Generalissimo J.L. to implement reforms

RBNNN, Live Broadcast
"Good evening, everyone, this is Walter Kraunkheit of RBNNN, bringing you the latest in government-approved news. Today, the Generalissimo shocked the nation with his newest announcement: 'Today, I will implement an historic series of reforms which will bring our nation to a new height of greatness.' Among his reforms were: the legalization of labor unions, permitting workers to go on strike, legalizing most political parties- except for the RB Communist Party and the RB Nazi Party- and allowing states and local governments to hold elections and, for the most part, govern themselves as they see fit. Moreover, media censorship will be relaxed considerably, though not completely. Pro-communist broadcasts and publications will be banned, although dissent and criticism of the government will be permitted, so long as the writer or reporter does not advocate the violent overthrow of the government. Torture and the death penalty will only be used if the felon is convicted of murder or overt treason. Congress will be allowed to convene again, and will be allowed to carry out most of its duties, with only a few minor restrictions. The 'pass laws,' which require all persons traveling throughout Roach-Busters to carry passes bearing their identity, political views, etc., will be declared null and void. Schools will be de-politicized. Demonstrations will be permitted, provided they do not turn violent. And in the most surprising of the reforms, the Generalissimo plans to amend the constitution so that he cannot declare martial law and/or grant himself emergency powers, unless at least 2/3 of the House and Senate vote in favor of allowing him to do so, and even then, the state of emergency or martial law cannot last more than 30 days. The public's response to these reforms is one of overwhelming approval. Polls indicate that over 87% of the population approves of these reforms. That is all for now. Updates will be provided when more news is available. Thank you, and good night."

For some odd reason, after this was announced the ferocity of the Nazi mob has been relaxed, allowing the Socialist Front to strike a powerful blow to their foes.

I hope Shoobans will not be given rights they do not deserve. This move is utterly shocking to me, how can we give so called "rights" to the population which is ignorant? Its rather absurd, the people know nothing, least of all unions.

Official Imperial Statement
After recovering from our initial shock, we of the Imperial government have decided that these 'reforms' are to be seen as a threat to the stability of the region as a whole, and in the interest of protecting Generia, the Bornerifreudic Empire, and the CAD, we will ask that all RB soldiers stationed in Generia be removed immediately. To prevent any unwanted violence against RB citizens on the part of Generian citizens or vice-versa, we will also ask that within one week, all RB tourists return home.
These requests may be reversed or stiffened as the situation dictates, and as the Imperial diplomatic offices and the Emperor himself continue to analyze these shocking moves.

OOC: OH...um...GigaWHAT!
I am personally glad to see the reforms that RB has implemented. I am deeply impressed and hope that there are more to come. I am rather disapointed that there was no Shooban liberation law, but I will let that pass for now. Good work and keep up the good work.

OOC: Ok RB. I wanna go to war with you. SOmething to spice up the forum or something. Any ideas...preferably Shooban related...?

OOC: Ok you know what I can do a better post than that
President Nellis sat up right in his chair when he recieved the report concerning the RB reforms. He began to send a e-mail...
Dear J.L.,
Wow! I will not lie, but I was completly blown away from what I read today. That is of course assuming that you keep up to everything that you have claimed today. I hope that this is a start of a new direction for RB and maybe the rekindling of our friendship.
What I am still concerned about is Shooban liberation. I would like it if you and I could sit down and have private talks about this in the near future. I am willing to find a comprise. A deal if you will to solve this problem. This is very important to me personally.
Keep up with the reforms man. I am impressed, but make you sure you keep your word.

We are glad you are taking the slow road to bring another golden age to your nation, but I wonder if you destroyed the shoobans before or after you became generalissimo? If you kill them when you were still president we will treat you with respect.
I too just reinforced democracy in my nation...to an extent, that is.
I am still the emperor. we have always had an emperor, yet I think I might resign and take the government with me..but 1 thing, you forgot to depose the death penalty, well not like i have any control but i do believe that it should have been completely taken away. Punishment must stand all the same, but death? well.. leave that to the RB Zoit party, if it exists, as i see it has some power currently. Overall I greatly approve of your Reform!!
La ce numesi Pirokajuon
The Pirokajuon humbling asks the Generalissimo if he is sure that he wishes to give the liberties to the people. He warns the Generalissimo, as a friend and in all humility, that unnecessary freedoms have caused much straife and civil warfare between the Emmitians, especially when the central government has been undermined as such. The Emperor himself has released such a statement.
"Piroka: Simu rerovikeon cusiteos cume comecegol nice cu rervikonte nicuga. Ko megetscul tegerem, temi cu rervikolte nusemu cu feteraelte."
[Friend: Our nation warns you about granting freedoms to your citizens. It is a dangerous proposition, especially to people unused to such conditions. ]
Should your citizens turn on you due to this, the Empire is prepared to uphold your reign with a contingent of troops.

To Generalissimo JL,
From Professor Michael Walter
It has been sometime dear friend, how is the family and all? I have been well, with the exception of a few criminal charges laid against me in several nations. I don't see what all the fuss was about, the guns I was selling could only kill if the trigger was pulled.
<Several pages of pointless nonsense>
But to the point, I have heard that you are allowing non-conservative ideals to seep into your nation. This leads me to one of two conclusions: a) you are either completely mad or b) you forgot to remove that line in your consitution that allows you to change the constitution at whim.
Since you are not wearing floral shirts and pink trousers, I will assume the answer was b, and this is just another plot to smoke out the traitors.
<Several more pages of blather>

Official Imperial Response:
Though we cannot honestly say we expected these reforms, or anything of the like, we are very pleased that J.L. has taken his nation on a path of moderation. You, sir, have done an admirable thing by granting the people of your nation the freedom to be able to take advantage of the vast opportunities that they have. You have found a workable medium between democracy and authoritarianism. Malkyer offers its congratulations to the proud nation of Roach-Busters on this day.
OOC: I was tempted not to respond, lest this be another trick to lure out traitors, but...I'll run with it.
Generalissimo J.L.
I would like to personally congratulate you on your unexpected yet not unwelcome governmental reforms. While I believe that they could have gone a little further, it is good to see that you are allowing more freedom in your nation. If acceptable, we would like to make an embassy exchange with your nation. If you agree to this, we could sort out the details at a later date.

My friends, please don't be concerned, this is all a facade. Previously, when my nation had 'pass' laws, many liberals pretended to be moderate or conservative to evade the secret police. But now, with dissent 'legalized,' they will air their opinions openly, and I can more easily determine who is really my enemy, and who is not. This way, I can wipe out the scum much more easily, while ensuring that no non-scum (i.e., right-wingers) get killed by mistake. Once all leftists are wiped out, I will become more repressive, oppressive, suppressive, and tyrannical than ever before. Brilliant, no?
