Hogsweat bombs Call to Power; War Declared

4/5/05 - FARAF Whitby
10:09; Greenwich Mean Time
Black night engulfed the rather large bomber base on the outskirts of Whitby - Free Allied Republic Air Force Whitby was primarily a bomber station, containing three squadrons of B1H Supersonic Bombers, a squadron of B2H Stealth Bombers, and two squadrons of B52H Strategic Bombers. The two Eurofighter squadrons and the F22 squadron were primarily for Patrol and City Defense Operartions and the F22 squadron was part of the Whitby City Garrison.

The dark night was also a rainy one - making huge puddles as the bomb loader vehicle skitted across the runway with a trailer full of cruise missiles, the one behind in the convoy with conventional bombs and the one next with a huge explosive - probably a fuel air bomb or something similar. The crews drove as fast as safely possible - they didn't like being out in the rain and they weren't being paid overtime either. The logistics crewman was a hard but not unsung job ; in fact, the 1st of May was Defenders Day, Logistics. However it was only a short break and the aircraft servicemen were back on duty.

An hour later
121 Squadron, the B52Hs, were fully loaded and ready to roll. A series of flashing lights marked the begining of Operation:NOBLE FURY the huge bombing campaign to reduce the morale of the Powerian people to nothing and prepare for a sea based invasion of the small but strong nation. One by one the bombers took off, the twenty four strong bombing force meeting up with two squadrons from FARAF Manchester, a squadron from FARAF York and a squadron from FARAF Bristol. Meanwhile the four airbases began refueling and loading B1H's for a daytime strike over Call To Power.

Six Hours Later: 04:09 PM GMT
The bombers were flying high and up over the seas -by the time they hit call to power people would be waking up and preparing to go to work in CTP. Hopefully the bomber unit would catch the morning rush off guard and a victory owuld be marked down in their names in the halls of the honoured and possibly the halls of the dead.

Two Hours Later: 06:09 GMT
"This is bomber command to all units, entering enemy airspace and approaching capital, raise to full altitude, over."
Brian Halford gulped. -1 Hour. Zero hour was approaching. He switched back to a small frequeency, breaking radio silence and saying;
"advance bombers, drop chaff. All units prepare countermeasures and AAMs. Let's do this thing. Guarded by her people, ever may the FARoH stand. Halford out."

The bombers prepared AAMS and countermeasures as they approached CTP capital..

"Sh!t here they come" the radar officers screen exploded with 120 B52H bombers"

"well the fly has come to the spider let's make sure they do not forget the mistake"

"sir F14 and patriot interception" (if they can get high enough if not its F-22)

Halford flicked a button, engaging countermeasures as his anti missile equipment took out the patriot heading for him - some however were not so lucky, as they hit the vulnerable B52H udnerbelly and destroyed the craft, bringing twelve down to the ground. It was a pity, Halford thought. But the FAROH would have it's revenge. The B52Hs, coming straight over mainland.. were now only 45 miles away from the capital.

Republican Department of Defense

The nation of Call To Power had gone too far this time. not only had aircraft of that nation engaged Allied Shipping and caused casualties, they had also caused the destruction of a Republican Destroyer, sinking it and causing horrendous casualties. The death toll had gone past five hundred men and women, and that was as much an declaration of war against the Republic as signing a piece of paper.

As such, after one of the quickest Acts of Parliament ever recorded in the history of the Republic, a vote of 485-15 had called for a declaration of war against the nationstate of Call To Power and the immediate commision of Republican forces for the invasion of Call To Power. The Republican Rapid Reaction Force, two Infantry Divisions and a Mechanised Brigade were formed up and immediately sent orders to go via sea-bound convoy to Call To Power and land an invasion force, accompanied by the Second Carrier Fleet and the Republican Carrier Republica.

Just Outside Call To Power Territorial Waters, Onboard Republican Ohio-Class Submarine Vengeance

All of those onboard the Vengeance had heard of the attack upon the O'Brian and had found it fitting in a way that the first vessel to deliver the revenge of the Republic against those who had commited such an atrocity was so aptly named. Inside the Bridge of theVengeance, crewmen plotted the position of known Call To Power Air Defense Network targets, including Radar Positions, Airfields, SAM Missile and Patriot Battery Sites and Communication positions. As each target came onto the large screen in the middle of the Bridge, it was assigned two Tomahawk Missiles from the number carried by the Vengeance and stacked into a target list, ready for launch.

Soon over fifty targets and one hundred of the powerful missiles had been targeted, aimed and armed. At the reciept of a tranmission from the Republica and confirmation by the Captain and XO, the two men turned to a console and confirmed the launch order. Seconds later the entire Submarine was filled with the furious roar of the first wave of missiles launching and heading towards their targets, skimming the waves and eventually land until they popped up briefly over their targets before detonating...

As the waves of Tomahawks were launching, onboard the Republica and the Combat Transports, Blackhawk and Osprey Helicopters were loading their human cargos of Marines from the First Marine Assault Battalion and awaiting orders to launch. As soon as the missiles hit and the following Fighter-Bomber barrage cleared the Landing-Zones for the choppers, the first Company, some 250 strong, would launch in the Ospreys and Blackhawks and skim the waves until landing on the beach selected, accompanied by Apache Gunships and Harrier VTOL's to provide close-fire support in the landing grounds...

OOC- ALl OOC in the OOC thread please.
http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=416923&page=3

Information being relayed from satellites, directly to bomber command in Scapa Flow, was being analysed and it was quickly realised that Call To Power, while having a hugely obscene number of outdated interceptors, had pretty much no navy or army to speak of. The second wave of bombers, the high speed, high death supersonic B1H's were rerouted and given a new mission - destroy all of Call to Powers airfields. The B1H's, completely new aircraft from B1s, where soon to be decommissioned. Most of them were nearly fourty years old. This would be their last run in the final mission of victory. The bombers would operate non stop to destroy satellite spotted Call to Power airfields.
The first wave, consisting of three squadrons, split up over Call To Power and both headed individually to an airfield that was getting constantly GPS relay. at seventy five thousand feet the B1H's weren't afraid of F14 Tomcat interception. They could operate freely above interdiction airspace. The weapons loaded, the B1Hs squadrons approached their respective airbases...

At scapa flow, a small group of left over, soon to be decomissioned, ex British ships was being put together to be sent with the SCVN HMS Mount Shetton to Call To Power for naval dominance and to stop exports.

OOC - Please, this RP is now closed. On the Attacking side; Coreworlds, Hogsweat, Skinny87. Call to power if you can find 2 other allies they can also join the RP. Otherwise, no.

Previously...

In the meantime, the Empress has ordered the youngest members of the Armed Forces, the 125th Kid Ninja Division, to help allied nations invade Call to power. They will be heavily escorted by the Core Dragons (yes, indeed we have dragons) and the Firestorm Squadron of the 1st Imperial Navy, the Best of the Best.

2 Nimitz-class Aircraft Carriers
2 Battleships
3 Cruisers
4 Destroyers
5 Frigates

2 Attack Subs

1 Helicopter carrier (carrying the Dragons)
3 Landing Craft (Kid Ninjas)
2 Landing Craft (Marines)
Now...Operation Slingshot begins!

The Firestorm has finally reached the icy waters of Call to Power, breaking through the ice with their weight. Winter has come to the nation, and it will be a bitter one indeed.

Commodore Samuel Ichibald Oak (no relation to the guy from the show that must not be named) went through his radar screens with his crew, nodding as all systems were in order.

"Begin the launch sequence." He ordered, and soon enough, the first flight of Super Tomcats began to lift off. They circled higher and higher over the relatively small fleet until they leveled off at 50,000 feet, waiting for the rest of the squadrons, a mix of -14Es, -18Ds, -22 Sea Raptors and AWACS as well as EW/ECM and refueling planes to take off. The last of the planes to take off were Viking antisubmarine planes, but so far the ASW frigates, destroyers and subs have found no contacts. But they never knew what was out there, so it pays to be careful.

All told, about 200 aircraft lifted into the sky, preparing to sieze air superiority away from the enemy. The AWACS was especially useful because it can detect things very far away, infact farther than the normal radars and lidars and other sensor equipment from the fighters. The enemy will never know what hit them...

OOC: Could you post losses from the Tomahawks I launched, and from Hogsweats attacks?

Republican Carrier Republica

On the glass screen that dominated the bridge of the Republica that displayed a three-dimensional map of the area around the Republican fleet, a number of new fast moving contacts suddenly appeared. These were tagged by the technicians operating the screen and instantly reported on. A shout came from the Radar Officer. 'Admiral, we have multiple targets incoming from the land. Fast-moving contacts identified as Airbourne Missiles, the same type that hit the O'Brien. We're tracking half-a-dozen of the missiles inbound on our position.'
Admiral Rocker glanced at the screen for an instant before turning to the Weapons Officer and speaking in a calm tone. 'Engage the Air Defense Network and alert the outer pickets to engage the targets as they come into range of their SAMs.' Rocker kept calm even as the missiles sped towards the Republica, missiles that if not destroyed could cripple the Carrier.

GRS Horizon

The Horizon was just one of half-a-dozen Aegis Cruisers that were part of the Outer Air Defense Picket, and was typical of its class. As soon as the message from the Republica was recieved, the Commander ordered the leading Missiles to be targeted by the computers controlling the SAM Launchers on the decks of the Horizon and the Mark 41 Launching System. With the targets acquired and firing solutions found, the RIM-67 Standard Missiles in the Vertical Launching System were primed and launched, launching ten of the small multi-purpose missiles aloft. The other five Aegis-Class Cruisers repeated the same process, putting fifty of the small missiles into the air towards the incoming missiles.

At the same time, the CIWS systems throughout the entire fleet were put on alert and began tracking the incoming missiles as well. Should any missiles get through the constant barrage of RIM-67 Missiles, the rapid-firing Gatlings would also have to be contended with...

As it happened, the CIWS system was needed by the Republican Fleet. The swarm of missiles launched by the Horizon hit the wave of enemy missiles and knocked two out, destroying them and causing a third missile to be knocked out of range, plunging into the ocean and detonating harmlessly. However, such was the speed of the remaining group of missiles that they made it past the range of the Outer Picket before more missiles could be launched. Once in range of the CIWS systems, the Gatling-type guns on the ships opened fire, creating an almost solid screen of depleted-uranium rounds that hit each missile dozens of times. One was hit outright and detonated just above a Destroyer, killing several sailors and knocking the Destroyers electrical systems out for several hours. The second and third missiles, however, hit two targets. Firstly the Transport Duncan was hit amidships, killing several hundred troops aboard the vessel and breaking the ship in half before it sank, taking most of its crew with it. The third and final missile was actually detonated two metres from the starboard side of the Republica. The resulting detonation tore a hole in the side of the Carrier, destroyed more than a dozen FA/18 Fighters on deck and killed more than a hundred crewmembers above and below decks. However, despite the heavy damage the Republica was still operational. The fleet had gotten away lucky this time, but there would not be a second time. Hopefully the Tomahawks had destroyed enough of the Call To Power Air Defense Network to enable a landing of troops...

"Captain, we have vampires inbound!" A radar officer yelled. "I count perhaps 10 missiles, maybe more."

"Countermeasures!" Commodore Oak ordered. And the Captain gets his wish in the form of SAMs and CWIS systems. Missiles began lifting off, swatting at least half of the missiles. CWIS took care of the rest, but one of the cruisers were hit and damaged amdiships. Damage control worked hard to keep it from sinking and were successful, but the cruiser now lists to starboard.

"Counterattack immediately."

Tomahawks began lifting off from the attack subs and battleships, not to mention the other cruisers and destroyers. All in all, over two dozen missiles were launched, guided by GPS systems to targets in Call to power.

----

In the air, the 200 fighters began to make a plan. The F/A-18s will attack first, hiding the other two types of planes in their exhaust to feint out the enemy and make them believe that there's a fewer number of aircraft than there really is. It's a good plan, but would it work?

In the meantime, they flew in formation towards the Call to power coastline...

"Shit, we didn't even see you in the area!" Yelled Commander William Tucker of the Firestorm. He quickly ordered a split maneuver with the air fleet and as if parted by some unseen hand, the fighters rolled and split the squadrons to avoid "crashing" into the 'wall' made by McLeod's fighters. The commander cursed again, wondering what went wrong with all the radars.

Commodore Oak was not happy with the sudden appearance of McLeodian forces, but he was smart enough not to risk a fight with them. Especially as they didn't have the muscle on hand to deal with them. "Recall the main fighter groups. Keep Red, Green and Blue (-14, -18, -22) in the air for defensive purposes."

----

Meanwhile, 18 year old Chuunin (aka Colonel) Joshua Sevren, commanding officer of 2nd Battalion of the 125th Ninja Division was curious as to what's going on with the sudden appearance of McLeod forces. Were they friends or were they enemies? He decided that he would wait and see how the Commodore plays it out...

"General Homer! Call to Power has fired its Archers!"

"Did they have the Anti-Countermeasure systems?"

"Yessir. Should we tell CtP about them?"

"Yes, contact them about their abilities. Let's see how our Archers fare against a real army."

Secret IC to CtP:
Those archers we sold you have anti-anti-missile systems on them. They're not invincible, but they should prove rather effective. Tehy have extra armor that can come off as it gets near its target for against missiles and ballistics. It also has defensive systems that counteract jammers and such, but those are only 73% effective. The code for them is 022-622-5227.

Secret IC to Hogsweat:
Green Sun will pay you if you can secure their Archer missiles and return them to Green Sun. Or you can keep them for yourself, it doesn't matter, but we won't back you up on them since you technically didn't buy them.

General IC:
As a note to both sides of this conflict, nonmilitary personell are currently leaving CtP. A direct attack on these forces will trigger our involvment further in this conflict. An accidental attack will probably result in a fee and an apology.

Onboard the Republica

The Tomahawks had been tracked to their targets, and as soon as their detonations had been recorded and confirmed, the official word was sent out to the invasion forces gathered in the Blackhawk and Osprey Helicopters. As soon as the last of the Marines were safely ensconced in their transports the first wave of attackers would be launched.

Exactly one hour later the first groups of Blackhawks and Ospreys took off from the Republica and the Assault Transports heading for the gaps in the Call To Power Air Defense Network created by the Tomahawk strikes. More than fifty helicopters carrying the First Battalion, First Marine Infantry Division lifted off and moved briefly upwards before swiftly hugging the water, the waves skimming mere metres below the open doors of the Helicopters. The assault wave was preceded by more than eighty FA18s and Harrier VTOL Jumpjets who launched a devestating bombardment of the Landing Zones (LZ) of the first wave.

Onboard one of the first Blackhawks was Timothy Yane, a Private First Class in 2nd Company, 1st Battalion, which was to be the first company to hit the Landing Zones, and as such would be among the first Republican troops to land on Call To Power territory. However, at that moment Yane was not considering what a historic and dubious honour this would be. He was more concerned with checking that the safety of his M-16 was off and ready to fire, that his Helmets chin strap was safely around his chin, and most importantly that he didn't fall out of the rapidly moving helicopter. Satisfied that all three weren't an issue anymore, Yane looked up and around the interior of the helicopter. The rest of his squad were there, doing the same as he was or just sitting and waiting for the inevitable firefight that would occur as they hit the LZ. Yane checked his rifle again out of sheer compulsion, and then just sat and waited as the helicopter screamed low over the water.
In the near distance he could hear the sounds of explosions and jet engines screeching, as well as the steady dull thump of anti-aircraft fire before the sounds suddenly got much louder and the Blackhawk flared for a rough combat landing. Suddenly there were explosions all around Yane, and he could feel the heat from them, as well as the pattering of bullets hitting the helicopter before the Blackhawk hit the ground and the Crew Chief began screaming for the troopers to jump out. Without time for even a short prayer Yane jumped out of the helicopter into Hell...

Several cargo planes and transports flew over head. The rumbling of battle could be heard from miles around. The men and women inside the Daikertan convoys, though, seemed to brush off the fact that with each explosion, another half dozen or so lives are lost. It wasn't for the fact that they were used to it, for many of them this was their first actual mission, but because their minds were concentrated on another group of sick and injured for which they must care for.

"Word has it a couple thousand have already died in the firefights. If this war continues to grow than we may have to deal with catastrophic numbers of patients." exclaimed one private, trying to make conversation. Most of the others were locked into their zone, blocking all around them, but still a few nodded in somber agreement with their comrade.
"You think we're gonna send in our grunts to help clean up the mess the two side are making here?" another soldier asked, this one a female nurse.
"I don't know, with the way things are shaping up we might see a few division out here to whip these guys into shape."

The roaring engines could be heard inside the planes as gentle buzzing. A yellow light began to flicker; signal that deployment was coming soon. The pilot of one Zeppelin Class flicked on a few switches, and pulled the microphone on his headset down to his mouth.

Belem playing the peacekeepers? This would be laughable if the situation were not already so dangerous. We ask that you spare the world your "cautionary actions" and withdraw from the area.

Hatarian Invasion Force. 1,432 Miles from The War zone.

Ming Asakura knew that the up-coming Battle would be unlike Elat or any other Battle he had seen. Call to Power would be a Battle that would be large. The Hatarian Plan called for ICBM launches (The ICBMs would be armed with High Expodeivse Warheads) at the enemy cities. the Hatarian Planes from the carriers would bomb the beaches to amke way for Hatarian and allied troops. with 123 Divisions with 30,000 troops in each division, Call to Power would have to surender to stop The Hatarians from helping Hogsweat turn CTP to an Colony.

Republican Beachead Able

The sheer weight of fire coming from the enemy defences at LZ Alpha had surprised even the veteran Republican troops, and for a few crucial minutes the landings had paused as the first wave of troop transports landed and deposited their troops before quickly speeding off for the next wave of troops. Casualties had been extremely heavy in the first wave, as expected by those higher up in command, and several hundred men and women from the first wave had fallen, never to get back up.

In a shallow foxhole that he and several of his comrades had dug hastily whilst under fire from several machine-gun nests and mortar and artillery fire, PFC Yane crouched and prayed feverishly that, unlike the man who lay next to him, bleeding from several shrapnel wounds, he wouldn't be terribly wounded or even killed. Shaking as sand spilled onto his helmet as a machine-gun raked the foxhole, Yane picked up his M-16 and poked his head and upper-torso out of the foxhole long enough to fire a short, wild burst before collapsing in his foxhole again.

Behind him was the burning wreckage of the Blackhawk that had taken him into battle, hit by an RPG just seconds after he had jumped out of it, spilling out burning troops before detonating in a huge fireball that had knocked Yane over. As the wreckage continued to burn and rounds contained within the detonated randomly, a figure in camouflaged BDUs suddenly jumped into the foxhole next to Yane. Yane turned, weapon ready to fire, but he noticed in time that the figure wore Republican BDUs. The figure was a Colonel, the nametag on his spattered uniform reading 'Harn'; Colonel Harn, commander of the First Republican Marine Battalion, turned to Yane and smiled grimly. 'Hell of a time, isn't it?' he yelled to be heard over the gunfire and exploding rounds. Yane could only whimper and shake his head dumbly.

Turning back, Yane could see that throughout the LZ, the second wave had landed, unnoticed by him in his petrified state, and that hundreds of Republican troops and several light Bradley AFVs were advancing through the wreckage of the first wave towards the enemy frontline. Harn shook Yanes shoulder and pulled him up, out of the foxhole, apparently unaware of the machine-gun fire. 'You can either stay here and die, or come with me and possibly die. Your choice.' Harn shouted before turning to the troops gathering behind him and pointing to the dug-in machine-gun nest that was causing such havoc to Yarn. With a wild yell Harn ran out of the foxhole towards the MG nest, followed by a dozen troopers. Yarn saw them run past him, and suddenly something happened in him; his training kicked in and he turned and ran towards the nest as well, yelling at the top of his voice. His lungs began to burn from the effort, his feet were aching and machine-gun rounds were dancing around his feet; but there was pure adrenaline coursing through his body, and with a final yell he jumped into the machine-gun nest along with the other troopers...

The two fleets arrive at the rendevouz point off the coast of Call to Power. They begin linking up into defensive formations as over 160 aircraft begin taking to the air to establish a CAP screen 120 miles around the fleet.

As soon as the fleet was prepared missile ships start the firing of over 800 tomahawk missiles at Call to Power positions. It would take nearly 20 minutes for the missiles to reach there target and 15 minutes after the launch the government releases the following the statement:

OFFICIAL DECLARATION OF WAR AGAINST CALL TO POWER

Because of Call to Powers illegal and baseless attacks against the nation of Feline Catfish and its allies and its Call to Powers other violations of International and Soverign Laws most notably the violation of Belems implied protectorate status given to Feline Catfish. The Holy Imperial Empire of Belem has declared war against Call to Power.

This is not a matter of politics. This is a matter of saving countless lives.

The 1st Medical Battalion began its descent towards the ground. Inside each of the planes, red lights began to flicker, and the soldiers grasped the rope over their heads for added security. One by one, the planes began to land, until nearly half an hour later, the entire batallion had found clear, open area. The convoy had been separated almost ten miles in each direction, because of the lack of good flatland. After a quick check on the status of each plane, the Daikertans began to uncouple the medical supplies and food from the cargo vessels.

Still in the air, the 6th Medical Battalion continued on their way towards the nearest town. Their mission was to set up a hospital and a fire shelter away from where combat is most likely to take place. Both battalions kept close contact with each other over the radio, and informed each other of what was taking place.

Back on the ground, the 1st Medical rounded up all of their supplies, and began to move to a center meeting area, where they would regroup and announce their presence to both sides of the fight. Slowly, their transport and cargo planes began to take to the air once again, making thier way back home.

In the meantime, more dragons have begun lifting off the helicopter carrier. A full squadron was soon in the air. There was a flight of 4 Brown Dragons, who have the ability to cast powerful windstorms to blow away enemies. A flight of Red Dragons, noted for casting immense firestorms and even small meteor showers like missiles. The final flight was a flight of Blue Dragons, who are able to strike down on enemies with lightning as powerful as bombs. Dragons of War. Unique. Dangerous. Powerful.

They only need a single order, and they would strike, raining death and destruction from above...

"Countermeasures!" Commodore Oak ordered. And the Captain gets his wish in the form of SAMs and CWIS systems. Missiles began lifting off, swatting at least half of the enemy missiles.
