48 minutes ago The Queendom of Ovaire To Yavin 2: Please discontinue your weapons research and stop firing your underdevloped and untested weather beam. Yavin 2,
We will not tolerate such reckless behavior of large-scale weapons testing in our region. You may develop weapons at your own risk, but to the extent that the region becomes harmed as a result of testing, that is where the line is drawn. Consider this your warning. Any further behavior of this nature will result in consequences (sanctions, etc).
All others,
If anyone else is considering behavior such as that undertaken by Yavin 2 today, consider yourselves warned as well. Before an undertaking like that is undertaken, you must at least check with The Lords of the Region and think through the consequences of your action(s).

Good Luck, Planet Moose in your battle with the hurricane. You should be seeing the blunt of the storm shortly.
Karess - You must bump up your departure time, as the hurricane will surely overtake your launch to Mars. Read the warning issued by the weather service. We are all in danger 2:00pm-9:00am UST.
*Yavin 2 is constructing a new and improved "weapons testing facility" allowing weapons testing to be safer and more accurate. As for those that were affected by my "moving" of the storm, I’m very sorry for your potential/imminent casualties.

The preliminary reports from the Unitari Emergency Management Service (UEMS) show that The Federation of Planet Moose was directly hit when hurricane Abbigaile went landfall. The storm has "mostly" moved on, but outter nations will still be receiving wind and high rains for a few hours.
The Federation of Planet Moose has been decimated by the storm. Early casualty estimates put the number of dead or missing at over half of the countries population. As The Federation of Planet Moose took no precautions and failed to warn its citizens of the impending danger, this is a great tragedy.
The Rogue Nation of Comperte and The Protectorate of The Future of Humanity also failed to issue any warnings or otherwise take action. Luckily, Yavin 2 deflected the storm away from these nations. However, the rain and high winds have taken a toll on both countries. Agriculture has been decimated and damage has been estimated in the millions for both countries.
In a seperate event, the Queendom of Karess is missing one of its ships that was heading to their International Space Station on Mars. The Queendom of Karess did not heed warnings and launched when the storm was at its strongest. One shuttle managed to make it out of the storm and has now docked on Mars, however, the second shuttle is still missing (believed to be crashed in the Flarf Ocean as pieces of metal have been reported washing up on the outter islands).
The UEMS urges capable nations to help their neighbors if at all possible. Recovery from this violent natural disaster will take a region-wide effort.

The Armed Republic of Haukenschlak has received reports from its citizens that a huge section of Karess' space shuttle has crashed on our island. We are in route to search for survivors.
:D (Thinks to himself: Might be a good time to engage in a little industrial espionage) :D
Haukenschlak will also offer access to our blood bank for any nations running short on blood donations to help the wounded from the storm.
Haukenschlak also pledges $5 billion Gorions toward Abbigaile relief.
The Lords of the Realm have appointed an esteemed representative from Ovaire to head up the relief effort and coordinate donations from all member nations and see to it that they reach the needy as soon as humanly possible.

[SIZE=3]My people should do the following in case the hurricane does change paths and comes our way
1.) stay inside and load up with food for about a week(if the hurricane does come than if we need more food supply then i'll get people out there to give more supply)
2. let all you windows OPEN and stay away from them. (if the hurricane does come then it will not destroy your house so bad since the wind would just zoom through your windows.
3.) Keep a radio close by so you can hear the lastest new from joey and heather from wild 97.9
Because of my recent actions of saving the behinds of The Rogue Nation of Comperte and The Protectorate of The Future of Humanity. I would like to ask them kindly to pledge any some of money to help my weapon creating cause. If you do not, i might be a little more hesitant to save you when you are sleeping under a hurricane.

1. We would need a whole host of surrogate families to raise this cloned populace as we do not clone adults.
2. Cloning is an issue of national sovereignty, and as such, each nation must be allowed to decide on the issue. Regional usage should only be undertaken there is an agreement between nations.
3. We do not even know the final tally of dead vs. missing, thus cloning someone who might only be missing would be an ethical issue all in itself.
4. Planet Moose is now a desolate island (which is not a problem, seeing as how it is just an extra nation anyway and if Chris leaves it alone as he said he would, it will die of in 30 days).

Citizens of GhettoGoddess are to report back to their respective cities and immeadiately begin reconstruction on homes and offices. Furnishing and Carpentry companies are to handle the rebuilding of homes and offices. Real Estate and Insurance companioes are to handle all of the necessary paper work. Blood banks will be open 24 hours a day and will be taking all blood and plasma donations from healthy citizens. There will be free clinics for those who are physically or emotionally tramatized. Soup kitchens along with the willing volunteers, wil be serving food to those in need. As A direct order of my command as the empress all of the above stated along with the fact that any extra supplies will be donated to our sister countries especially Yavin2 who killed 1/8 of his citizens while saving two other countries. I ask all of you to open your hearts homes and wallets to help reconstruct our land You all have my full financial support .

Casualty estimates are still coming in, but it appears that Planet Moose has lost all but 2 million of its citizens. With the nation in shambles, and no clear governmental leader, it appears that the remaining 2 million citizens will be dispersing throughout our land and Planet Moose will be left as a deserted island.
**People need to start role playing their nations...the only way to do that is to post here in our forum**

Here we go again. The UN, in an attempt at being all "nice" and stuff, is taking a stroll over the sovereign rights of our individual nations. It almost seems that they know they are doing some funny business by AFFIRMING ALSO a nation's right to capital punishement. But what this Resolution says is that while you can have capital punishment, we are not going to recognize it if we do not want to and are thus not going to extradite people to those nations. The UN is trying to have it both ways. What is this selective enforcement of its own laws? This is bull. As long as capital punishment is legal and as long as a person is to be extradited home, then the UN should uphold its own rules. I am going to go on record as AGAINST this Resolution. This is only my opinion and I look forward to other UNitari's opinions and comments on this Resolution.
As always, our regional voter (me at this time) is open to suggestions on how we should vote on this Resolution to most accurately reflect opinion of the populace. All comments are welcome from all nations, both UN Members as well as those who are not. *As always, the UN Delegate vote will be based on popular opinion.*
Please make your voice heard on the current issue but, by all means, please vote on the UN Page! All UN Member nations please vote. Please make your opinions known by Thursday midnight as voting ends some time on Friday the 20th. Current voting in The World is running - Votes FOR: 2467. Votes AGAINST: 908.

PS: Don't forget to vote!
Right to Refuse Extradition
UN member nations shall have the AFFIRMED RIGHT to refuse, if they so desire, extradition (deportation) of international fugitives to any UN member nation IF the extraditing nation may reasonably believe that the fugitive may face capital punishment if extradited
I vote for the resolution because:
1. No one wants to have fugitives moved into their land.
2. This bill will also reduce conflict between member nations by assuming nations will follow and understand it.
3. Capital punishment can still happen. (which i like)
4. It will reduce the spreading of prizon gangs by keeping the leaders on death row in one nation. Not allowing them to set up new gangs. Such as the Westa Unitarisims, one of the worst prison gangs in our region.
5. also it reduces diplomic tension by not allowing deporation to happen it all. (seeing as how it's a diplomaticly unstable issue)
in my opinion, vote for the current resolution.
6. Capital punishment is a choice for the nation that is in control of the prisoner, it is their right as a nation to dicide how to deal with them.
7. Again this is a touchy issue, and it would be better if everyone just did their own thing when it comes down to capital punishment.

1. No one wants fugitives moved into their land? What??? This makes no sense! The fugitives are in your land, and the resolution gives you the ability to keep them there instead of extradite them back to their host nation where they ARE WANTED because we WANT to kill them!
2. Reduce conflict? Ummm, NO! If you refuse to extradite someone I want, our relations have just gone WAAAAY down hill! Conflict becomes more likely!
3. This resolution has no impact on the existence of capital punishment.
4. A. No impact to increased prison gangs. B. On death row, there is no interaction with other inmates, so no chance to spread gang ideas.
5. I disagree, it will increase tensions. X/A #1 & 2 above

7. Again this is a touchy issue, and it would be better if everyone just did their own thing when it comes down to capital punishment.
6. Why? What gives you the right to do anything to him/her when he/she is a fugitive from justice, fleeing from my country? There has been no crime committed against you/in yoru nation, thus you have no legal right to do anything with them if you are not going to extradite them back. And that is why you should send the prisoner back to his/her host country so the nation can decide how to deal with them.
7. Just because an issue is touchy, we should not be scared to debate it or come to a concensus on it! There are a lot of touchy issues (i.e., nuclear weapons development). Should we leave those issues alone? NO!

Interesting subject, the best way of which is to look at it's implications. To have the right to refuse extradition means that regardless of the morality of the punishment or the size of the crimes, it is the nation that is currently pocessing the person has the choice of their fate. To have refusal rights protected by the UN means that regardless of who's right, one side has the power. But without the right that means that the fate of the person is up to a debate between the existing nations. So, even if the pocessing country loves the guy, if the crimes done in the existing country are harmful enough, reasoning will show that he is guilty.
While some countries might not like executions, typically the crime relates to death. The person might go unpunished if one country has so much power over the laws of the other.

Yavin 2 is now using 4 thousand of its population and training them to research and develop a space program for the nation.
Yavin 2 needs your help to protect the regions safety by building space weapons, and expanding into the above.
Needed resources that you can donate to the cause are:
*4,000,000 credits, (about 2.5 million euros or 5 million units)
*Research facilities
*Laboratory personnel
*Lab and research equipment
*Nuclear reactor core (don’t ask, just give)
*.25 tons of uranium
*.50 tons of SRB
This will be enough to put a whole colony in space. We can call the program, Project Space-Metal. Space-Metal will need more supplies, but most can be mined from out under my many rain forests (who cares about animals anyway?).

I think a lot of you are misconstruing the resolution and its implications (with exceptions such as Wilson and Ankur and maybe others if I missed you.) So allow me to clarify.
Extradition 101: When someone commits a crime they are put on trial. If a citizen of nation X is visiting nation Y and kills someone, nation Y is asked to extradite the citizen back to nation X for trial (most nations don't like their citizens standing trial in another nation for nationalistic, humanitarian, and justice reasons...I can elaborate if you so desire.) HOWEVER, if the citizen killed someone important, say a politician in nation Y, nation Y would want to refuse to extradite the citizen back to his home nation so they can make an example of him and penalize him in their own nation.
By voting for this resolution you are saying that nation Y can refuse to extradite criminals if nation X has capital punishment. I am going to vote against this resolution and I highly encourage others to do the same. My reasoning is simple: I believe citizens sacrifice rights and money (think taxes) to their government for protection and the assurance of rights. On that note alone I do not think a third party has any right to a citizen of another nation even when a crime has been committed because they will still be tried when returning home. Obviously there are exceptions to this rule; however, I do not believe this piece of shit legislation ought to be one of them

First off this post belongs in the poll forum, you can find the link at the bottom of the regional forum.
second, no, everyone will switch to a regional currency, to allow for easier understanding of game play. In matt's terms, Take nation x, and nation y, if nation x wanted to send money to y, and they had different currency, how would we know how much of x's currency equals that of y's, or vice versa.
It's just to make things less complicated, and more realistic.

No this is not true. Currently many nations have varying forms of currency that are locating in the same region (i.e. U.S., Canada, Mexico.) I don't understand why it would reduce "complications" in the first place. It is not that hard to go to a bank and exchange money; however, the benefits of having differing currencies will allow for more economic competition among member nations. Move this to the other forum if you like, but I felt like directly responding to you here...also I think we should maybe start up our own forum seperate from the nation states for simplicity's sake. That way we would not have to worry about a lot of different links for each topic and we could navigate an entire forum that had everything we needed there.

I'm not even sure if I get this resolution, but I want the one that says that if you commit a crime in a country that's not your own, you have to get sent back to your home country. I don't know if that makes me for or against, but whichever way it is, I want to go that way.
