I thought it would be best if I actually made a factbook, so here it is:
The Libertarian Factbook
Geography:
The United Socialist States of Relative Liberty, the USSRL, consists of no more than three permantly inhabited planets of various geography, climate and resources, all located in the eastern quarter of the galaxy, although every planet in the three systems is ready to be used as defensive stations should an enemy fleet cross the border.
Liberty One:
The capital planet, home of the Council and the Dictator, is the third planet in the Alpha system. The surface is mostly water (90%) and dry land is concentrated to one continent on the northern hemisphere with most kinds of climate as well as hundreds of tropical islands around the equator.
Liberty One serves as the home of the Governement as well as being the number one food-processing planet (eighty per cent of all food reserves are gathered here) and the Relativity orbital station is the largest docking bay in Relative Liberty and provides a safe port for the RLSF (Relative Liberty's Spacefleet) and an impressive sight for those tourists that actually make it this far east.
Liberty Two:
The industrial heart of Relative Liberty is a dry, hot and uninhabitable desert with almost no water and is the innermost planet of the Alpha system. Despite this it has flourished, mostly due to the many metals and oildepots here. Under the capitalistic rule of Red-eyes the planet was literally owned by megacorporations such as Ultor, whose name has become synonymous with terror and oppression. Now every part of the industry is owned by the government, and therefore the people, and miners gladly go to work knowing that the government cares for them and does everything it can to protect them from the hazards that comes with working thousands of metres below the surface.
However, the planet is totally uninhabitable as the atmosphere consists of 80% sulphuric acid and the rest is mostly a number of chlorides, wich meanes that no permanent buildings can be built above ground and all miners live in orbital stations and are ferried down to the planet by specially built dropships.
Liberty Three:
The smallest. planet of Relative Liberty is the second of the Alpha system. It's cold and the temperature rarely rises above zero degrees Celsius and eternal storms wreak havoc as they reshape the icy surface. One would think that a planet so close to the sun would be warm but it almost completely lacks an atmosphere and is constantly shadowed by Liberty Two, a fact that is laughable unless you live there.
Many would say that Liberty Two is the industrial heart of Relative Liberty, but this is only half-true. While Liberty Three lacks all kinds of conventional important resources it has something that Liberty Two doesn't: Enough windpower to supply the gargantuan factories that have been built in hollowed-out interior of Liberty Three.
Whatever metal the miners on Liberty Two dig up is useless unless it is purified in the eastern part of of Liberty Three (the one that's always pointing towards Liberty Two), crafted into whatever parts needed in the center and then assembled in the western part, thus allowing a constant flow of standardized equipment for both civil and military use.

Mk.IV Pulse Rifle (PR): An automatic rifle used by the MC and the Army. It carries a small fusion reactor capable supplying it with 100 rounds before the soldier needs to reload by changing to new MPFRPSM (Man Portable Fusion Reactor Power Supply Magazine) which creates the plasma needed for the bullets. It mounts an underbarrel grenade launcher capable of launching 40mm HESH (High Explosive Squash Head), HE (High Explosive), HEF (High Explosive Fragmention) or incendiary grenades. It is fitted with a scope capable of 1.5x magnification, as well as a flashlight or laser sight on the side of the barrel.
Dimensions (mm): 1013x120x43
Weight (kilograms): 4
Magazine capacity: 100 plasma rounds, but only 50 bullets.
Rate of fire (rpm): 700
Mk.I Light Sniper Rifle (LSR, pronounced laser): A gunpowder weapon designed some five hundred years ago. It is fitted with a scope capable of 10x, 15x and 20x magnification. The 7.92mm DS bullet leaves no trace in the air, unlike plasma bolts which would make the air shiver because of the heat. It is easy to manufacture, repair and transport and therefore has remained in service for five hundred years.
Dimensions (mm): 1184x130x50
Weight (kilograms): 4,5
Magazine capacity: 10
Rate of fire: N/A
M.II Light Anti-Vehicle Sniper Rifle (LAVRS): A 20 mm recoilless rifle fitted with an IR scope capable of 2x, 10x and 15x magnification. It fires a 20 scramjet shapecharged RPG capable of knocking out light vehicles.
Dimensions (mm): 2000x150x75
Weight (kilograms): 40
Magazine capacity: N/A
Rate of fire: N/A
Mk.V HG (Hand Gun): A small handgun issued to every soldier regardless of rank. It is, unlike most other small arms in the RLAF (Relative Liberty Armed Forces), based on disruption technology and not plasma. It is possible for soldiers to store the energy of a shot without actually releasing it thus making the next shot twice as powerful, this is extremely dangerous but is still popular amongst the ranks of the Special Operations Department On Foreigners, SODOF, a department that handles special operation in other countries.
Dimensions (mm): 270x100x43
Weight (kilograms): 2,7
Magazine capacity: 20 plasma rounds and bullets
Rate of fire: N/A
Mk.III SMG: Based on the Mk.V HG the Mk.III SMG features two barrels, one on top of the other, to provide faster rate of fire without overheating. The solid stock of polymer plastic reduces the impact of the recoil on the gunner's shoulder. It is standard issue amongst security personell and SpecOps, both civilian and military.
Dimensions (mm): 680x145x45
Weight (kilograms): 2,7
Magazine capacity: 30 plasma rounds and bullets
Rate of fire (rpm): 800
Mk.VI Plasma Based Anti-Tank Weapon (PBLAW, pronounced pee-blow): This is a simple plasma based anti-tank weapon which is desinged to provide medium sized groups of infantry with a dependable weapon against armoured targets. It features an IR scope as well as a laser sight. It launches a single extremly powerful scamjet plasma bolt capable of penetrating the armour of heavy tanks with high accuracy, but unfortunately it can only hold one shot.
Dimensions (mm): 980x200x250
Weight (kilograms): 40
Magazine capacity: N/A
Rate of fire (rpm): N/A
Mk.II Plasma Based Light Anti-Tank Rifle: (PBLATR, pronounced pee-bladder): This is a light anti-tank rifle that is designed to provide squads with some AT capability. It is capable of penetrating th armour of light tanks and some ligt medium tanks, although they stand no chance against fortifications or heavy tanks. It features a bipod/tripod and an IR scope.
Dimensions (mm): 1503x125x260
Weight (kilograms): 15
Magazine capacity: 30 plasma rounds and bullets
Rate of fire (rpm): 30
Mk.I Laser Based Light Machine Gun (LBLMG): An automatic weapon that provides covering fire in assaults. It is laser based unlike most other weapons of the RLAF and comes with either a bipod or a tripod, the former mounted at the end of the barrel, the latter at the beginning.
Dimensions (mm): 1260x300x275
Weight (kilograms): 20
Magazine capacity: 200 plasma rounds and bullets
Rate of fire (rpm): 700
Mk.VII Assault Gun for Infantry support (AGIS): This gun is designed to provide charging infantryith some hard hitting fire support against lightly armoured targets such as pillboxes and gun platforms. Its six rotating barrels fire HE rounds at a staggering rate and the gunner must be stationary, and some times crouching, to fire.
Dimensions (mm): 1370x400x300
Weight (kilograms): 30
Magazine capacity: belt fed
Rate of fire (rpm): 950

Mk.IV Cavalry Mechanized Walker (Mech) ''Tincan'': This is a lightly armoured and armed walker whose primary roles is fighting infantry alongside infantry regiments, but in emergency lack of other recce units serve as forwars OPs. They consist of a head 3x3x2.5 metres with two five metre legs attached (ATST in Star Wars would be a good example) and are armed with two 20 mm HE automatic cannons on the side of the head.
Dimensions (m): 3 x 8x 3,5
Weight (kilograms): 27 000
Armament: Four 20 mm automatic guns mounted on spontons on the sides of the head, one flamethrower mounted in a turret on the chin
Mk.V Infantry Mechanized Walker ''Hellfire'': This is a heavily armoured and armed modification of the Mk.IV for AT service. It's weaponry and armour more than makes up for its lack of speed. It usually serves in the fouth or fifth line to provide fire support against heavliy armoured targets such as tanks or bunkers.
Dimensions (m): 3 x 8,5 x 3,5
Weight (kilograms): 27 500
Armament: Three rocket pods with forty rockets in each mounted on the cheeks and the top of the head
Mk.VI Hermaphrodite Mechanized Walker ''Asskicker'': The second modification of the Mk.IV is the Asskicker Hermaphrodite. It is the least common and the most versatile mech in service, as it is capable of taking on, and taking out, both infantry and armour. It mounts two rocket pods, two automatic guns and one flamethrower.
Dimensions (m): 3 x 8,5 x 3,5
Weight (kilograms): 27 350
Armament: Two automatic cannons mounted on a sponton on the left cheek, two rocket pods on the left cheek and the top of the head and one flametgrower on the chin
Mk.VI Self Propelled Gun (SPG) ''Doorknocker'': This heavily armoured vehicle is supposed to give advancing infantry a good weapon against heavy and medium bunkers and otherwise fortified positions. It was first designed as a heavy tank but the new type of turret was concidered unpractical and expensive to massproduce and thus the Libertarian Arms Manufacture removed the turret and fitted a single 200 mm gun, thus the SPG was born. Due to its tank heritage it is capable of resisting direct hits by medium and light heavy tanks.
Dimensions (m): 8,48 x 3,6 x 2,2
Weight (kilograms): 63 000
Armament: One 200 mm rifled assault gun which fires HESH RPGs, two 12,7 mm MGs mounted on pintles and one flamethrower mounted beside the main gun
Mk.VI(A1) Self Propelled Anti Tank Gun (SPATG) ''Can-opener'': This modification of the Mk.VI SPG features a long smoothbore barrel which fires ramjet DS plasma rounds with high accuracy even at ranges beyond 3 000 metres. It is designed to knock out heavy and medium tanks and is more than capable of filling this role since it has from times to times been deployed as a shore defence weapon to take out supporting ships.
Dimensions (m): 9 x 3,7 x 2
Weight (kilograms): 63 700
Armament: One 120 mm smoothbore plasma gun, one 7,92 MG mounted on the right side of the main gun
Mk.VI(A2) Self Propelled Anti Aircraft (SPAA): The third version of the popular Mk.VI SPG design is supposed to provide infantry with AA cover, while it also gives them an extra edge against enemy infantry. It must be stationary to fire accurately and thus features four ''feet'' which can be lowered to the ground, this is not necessary when pinning infantry though. It is not as heavily armoured as the other designs but is still capable of resisting most man portable AT non-energy weapons.
Dimensions (m): 8 x 4 x 5
Weight (kilograms): 63 300
Armament: One 20mm quadruple Automatic Anti Aircraft Artillery (AAAA) mounted on a rotating platform
Mk.VI(A3) Mobile Multi Launch Rocket System (MMLRS) ''Armageddon'': The fourth version of the Mk.VI is a lightly armoured platform for the Comet rocket pods. It provides the MC with long range artillery capable of knocking out entire enemy army regiments.
Dimensions (m): 8 x 4 x 5,5
Weight (kilograms): 45 000
Armament: Two Comet rocket pods
Mk.VII Main Battle Tank (MBT) ''Liberty'': This tank provides the armoured support for infantry when the mechs just aren't enough and the Mk.VI(A1) is an overkill. It is an all round medium tank capable of engaging enemy armour and infantry and thus it can carry a wide assortment of both plasma bolts, HEF, HEAT, APDS and HEFAPDS, though only two types of ammunition is carried at a given time.
Dimensions (m): 7,6 x 3,7 x 2,7
Weight (kilograms): 62 600
Armament: One 120 mm smoothbore gun, eighteen smoke greande launchers, one co-axial 7,92 mm MG, one 12,7 and one 7,92 MG on top of the turret
Mk.II Turbolaser ''Streetsweeper'' platform: This is a simple hover platform for a quadruple laser automatic gun. It is desinged to give defending infantry in urban areas a clear advantage over the enemy, since it can lay covering and pinning fire with relative ease. It is extremly dangerous to enemy infantry but is uncapable of penetrating the armour of anything but civilian grade vehicles.
Dimensions (m): 2 x 1 x 2
Weight (kilograms): 200
Armament: One quadruple support grade laser gun

The Departement of Defense:
Army: The army's duty is to defend the borders of the United Socialist States of Relative Liberty from external threats, as well as wage wars outside the borders of Relative Liberty should the need ever arise. The army consists mainly of drafted personel with a few career officers, whom are all Colonels or higher. The drafts was traditionally executed in such a way that the Dictator would pledge to the citizens to defend their nation, the citizens would then sign up a the nearest recruiting center and, after two weeks of basic training, be sent to the front. Nowadays, the Dictator simply gives the order to draft and the Drafting Corps chooses physically fit personell to fight. This eliminates all the bureaucracy of the former system and greatly enhances the nation's ability to defend itself.
Marine Corps: The Corps' duty is to wage war against the enemies of Relative Liberty and to defend the borders should the need ever arise. They are an elite branch of the Armed Forces, completely separated from the Army, and are all genemodified career soldiers who recive the absolute best equipment and training. A MC officer always has authorty over an Army officer of the same rank, and quite often officers with much higher rank.
Fleet: The Fleet's duty is to defend the borders of Relative Liberty, to deliver troops to where they are needed and to keep enemies from shipping troops to our planets. As with the Army, the personel within the Fleet is mainly drafted with a few career soldiers who serve as sceleton crews in times of peace.
Navy: The Navy's duty is to protect the waters of Liberty One, mainly the shores of the capital island. Like most other branches it's personell consists of drafted personell with a few career soldiers as sceleton crews.
Special Forces:
Special Operations Departement On Foreigners, SODOF: This is the most closely guarded secret of Relative Liberty, and not even rumours are heard from anyone lower than the Heads of Branches. The departement supplies High Command with an endless stream of information about other nations, as well as kidnapping or murdering those nations' leaders and important persons. The SODOF answers to noone but the Dictator himself and nobody has ever seen one and survived.
Speciel Departement On Internal Affairs: SODOIA: This is, as opposed to SODOF, at a secret at all. The police rules by the doctrine ''let them hate as as long as they fear us'' and their black and blue uniforms are hated, but feared, everywhere. These are the ones that organized the massmurder of the demonstrants in the Liberty Park in Garithos and later assassinated all party leaders. They handle every matter within the borders of Relative Liberty, wether it is rooting out dissidents or annihilate rioteers and rebels.
Other:
Economy Departement: This department handles the economical aspects of Relative Liberty, such as nationalising industries, pointing out strategical targets on a grand scale, rebuilding conquered ground and recycling the dead.
Diplomatic Corps: This departement handles diplomatic contacts with other nations and officers from this departement are often sent as embassys or messengers to other governements.

AAM: Air to Air Missile, a guided weapon used by planes against other planes.
AP: Armour Piercing, anything designed to defeat the armour of a target.
Battlecruiser: A ship larger than a standard cruiser but smaller than a battleship, used as last line of defence in a TF.
Battleship: These gargantuan crafts are designed to dominate ship-to-ship battles as well as providing ortillery support to allied forces. They are also used in traditional naval purposes as a way of delivering maximum firepower at once, since they are equipped with heavier artillery than most other ships.
Boarding class: These crafts are designed to deliver combat personell to enemy ships, thus boarding them.
Bomber: A bomber is anything designed to deliver its payload in the form of bombs. See also fighter/bomber.
C: The speed of light.
Carrier: A craft that carries several smaller ships. See also invasion carrier.
Cruiser: A fast ship used to harass enemy supply lines or trading routes. Several various classes exists: Light cruisers, heavy cruisers, battlecruisers and missile cruisers, though the light cruisers are no longer in service.
Destroyer: A destroyer is a ship that is used mostly as a screening vessel, protecting the capital ships of a TF.
Disruption: A disruption ray causes instability on the molecular plane in a target, capable of dispersing all matter within a two centimeter radius. The bolt of energy is conatined within a magnetic field generated by several magnects in the chamber. Upon firing the magnetic sphere is lowered in the direction of the barrel (and thus the target) while the opposite side is strengthened, thus propelling the bolt forwards. It is possible, if weapon's lacking a safety mechanism, to store the energy from a bolt without actually releasing it to enhance the strength of the second shot. This is extremely dangerous as the bolt is prone to fire backwards as the magnetic field is lowered to chamber a new round, not mentioning that the weapon is not built to withstand the extreme situation experienced when holding two bolts at once. While most disruptor weapons, like the outphased Mk.VI DR, are precision weapons the Mk.V HG is more than capable of fending off CQC assailants. Through a rapid decay of the magnetic field the bolt is released as an expanding hemisphere capable of knocking opponents unconscious, though the blast isn't lethal as a more controlled discharge which focuses the energy into a narrow bolt.
Dropship: A craft used to ship personell from orbital stations or ships to a planet's surface.
DS: Discarding sabot, the plastic shell surrounding a round allowing it to be fired through a larger caliber gun, thus propelling it to higher speeds than normal. Frequenly used in AP rounds.
EMU: Exploration and Mapping Units are small one man crafts designed to explore space and make contact with other civilizations. Pilots are always granted the rank of Temporary Representant. While these crafts are generally sorted under the Spacefleet, they are under the control of the Diplomatic Corps.
Exploration and Mapping Unit: See EMU.
Fighter: A fighter is an aircraft, though most aircraft are also capable of space travel, used to combat other crafts. See also fighter/bomber.
Fighter/bomber: This craft is capable of engaging both air and ground targets, though it excels at none of these types of combat.
Gravitronic: These weapons utilizes a beam of energy to create a gravitational anomally within a thirty feet area of the point hit, the anomaly causes the target to implode around the epicener and thus collaps into tiny bits of debris. They require immense amounts of energy and are only found on spacecraft and large vehicles like the now outphased ATAV (All Terrain Attack Vehicle).
HailSys: The standard communication system mounted in all vehicles and combat helmets. It is capable of a wide range of communication forms, for example adio/video, plain audio, plain video and Long Range Holographic Transmitter/Reciever.
HE: HE grenades are simply canisters of high explosive material called TacEx (a chemical whose real name and compounds arr still classified). They are fired by magnetic rails in the same fashion as plasma bolts but are purely subsonic. Upon impact a rod which goes through the TacEx breaks, stopping the electrical current which stabilizes it. Bombs work in the same way.
HEAT: High Exlosive Anti-Tank rounds consist of an explosive material (TacEx) inside an ordinary shell. The explosive has a cone shaped hollow lined with copper facing the enemy. Upon detonation the copper is concentrated into a thin, in effect liquid, jet moving at 12 km/s. The pressure generated causes the target material to behave like a liquid and disperses.
Heavy cruisers: A type of cruiser, that is more heavily armed than other cruisers, except battlecruisers. They are used mainly to blockade enemy ports, though they can function as capital ships in light TFs.
HEF: High explosive fragmentation grenades are anti-personell weapons. The main difference between HE grenades and HEF are that the HEF has a shell made out of metal and not plastic, the metal is designed to shatter upon detonation and throw large amounts of shrapnel up to thirty metres away, the lethal radius however is fifteen metres.
HEFDU: These armour piercing high explosive fragmentation rounds are used by the Lion fighter/bombers of the Fleet. They consist of a shell of depleted uranium which penetrates the enemy armour, upon penetration the electric rod in the TacEx melts and the chemical explodes inside the enemy vehicle. This weapon has proved effective against medium and heavily armored targets but not as effective if aimed at lighter targets as the friction is not great enough to melt the rod.
HEI: These weapons are one of the most efficient anti-personell weapons in service. Upon impact the TacEx explodes and sprays napalm over areas up to 100 x 100 metres (in the case of the bombs dropped by Mosquitos). Napalm cannot be extinguished by water and burns through most uniforms in seconds.
HESH: High explosive squash head rounds are a type of anti-fortification ammunition. On impact the plastic explosive in the shell spreads out to form a disk on the surface of the concrete, and is then detonated. The shockwave travels through the armour and causes small pieces of concrete to fly around the interior of the bunker. The resulting fragments injure or kill the garrison, damage equipment, and/or ignite ammunition and fuel.
HEFAPDS: The high explosive armour piercing discarding sabot round is in fact two rounds. The innermost is a typical HEF round with a thin metal casing, the outermost is an armour piercing cap which is dispersed upon penetration since it melts because of the friction. The cap merges with the armour of the target vehicle and repairs the hole it made when penetrating, the HEF round then hits the other side of the vehicle and detonates, sending thousands of fragments ricochetting inside the tank. The advantage over standard AP rounds is that the HEFAPDS leaves the tank relatively unharmed after a shot but still takes out the crew, thus an enemy commander can be fooled to think he has more tanks at his command than he actually has since some of them has been neutralized. The round also leaves a burn mark where the cap merged with the armour and thus confusion amongst the own ranks is avoided since it is clear which tanks are neutralized and which are not. This round also makes salvaging of enemy vehicles easier.
Hyperspace generator: This machine allows travel between planets and stars as it generates a portal to another reality, created solely for this kind of travel. The universe is a long tube going from one place to another thus limiting the time needed to travel, the best way to imagine this would be a paper. Going from one end of the paper is time consuming as they are far away. But if we bend the paper so that the two points almost touch each other and then travel between them we would have travelled a shorter distance in hyperspace but still a enourmous distance in realspace. That is what a hyperspace generator does.
Invasion carrier: These crafts are used to freight dropships to where they are needed, as well as some fighter/bombers to support them.
LRHTR: Long Range Holographic Transmitter/Receiver, see HailSys.
Missile cruiser: A missile cruiser is a fast ship used for hit-and-run attacks, delivering maximum payload in the form of space-based torpedoes or missiles.
MPFRPSM: Man Portable Fusion Reactor Power Supply Magazine, the standard magazine used to create the plasma in plasma bolts.
PB: Planetary Bombardement, the use of orbital or otherwise spacebased weaponry for tactical or strategical use through bombardement.
PBSNuW: Planetary Bombardement Strategical Nuclear Warhead, a nuclear warhead designed for PB purposes.
Plasma bolts: Plasma bolts is the standard ammunition in the armed forces. They consist of a normal 20th century 12,7mm bullet with some modification, the bullet is made out of plastic and contains several small magnets which creates an electromagnetic field that holds the plasma in place. The plasma is created in a MPFRPSM and is then injected into the bullet via electromagnetic railways. The bullet is accelerated through the gun by magnetic rails and reaches supersonic speeds, when the bullet hits a target it shatters and the plasma is propelled forwards and burns through most kinds of targets.
Shuttle: A craft that transports goods or personell from one place to another.
Solaris: A plasma torpedo used by spaceships.
StraNuc: A nuclear weapon for strategical use. Capable of knocking out major cities in one strike, and mainly used as deterring weapons since the threat of anyone of those would keep an enemy from attacking.
Sublight engine: See sublight thrusters.
Sublight thrusters: A sublight thruster is simply anything capable of propelling an object to speeds less than c, though it is mostly used when referring to the thrusters of a spacecraft.
TacEx: The exact composition of the Tactical Explosive is unknown, but it is known that it is highly unstable unless an electrical current runs through it. It is the standard explosive used in bombs and explosive ammunition.
TacNuc: A nuclear weapon designed for tactical use. They are smaller than and not as powerful as the StraNucs and are used to knock out high priority facilities and spaceships.
TF: Task Force, the standard group of crafts to be assigned to missions.
Torpedo: A torpedo is a guided missile for use against ships. They were originaly launched from submarines, but soon destroyers and other ships were outfitted with Above Sea-level Torpedoes (AST). With the creation of the Spacefleet it was decided that the same word should be used for space-based guided missiles.
