Come on guys, there must be better than whats on page 1-2-3-4 around, there all FC threads, storefronts and gentric threads, or cloased out to me by Earths. I'm feeling my interest in II slipping, it's been a while since I have been involved in a great RP on II.

Hell, I don't want to spend all my time of general, anyone got any free time to start a RP with me, it can be any type, you choose as long as it's a bit origanal, invade me, wargames, caracter RP's, ANYTHING!

We could RP a wargame between my slivers and your forces, test the slivers capabilities and all that stuff, especially against the massive austian army, it'd be a wargame to speak of for years to come. Just not a real war, we'd get raped in a real war, 30 million versus a few odd billion, I wonder who wins that one?

This is the problem, as I see. II has become like a CounterStrike-like game where everyone is looking for a server but no one is can be bothered to make one. RPing is a two-way street, not just replying to threads but also starting them. It really doesnt matter if they're good / bad / indifferent, we really need to get things going again. Look at page 1 now. I doubt even 25% of the threads are RPs. Take a look at this:

Basically all of those threads are RPs or something RP-like (new weapons etc). Something was actually happening. I think there are two main causes for why this is no longer the case:

1) The Jolt move. Im not sure if you all remember, but a lot of RPers disappeared around the time of the Jolt move and never posted on the new forums.

2) RWC / NATO ignorefests - these were like the FC threads except they involved the entire core of II. This led to nations not in the alliances leaving II and when the alliances were disbanded (well OK NATO is still here, but it never does anything (please dont turn this into a debate about NATO. Im just saying - it doesnt)).

3) These two things led to boredom in II. Lots of players either quit NS, fell inactive or went to the NS forum, leading to a downward spiral.

You want to know how to pull II back out? Make RPs. Lots of them.

What I found was that as soon as you got involved in a war, an entire alliance would declare on you. No-one proclaimed what alliance they were part of, so any war you entered, you would lose.

Also, when I started a war agaisnt slavery, I got called a beeding heart Liberalist, but when I did something like that, I got attacked for being a uncivilised idiot. You can't win!

Sure, I would join a war game, I have one going on NS, so I dont want to host another one here. I have never, ever been in a good RP, in the three years I have been here....it may be me, my luck, or the fact I have never been in an alliance, either.

Alliances never used to be dominant. All that came in mid to late 2004. If you ask me, mass-alliances should be scrapped ASAP.

Even if you had a group of five mates, you couldn't protect yourself. Even then there would be larger nations waiting to jump on the bandwagon.

Im a nomad by choice, I never got close to too many nations. I've got lost on account of people leaving, coming back, etc. There seems to be new dominant nations, and very few recognisable names.

Doujin? Clan Smoked Jaguar? Independent Hitmen?

There actually arent any dominant nations. Not any more. All of the "veterans" are 1.5bn +, and that kind of nation is really hard to invade, even for a nation which is 2 or 3bn. Im not saying all nations should be on their own, but we shouldnt have massive 15+ member alliances which all jump into threads en masse when some minor little thing happens to their members.

I'ms still talking of the veteran's that have been here for a long time. I see there are new veterans, but even I am not of that standard.

I understand how you feel, I am working on starting a few RP's of my own. I started one yesterday, Invite Only however, but that is because it is a history of my nation RP. There are good RP's around, just gotta find them or start them.

Well the 'big' Alliances of Mid 04-Early 05 don't really exist in anything but name now.

RWC - Officially disbanded but the OOC and IC links are still there, even if some of the members are now very selective about who they RP with.

NATO - Haven't been heard from ages, still around but not active as an alliance.

NWO/RBA - As good as dead after Dr_Twist left and Russian Forces has faded into inactivity.

Personally, I will be bringing out 2-3 new RP's soon (i.e. next one or two weeks) these will be:

The creation of the Garibaldi Sea Line by taking a series of unclaimed islands South of the Guilds in the Imperial Armies chain (part of the Imperial Armies and Friends civil war).

The conspiracy against Emperor Cutter to put his son Septimus on the Imperial Guilder Throne.

A character RP of an influential inmate of a Guilder Work Camp, showing the ups and downs of life on the other side of Imperial Guilder justice. This RP will highlight the scale of resistance to Imperial rule as well as many of the myriad of groups fighting it, as well as focusing on this one person's story.

Well aust what you fail to consider is that slivers can ALL fight, the army isn't the 1:6 ratio of combatants to support forcs used in modern armies, it's 1:1, since every sliver can serve as a support personnel and a combatant, I've got no artillery or conventional airforce but I've got a whole army that has the ability to fly, I'm not saying I wouldn't lose, I probably would lose, badly, just not as badly as you think. I'd be willing to start a wargame thread any time if you'd like me to.(if you wanna know more about slivers in general ask warhaven, if you wanna know more about my slivers I'll post a link to my sliver guidebook, third post down explains sliver abilities)

If y'all are bored, you might want to try doing some UN-related RP stuff. There are a few international UN organizations that could use dedicated and experienced RPers to get them going good.

Honestly, I kind of miss the heady days of yore, with Dinh and Alex roaming the Austian countryside after-dark while the Usurper's forces crowded into that narrow pass to keep several nations from coming up the river through that empty state (oh, what was that place called..?) This was about one RL year ago, IIRC...

Standing army approximately 10 million strong. I have no need for pay or equipment, food and housing comes from being a member of the hive transportation is provided by them, so I've got no airforce as such, but they're not capable of engaging in combat at over 100 yards, so thats a bit of a drawback, and then their only weapon is a flame type thing(it's biological, I'll explain later) until they reach melee and they can use their talons, they wear no clothing because they are naturally armored and they have no guns or heavy AFV's because they lack arms, having only one or two appendages and then the appendages end in big claws, so they really aren't good at fine motor manipulation. A single foot soldier(Muscle sliver) is nearly six feet tall and is the only humanoid sliver, they have two arms that end in three clawed hands, all other slivers are like snakes and insects combined, they have two snake-like tails and a single talon that is used for combat and basic motor manipulation, they have rather large beaks, like pteranodons from jurassic park and fight with their talons and beaks at melee range. Sorry about that I figured you were since I was the one talking about war-games.

A lots happened since then though, I've gone through 4 Emporers for one thing, Dinh and Alex have been made into heros and I've aslo given Alex a entire Austian Provence to command, with Lutent Shivers to help of course...

It was a while back with a diffrent nation, Nuevo Kowloon which was DEATed for inactivity, that was after I wiped out his entire population without nukes of course...

I tried to come up with the perfect biological weapon, I found it in the card game magic the gathering, then I made biological reasons for everything they could do, I thought I did rather well and appreciate the positive input from such an experienced RPer.

NK was DEAT'ed for inactivity, which could be explained by the aforementioned Nuking! (actually, being annihilated that way worked very well as an in-game excuse...)
I am...decidedly "NOT" playing Nuevo Kowloon again. It works a lot better for them to be actually exterminated, rather than puppet-wanked back into existence.

BTW: Sorry I dropped out without giving a good reason, Aust-the crisis set-on rather quickly and I lost Internet entirely for about five months.

That's because most UN members (and I dare say most NSers in general) aren't familiar with the variety of species and cultures being RPed. A few RPers such as yourself could change that; change the UN for the better.

I know how you feel, I've just started my GCSE's this year, and the workloads trepled, not to metnion my job aitering and a paperround. And then I've got my season tickets....
