Goblinball Season One!
Blood Moon Goblins
11-05-2005, 15:41
(OOC: FT and MT welcome, just remember your going to be using the same equipment as the other team.)
The Official Goblinball season has begun today!
For the first time EVER the King has opened the entire season to non-Goblin players in an attempt to improve international relations.
Goblinball is an interesting sport, your average football team would be slaughtered instantly, soccer (OOC: OMGAMERICENTRiSM!) players would go home minus their feet, and most other sports players simply wouldnt win.
There are a few simple facts that contribute to this effect:
1. The ball in question is filled with unstable high explosives
2. There are no rules other than "Get the ball into the enemy goal"
3. There are a few 'guidelines', such as not using weapons in the arena, but these are occasionaly ignored for the benifit of the crowd.
Its almost a metaphore for everyday Goblin life.
The sport has been divided into two leagues, the Middleweight and the Heavyweight, Heavyweight will consist of any species with magical powers, uber-strength or who are simply very, very big.
Middleweight is everything else.
For more information on Goblinball and how its played, see:

(OOC:
Victory will be determined by RP, unless we get lots of people, in which case Ill use a random number generator to determine victory, then the last few teams can RP for the championship.
Only two teams will RP at any point, obviously, because attempting to RP six games in one topic would get confusing.
Enjoy :))

Han's Cossacks
Middleweight Goblinball Team
From the Czech Fiefdom
The premier, and only, goblinball team in the fiefdom, Han's Cossacks are known for their drunken behavior, lecherous manners, and their innate talent for the game. Often going in a half-intoxicated stupor, they have a fierce fighting spirit that is well inspried by their captain and coach Hans, a very outspoken Capcuca, or Troll. Its is an interacial team as well, making use of Capcucas, Hiisi (hobgoblins, or better known as bone goblins), and ogres.
Roster
Coach Hans; Troll (also occasionally takes place of thrower)
Hans is a rowdy, drunk, and opinionated troll whom once worked as a brigand leader before the compact, and then his "band" decided to put their boad energy unto something productive, like goblinball.
Blocker Bob; Ogre
Bob is a nice guy.. er... ogre. He wants to best for people, and always tries to lend a helpful hand. But the little squishies just don't seem to like his hand that much. It gets a little messy.
Blocker Ug; Ogre
Ug doesn't speak much. Ug doesn't think much. Ug is simple. Ug likes simple things. Ug doesn't like the whip. Ug doesn't like that little troll. Ug doesn't like those little things. Ug likes to smash little things.
Thrower Lazlo; Troll
Lazlo never liked other trolls. He hated having the most prevalent Troll name. Such a small hated of this name led Lazlo to his life of crime, where he prefers to be called "The Doubly Evil One." Few people entertain that, and thus, Lazlo has a bit of a temper.
Thrower Jeergan; Troll
Jeergan was one of Lazlo's partners, but they had a, falling out. Now they are constantly at each other's necks, and trying to outdo one another, except when Hans shows them up and snaps them into shape. Like Lazlo, he has given himself a pseudonym, the spiteful "Fourfold Horror."
Scrappers Rip, Mend, and Tear; Bone Goblins
Psychopathic. Cannibal. Triplets. Need any more explanation?
Scrapper Wexley; Bone Goblin
Unlike many of the rather insane Hisii race, Wexley was civilized, and rather calculating, and getting a rare education through working with the fief bureacracy after the compact. Unfortunately, he was thrown away from his endeavors in engineering when he tried to create what he called a "Meat Wagon," a monstrous thing made from the bodies of the fallen. He was declared insane. So how did he get here? Hell if anyone knows that.
Runner Bel; Troll
Bell is the only female member of the team. That doesn't mean she is pretty. In fact, she is hideous, and cruder than even some of hte male members. Trolls, in outward perspective, seem to be a patriarchal, militaristic society. But its well known, nowadays, Troll females are larger, stronger, and more vicious than their male counterparts. When the men are off to war, female Trolls take matters into their own hands.
Runner Capek; Troll
Capek was constantly Hans's shadow, constantly following in his footsteps. He soon became his lieutenant, but know, he seems to have changed, and even Hans is on to him. He is watched carefully, though he himself thinks himself a Machiavellian schemer, everyone knows he was to take the band of brigands for himself. He has no clue everyone knows it.
Runner Auskar; Bone Goblin
Auskar ran faster than any of the other Goblins, and well he shoudl. He was born not with the brownish-greenish skin, but with a blueish-black fur. Seen as a complete abomination, he ran for life and limb from the settlements as every Hiisi that looked upon him tried to rend him from limb to limb. Finally, he found refuge in Hans's Cossacks, though the other Goblins constantly try to kill him, to no avail, thanks to the help of the Troll caretakers.
Runner Kobian; Bone Goblin
Kobian was one of the master hunstmen and bounty hunters from the Hiisi confederation. While out to kill Hans for a very large bounty, he found that there was no reason, when Hans gave him a better contract and price to kill his would be employers. Now Kobian sticks with the Cossacks, trying to isolate his new target. Auskar.

OOC: question
Is there a thread where the actual game will be played? i know there is a thread with an example in it. is that where we will play? cuz id really like to know.
Blood Moon Goblins
14-05-2005, 00:09
OOC:
Im thinking that there will be a thread for each league, with the another thread for the championship.
Adding Bone Mothers team, I guess you'd be a heavyweight, judging by the number of trolls :P
Of course, since the Heavyweight team seems to be shaping up as the "Uber-magical fighting force of death" you may want in the Middleweight teams...
North Mack
14-05-2005, 00:11
so, is there a trial thingy to get in like the olympics? or do you just send a team. cuz i sent a team
Blood Moon Goblins
14-05-2005, 00:15
OOC:
Ther'll be an RP unless we get more than three matches per leauge.
After that every match up until the championship will be determined at random by me and my trusty graphing calculators random number generator :)
North Mack
14-05-2005, 00:19
i wouldnt trust that. i used my calc random num generator once. TI-83+ silver. i did random number from 1-10.
randInt(1,10) for a nerd who understands that,
i got 14 ones in a row.
Blood Moon Goblins
14-05-2005, 00:23
OOC:
Mine works pretty well for the random numbers, since it generates a twelve digit decimal number.
North Mack
14-05-2005, 00:30
well, i guess that'll work.
Camel Eaters
14-05-2005, 02:38
The Camlann Brigade has produced a number of small skirmish farm teams. Not to mention the quick leagues forming all over the nation. With newer and newer innovations thrown in. So Camel Eaters has literally become a melting pot of all sorts of magic and technology thrown in great heaps onto this newly beloved sport.
The current major team is.
The Murder:
Sporting a rather odd mixing of bird like tactics and lots of extra explosives The Murder is now the favorite for those extra blood thirsty crowds.
Coach: Jackie Skars the foremost female on the team she has a large crown of crow feathers tied into her hair.
Blockers: The McKeely Brothers. Larkin McKeely is a rather offensive blocker. Jattering the bones of anyone who comes into contact with him. He collects teeth from the 'battlefield'. Hogan McKeely is much more subtle. He has a nicely sharpened shield that many people don't realize is rather effective for gutting. He also has imbued it with excessive amounts of fiery magic..
Throwers: Al-Shekel is a toxin* junkie. So he can pitch the ball rather far rather fast. Jerri of the Wind is a rather strange young man. The incarna of rage he uses his brief graspe of magic to hurl a ball far. Even if he is only four feet.
Scrappers: All Sawney Beane* rejects.
Runners: Maggie Connor fast and long legged she seems to be like a rock when running. Missy Reginalds is a former Bard* she isn't above using her magic to snap someone in front of her in half. Dros is a man who runs on all fours. He usually carries the ball in his mouth. Erl is a former Extreme Rugby player. He likes to run and really feckin' fast.
OOC: Bards are my main magician/Jedi/Sith/Bard thing. They use magic through the vibrations and sounds of the universe.
Toxin is rather strange. It is released into the body and causes the internal temperature to rise. This breaks down the toxin enough that it is no longer harmful. This causes the adrenaline that is rushed into the bloodstream to clean out the original toxin to be amplified many times fold. Excessive super strength and speed follow.
Sawney Beanes are a Scottish cannibal tribe.

i have a some questions?
1)how long does each match last
2)if one player is killed (cuz the ball explodes or such) is a replacement brought in
3)if there are no subs, do you win if the other team is entireley dead?
Blood Moon Goblins
14-05-2005, 16:57
1. Until five points are scored by either side (Or another pre-agreed upon amount)
2. Each team is twelve players + reserves, obviously. The game would get fairly boring if you were left with two players on the field :P
3. No, if the other team is entirly dead the match is a draw 'with honours', meaning that the 'winning' team still gets a pay bonus from the state.
North Mack
15-05-2005, 14:36
ok. thanks for the answers.
Blood Moon Goblins
15-05-2005, 15:36
Alrighty, the games begin today!
The matches will go like this, because we dont have enough teams for a 'real' bracket':
{Blood Moon Smashers (Blood Moon Goblins)
{Da Hopskotch an' Goblin Sitay Ladz (Newbish Delights)
[Cultist Undivided (Military Might)
[Emperors Pride (North Mack)
((Winner from { vr. [ match)
(The Camlann Brigade (Camel Eaters)
Heavyweight will proceede similarly, with only the one bracket.
ONLY one game at a time, please.
Camel Eaters
15-05-2005, 15:39
So the winner faces my team? Okay. Though I would've considered them more a heavyweight. Meh nevermindit. Y'all're going down.
Blood Moon Goblins
15-05-2005, 15:46
(OOC:
Just as long as the magic/superpowers are kept to a minimum you can play middleweight, and if you dont have ten foot tall players made of rock :P
Camel Eaters
15-05-2005, 15:55
Damn! So the Bloodied Stones of Munster can't play Middleweight? Well they'll have to get more popular before I play them though.
And by the by. The Camlann Brigade is the name of the league. The Murder is the name of the team that's playing.

Of course, since the Heavyweight team seems to be shaping up as the "Uber-magical fighting force of death" you may want in the Middleweight teams...
[OOC: Your thinking Dungeons and Dragons trolls. Have you ever seen the 10th Kingdom? Those are more similar to the trolls of The Bone Mother. No regeneration, they are only a little larger than humans, but much more stronger and cunning, if a little dim, with a taste for flesh. They are also very industrious, more so than most of the races in the Fiefdom.]

Rex stood a few feet from the ball-bomb ready to kick it. He looked up to the sky said a quick prayer and sent the ball down the field as hard as his scaly, mutated, legs could. The ball flew into th air as a mob of cultist ran after it. The swarm of black jerseys with red lines on the shoulders crashed into the other team.

Thomas watched as the ball flew twords him, about 13 feet behind the massive pileup of his team and the mutants they were facing. He thought for a second as the ball flew closer, then ran twords the falling ball. he caught it with one hand, swung it around (never stopping the momentum the ball already had) and launched it as far from himself as possible. he watched as it soared away from him, over the pileup, back to the mutant who had kicked it in the first place.
Daistallia 2104
26-05-2005, 18:12
Jan Henks sat transfixed in front of his TV, watching the amazing game that had as yet been little known in Daistallia 2104.
His brain clicked.
Browny Spotside, that Hell Bovine who lived down the steet would make an awsome blocker. Aquila that Octosapien from the research center - eight arms! Ha what a great thrower he'd make!
Hmmm... wasn't there that Hri guy down at the rec center last week. His felinoid quickness might make for a good runner. That, and his tribal spring-claws. Those were capable of completely gutting even a Lish in a single swipe! Jan wondered if something like that would be allowed in this game. Maybe...
Even without them, whats-his name might still be an awsome runner.
Jan thought about it. Then he made a phone call.
OOC: Hell Bovines, Octosapiens, and Hri are all species in my region. Hell Bovine are 2 meter tall sapient cows. Hri are a feline race, small in stature, but very quick and strong - think bobcat crossed with a baboon, and multiplied. Octospaiens are sapient air breathing cephalopods (octopuses).
Lish are a large local musk-ox rhino mix.
Spring-claws are a set of long blades strapped on the forearms of the Hri. Think of Wolverine from the X-Men.

Rex stood there gasping at the ball as it came back at him. He scampered away and threw his teammate Urg the Ugly into the path of the ball. Urg grabed the ball and clutched it to his chest and dived into the pile of thrashing limbs and yells.

Thomas watched as an opposing team member grabbed the ball and divid into the pileup in the middle of the feild.
BOOM
At least half of the pile was blown apart as the unstability of the explosives in the ball became obvious. Thomas looked over at the sidelines, where the replacements were already running twords the field.
