There are three main components to a matter-antimatter engine:

• Gravitic storage rings - Antimatter must be separated from normal matter so storage rings with gravitic fields can move the antimatter around the ring until it is needed to create energy.
• Feed system - When the spacecraft needs more power, the antimatter will be released to collide with a target of matter, which releases energy.
• Gravitic rocket nozzle thruster - Like a particle collider on Earth, a long Gravitic nozzle will move the energy created by the matter-antimatter through a thruster.

(The gravitic Fields are created by the Dovin Basals that these ships employ.)

The Antimatter missiles carry 1.5 ounces of antimatter in the tip contained in a small electromagnetic field using an advanced form of the Penning Trap that is currently used to contain antimatter.
(Despite the belief of many people this ship is not a cross between Star Trek tech. and Star Wars tech. It uses a theoretical engine developed by NASA and Star Wars tech for the shields and some(most) the weapons.)

these vessels use Yorik Coral outer shell and employ creatures called dovin basals for defense. The dovin basals can manipulate gravity, and can project miniature black holes that deflect or absorb incoming enemy fire. The dovin basal can also be used to pull the ship through space in the rare event of an engine malfunction.

(The Yorik Coral and the dovin basals are used on Yuuzhan Vong ships in the star wars series New Jedi Order.)

One gram of antimatter contains the energy of a 20-kiloton nuclear bomb.

So therefore since the missiles use 1.5oz of antimatter that is 42.6 grams, that means that the force of the missile is equal to a 852-kiloton nuclear bomb(with out the bad things like Nuclear fallout and radiation poisoning).

the ship seems a little small for the crew you have. some quick math for this one, An average human being takes up about 63 cubic ft of space, time 2000 (what you posted the crew as) thats 126,000 without life support, weapons, hull or any of the other things needed to keep humans alive in space, your ship has a volume of about 6,300,000 cubic feet of space, to fit 126,000 cubic feet of people, probably 2,000,000 cf of weaponry, and at least 11,340,000 cf. of life support (Assuming a Human requires 90 time their volume for air purification, waste reclamation, food and water, actually a conservative estimate as it doesn't include living and sleeping space, just supporting everyone on your ship for any length of time requires more volume than your ship has)

You do know that currently, produced antimatter lasts for for a very short amount of time due to the inadequacy of the magnetic containment? I would come up with something better (Gravitic containment if you're already using Dovan Bassals)

OOC: Mondoth, I only read 1 book of New jedi order and i didnt particularly like it either.....but i do however like some of the things that they use in the series. I mean, you have to admit, the Dovin Basal is pretty cool, and thanks for the idea of Gravitic containment.

edited the post somewhat, did some math because your ship really is way to small for 2,000 people, I'll admit dovin bassals are cool but some FTers might not like them.

The main probelm with using magnetic containment for antimatter is that neutrons have no charge, they aren't magnetic and from what I've read on the subject, no matter how much you try not too you're going to get some neutrons when you create anti matter, and that'll ruin your day when your working with that amount of antimatter.

I could be wrong as I'm not a physiscist by any means and I have only a passing familiarty with Antimatter, but what I've read indicates that magnetic containment is not the way to go for military applications

Also, the key to defeating the Dovin Basals is to have other ships fire at the craft from other directions less than a second after the first shot(Having multiple shots fired at the same time will not help as the dovin basal will simply create a larger black hole to obsorb the shots, but it can not create more than 1 at the same time but it can move the shield around quickly to obsorb other shots which is why you have to be fast).
