heard easily enough. On this night he was certain, many elven children would be made orphans.

Osgiliath
Thrakthun had returned to Osgiliath alone, prepared to talk to Imrahil and discuss certain issues about the war,and about the debt owed to him through his ancestor, before returning to Isengard.

Limping along, though not noticable to most mortals, the scrapes and cuts on his trunk had recovered enough to have bark growing over them.

As he walked through the rain towards Imrahil, who had started to walk towards him,he had seen the mortal collapse to the ground, his legs literally giving way under him.

With a quickened pace,he strode to the mortal and picked him up tenderly in a fist strong enough to crush a troll's skeleton, while striding towards the encampment of Imrahil's men, where they could attend to him.It was the least he could do for such a fighter, mortal as he was.Fangorn was right, these mortals were more resilient than they seemed, possessing an inner strength that they did not know they possessed.

With purposeful stride,he brought himself to the camp, where he told an overawed camp guard to fetch any healers.

Ithilien
Fangorn looked on into the depths of the forest, into the groves where no Ranger or animal dared enter,an oppressive atmosphere weighing down on any who entered here, where any of Shelobs children who had entered had been found just at its exit, mangled. When Ungoliant had first fled this way,her hunger consuming her from within, even she had dared not enter this place, for here was the very Maw of the Ents, where their greatest fury and strength was concentrated, the keepers of nature gifted by Yavanna herself with the power over flame, rock, water, animal and ice.A grove of them an even match for any Dragon or Balrog,a forest of them a hurricane that could be stopped only by the Valar itself, and one that had never awakened. This was the last grove, where the very few remaining Black Huorns remained,30 in number altogether, many of Entkind and its cousins long since left for the Undying Lands and its unbound pastures and wilds.

While even the Huorns themselves balked at entering it,and the trees around grew away from it,Fangorn entered it without hesitation. This place was where he had courted Fimbrethil, his love,so long ago in the Elder Days. The place where he had shepherded his first trees, when they first became Huorns, where Yavanna was said to have walked.Where the Black Huorns gathered, and where they would follow him to whatever end lay in the future.

A sudden and abrupt drop in temperature brought to his attention that the trees all around him had started to move in on him.Black and gnarled with age,the darkness and bitterness induced in them by Morgoth, the master of Sauron, had never left them till now,and of all they hated, they hated the traitors of Numenor, the last of whom were the Ringwraiths, and they hated the orcs, for they had brought ruin to nature everywhere.

Fangorn bellowed his call into the night, and a rustling could be heard,as slowly, shapes began to emerge from the darkness......

Lothlorien Forest
Bloodleaf looked at the swirling storm of trees around him.The Krazilek had reached its peak, and over the horizon, the flames of the burning city could be seen. From the ground, the furious shoveling and biting and gnawing of bararum upon the roots and animals they callously cast aside gnawed at the very sensibilities of the Ents.

With a mighty roar that shook some of the tunnels the orcs had dug,the Krazilek of the Ents fell into motion towards Lorien.A single note rose up above the roar....and in the city, the White Lady of the Golden Wood felt hope rise in her heart.

Among the orcs, some felt a sense of forboding and doom to come......

Imrahil awakened to the smell of the foul smelling salts. He was warm and dry, though his throat was sore. He tried to remember what had happened, and when he remembered Darahil's death he cried, and the grief wracked his body with sobs.
He knew that now he alone was the leader of the people of Dol Amroth. He organised for some of his men to be ready to depart up river by Swan Ship to help Lorien. He was around and about, when he saw a tree beside the river that had not been there when he had first encamped. He walked over to Thraktun, and began to talk to him. After talking more with his brother, he left on a fast horse for Cair Andros, where he picked up a boat and soon caught up with the main Gondorian force, close enough to Lothlorien to see the smoke from the burning trees. The trumpet sounded, and the men began to disembark, rank upon rank of silver mail-clad spearmen, archers and swordsmen, their faces grim under their tall helmets at the desecration of the Golden Wood. The black and silver banners of Gondor, resplendent with the White Tree, unfurled and swung in the breeze, over the blackened trees and broken but still fair bodies of the elves. Faramir immediately ordered the bodies to be collected for proper elven burial, which hopefully Haldir would oversee. Then, the ships continued to sail up the river, to catch the foul orcs by suprise in the flank, while the soldiers marched forward to a good spot, and set up a fortified camp. Faramir left Haldir to oversee it, while he sped forward with 500 rangers to scout out the enemy position.

Outskirts of Lorien

The mighty Enthost thundered at the very outskirts, out of range of the orc siege engines and catapults. In the meantime, the elves had come to break the siege of their brethren in Lorien.

Mortyr sent a message of sorts to Haldir and the elven lords in command of their warriors through the ravens that accompanied the Enthost,as did other creatures of the wild....

The Krazilek of the Ents is awaiting a time to be unleashed.Ensure your troops do not get in the way,for their own safety. When the time is ripe, cast up a signal for the Enthost and the defenders of Lorien to see...

Meanwhile,Mortyr saw an Elven archer climb a tree to look over the barren wastes towards their enemy. With a speed usually unknwown to Ents,Mortyr had a vision of the Enthost carrying hundreds if not thousands of archers into battle on the boughs of their trees, much like the Haradrim archers used the Mumakil as walking towers........

With a rising cry of fury the first ranks of orcish warriors poured into the embattled city of Lorien to engage the defenders in brutal hand to hand combat. Down in the cellars, of the houses on the north side of the city, the first attackers fell to elven arrows, grunting in pain as their comrades followed right behind them, charging on while the defenders readied another volley. "First we flay, then we slay".

Outside the city, cries went up from the look-outs and other straggelers as the ENTire treeline appeared to be moving towards them! Numerous detatchement's which ad previously prepeared to enter the city now instead formed ranks against this oncomming threat, made all the more deadly as the sun's first rays gleamed in the spears and shields of the advancing human and elven forces.

"Form ranks! I said form ranks you maggots!" roared the Jarval the war-leader, short, greyish hair on his back bristeling as he waved his powerful axe over his head "I want archers in front ready with fire and flame as soon as these guttersnipes are close enough! With great speed, the message spread among the trees.Invite the Elven archers to sit safely among their boughs and they would bring them forth into combat.Among the elves who heard it,many mounted the Ents with a grin on their face.An unorthodox strategy, and one that would most definitely surprise and shock the orcs.

With a mighty shout from Mortyr and the Ents, the Huorns cast their shadow forth among the orcs, blinding them and isolating pockets of them from among the horde. Then, the full fury of the raging Entish Krazilek was unleashed.

The ground shook and quaked and thousands upon thousands of trees surged forth to take their revenge, the Ents and Hurons among them bellowing and stomping forth into orcish lines. In the great din,the elven archers who had chosen to mount the trees or Ents went to work sniping the orcish commanders among the melee, their sharp eyes making them out from among the horde.

Suddenly,an elven detachment of bladesingers drew their swords as one,the firelight reflecting of the bitterly sharp blades, before diving into the melee, their superior agility and speed allowing them to make hit-and-run attacks upon the orcs in the confusion of the Krazilek.

Into the sky, numerous orcs were thrown up hundreds of paces, some higher than the towers of Lorien, only to fall into ruin, their bodies breaking on the ground or impaled upon the mallorn trees of Lothlorien.Fire broke out among the Enthost, which raged regardless, for many of the trees were berserk and nearly beyond control, the Ents letting them gut the orcs in whichever way they so wished.

The Gondorian host stood firm, with the spearmen in the front locking shields to keep out the orcish barrage, while advancing steadily, with a chant of, "For Gondor! For the White Tree!"

The bowmen bent back their longbows, far superior to the crude devices of the orcs, and let loose volley after volley of steel-tipped arrows into the mass of vile enemies.

Faramir marched in the front rank of the spearmen. He raised his Numenorean blade aloft, and the soldiers cheered, their morale high. Faramir was more grim however, for he had a particular enemy in mind: Khamul the Easterling.

OoC: Enemy? Oh yes, thats me...

BiC:

An arrow in the eye.

Heirek had a long, steel-tipped arrow embedded in his eyesocket. Joy. His world consisted of a thousand splinters of agony, burning inside him like liquid fire. The orcish forces outside the city advanced upon the ranks of the newly arrived enemy, a shower of razor-tipped javelins heralding their furious charge. With some effort, Heirek fixed his small, pigish eyes on the ranks of white shields before him, and spat a wad of saliva mixed with clotted blood on the ground. He made to rise from his kneeling position, but he couldn't find the strength. A long, drawnout moan escaped his dry, mud-cacked lips, and he keeled over in the churned-up mud and dirt on the ground.

Around him. The battle raged.

* * *

Like a host of filth-ridden plague rats, the north-side orcs poured forth from cellars, houses and doorways to engage the defenders. Krozak was the red flame. A crimson mist would come down over his eyes, and he'd know only glimpses of the fighting afterwards, flowing before him like splinters of broken glass. It was like that every time, when the din of battle rang high around him.

"'Ack it down!" Jora shouted, jagged scimitar waving in the air as he pointed at the pantry door. With a roar the orc grunt who'd breached the wall mere moments before pushed his way past him and brought his sledge to good use once again, nearly caving in the feeble wooden door leading into the rest of the house.

There was a slight sound from outside, and almost emediately afterwards, two arrows shivered neatly in his chest. With a cry, Jora pushed the stunned grunt aside as he led the his squad in a charge through the splintered remains of the pantry door and on into the subsequent kitchen. Krozak leered at the pale, white'ish faces of the elves, charging into battle at the heel of Scimitar-Jora - and as the red mist descended - he promised himself he'd take one of those heads with him as a souvenir.

* * *

"Look lively you shag-rats! Sheilds up!" Plegis looked around with panic gleaming in his yellow eyes. He didn't have a sheild! He'd found himself lucky enough to survive the first hail of arrows unscathed, but doubted that it would happen a second time. Bringing his boot up to meet the face of a nearby recruit - he grabbed his sheild and covered down under it not a moment too soon as arrows thudded into it, making his entire frame shiver. "Aright! Charge!" someone bellowed high over him, and so, with his heart in his throat, Plegis rose as he unsheathed his sword and followed the press of bodies to avoid being trampled as much as anything else.

* * *

"Wha' the bleedin' blazes do we do about them trees?!" All in all, the vollys of orcish firearrows launched against the lumbering menace of the ents seemed to have little to no effect. "Just keep on fireing!" the cry went up "Make'm feel tha taste of fire!" The sky burned as more volleys of firearrows flew in the enemys direction, hopefully having some effect this time...

"Pull Back!" Came a yell from the elves in the city. They marched backwards, arrows raining overhead in a disaplined line. Swords flashing in the fighting style that had killed Orcs since the battle of the last allince. Arrows Fell in front of them, wave upon wave.

Three Orcs leapt on a elf on the front rank,a third gutted by his flashing sword, he swung his sword even as the knife went into his belly, beheading one, then he fell and another elf stepped forward to take his place, killing the Orc who had slayed his kinsman.

They stopped as they reached base of GAldials tree and there, renforced by the women and children made there final stand, protected by orc arrows by a wood roof above there arrows fired straight over there heads into the Orc horde. They wouldn't take another backwards step.

"Pikes out, shields up!" roared Faramir over the chanting of the soldiers and the cries of the wounded. Only just in time, the pikemen in the front ranks pushed the butts of their pikes into the ground and levelled them out at the charging orcs, their shields held in the wall with the other hand. Several brave men fell to the onslaught of javelins, but most either fell short or were embedded in the shields. The longbowmen continued their deadly rain of death on the orcs, firing volley after volley, 4,000 shafts in each at the vile scum.

Faramir spotted Morwen in the press of soldiers, and shouted to her. "Morwen! Lead a company of rangers up on our flank. Fire at the enemy, and warn the ships to sail down the Anduin to help!" He then gestured to 100 rangers, who left off their firing and followed her.

A strangled cry of victory resounded from the invading orcs as the elven defenders pulled back along the streets into the center of the city, to stand back to back against Galadriels tree in a final, do-or-dare stand. With their shields raised up to provide at least some measure of protection from the deadly rain of arrows, yet another shower of deadly javelins - their tips coated in venom and much - came down upon the ragged defenders. Jora howled in ecstacy as he swung his scimitar through the air a few times, a drizzle of blood spattering the surroundings with each swipe. "Elven flesh fer grub tonight boyos!" he yelled, the men around him responding with a loud roar as they charged these last elven ranks with wild abonden.

* * *

The pikes rose quite suddenly from the ground as the orcs charged the Gondorian ranks, too suddenly for some as they with a nasty squelch were impaled upon them, battle-cries dying on their lips. Right behind them however, came others. Orcs in chain mails and breastplate pushing their way past mortaly wounded comrades, shields down and swords at the ready, engaged the Gondorean as well as Mithlond forces in short, brutal and nasty hand-to-hand combat...

* * *

"Watch tha flank you goat-fondeling mud-fer-brains!" the cry went up as a portion of the elven ranks detatched themselves, obviously attempting a flanking manouver. In response, a good portion of the Hoska clan which formed the ranks just about to enter battle, detatched themselves to meet the oncomming threat, rushing forward in an attempt to drive a spike of shields between the detatched rangers and the rest of the Gondorian ranks, returning the flanking favour.

"Very well!" Beregond shouted, and the ships got under way. As they sailed up on the orcs' flank, they noticed a group of orcs attempting to flank the Gondorians. "Fire!" he shouted, and the ballistas on the boats rang out, hundreds of huge spears flying towards the enemy flankers, most likely impaling half a dozen on each. The archers on the ships also fired into the enemy flank, thousands of shafts cutting deep into the vile orcs.

"Hold the line!" Faramir shouted as the orcs rushed upon them. The archers got off one more volley at point-blank range, before switching to sharp-shooting shots to avoid their allies in the melee.

The Gondorian pikemen held, the orcs spitted on their meters long pikes, before drawing them back into the defensive position, presenting a wall of glistening spearpoints at the enemy.

While the ballista bolts and arrows zoomed towards the flanking orcs on one side, the swordsmen in reserve fell on them from the other, their blades flashing up and down, cleaving into the foul enemy.

The last 300 professinal soildiers in Lorien stood in the passgae/staircase that led up the tree. Sheilds locking, Pikes facing down the staircase. The Orc's engaged them, many impaling themselves upon the pikes util the weapons where made useless and the elves swung into hand to hand combat.

They stood and died, not giving the Orcs the satisfaction oif seeing the line take a step back, a new man filling the ground before him. they forght with cold rage of men who had nothing to lose and all to gain, men who knew that every second that they lived and every orc they hewed gave there loved ones another second of life.

Behind them the masses of Elven civillians stood, in galdirials chamber, hands holding swords and pikes, dressed in armour several sizes to big for them. In front of them, in doorway, a door that was wide enough only to admit one man though stood galdirial in her Mithrial armour.

Lorien

With a furious roar, the Enthost surged forth into the city.Over ruined buildings and broken trees, the burning Enthost raged,a sea of flame and forest that engulfed entire regiments of orcs and swallowed them whole, screams the only thing bursting forth from the regiments as they fought desperately,as they fought berserk trees which simply flung themselves into the fray, great branches whipping in the air and flailing in every direction, gouging eyes, stomping bodies and crushing bones in every direction.

The trees that were on fire simply threw themselves into the fray, charging into the orcs ranks and immolating themselves and the orcs in a funeral pyre of blackened bark and burnt flesh.

Mortyr the Ent was caked in a layer of dirt, black blood and looked like a porcupine, arrows protruding from every visible area of his body. With a tug,he pulled out several dozen from his face and threw them with the strength Ents were famous for, straight into the bararum horde. The Krazilek of the Ents was like a tsunami breaking upon the orcs and simply eroding it away, squad by squad and regiment by regiment.

Grasping an orc in one hand,he squeezed until the bararums body collapsed and imploded upon itself, showering him in a fountain of gore and blood.

Gondorian Host
The Gondorians stood against the black and green tide or orcdom as it swept towards them,an island of defiance in a sea of seething spears and bitter scimitar blades. It was about to become a hammer.

With a great noise and rumbling to the rear, the orcs host found itself assailed by boulders from the rear as the Enthost plunged into it,the Ents directing the trees to throw themselves upon the orc host with abandon.

In most cases, the orcs found themselved to be in superior numbers when facing their numbers. This battle was a rule to the exception. While clearly superior in having gained the upper hand and holding more ground, they were now assailed on multiple fronts by numerous smaller forces, and at least one large force that outmatched them in strength and ferocity, the Enthost.Fortunately for the orcs, none of the commanders facing the orcs had realised the opportunity this presented, for the Enthost was a suitable anvil to use against the orc hordes. However, time was running out,and the Gondorians were soon going to realise this simple fact.

Ithilien

Fangorn stared at the black shapes surrounding him and began to speak...

Long have you been separated from the rest of the Ent kindred,my brethren, and long have we neglected each other, but of late, the time has come to take our vengeance upon the servant of the Dark One,Morgoth, who despoiled our forests and lands long ago.Under the mantle,as the Keeper of this Grove and as Chieftain of All Enthosts and Groves,I call you to battle. As I planted and nurtured you in my youth, now will I do so again on the battlefield where you will partake of bararum flesh and blood, the filthy desecrators of nature.

With a purposeful stride,Fangorn strode deeper into the groves, the shadows growing deeper, until he came to the site of the Ungoliants Demise, where long had the mighty Ungoliant died, her hunger consuming her very essence until naught but a few fragments of bone remained, her other parts and essence only Illuvatar knew where. In these bone fragments was contained a portion of the original power of Morgoth, gifted to Ungoliant by him to aid in her quest, and the power of the lost Valinorian jewels, forged by the hands of the Noldor. While their power was nothing compared to the Elven Master Rings, they were potent nonetheless in the destructive power, and in this grove had been placed,to seal it away from all mortal and elven reach. Now,the time had come for it to be taken away to the Undying Lands, lest Sauron learn of its potency, and the Black Huorns who had guarded it for eons would follow it,through battle and despair, and to the Great Sea.

Faramir's mind was working furiously, even as he hew the orcs in the center of the line of his troops, and shafts of arrows rained down on the orcs nearby. Suddenly, he knew what he must do. Taking advantage of a small respite in the fighting near him as the orcs were cut down, he reachd under his armour, and drew out- The Horn of Gondor. The mighty horn that, whenever blown by a warrior of the line of the stewards, help would come.

He raised the great silver horn to his lips, encrusted with jewels and miniscule carvings, and blew, one loud, sharp blast.

Upon hearing the horn, everything became eerily silent. The normal cries of the battlefield were no more, as all listened in wonder.

Then, the horn had its effect. The Gondorians cheered, shouting, "FOR GONDOR! FOR THE WHITE TREE!" At the top of their voices. Then, as one, they surged forward into the orcish masses, no doubt fearful of the sound of the horn. The entire Gondorian line charged, pikes pointing directly at the enemy, swords cleaving, arrows flying.

But that was not all. Beregond, in the ships from Cair Andros, and his men also heard the horn, and were infested with the same vigour as the other Gondorians. Leaving a skeletal crew to man the ballistas, his 2,500 men charged out from the ships, raising their weapons and crashing into the orcs' flank.

But still, that was not all. Beregond ordered his Lieutenant, Ectheliar, to lead the charge, while he ran down to the lower decks of the ships, where the three hundred cavalrymen waited, saddled up and ready for battle. The ramp was lowered, and the riders charged out into the shallow Anduin, their horses bringing up gouts of spray as the men lowered their lances, and smashed into the orcish flank also, compacting the left flank of orcs between Faramir's men, the reinforcements under Ectheliar, and the cavalry under Beregond. Instead of one hammer, there were three.

The four-hundred Swan Knights could see that they were not needed on the field of battle outside of the elven city. Imrahil could see orcs being flung into the air by the ferocityof the ents, and some of the trees in Lothlorien were stirring and smashing out at the orcs as they passed them. The forces of Gondor, and a line of elves were slowly forcing the orcs into the forest, yet Imrahil could see a good 10,000(is that ok) of the orcs fleeing where there were no good peoples forcing them to fight. Most of those were in good order, and Imrahil's small amount of elite men would not make that much of a difference.
However from the city he could here fighting, and the screams of dying, high-pitched screams of women and children. He could also see the great tree in the middle of the city, and could see that the orcs were like a foul darkened snake pushing inexorably upwards. They were about two-thirds of the way up the winding path. As he watched, he saw an elf simply tossed from the high stairs, to fall to the ground fifty metres below. Even from the river, the scream and subsequent crunch were audible.
His eyes hardened to smouldering coal, and when he turned back and ordered the sailors to make suicidically for the orcs they could all see crowded around the banks of the river as it ran through the city, none argued. He ordered his knights to make ready, and 100, the only ones to be on horseback, to feed their horses again. 420 men, no not men, Swan Knights, and the flower of Dol Amroth they were, would make an epic charge into an enemy whose numbers seemed beyond counting. The sailors, as they mounted the ballistae on board the ships and began firing into the press of bodies, pitied the orcs. They had raised the ire of their Prince, and his men would fight like demons for him, even giving their lives for him.

IC:Mortyr swung a balled first repetitively into the swarm tumbling over him.To his right,a line of trees was swiftly overshelmed,as parts of the orcish armies decided to take their tormentors into death with them, and take them they would.

Groans of pain sounded out from many trees, spent and tired from the countles waves of orcs that assailed them, and then a piercing scream sounded as an Ent was pulled under the orcish tide and held down, before rising and roughly disposing of its attackers before it was again pulled down. The Enthost was bogged down in a battle of attrition, and several thousand trees had already been lost, their blackened trunks littering the battleground while around, the soil was soaked thickly with the ichor of bararum.Even a few Ents and several Treants.Of the Huorns with their control of shadow, none had fallen yet,but were being spread thin, their flanking moves constantly disrupted by wedges of berserk bararum driving into him.

In reflection,a frontal assault may not have been the best maneuver.Mortyr knew that the Enthost would win.Of this he was confident. At what cost though,it could already be seen that his losses would be far in excess of what was necessary.
