OOC:
The recruiting thread is now the OOC thread, post any purely OOC posts in there.

People invited:
Nebarri Prime
Theao
Demonic Gophers
Mondoth

If one of these people doesnt post within two days then one of these two can come in:
Mini Miehm
Royale Daito

Sorry, but I dont want more than five people yelling at each other for godmodding ;)

Teams are 2 vr 3, dont know whos on what team yet, but you can decide yourselves.

So, invaders post your landings/airdrops/whatever.
Keep in mind that it will take at least a day, most likely more, to reach the 'invadable' part of the country, over a bit dusty wasteland.

The Assault fleet arrived on position just after dusk, leaving the entirety of the night to begin the landing. as the fleet sorted itself from oceanic travel formation to landing formation, the Harris class Amphibious Assault ships came to the front, creating a wall of silent flat decked ships broken only by the occasional silhouette of a Barrier class fleet defense vessel.
As soon as the assult ships were in positiontheir giant clamshel doors opened onto the the brightly lit interior, revealingindustrious activity as te landing craft were prepared for their first run. A few minutes after te first clamshell door had begun its slow creaking opening, te firs landing crafts issued forth like some satanic host crossing the river Styx into hell.
As soon as the landign craft touched land the ramps dropped and Mondothian Marines immediately ran towards positions plotted by the fery first wave of the attack, the surveilance drones. The marines set up along the periphry of what would become the primry landing site, setting up Crew serviced machine guns, anti tank weapons and man potable SAMs. Meanwhile, the first wave of landing crafts, having barely kissed land were already returnign to their parent ships to retrieve the second wav of the landing.

The amphibious transports as well as the long-ranged airborne transpost began landing the forces intended to clear the hordes of goblins from thier burrows. As satellite reconnisance having picked up minimal air or navel assest from the BMGs the initial landing was composed of engineer construction and deployment of the ED landing strip design.

Four miles away on a low hill three Goblins sat in a small bunker, designed to spot this kind of invasion.
They were currently attempting to master poker. There was lots of finger counting going on.
"I tell joo already! Straight beat flush! My clams now!"
"A flush beats a straight, plus ur queen is ugly! Dat means I win!"
"Screw joor queen! I got all da royal-peeple fer my side. See dat guy? He gottan axe! He gonna chop ur stoopd queen up!"
"Mine!"
"Mine!"
"Mi-...Hey...whats dat?"
"Its mine dats what it is!"
"No, not dat...dat!"
"Dat?"
"Yah! Da big metaly fing...wit a ramp on it..."
"Bugger..."
"Where?"

After two minutes of argueing over who was going to use the radio the call went out, invaders on the beach, send help now.

---

Gundabad was in an uproar, Krark had been moved to a bunker somwhere in the western mountains and many other officials had scattered to their various commands.
The Goblins T-80G tanks were being hastily moved to the outer mountains and special commando teams had been busy wiring the passess with explosives.
Out in the wastes the Grey Wolf Goblins were slow to get the news, but once it was recieved it was acted upon. The Grey Wolf Irregulars had deployed in no time and were stationing themselves in the small pre-prepared caves and hidden places throughout the Waste, in preperation for the rear-line actions that would take place once the enemy passed by.
The few Goblin airplanes were immidiatly in the sky, the MIG-21's dominating, but a sprinkling of more modern MIG-29's and a few US-made F-16's.
The outer mountains were already bristling, various artillery pieces were rolled out onto their platforms or poked out of gunports, machine guns and so forth were aimed at choke points in the mountains.
The Goblins were ready.

:Aboard the Author class Fleet Supply Vessel "Kafka Dreams":

"Well, they certainly got word fast enough." said Admiral Rebekah Johns pouring over recent sattelite photos on the tactical display table. "Must of had an obs post on one of the hills near the shore, probably find it abandoned or destroyed when we start the advance."

"It's what i would have done." Replied general John Jacobson
"Damn" he swore after enlarging a portion of the image. "Didn't expect tanks to come out this soon, the terrain is in thei favor al the way to the marsh, I don't think we could make it even if we push hard, have to call in air strikes on the tank formaions to stall 'em.

"None of my fighters can reach that far, we'l have to wait for them to come to us."

"Well, hmmm, we could advance the artillery early, under cover of course, Tonight if possible, have 'em entenched and cammoed by sun up, when the tanks move into range we'll nail 'em. Send up some crows, I want to know if there are any more observation posts, take them out, what ever means necesary. I don't want anyone but me knowing where my stuff is!"

The orders were received at the now well established landing zone. The Silent Crow crews were summoned, given the orders and then left to perform their duties. The launchers were already assembled, all that remained was for the drones to actually be mounted for deploymnt, that took only a few minutes and then thirty Silent Crow type Recon drones were beginning to sweep the areas between the limits of their considerable range (A few hundred miles) and the landing zone. they utilized a number of methods, from infrared, UV, ground pentrating radar and Ladar systems to detect and identify everything in their fligh path. Their anti radar construction and design and the LCD skin made the drones nearly impossible to spot vissually and even harder to spot visually. a set of PC-12 figters was placed on standby with bunker busters and other munitions o take out any observation posts or other military outposts discovered.

(OOC:
The tanks are still hanging around by the swamp area.
Anyway, theres a few (very few) towns between here and the main area, you could go after those if you liked.)

IC:

The Rocket, Mk II, stood on its launch platform, smoking ominiously.
The exhaust pipes had been placed into specialy dug holes this time and there were rudders to steer the rocket, hastily adapted from a scrapped Titan missile.
There was, of course, an arguement as to who got to push the button. It was decided that the crew would all push the button at once, this proved innefective, but the rocket did launch, wideing the 'exhaust hole' a further twenty feet.
A few minutes later the solid-fueled rocket was arcing out over the outer mountains with its payload of six fifty-five gallon drums of whatever was a avalible and could be strapped reliably onto a rocket without exploding.
This inlcuded two barrels of napalm, a barrel of thermite, a barrel of gunpowder, a barrel of C4 and a barrel of apple juice.

---

"Lookit me! Lookit me!"
The Goblin crewman is holding his foot down on a pedal that causes the anti-aircraft gun turret to spin like a top, throwing the crew chief off.
"Stop dat! We are s'posed ta be looking for dem dam flyamajigs dey have! Shoot at dose and dont be spinning 'round all da time!"
"Yessir..."
"And pick up da cheif. He dont look too good."
"Yessir."
"Get me a beer while joor at it."
"Yessir."
"And make it snappy!"
"Yessir."

---

Twenty feet below the Mondothian landing zone six Goblins were moving rapidly through the relativly moist sand, barrels of explosives strapped on their backs, carrying AK-74 rifles and long curved knives.
There was a quick, quiet, arguement over their exact location after which they slowly began to dig up, carefully making no sound.

The first order of business for the Demonic Gophers was simply to reach the enemy position, and that meant digging fast. A team of the best tunnel-builders in the DG army set to work, digging far below the surface to maximize tunnel strength and minimize the risk of detection. Whenever one of the workers tired, another was quick to take up the job, and, with claws protected by steel sheathes, the tunnel progressed with remarkable speed.

Hundreds more worked on widening and improving the tunnel, and parallel tunnels were also begun.

OOC: Sorry about the short post; I'll be able to say more once I know what the digging conditions are. I'll also leave it up to you to decide which direction they're coming from, since you know the area around your territory.

OOC:
Most likely they would be coming from the East, since the North and West are both ocean boarders, and there arent any passess to the south.
Digging through/under the mountains wont work, just to let you know. Theres some damn tough rock down there, plus its riddled with tunnels already :P

The Theao air-force operating off of the ED landing strips took to the sky to contest the air forces of the BMG forces. A squadron of twelve F/A-18E Super Hornets and eight F/A-22A Raptor took to the skies and began hunting down the opposing aircraft.

The tunnelling goblins would have gone unnoticed except that an error in one of the silent crows returning from the initial scouting mission had caused the ground Penetrating radar to stay on. even then it might have gone unoticd except that one lieutenant had just been checked out on the recon drones and was fascinated with the ground penetrating radars capabilities, taking the error asa chance to play around with the abilities and not really having anything to do (having been assigned to the Crows operating detail) as he imaged moved across the camp, he wondered hat the strange underground formation he was seeing was, had he been more experienced he would have known it was a tunnel, as it was, the guns and barrels of explosives showed up very well on the display. He activated his radio and a team was dispatched, the area around where the hole was being dug was vacated quicly and quietly and a Mortar was quickly zeroed onto position. The drone stayed on position traking the upward progress, once the goblins reached high enough, the mortar was fired.
From now on a silent crow was tasked continuosly to monitor the ground under the landing zone (I'll never regret sacrificing battery life and extreme prie reduction for that feature, it has saved me much trouble. BTW: how are the tunneling through sand, thats pretty hard to keep it from collapsing, even twenty feet down, gotta be shored pretty regularly)

On the deck of the Forrest class fleet carrier "First Love" PC-12 unmanned aerial combat vehicles configured as wild weasels were rolling up to the catapults, The wild weasel is a very specialized aircraft, haing very little actual radar capability it does have a very advanced laser targetting suite for targetting ground structures, its load is almost entirly laser guided and anti radar missiles and despite its lack of radar it has a highly sophisticated radar detection and jamming system. These fighters were designed for a very dangerous mission, the detection and destruction of ground based anti aircraft weapons, it detected the radar emmisions from SAM sites searching for targets, or Radars set up to warn of incoming fighjter threats, and it was armed to destroy them. the laser guided missiles were reserved for hard to kill targets, or trgets such as gun emplacements that didn't have nearby radar and didn't need them to opperate. For this mission the fsquadron had a full complement of human overseers that were very experienced in this specific type of mission. The Jets roared off the carrier and towards targets designated as possibles by the preceeding wave of Silent Crows. (Not taking out civilian facilities right now unless they're potecting anti air emplacements.)

:Aboard the Author class Fleet Supply Vessel "Kafka Dreams":
"It looks like they're holding the tanks near the marsh, An interesting tactic, I would have entrenched them closer to our position there's no way an artillery barage coud ake them all out if their entrenched well enough. But maybe they're hoping air cover will be better closer to their home territory"

"Tchah" The admiral made a derrisiv noise "Yeah, better for us. we begin advancing the main force tonight and by tomorow noon we should have two airfields forward enough to start putting Spiders and Hawks over their forward lines of defense, the day after that we should be able to strike anyhwere in the mountains with anything bigger than a dragonfly"

"W'll have to bring in more Crows to patrol the enire line of advance, those tunnellers can be dangerous."

"They're being flown in, we'll have more than enough to keep two over every point on the line at all times"

"Good."

[OOC: What kid of marsh is it? (IE wetlands, or full of trees, and about how deep and wide is it?) Also, where is that missil headed, a modified titan (even just a jury rigger one) could be targetted just about anywhere on this side of the world]

The tunnel grew ever longer, progressing due West. Reports from base indicated that the first blows had been struck, and that open battle could erupt at any moment. To maximize speed, workers traded off positions every few minutes. Back at the outpost, tracks were being laid for railed transport; this was a large tunnel, with room for three such tracks, and it would be easy to move VSTs and other heavy weaponry through it.

"Hey Greg, I've hit a rock here. Too big to move out of the way. Circle or blast?"
"On this long a dig, we can't risk getting off-angle. We'll have to go through."
"Right, bring up the dynamite, then..."

A few minutes later, full speed progress on the tunnel resumed.

Damn Jolt!
Stupid bloody forum logged me out before I hit the post button, lost a fifteen minutes work to this blood thing!

*sigh*

Anyway, the missile is headed to your camp, and the Goblins have been digging around in the sand for a LOOOONGGG time, I assume they know what theyre doing :P

The Marsh is a sort of sand pit in the north, but with lots of assorted weeds and stuff in it, as you go south it gets more rainforesty.

Gist of my IC post:
Two of the Goblins were wounded, one of them died, the other fired his assault rifle at the drone and started moving towards the mortar under cover.
The last one is stunned in the pit but not wounded otherwise.
The Weasles/Human guys were intercepted by the MiGs and shot at by AA guns, the SAM sites are still under cover and dont have their radars on.

For Gophers the Goblins sealed off the tunnels around the level where hes digging and flooded them with alchemical waste, which is basicaly a lot of nasty chemicals you REALLY dont want to be near, then put guards on the levels above that.

Sorry for the crappy post... blame Jolt :P

OOC: Shooting at the drone would be really hard, its very high up and very hard to see, even if you know where to look, thats why there so successful. a drone that could be shot down by a guy holdng an assault rifle very quikly gets replaced by one that can't
Wild weasel is the name of the anti AA mission, with use, aircraft that are designed or armed secifically for this mission have become known as 'Wild Weasels' it's not a reference to were weasels or anything like that.

IC:

The new lieutenant working the faulty drone looked up a few seconds after the first mortar hit.
"Good shot, looks like one dead, two injured and one headed this way, Command'll probably want the injureds as prisoners. It looks like if you raise the arc about three degrees you'll hit pretty close to the one headed this way.
(OOC: I won't be doing much stuff like this, but don't expect any successful aambushes or other sneaky stuff until my advancing forces get to the marsh at least.)

:Aboard the Barrier class fleet defense ship "Crazy Nights":

"Incoming ballistic threat, profile consisten with modified Titan block boost phase, unknown bus."

"Rodger that, we're tracking it."

"Target entering killzone, setting weapons to automatic."

"Automatic weapons Aye, issueing alert to all forces."

The CIC (Combat Information Center. AKA war room) was relatively calm, Ballistic threats were relatively easy to hit, their only real protection in the terminal phase was speed and at this range it hadn't been able to build up much of that. on deck a single SAM battery came on line and began tracking in on the signal bouncing back from the massive SPY-3a radar array that was the heart of the BARRIER system. after barely seconds tracking the target it fired.
The Missile arced rapidly towards the unshapely missile bus, the size and relativley slow velocity mad ethe kill an easy one, the SAM could have made a nose to nose 'skin' kill except that it wasn't programmed for that. instead it had exploded just befor intercepting the missile sending a conical shockwave and shrapnel at the missile, the high relative velocities turned the shrapnl into very efective missile killing weapons and the bus exploded in properly cinematic fashion. spraying ignited naplm, burning C-4 and rapidly heating apple juice over several kilometers, part of the several kilometers had previously been occupied by a barracks tent, a latrine and two sentry posts/machine gun nests. th posts were a total loss, the four soldiers that had been mannign them incinerated. the latrine was a los as well, filling the air with the acrid stnch of burning excrement. The Barracks tent did not fair well either, Soldier rushed to escape the inferno of the burning tent, some escaped un harmed, others were not so lucky and about half the squadron hadn't ever stood a chance.

:Aboard the Author class Fleet Supply Vessel "Kafka Dreams":

"Damn, that missile strike will kill moral, See if we can get a mad al shipped in here to deal with that kind of threat beore it becomes a problem."

"We lost the weasels not much of a loss, just a few UCAVS and some bombs, Joe citizen will foot the bill, Next weasel mission goes out with Hawks to support it against aerial defenses, from what we got before the bad guys swept up the AA was keeping its hatches battened, we'll have to flush the out or we'll end up dealing with them at the worst possible time."

The general looked up from a report that had just blinked onto his screen.
"Damn, we won't be getting enough Crows, once we're at the marsh we'll be practicaly blind."

"Can't we get some seismic detectors or something get some of those multi-mines from SOCOM, they've got seismic detection capability don't they?"

"Not for is, they're for stuff moving over the ground, we need something to detect stuff moving under it, We might get something like that from the Trust if we asked real nicely but it might not b field hardened stuff, and thpeople who can use it certainly aren't."

The fighters, having reach and accuired targeting information on the BMG fighters, they flew in with the sun in thier back as they set thier missles on target lock, and began getting target lock on the goblin fighters. Once lock was reached, each fighter launched a single air-to-air missle.

On entering Goblin territory the Theao fighters encountered difficulty, namely the handheld SAM's and guns that studded the mountains, then further SAM-armed Goblins filling the swamps, plus the remaining fighters.
Some clever ground-controller had ordered the MiG-21's to stay between the enemy and the more advanced 29's, meaning that the 21's absorbed alot of the fire, leaving the 29's to open up on the incoming enemy at close range, those that didnt try to skim over the swamp at least...

Welcoming the distraction provided by the Theao airforces, twenty-four fighters roared off the deck of the First Love. twelve PC-12 UCAVs configured as Wild Weasels and twelve SF-41 'Ruddy Hawk" Air superiority fighters. even if they didn't find any 'active' aerial defense emplaements, they had orders to destroy the 'probables' identified by the Silent Crow sweep. the hawks would continue on and offer support to the Theao forces.

Meanwhile, the second wave of Silent Crows was out, as soon as a clear path of advance was found the first wave of ground forces would begin their advance. Wolf recon tracks would make up he vanguard followed by Gorrilla AIFVs in various configurations. forming up the rear of the advance was Gator APCs, Rcket artillery systems and various support and auxilliary vehicles including an FRDS that would extend Mondothian Air power even further into enemy territory.

"So these gobo's think they can shoot down or match us with those man-portable SAMs, flak-cannons and those laughable MiGs." The flight leader scoffed, "Fire plan sigma." he said as he pulled up on the stick, flipped a few switches, waited till he heard the familiar beep of mulit-missle locks, then pressed the firing stud. As the he did his actions the other pilots completed thier system set ups and fired. Each missle launched from the planes and streaked out after the goblin planes as the fighters preformed a loop and headed back to the airstrips.
