The Birth of Rhiden

Rhiden

Rhiden is a large island country a few hundred miles off the coast of the country of India in the Indian Ocean. It was originally found by Muslim sailors during the time of the Crusades. The muslims, many thought to be from the areas of Yemen, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, brought many Christian prisoners of war to the island of Rhiden, and created large prison camps to torture, interogate, and execute the Christian prisoners.

After the Crusades, the Muslims abandoned the prisons, leaving many prisoners to fend for themselves. This explains the large amounts of white Christians on the island of Rhiden.

For thousands of years, Rhiden struggled to survived, and was largely ignored by the surrounding nations. However, as the British empire reached out across the globe, it stumbled upon this small, but thriving nation. Immigrants from Europe began to trickle in, and soon enough, in the mid 1700's, Rhiden was a British colony. They did not, however, need to fight for their independence. As the British Empire started to break down, the British simply left Rhiden, much like the Muslims did thousands of years before, and had them fend for themselves.

But this time, the Rhidinians were ready; they had taken the secrets of the Western World, and formed their own government in 1785. Their population began to grow as immigrants, mainly from Europe, seeped into Rhiden. It is not known why the Arabs did not immigrate into Rhiden. Many say it is because of an ancient Myth that the island is a curse to Arabs, especially Muslims, and that the ghosts of Knights from the Crusades protect the borders of the nation against Muslim invaders.

Throughout the major wars of the world (WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, etc.), Rhiden still remained largely ignored. They had no foreign embassies in other countries, and the only embassies of other nations in their country were British, Indian, and Japanese.

In 1998, however, things changed dramatically for Rhiden. Their last President was killed by a terrorist organization known as the RPA (Recession, Power, Anarchy). After the horrific assassination of the President, no one dared step up to the plate to take his place. Terrorists began to emerge from major cities in Rhiden, and wreak havoc upon the genuinely peaceful nation.

In 1999, General Chris Connors of the Rhiden Army United (RAU) stepped up to the plate and began a long war against the terrorists. The terrorists had claimed many territories, and these territories began to fill up with a distinct type of people: Islamic extremists.

The terrorist attacks in '98 caught the eye of many Islamic extremists from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, and other nations. They saw Rhiden as a clone of Western Civilization, and an easy target.

In 2000, the United States Counter Terrorism Services (USCTS), led by Lieutenant Marc Laurent (US Army, who was killed in the operation) unleashed Operation QUICK-TIME on Rhiden, in an effort to provide assistance and to stomp out the terrorist threat in Rhiden.

The Operation was a complete failure. The plane that was inbound to Rhiden was shot down by the RPA. There were only three survivors that landed behind enemy lines. Staff Sergeant Jack Scott (USMC), Sergeant Eric Straghten (USMC), and Corporal Kyle Siner (US Army). The three men, with help of the RAU, managed to fight their way to a military complex and brief General Connors on the situation of the terrorist territories.

Colonel Viper Johnson, Commander of the Rhiden Marine Forces (RMF), attempted a diplomatic campaign at getting more assistance from world super-power's. Viper's mission started, and ended, in Russia, after Viper was attacked by hired assassins on his way out of the Kremlin. He only managed to convince the United States in helping Rhiden, whom now completely regret sending in the USCTS.

General Connors, with the help of the three Americans, is now taking a hard stand against the terrorist forces, and plans on winning back his terrorities and riding the enemy once and for all.

(OOC: Hey folks. I'm new to the NS Forums, but certainly not new to Role Playing. I'm leaving next month for Marine Corps boot camp so I just wanna have some fun before I leave. I'm pretty much just looking for cooperative Role Players. Especially someone to Role Play the United States, and possibly the enemy terrorist forces. Anyone else who'd like to join and spice this up a bit is more than welcome to come join.)
