“Have you seen this report?” asked Justinian, with a note of horror distinctly in his voice.

“I have seen many reports,” responded Peter Vernis, “Can you be more specific?”

“The construction mafia, they’ve killed somebody. The victim refused to join the union apparently,” responded Justinian, passing Vernis the report, while sipping his tea.

“This seems too much even for them,” responded Vernis, “Normally they just beat people up until they get what the want.”

“Oh they’re still promising to strike,” said Justinian, in a wary tone, “If there is a police investigation they are promising to bring all Farminan industry to a stand still.”

“What do you wish done?” asked Peter Vernis.

“I want them destroyed,” Justinian yelled, before speaking more calmly, “We shall bide our time. We shall pick off the weaker unions one by one. We shall pit the unions against each other. We shall be as quite as a mouse, little by little, we shall whittle away at the unions. Then we shall encounter the clash of the titans.”

“What if labour solidarity, as the left called for, is international?” asked Vernis, cautiously.

“Then we strike internationally,” said Justinian, “Spread the word, but quietly, to those we know we can trust. On this day, in a year’s time, the unionist threat will meet its final end.”

Present Day

Andre Cirtus poured himself another glass of wine. It was the early hours of the morning and he found himself surrounded by international delegates and business representatives, in their final secret meeting.

“Gentlemen, today the threat to our people, our nation and our very freedom will be crushed,” he said raising his glass, “All throughout the world, governments shall say ‘no’ to extortion and militancy. And as we say ‘no’, our cry will be so loud it shall be heard across seas and over mountains; nations by the hundred will join our great conservative revolution.”

He made a dramatic pause before continuing, “Farminan unions are already in anarchy, the greats are in chaos, and only the titans remain. Yesterday, a new dock has been ‘secretly’ opened in Karion, staffed entirely by non-union labour. Unfortunately someone has leaked this to the Labour party, who then in turn, will undoubtedly leak it to the Maritime Union; the lesser titan. They shall charge straight into the trap. And in that trap, they, the greater titan that is the CWU and the entire union movement shall be destroyed, in the name of freedom. TO FREEDOM.”

He raised his glass to his lips and sipped the beautiful red liquid. He had just caused an international war like no other. Word of new dock had already reached the MUF and the battle strategy would be strongly cemented by the next morning. The clash of the titans had begun.

The Leader of the CWU Julius Harrod recined in his chair as his advisers filed in around the big ovel table. "Gentlemen." he cracked his knuckles, "It appears that the goverment is attempting to destroy us." His voice was unemotional and wooden as though he was reading out statistics about workers, not about the death of his union.

"In the last 12 month all the other unions, other than ourselves and the MUF, have disappeared or have been destroyed by the goverment."

"I have no proof of this, but I assure you that if the only explanation to what is happening, now today I have recived a report from our brothers at the MUF that the goverment has built a port using entirly non-union labour."

"You may wonder how this affects us but i assure you it does, I balive this is a trap and so do they. However they have little choice to charge into the breach to protect there members."

"I said we shall aid them if they are in trouble, finanacially and millitary if needs be. We shall sit upon the side until then. However talk to your shop stewards and your members and tell them to prepare for trouble."

Colonel Steel of the Combined Royal Farminian Defence Force hastily buttoned up his jacket as he ran through the corridors of the command bunker and he hastily grabbed a cup of coffee from a passing trolley, gulping it down in one go.
The noises from the central chamber already reached his ears as he approached the blast doors, massive black obsidian titans that protected the delicate operation inside. They opened without a creak or any effort as Steel pushed against them, revealing the command room as well as the military and civilian staff attached to his command.

"CO present!" His second shouted, upon sighting Steel, military personal saluted, the civilians just stood-by.
"At ease."
The staff relaxed as Steel made his way to the tactical holographic display where they stood.
"What is so damned urgent that it requires you to wake me up in the middle of the damned night gentlemen?" Steel asked, putting his hands down on the plate of the tactical display.
"Colonel Steel." One of the civilian observers started. "We have reason to believe that the Farminians are up to something, a few months ago we investigated the death of a man; we found the Farminian where not willing to work with us and with that our investigation went into a dead end. However, we where able to find out some other things." Steel gazed at the man, who dug through his stack of papers, keeping them all in perfect order as he pulled out a thick report. "Unions have been disappearing, not as in, really disappearing but being bankrupted, disbanded, assimilated and even some talks of some sort of war between different unions."

Steel held his hand in front of him, silencing the man. "I want to know one thing."

The observer nervously nodded. "Yes Colonel."

"Is Justinian involved?"

"Does the Empire maintain this taskforce for the defence of Farmina?" The observer chuckled, the rest of the staff joined in, it was a insiders joke that was brought up many months ago, but it still lasted and the Farminians would know.

All unions should be destroyed or their actions be severly curtailed. The militants within these organisations are a pague upon not only the governemts but the hard working decent workers whom are only trying to better themselves and have the right not to be intimidated by a minority of selfish cowards who are only out to line their own pockets.

OOC: I don't think your leaders are supposed to be completely mad; and you still have 100% membership.

What I was intending to happen was for your union to respond angrily to the un-unionised dock workers and to strike there. This post seems largely nonsense.

OOC: Lolz, ok....... I'll make another one.

IC:

During the weekly meeting, a large bunch of information was shwon on the new non-unionised dock companys. They were worthy bussines-opponents, but would they be able to stand a large war? The Admirals, as the leading figures of the union would like to call theirselfes, were not happy about the fact that a war with the new companys, and even with the government. But what would need to happen, had to happen. The Admirals were now looking for support from the outside world, under the cover that the government was destroying the unions. Praetonia and Camewot were contacted, but the commique was an international secret, and many nations should have received it.

"What do you mean 'no picket'?" asked Chancellor Andre Cirtus.

"There hasn't been a picket at our new dock in Karion," responded John Smith, the head of Farminan Shipping Inc, the single largest employer of MUF members.

"But its gone eight o'clock," said Cirtus, "They must be picketing the Karion dock."

"There is no sign of any intention of the MUF to do anything," warned Smith, "They are completely inactive. The CWU has made more noise than anyone, and that was only noise."

"My source has confirmed they know about the dock," said Cirtus, "To be so tolerant of non-union labour, or scabs to use union terminology, is most out of character. I fear we aren't the only ones who are scheming."

"Lord Chancellor, do you have a plan?" asked Mr Smith.

"I have many plans, it is the choice of plan that is the problem," responded Andre Cirtus, "I think a conservative approach should be a good start. Make Karion dock public knowledge, speak of non-union labour and individual contracts. Show the media the nation's most efficient dock, an abomination in the eyes of the unions. Let's see how long their pride holds."

With that Andre Cirtus took a sip of coffee and looked sternly at the business man.

FNN News

I'm Karen Chadben, and I'm here at the Karion dock, which has been labeled the most efficient port in the country and its staffed entirely by non-union labour.

Farminan Shipping Inc is claim such huge increases in productivity that more ports may be opened, also without a union monopoly on labour.

As you can see hundreds of ships have already been loaded, and this is only the port's first week in operation...

"See it!" Harrod raved, pointing at the TV screen, "Soon they'll all be trying to have non-union labour-call the leaders of the MUF, tell them that we should have a general strike. Protest to the goverment as well."

Lesser Chancellor Watson passed the communiqué to Andre Cirtus, quietly and emotionless. Chancellor Cirtus read the message and pondered its words, before looking up at the board of his advisors, “Typical CWU, ready to strike if the bread is a mil off.”
The entire room gave a brief laugh. Cirtus waited for the laugh to die down, “The construction union is threatening a general strike. They have officially protested about the use of non-union labor at Karion. I suggest we gave them a sullen warning, one that they shall completely ignore.”
With that came a series of affirmative nods from all the board.

To Julius Harrod

I feel that recent threats of industrial action require a reminder of industrial law. Failure to work as required in the collective agreements for construction labor supply for 2005 signed by your own hand, could constitute a violation of the contract, and gives the employer in the specific case the right to terminate the contract. If your entire union strikes, this could be perceived as violation of every single collective agreement, to which the CWU is a party to. I also hope to remind you that inciting the violation of a contract to cause financial harm can result in suing.

From Chancellor Jonathon Water

OOC: There is a legal striking period, between when one contract lapses and the next one is signed, otherwise striking is ‘unprotected,’ which means contracts can be terminated as discussed above. However the heavyweight unions have historically ignored this regulation and strike when they please because businesses needed the workers, and the unions had all of them.

The Admirals were happy, the construction workers were about to strike, but they didn't think about striking at all. Why would they? They could do better things....
Along the coast there was a small town, with a small prison. The maffia would make their first strike there...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

An official governmental document was send to the prison, at midnight that night a black van would come and pick up 2 prisoners. It was all fake, but the union was powerfull.

It was a dark night at Muffingtown, the prison located itself outside the city. A black van drove up the freeway to the prison. The gaurd was sleeping, but awoke when the van approached.

Halt! Identify yourself !
We're the secret governmental pickup service!

Oh right, show your papers!

Nobody needed to show their papers, the silenced pistol had done its work.
They drove into the central court where the prisoners were waiting. The gaurds asked no questions, they were happy to be freed of these 2 troublemakers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hours later, when the sun showed its first sunshine, the 2 drove up to the non-union dock. They showed their workers papers, the union had taken care of it. There were no dockworkers yet, they were the first.
Gregory threw two grenades into the boat waiting to be unloaded, and Timothy threw a grenade into the official office.
They started to run, but the gaurds chased them quick. After a short firefight, the two managed to reach the car. At that point, Gregory was shot in the head. Timothy escaped, the plan succeeded.

OOC: But I though the unions in Farmina had a mighty maffia?

No, the CWU is called a construction mafia, because it strikes and strikes until it gets its way; extortion essentially. The CWU is very tough fisted, but they aren't looking to cause a civil war they will certainly lose, same goes for the MUA. Such an act wouldn't involve the police and the military; bad move for the unions.

Ah all the unions rolled into one fancy union, it is quite effective, that way there wont be union competition yet most workers are generally will be protected. As a Bordello we salute you.
