The Moepoeian Republic

This is a special report on the birth of Moepoeia’s new National flag.
After the troublesome past which the citizens of Moepoeian have endured they finally have something to show that the country is now a fully unified country and that is the way it is going to stay. After the years of the separation and then the reunification of the two states there has been still some unease about another civil war occurring. After some thought and suggestions it was decided upon to allow the people to design and choose their own flag, in hopes that what will set the countries mind at ease.
For the past 5 months people from all around Moepoeia have been sending in their ideas, drawings and own versions to the National Flag committee, newly formed by the government, for judgment. Not only did they have to send a design the entrant needed to have a written explanation of the flag. The president of the Committee Aubrey Doran was excited by all the submissions.
“We got some really good designs. There was also the occasional joke one,” as he holds up a flag that has nothing by a marijuana leaf on it, “But all in all they have been excellent it was hard only picking three from the many. I must say that the one the people have chosen was always my favorite. *wink*”
From all the submissions of flags the committee selected the top three that fit the criteria of what the committee was looking for. The criteria being:
A. Shows unity of the country
B. Reflects Moepoeia’s peaceful and diplomatic nature
C. Represents the country as a whole
D. Must be appropriate to be a national flag
Once the committee picked the top three there was a national vote on which flag was to be adopted as our new national flag. Out of the three the people chose the first flag selected by the committee and the running favorite.

The simple white flag with blue stars surrounded by a pink circle was the flag chosen by the people. The seven blue stars represent all the provinces and also represent the fact that they all touch water. They are surrounded by a pink circle that represents the allied states of the country. The design of the stars and the circle represent the lotus flower and the white background of the flag is for peace and neutrality.
Today the Prime Minister, Melissa DeBruyn, approved and welcomed the new flag.
“This flag represents our wonderful country and the people of it. I am glad that the people where able to choose and design their own flag. This is a great symbol of national pride and I hope that we will be able to live by what the flag represents.”
Shortly after there a national ceremony was held to make the newly chosen flag official, the crowds where cheering as the new flag was raised outside of the House of Moepoeian Representatives also as the flag was raised outside of the Prime ministerial residence.
